17 reviews for Beazley House
The Beazley House is the our first choice of places to stay when in Napa. It's a great B&B and the staff is top notch. There's a wide variety of rooms, each with their own unique decor & charm. The rooms in the main house are more of a traditional b&b style, while the rooms in the Carriage House are a bit larger and have a few more 'creature comforts'.
Everybody at The Beazley House went out of their way to ensure that everyone's trip to Napa is memorable. They always cater to your needs whether you're new to Napa or an experienced veteran. They know the ins & outs of Napa and are always ready with good suggestions and can help make reservations if you're looking for a specific experience.
My wife and I enjoyed our Beazley House experiences so much that we decided to get married there last year. We ended up renting out the entire B&B for a long weekend and it was wonderful. The entire Beazley House staff bent over backwards to ensure a memorable weekend was had by all.
Quiet place, beautiful gardens, super friendly staff. Overall, a nice experience when my S.O. and I stayed here last summer in the Garden Room.
Loved the breakfasts they prepared and delivered to our room. If you're vegetarian, let them know--it made all the difference in terms of what they cooked up. Good toiletries, and the sheets and towels were the softest and thickest, too.
I'm not sure I'd come back, though. The jacuzzi tub spat out hair and old rose petals when we turned on the jets. The dim lighting made finding things in the room difficult in the evenings--forget about applying makeup and getting dressed up in a jiffy, especially with the old iron + ironing board. Those things coupled with the Victorian pink-green-brown floral galore decor just made things feel...old.
But the major issue was that the "private" garden that was part of our room wasn't quite so--some guests walked through and saw some nekkedness one night. A bit too cozy....
I can't say enough good things about the Beazley House! We'd stayed here before so when it came time to pick a spot for our wedding, we picked the Beazley House.
We took over the entire Inn for our wedding weekend and everyone had a wonderful time. The Beazley's and their staff could not have been more accomodating. All of our guests commented how much they felt at home at the Inn.
Special thanks to Sonja Beazley-Burch for helping coordinate the entire weekend - everything went off without a hitch. She signed on to help coordinate the wedding itself but she got more than she bargained for when we asked her to help coordinate some family events as well.
The Beazley House will always have a special place in our hearts and we hope to visit many more times in the years to come.
Beazley House was a wonderful experience. Staff was friendly, outgoing, and helpful. Our room was wonderful, we had the West Loft, it was quiet, comfortable, romantic, clean -- the beds and bedding were awesome, I am considering buying the same sheets! I would stay there again on my next trip to Napa and look forward to returning. (Michele -Silicon Valley)
This was Napa's first B&B. It's housed in a lovely Craftsman-style home that was built in 1902. The Beazleys are the fourth owners and there's a terrific book downstairs that not only gives the history of the house but has photos and accounts of work that has been done since 1981 when it opened. The house is superbly maintained. The rose garden in front is in spectacular bloom and clearly doesn't suffer the deer browsing that my roses do. They fly a Rainbow flag in front of the house. More on that later.
We were welcomed by Colin, who showed us to our room, the Spring Rose. It is a large, sunny room tastefully decorated in greens and pinks, w/ a queen bed and a day bed, so it could have accommodated three people. There was a smallish Arts & Crafts dresser that was in beautiful shape. On top of it were two inverted water glasses and two inverted wine glasses. On top of the wine glasses were chocolates. The bathroom is an adequate size, w/ a shower. It was nicely laid out and the towels were thick and plush. There was a zippered plastic bag of shampoos, conditioners, lotions and other amenities. The house has filtered water, so there was no bottled water, a good, green touch.
Downstairs there is a decanter of sherry w/ glasses, plus tea fixings and a jar of homemade chocolate chip cookies. The tea assortment was broad and interesting, including an organic Earl Grey and a chai that Alan found tasty.
I could go on and on about the bed linens, which are softer, smoother and more luxurious than any I've previously experienced. They are 51,228 count microfiber. My feet and legs loved the feeling of rubbing against them. They sell them there and we briefly considered buying some, except they would make our other sheets feel like muslin.
Breakfast was tasty and generous, w/ fresh fruit, cheese, chicken apple sausage, scrambled eggs w/ sliced red bell pepper, onion and mushrooms and mandarin orange bread pudding. Plus cereals. There are three tables in the dining room, one for 4, one for 6 and one for 8. There's also the option of having breakfast in one's room.
As we were returning the key to the innkeeper, Carol and Jim Beazley arrived in a rush of warmth and charm. We chatted w/ them and that completed our good impression of the place. I mentioned that I had heard the Armstrong Paint radio ads mentioning Beazley House on KJAZ years ago. We figured out that it must have been 1987. I asked about the Rainbow flag and Carol said they believed in marriage equality and that when the Napa City Counsel had failed to pass a resolution in support of gay marriage in March, Jim had been so angry he'd gone on the Internet to find a Rainbow flag to fly. This is a place we will return to and recommend.

