Review from Roland L.
San Francisco, CA
I had a horrible time at that fancy lingerie shop on 4th Street, so I came here. The saleswoman Marissa was extremely helpful. As another reviewer has said, she cuts to the chase and kept bringing over tons of bras to try on. She was straightforward about what works, what doesn't, and the fitting was really efficient. i bought a ton of stuff in the end. Somehow she convinced me to buy things without even trying.
I have to say that the selection is more practical in terms of design, but I appreciate great salesmanship and this store delivers. -

great selection of brands, styles & sizes. I am a sucker for the matching bra & undies, of which they have lots.
sales staff are friendly. sometimes the dog that hangs out there is NOT.
make a beeline for the sales racks, you can get some awesome deals there. -

Salespersons Super helpful, thoughtful, and curtious.
But- often dont have the product(s) that are quite right for me. -

Awesome selection of the most comfy and sexy bras, a huge sale bin, and the sweetest, most helpful customer service gals! Disregard all the negative reviews and drop in - it will be well worth your visit even if you're looking for an affordable snag. When it comes to our breasts, ladies, a bra that we'll have for years ought to be comfortable and hot! I found a bunch of these in the $30 range. Woot!

Review from Melissa B.

Huh, interesting mix of reviews, here! I was fine with the service, as I didn't require much of them, the girls seemed friendly enough.
I imagine all of the provocative older ladies of Berkeley strutting around their Arts and Crafts Bungalow's in their bamboo fabric robes, or perhaps a blousy little silk number, or maybe their paisley PJ pants feeling just sooooo lovely.
Well, you go on with your bad selves, ladies! I stopped in after a certain type of Dr.s appointment, because I wanted to pamper myself a little and I thought I might stop in on the way to Peets. Score! Huge Sale!
Really, the sales are the only racks I seriously shopped. I was searching for wireless bras to replace the Ipex type I have worn to death from Victoria's Secret, but they had nothing on Sale that was my size/comparable style.
Bra wise, in the non-sale rack, Ugh, the wireless styles reminded me of an older Portuguese woman I once knew, and not in a fond way! I'm not 70 yet! Pretty tame selection of styles and colors. This is where shopping online is hard to be beat, in terms of selection; I hate to say it.
On a positive note, I did find a really cute camisole with a lined bralett, and when I was being rung up, the girl pointed out a pair of matching panties for $5. Cool, so the set was about $25, which I would consider the going rate, plus, BONUS points when I got home and realized the stuff was made in Canada, not Cambodia for a change!
So, let's recap- Beauty and Attitude caters to a specific clientele- older North Berkeley Betty's with Boobies, and *maybe* their very practical gift giving husbands who can perhaps shop for himself, as well, (men's underwear is in stock) yet not become terrified upon entrance. You can do it, guys, get the wife some nice Pajamas you enjoy, too!
They also carry some cute bathing suits, hosiery, Spanx, socks, 'shape-wear' (if you know what I mean) slippers, falsies ; ), special underwear for bike riding (?), and other excellent items. I will be back in here on occasion, when I'm not indulging my pantie buying bootie at places like Ross and Nordstrom Rack.Listed in: Born to Shop, Review of the Day!

After a particularly dreary day, I came home to find a $150 gift certificate for Beauty & Attitude in my mail box!! Someone loves me enough to make sure I indulge in one of my "habits".
OK, so I have too many undergarments that could never be considered for everyday wear. But wear them everyday, I do! And I can't wait to get over to see the B&A gals to get my latest round of underlovelies.
Hey, you never know when someone might get a chance to see you in your underwear. Better prepared than not, I say.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Warning: the review you are about to read contains severe overuse of the word...AMAZING!
I had always worn VS and have been sorely disappointed in the way they (did not!) fit my deflated boobs. Let me tell you that this amazing woman found the most amazing bras to show off what I got and let me tell you, my post baby boobs look, well, amazing! (you were warned!) I was so afraid that the girls would never be my pride and joy again. Fear not! I once again can hold my head high and my chest out for the world to admire...well, at least my DH admires them. :)
You must go to Beauty & Attitude for their knowledge, warm, friendly service, advice, experience...simply amazing. They even played stack the little pink thong boxes with the kiddo while I tried on SO many amazing brassiers. It truly was like shopping with your best girlfriend! -

For the ladies. Beautiful selection of good quality underclothes and sleepwear! The staff was ultra helpful and attentive--the woman who helped me shuttled back and forth from the floor to the dressing room to bring me about 20 different bras in the search of the elusive perfect fit. The dressing room area was nicely lit and comfortable, and I didn't have to leave it once.
On the first Friday of the month, they offer a bra-fitting "happy hour" from 4-7pm, and this is when bras are 10% off. Definately go then, because the prices are a little on the "precious" side. -

