Sacramento, CA
Such a great location, such mediocre food.
We had dinner here after a great day of skiing. It's a very Steakhousey feel inside -- dark, red, waiters in black and white. So dark that we couldn't even read the menu when we walked in and requested to see it; they had to bring us halfway into the restaurant.
Service was fine, but the waiter tried to suggestive sell something everytime he stopped at the table. It got ridiculous. I can only assume management must push their staff to do this; no waiter in a quality restaurant should have to do that, especially when entree prices start at $25 and soar into the $50-$60 range.
The dinner menu was extensive, portions were good (dont over order by getting multiple appetizers). Stay away from the blue cheese fritters -- bombs of fried cheese without much flavor. Do what you should do when you go to a steakhouse: order the steak. -

I haven't felt this compelled to write a review in a long time. In fact, I don't even know where to begin. Besides being in a GORGEOUS location, with stunning outdoor seating and beautiful indoor décor this place was a complete miss.
First, if you're a chophouse (STEAK HOUSE) please offer more than 1 steak on the lunch menu. Crazy.
Secondly, the bloody mary's were undrinkable, let alone worth $10 a piece!
The food was average at best. We had 2 salads, the sliders and the roast beef sandwich and all were edible but certainly not worth the price.
Finally, the amount of food that was made from a box, frozen or not prepared on the spot was shocking for a restaurant of this caliber.
The least I can say is they took 1 bloody mary and the sliders off our tab, and they were very kind to us. I wish I could give a better review. I'm still disappointed. :( -

Beaver Creek is AMAZING!! We were very much looking forward to having our last meal at the Beaver Creek Chophouse after a great day of skiing , before we headed to the airport.... We were BEYOND disappointed.
I usually write only positive reviews, but I feel the mediocre experience we had at the Chophouse can't be ignored. Mainly because I feel like we paid a lot of money for a really crappy meal.
The food is pretty bad and was certainly not worth the price! You can get a better cheeseburger from an airport hotel room service menu. Dry, flavorless, cold and overcooked. Minimal condiments. Bland french fires.
The waiter tried to up sell us on many items, and in fact was useless when it came to helping us figure out portion sizes etc... for our 10 year old. We ended up ordering more than we needed to. It was a waste of money and a waste of food, and all three of us had chronic stomach aches and headaches for the remainder of the day. Made for a really enjoyable drive to the airport!
Next time, we will eat at Beano's Cabin or somewhere else on the mountain. -

I had Chef Didi's Grostl (an Austrian stew of beef, onions, and potatoes) which was a great, hearty dish. Portions are huge, I could only each a quarter of the dish. It's a perfect lunch spot since it's right near the base of the ski lift. Easy to finish my run, take my skis off, and walk a few feet to grab lunch. Beer selection was decent and our server was nice. My friend liked her burger and fries. Nice ambiance and we were seated near the windows facing the slopes.

Restaurant was half empty when we got there but it still took the hostess 15 minutes to seat us. She was very nice about it though...
Drinks took a long time to come.
The appetizer and entrees came too close together.
The Red Trout and the Crab cakes were delicious.
Ambience was nice. -