It's an adorable craftsman B&B near downtown Napa. We were greeted by the gracious Innkeeper who showed us our cute "spring room" upstairs and later gave us a tour of the place. They have a cute living room with huge chocolate chip cookies, sherry, tea and tons of sodas you can drink for free. The cookies had big chunks of chocolate chips but just tasted ok. I was not blown over at all by them. Big living room with chairs you can lay back in and a huge backyard as well you can go lounge and get some sun. The Inn is very well kept and still has the old craftsman feel. Everything downstairs is a dark brown even the walls. It has over 15 rooms and each has a different theme but all have the Victorian/girly feel. Our room was very nice and I loved the sheets super soft and luxurious!!! The bathroom was attached and very roomy with tons of free toiletries. The only thing we noticed is the walls were a bit dirty and could use some new paint or maybe just some cleaning.
Next day we decided to try the free breakfast and I say pass. Fruit is average, eggs a bit runny, bread pudding had no taste and bacon was overcooked. You are better off just going downtown and getting a big breakfast since tons of places nearby that are yummy! Overall we slept great and decent experience overall but I was not wowed at all so 3 1/2 stars. The Innkeeper was very sweet and talkative giving us tips on wineries to stop at on our way home. One thing that was nice is that you can stay one night there instead of the whole weekend.

Would recommend it to others and come again.

Jessica is right, it's a lot like staying at your parents house.
We spent a night there and while I can't fault the accomodations in terms of quality, the style is just not my taste. Too "frufru" I guess. Chicks who dig that Victorian stuff will love it though.
The parental comment comes from my interaction with the owners. For example, we arrived at breakfast and without being asked if we wanted to sit alone or with others, were paired up with a newlywed couple. This is fine, but there were several other tables, and it would have been nice to have been asked.
Neither of us thought the cookies were all that amazing, frankly, But breakfast was tasty, overall.
If I had to stay in Napa again, I'd likely opt for the Inn on 1st, right next door.

Had a lovely stay at the Beazley House this weekend. The yard and gardens are spectacular, the breakfasts were delicious, and the service was great. Loved the Friday happy hour with wine and cheese. I really wouldn't change a thing. The best part was that my dog was welcome to stay with us. The house is historic and really well-maintained. It's also a very good deal compared to other hotel options in the Napa region.
Me and my husband stayed a night at the Beazley House during a trip to the Napa Valley area. It was our first time staying at a B&B and the Beazley house made it a very enjoyable experience. It was very easy to find and parking was easy. We were greeted by Collin who showed us around the home and even made resevations for us at a nearby Italian restaurant. He also gave us complimentary wine tasting passes to use for the next day. We stayed at the East Loft in the carriage house. Our room was very clean and spacious. We had a king size bed, a fireplace, a two person jet tub with a separate shower stall. Collin was kind enough to accomodate my husband's request for our wine which was brought up to our room after we got home from dinner. Breakfast was amazing. We met Mr.&Mrs. Beazley who served us a delicious meal. The dogs were very nice too!

Loved the Beazley House! We stayed in the carriage house...Enchanted Rose room. Huge, very comfy. From the moment we arrived we felt at home with the nice staff. Loved the history of the house and old feel. Beautiful all around. Very helpful staff helped us coordinate things. Breakfast was amazing, loved the mushroom artichoke flan and the chocolate chip cookies. Look forward to going back!
Amenities were pretty great.

I've been to B&Bs which felt like nothing more than a motel with a better continental breakfast than the Holiday Inn. The Beazley House is different.
Sure ... tt's got the knick-knacks, the Victorian Interiors, and the parlor. But it also had a bottomless cookie jar and bottomless sherry decanter, a staff intimately familiar with the area and eager to throw complimentary tasting passes at you, beautiful gardens, a swinging bench near a fountain, and delicious breakfast (feta frittata with ginger molasses muffins, yogurt and fresh berries & creme-caramel french toast with apple-sausage and fresh fruit). Beazley House has raised the standards for me on B&Bs.
It's a bit spendy, but if you're going with your honey, all you need is the Snug Room (the cheapest and smallest) to enjoy yourselves.

