We recently dined at Beech Street Grill for my sister's birthday. There were six of us, so we made reservation for a Saturday night, thinking it would be packed. We were surprised that there were only a handful of tables and the restaurant was pretty quiet.
The last time I dined at Beech Street Grill, it was about 10 years ago. I have to say, I think the restaurant didn't change much in the last 10 years and felt, kinda old and tired. The food was not terrible, but for the price they charge, I was hoping for something more exciting; therefore the 3 star "A-OK" rating... a bit over priced in my opinion. -

We've had a place on the island for 6 years and have never made it to the BSG. There really was no rush to go and there won't be a rush to go again.
The dinner and service were not bad it's just that when I pay top dollar for dinner I expect a pretty great meal. Food was lukewarm and uninspired. I had Mojo Shrimp which had no hint of being marinated or even meeting a Cuban Mojo Crillolo Sauce.
We had specifically asked for the old part of the house and not until we arrived were we told "it was not open that evening" It would have been nice for the BSG to have called the number I provided when I made the reservation to let me know ahead of time as we would not have gone had we known.
The area we sat reminded me of a mid 80s Miami Beach Bistro complete with mediocre piano player.
There are lots of great restaurants on the island, this is just an OK one. -

What a letdown.
From the outside, it's a gorgeous restaurant. Inside, it feels old, and dated, and has the feel of a musty retirement home.
We went on a Saturday night, around 9pm, and the place was nearly empty. (that should have been a sign).
Out appetizers were very good (crab soup, and a salad), and the waiter helped us choose a very good wine.
From there, things went downhill.
I had the special, my wife had a tuna dish, whack looked good on paper, but in practice, the plate just didn't work. Even worse, my special came out on a cold plate, with fish on top of cold rice. Obviously the chef wasn't paying attention, or didn't care.
The server took both items off our bill, and i think was truly sorry for the meal. He did the best he could given the circumstances.
Arno point did a manager visit our table, which I would normally expect in this kind of situation. .
Regardless, I can't recommend this place. If you're in Amelia Island for vacation, I suggest you go elsewhere. -

We looked up this place on Yelp and Open Table to see what we could find in the Fernandina Beach area.
We enjoyed the dinner the food was good but not great. We ate mainly at the Ritz for the entire trip and the restaurants at the Ritz are a high bar for the area. -

One of my very best experiences during a weekend at Amelia Island was at Beech Street Grill. Granted, this was due to the fact that it was a Saturday night and we had a wonderful recommendation to sit upstairs. Taking the local's advice, our group of 20 & 30-something ladies made a reservation for the 2nd floor. This was vital to our experience at Beech Street because on Sat. nights, a wonderful local entertainer shares his talents on the piano and with the crowd.
The food was nice and the staff, gracious and attentive. The bulk of the menu consists of various seafood dishes, as well as some non-seafood options. I had the special, which was an oven-roasted Mahi with olive tapenade and a 1/2 house salad and I was very pleased. All of the other entrees looked quite nice as well and ranged from $18-$30.
There was a lot of good wine flowing and when the piano man began his interactive portion of the evening (name that tune), we were ready for the competition. The crowd was fun, friendly, and quite talented as well.
If I could give a 4.5 stars, I would. The only things that dropped the rating were minor. We got the last of their special pomegranate martini, although we ordered 3. They comped the other 2 martinis, but none of them were that great. Also, my fish was a little over-done and it took a while to receive our food. Again, fairly minor compared to the wonderful time we had with the piano man. A great place for a fun group dinner on Sat. nights or otherwise, a more romantic or formal dinner. I believe they also serve brunch on the weekend. -

Went there for with my Husband and parents and really enjoyed our meal. My mother and I each had a fish dish and they were both as good as they looked. My husband had seafood pasta, which he really enjoyed, not too heavy and lots of seafood (the shrimp were peeled). Our server helped us pick out a great bottle of wine that was not too expensive.

When my new hubby & I decided to venture out of our hotel room at the Ritz, we found our way to BSG for dinner. We shared a bottle of red wine while enjoying the quiet dinner together.
We shared the coconut shrimp appetizer. They were perfectly golden brown, however, I would have not minded if they were a little crispier so the breading didn't come off on our fingers when I picked them up. For dinner the husband ordered the lamb loin and I had the tenderloin meatloaf. Both dishes were served with green beans. Mine was served over mashed potatoes, while his was served with mushroom risotto. We were going to pass on dessert, which is rare for me, but they packed us a piece of white chocolate cheesecake to go to congratulate us on our recent nuptials. The cheesecake had a nice chocolate flavor, but was not overwhelming.
The server we had - Tarra, I believe - was excellent. She was attentive without hovering and very prompt when it was time to clear dishes and refill glasses. The dinner didn't knock our socks off, but it was a nice quiet dinner for two in a sleepy little beachside town. -

I started with the shrimp and grits which was a hearty portion. It did feel a little cold however, but the flavor was good. For dinner, I had the curried Grouper with pineapple salsa. The presentation was beautiful, however the grouper lacked seasoning. My husband had the filet which had excellent flavor. It was a little dark in our corner which made it hard to see the food. The filet was ordered medium but came out much closer to med rare-rare. If it wasn't for the dim lighting, my husband would have sent it back if he could have seen how red it was and the blood on his plate. For dessert, we had the bread pudding which was very good. Overall the service and portion sizes were very good as well.

Great wine list. Good cocktails and service. Overall the food was OK, but too rich for a hot Florida summer. The seafood was delicious, but all of the sides were just oozing butter. Tacky atmosphere with a "piano man" and bad abstract art, but I had a great time and most of the other patrons seemed to be too. I wish we could have been seated in the old house part instead of the hallway addition connecting the house to the carriage house.