I had a glass of whine... please join me...
The opera/symphony crowd showed up for a Bob Dylan song and instead they were given an old AM radio in back of the shed. Guess what? They may have liked your Bob Dylan song (your hamburger/ steak) but your shed (tent) did not impress, so the opera /symphony crowd (Beano's Cabin guests) will not be returning.
Shortsighted.
The owner has severe eye problems. He doesn't get it. We were "tented" and didn't like it. It was 12 degrees out at 7pm at night. The plastic tent and body mass index (BMI) of 20 people and pithy heater brought that up to about 30-35 degrees.
(Important back story to understanding this review: Chophouse partners with Beano's Cabin in being the "first-stop,sign-in, drink-relax,first-impression" pre sleigh ride up the mountain location. From all accounts of previous year's attendees, Chophouse always was a great and generous host in giving the Beano's group first rate service for their pre-dinner experience... Until this year when the game changed...)
The owner is obviously blowing a "free marketing" opportunity and I am SURE there is another bar/restaurant in Beaver Creek that would love to have 180 potential clients who are hungry and thrilled to be on their way to a once-in-a-lifetime experience show up for a drink and an introduction to his establishment.
After 10 years of hearing and reading about the amazing Beano's Cabin sleighride/five course meal experience, I was anticipating the evening with glee. Start at the Chophouse where you sign in to meet the sleigh, have a couple drinks or bottle of wine and head up the mountain to a heavenly evening.
Don't treat the opera/symphony crowd like they are teenagers sneaking a smoke in back of the barn. If you do not want the free marketing for hungry folk willing to drop money on good food, let another restaurant or bar partner with Beano's. As fast as you can say "free marketing" the sleigh ride group of 20 could be walking 2 blocks to meet the sleigh for 8 different dinner seatings.
We signed in with the jovial/beautiful/freezing Lynette from Beano's. When our Chophouse waitress in the cheap seats asked what we wanted my first thought was, "I would like to go inside, sit at the bar and order a real drink." So, that is what I said to her.
"You can't do that. I am your waitress and will get your drink and bring it here." {To this tent. On the ugly side of the building. With windows into the bar and restaurant. Where you cannot go. Because I am your waitress.}
"You are joking, right? Are you saying we cannot go inside? It is 35 degrees out here. In this tent where we get to look in at the glowing cheeks of happy people." {Where it is warm. Where there is music.}
"I am not joking. You cannot go inside. I am your waitress. What do you want? I will bring it to you." {You are not a "real" customer of our Chophouse as you have chosen to eat at Beano's Cabin and we don't owe you anything. You are just a drink to us. In a 35 degree tent. On the side of the building. I know it is cold because I am freezing. I am your waitress. I am as cold as you are.}
If another company with a great name where people routinely drop 150-250 a person for dinner told you that they would bring 180 potential clients to your bar nightly, would you be grateful and see it as free marketing for tomorrow night's dinner and a great guaranteed bar tab? Or would you be threatened? Anyone with an ounce of business sense would change this policy immediately and treat the heavy hitters like they are more than a one-night-stand.
Who would return after being treated to "the tent" in 12 degree weather?
First impressions are everything and for many, the handshake at Chophouse will not ever translate into a meal unless things change pronto.
I was there with 2 old friends who own a 5 bedroom condo on the mountain and were so angry that they talked about becoming yelpers themselves just to gift Mr. Chophouse a 1 star review. When perfectly nice, generous old friends discuss becoming yelpers just to give your restaurant experience one star, you know you are doing something wrong.
I implore you, change your policy. Allow the symphony/opera crowd to come in and stay awhile. They may find that Bob Dylan is not only more fun, but less whiny than they ever dreamed... -

Great view of the slopes while having lunch.
Ordered Chef Didi's Grolts, grilled onion, potatoes, beef chunks topped with crunchy napa and purple cabbage. I LOVE this dish, but the only one complaint I have is the beef was really dry and chewy.. Perhaps smaller slices would do the trick.
My bf had the lamb stew which was to die for and I have to agree. Stewed meat just seem so perfect on a snowy cold day! aahhh Makes me want to go back to Colorado... -

So since arriving in Beaver Creek / Bachelor's Gulch area 48 hours ago, we've been to Beaver Creek Chophouse three times already. It came highly recommended and did not let down.
The first time was for dinner - we went to celebrate our engagement (yes, I'm engaged!). We started with a couple of glasses of red wine, and then shared a bone-in rib eye steak along with sauteed crimini mushrooms, and steamed broccoli. We finished our meal with the apple pie a la mode. If I wasn't on cloud nine, I would've sent the steak back to be cooked more, but the fact that it was pretty much red near the bone didn't even phase me.
We returned today for some hot chocolate and hot tea after a morning of skiing (great powder I will add). J and I ended up staying for lunch... I had the soup and sandwich combo which happened to be tomato florentine soup and a tuna sandwich on multi grain bread. J had a crab cake sandwich. Service during lunch was much better than service during dinner.
Finally, we visited what we now refer to as 'our table,' for a couple of glasses of wine and some cheesecake dessert. We're here in the area for another few days so chances are, we'll return again... but if not this trip, for sure in the future. If you're in the Beaver Creek Village, stop by for lunch or for a drink - enjoy!Listed in: Beaver Creek / Bachelor Gulch…

Average steakhouse menu. Average prices too. No surprises here. The mac and cheese was very disappointing. They have several varieties. We tried the truffle..... very little if any truffle flavor, texture was a bit off. I've definitely had better. My steak the 18oz ribeye was tasty and tender but overcooked. My wife had the salmon which she loved. Best thing we tried was the fried brie, decadent and everything you could want in a food after a day of skiing or boarding.
Probably wouldn't come back for dinner but seems like a good place to go for a fancy lunch or apres ski. They have infused vodkas which will warm you up in a hurry.
Service was a bit slow for that type of place and food took a long time to come out.
Solid but nothing special -

Free champagne at 3 is pretty cool! But I have to say I am tired of ordering medium burgers in America... and getting well done... Hey chef... I'm a server and a better cook than you!