The Beazley House is magical. My partner and I and our doggie go there a few times each year for special events or to just get away. If I had to choose one phrase to describe The Beazley House, I would say they offer "graceful hospitality." Carol and Jim Beazley have created a very high benchmark for service in the Napa Valley.
Our favorite room is the Blossom View. It's in the separate Carriage House where dogs are allowed (we have a little papillon), and it includes a jetted tub in the room and a lovely tiled bath. There's also a fireplace and La-z-boy wingbacks. It's such a comfy room and the bed linens are like butter.
As was mentioned before, breakfast is awesome. We are a bit sociopathic, so the idea of eating at the same table with total strangers is a little odd for us. That's not a problem at the Beazley House. There are several tables in the dining room...large and small. You can choose to sit with others at a larger table, eat alone at a smaller table, or you can even have your breakfast delivered to your room or outside during good weather. There are often wine tastings on Friday evenings from local boutique wineries, too.
We pay a nominal fee to take our dog with us, but it's very reasonable based on fees we've paid elsewhere. They even provide a doggie bowl filled with treats, bags and doggie beer in the room. It's the details that make the Beazley experience incredible.
I had just returned from a trip overseas on Thanksgiving Day in 2007 and got sick on the drive up to Napa. We were spending a couple of days between business trips to celebrate our anniversary. I could tell it was going to be an interesting trip. The Beazleys and Wendy the innkeeper did everything they could to help. While I was lying nauseous on the bed, Wendy was able to suggest one of the few open restaurants on the holiday to make sure my partner could get something to eat. The following night, after a trip to the emergency room, the Beazleys were asking how I was feeling and we hadn't even seen them yet that trip. They even remembered our dog's name (Amelie) and treated her like she was their own.
I'm probably rambling, but we just love this place. The Beazley House has made us seriously consider running our own B&B one day. If we ever do, the Beazley House will be the model we hope to emulate.
Oh, and the cookies are incredible. They even give you the recipe. :-D

This was absolutely great!
For my boyfriend's birthday weekend celebration, we came here to relax and have dinner at Bouchon, and go off on a hot air balloon ride the next morning.
Check-In time is usually 6:30pm but we made arrangements to arrive later on. Check-out time is 12pm noon.
The house is fabulous! We stayed in the East Loft which is off in the cottage house behind the main house. Our bathroom consisted of a whirlpool jacuzzi tub and a standing shower.
I loved the details!! Even the toilet paper and kleenex were folded into pretty shapes. A nice note wishing my boyfriend a Happy Birthday. Great bath essentials along with makeup remover and bath salts. GREAT homemade cookies along with alcohol in the living room.
The staff was very nice, especially our innkeeper Mackenzie! She was the only one I communicated with through email before coming. She sent me a whole list of all the restaurants in the area by cuisine and a wine list and the room service foods they had available.
They serve breakfast until 10:30am. The dining room is very pretty and nicely decorated. There are books for you to just pick up and read while in your room or in the house.
The garden is very big and has benches and a swing!
I can go on and on about this place. Bottom line, it was one of the best experiences for a romantic weekend.
Oh yea their linens are 51,000 count! I slept like a baby.
Check-out was very fast and friendly. They sent us off with a special coupon for a discount for Napa Outlets and a whole brochure of B&B in CA, and best of all, the recipe for the chocolate chip cookies! Mmm!
The only negative I can see is that the whirlpool tub is only available from 8am to 11pm due to noise. We got back pretty late and couldn't use the jets but still did take a relaxing soak.
See pics!

We were highly impressed with our sun room.
It was absolutely beautiful and over looked the garden.
The sheets were like sleeping on clouds. The pillows perfectly fluffed.
THE COOKIES! OMG the cookies. Just divine.
Every last thing that you could think of was available.
I only wish we could have stayed longer.

No offense to the Beazley House, I'm sure it's great as B&Bs go, I'm just not sold on the whole B&B experience. I found it to be too much like staying at your parents house. The accomodations and staff were nice, the food was delicious, I think I'd just rather go to a hotel. We definitely enjoyed the in room whirl pool spa and the bed was quite comfy. My only complaint about the room is that the bathroom isn't fully closed off from the rest of the room. Sound privacy is just as important as visual privacy, IMO.
Chocolate chip cookies = to die for!

My hunnie and I stayed at the Beazley House for our honeymoon around October of 2005 & from our first step into the house the hospitality was amazing! The homemade cookies were to die for & the room was amazing.(Enchanted Rose) The in-room couples massage we got was the best we have ever had! it was very relaxing after all that wedding planning. We also love the fact that we can bring our "Furry Kids" Who would wait by the door every morning because they were so excited to go out into the gardens and play! The morning we left the staff was so kind and offered us breakfast to go (We also got some cookies to snack on for the road) we cannot wait to come back to paradise.