I'm still working my way through the restaurants at Beaver Creek, but the Beaver Creek Chop House would be hard to beat.
We came here with a group of people and had a great lunch. Service was pretty good, although it got slow in spots. It's right at the foot of the lifts, so the view was very nice.
I had the pulled pork sandwich. Nice large serving of pork, with a nice BBQ sauce. There was so much pork that I had to ask for more sauce. It came with french fries, which were done perfectly.
My wife had the homemade turkey pot pie, and it was very tasty. Very hearty, warming, and filling. Highly recommended.
Others in our party had the burger, baby back ribs, and Italian wedding soup, and they thought they were all excellent. Prices were very reasonable considering the location (especially compared to the Ritz). Burger and other sandwiches were $10-12. Less than half the Ritz, and I though the quality was just as good, if not better.
I will definitely eat here again. -

Don't bother unless you are in the mood for being berated by the hostess. The night we were there, and it was early, she was mean and nasty to every single person she encountered. She also was too lazy to get a family a high chair/car seat stand for their newborn so she made us give up our seat that had all of our coats in it she wouldn't have to get the safer alternative. The restaurant was empty and there were plenty of empty seats but really she should have gone for the high chair setup.
The food was not that great to make up for hostess from h@#$'s horrible treatment of the clientele and even the staff. -

Don't go for Apres.
I've been to the Beaver Creek Chophouse for dinner before (granted it was the off-season and was pratically the only restaurant open in Beaver Creek village), and had a decent time. Nothing to write a "wow" review about, but nothing to get me on my soap box.
However, when a small group of us decided to venture to the Chop House for a celebration happy hour/apres ski drink and appetizers, I left perched atop my soap box and ready to wag my yelping finger at them.
In a ski town, accomodating the apres crowd is important. These are people who have skied by day and are ready to unwind with a beverage or two recounting tales of powder stashes and brushes with death on the slopes. Beaver Creek Chophouse doesn't get it. We walked in at 4pm and were told by the hostess "sit where ever you like, but we have some 5pm dinner reservations on the books, so you'll need to leave by then."
Huh?
"Can we wait for a table in the bar area so that we won't have to leave at 5pm?"
Nope, those are for dinner guest as well.
So we sat down and thought maybe we could sweet talk our waitress into letting us stay. Drinks, apps, more drinks...I'm thinking our check could end up comparable to a family of four at dinner...she should want us to stay.
Nope. Server says sweetly "If you order, I'll make sure to get it to you quick so that you can leave by 5pm". Thanks, but not the answer we were looking for here.
So we left. We went to the Dusty Boot where we had champagne, appetizers, margaritas, and sat at our table until 6pm without ever getting asked to leave. -

Tonight, they were great. Ask to be seated with Anita. Try the spinach salad. We split the 18 ounce, bone-in, Rib-Eye. It was superb and splitting it was just right; we each got plenty. Wine was overpriced but what isn't in Beaver Creek?!

I've been here several times and the food is usually good. Unfortunately, the service is routinely terrible. They try to rush you through dinner. When I dined there last week, the table we were at was in a bad location with people constantly rushing by. When we stopped the manager to tell him this, he was extremely rude and basically said tough luck. This was unacceptable. Based on this and other experiences, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The Beaver Creek Chophouse has some of the best food in Beaver Creek. We enjoyed a very tasty meal on a crowded New Year's Day evening. Our food was all very hot and of excellent quality, you can't go wrong with either the steaks, chops or fish. For families with kids there are a wide variety of very good children's meals.
The restaurant tends to be very crowded and loud during busy times, so this isn't your best bet for an intimate conversation. Be aware that BCCH uses "team" service, so you might find that some of your requests will fall through the cracks.
Don't miss the Beaver Creek Chophouse when you are in Beaver Creek. -

Our group ate here for lunch after a day of skiing. The restaurant is located next to the Centennial lift at Beaver Creek Mountain. The service was great, our food came quickly (but not too quickly). I had a hamburger, and it was delicious. Cooked perfectly. My friend had the fish tacos and she said they were very good. My husband had the sliders and fries, and said the sliders were good, but the fries were fantastic. Great patio dining for apres ski. Enough room for larger groups, and a great bar. This restaurant is on the pricey side (but then so is food served on the mountain), but I would recommend going there at least once.

Just because it's owned by Vail Resorts, that Evil Giant Vampire Squid of a company, doesn't mean it's a rip off or not professionally run. Expectations of this sort of slopeside restaurant are minimal, but this place is good; really good; shockingly good; and the prices are not too bad. The pulled barbeque brisket sandwich is tender and the sauce not too sweet, like somebody knows what they are doing in the kitchen. Did I say shocking? The tuna burger, ground tuna with soy, ginger and other spices (maybe a little wasabi?) would rival that at Union Square Cafe in New York if it only had a fresh baked brioche bun, but hey, this is ski resort food. Fried sweet potatoes are freshly cut and done perfectly. The salads are fresh and somehow in December they find greens with flavor and moisture. The whole place is a pleasant surprise and by the way, just kidding about the Evil Giant Vampire Squid of a company, but cute term though.
David, great review on 12/25, but if you looked over at my tuna burger you would of seen that it was WELL done, no respectable union square person would allow that on her plate. I could not even eat it!