I have a fondness for great lingerie and I am somewhat less-than- frugal...let's just say that I am more than willing to drop a bundle on beautiful little things. This spot serves it up in a friendly, helpful manner...the sales people do not pressure, rush, or ignore you. They go out of their way to find sizes and items you express interest in and the store carries a wide range of styles and prices.
Every day needs? They have them. Something special? Yep, they have those, too, as well as a nice selection of stockings, tights, and occasionally, socks. They also carry a small and very tasteful selection of mens' underwear and they have bathing suits during Spring and Summer.
This is my go-to place when I am staying in my own neighborhood and it is such a great addition to the Walnut Square shopping area. I return whenever I can. -

If I was only rating the people who worked here, this would be a five-star review. The lovely saleswoman who helped me was the perfect mix of attentive and casual and I heard the other saleswoman being very helpful to the other customer in the store.
All of this said, the selection is a little...lacking and old-ladyish. I'm not looking for spangled Frederick's wear, but the bras were very conservative and uninteresting, and available in many department stores for less money. I guess this caters more to the Berkeley Hills types who don't want the mess and fuss of going across the Bay.
The underwear was all mashed together and really hard to look at and the dressing rooms...don't go in unless you have a heapin' helpin' of self-esteem, because these ill-lit, dingy yellowish rooms will NOT inspire. The carpet is dirty looking, and I really didn't want to put my clothes on the floor, but had no choice as there weren't any extra hooks or chairs. Booo.
I got a decent DKNY bra (from last year), but will probably not be going back. -

I've sent so many women to this shop, I should be on their payroll (but I'm not, for real). As an aqua aerobics teacher, I'm in the business of helping women of all shapes and sizes make the most of their figures...and Beauty and Attitude can do for them what I can't.
If you are under the false impression that a comfortable bra is a soft, unstructured, stretchy number with no seams and little support --- get over it, and get over to this shop ASAP. Since Beauty & Attitude showed me the light, I'll never pay less than fifty bucks for a bra again. Yes, that's right, neither beauty nor attitude come cheap when it comes to MY boobs, believe me. I'm stacked, and the engineering that does me justice must be paid for. Yet my sister, who's barely A, also found the most adorable little lacey bra here, with birds and ribbons and all manner of Frenchy-type cuteness, well worth her thirty-plus bucks.
The genius of Beauty & Attitude is the combo of selection and service. Everything in the place is gorgeous, but since there's no fit standard in the women's apparel industry, you need a salesperson to cut to the chase. As in, "Elle McPherson, no way honey, her stuff is gonna leave welts on your back no matter what size you try.... but Wacoal will be perfect!" (They will actually allow you to try the Elle McPherson though, if you have time to waste...they're not control freaks.)
This shop does what Nordstrom does, but right here in your very own neighborhood, and without making you wait around for service. It's clearly by and for women, yet they also managed to steer my husband toward the perfect silk pj's and featherweight chenille robe a few Christmases ago. (He kind of blew it by adding his own personal touch to the gift box, a "Spanx" body shaper that promised to smooth and flatter my, ahem, already quite smooth and firm backside... the shop graciously exchanged it, unworn and indeed untouched, for a store credit.)
The reviewer who says some of their styles may be available in department stores for less may be right. But how near is the nearest department store? Walnut Creek? Corte Madera? A BART ride to SF? 'Nuff said. -

Nice, cute shop in a super cool hood. I stopped in here for a gander and saw some beautiful lingerie and other assorted cute pajamas. They also have a lovely selection of bras, so I decided to try some on. My friend was with me and also in need of some bras. To make the point perfectly clear, we both needed bras and were ready to buy some. At an average price of $63 to $70 a bra, I expect good customer service.
One of the saleswomen started assisting me. When I realized that they did not have any of the styles I wanted in my size, other options were suggested. I am not familiar with the designer, but the saleswoman assured me that I should try them on. The saleswoman informed me that she needed to see it on me to assess the fit and we would go from there. I started trying on the bras, but she never came back. It is a small shop, so I could see and hear the saleswomen nearby talking with another customer in the store. When I realized that the 'customer' she was engaged in deep conversation with was not bra shopping and they were chit chatting about this women's brother's cousin's niece's friend who knows someone competing in the Olympics (and not helping me - a paying customer) - I got extremely annoyed and decided to take my business elsewhere.
I'm not an idiot and perfectly capable of finding my own items in a store, but you ladies will agree with me on this. Bras are a different story. Fit and cut are particularly important. The cousins need to look their best at all times. And if you haven't purchased bras for awhile, lost weight and your boobs shrank a wee bit, AND are not familiar with the designers - you want some help.
In closing - if you actually need bras, need to find them in your size and need a salesperson to help you? Don't shop here. -

They weren't able to find anything for my hard-to-fit bust, in fact, they don't carry my size. But they carry all the usual sizes, and and they have wonderful taste. They even have seamed nylons!
The salesperson who worked with me was persistent and helpful and sweet. -

I've loved this place from the beginning. The first time I went in was to buy something sexy-but-comfortable to wear under my wedding gown. My then-fiance was with me at the time, and I remember how reluctant he was to accompany me on this particular errand. But the saleswoman was really friendly and casual, AND her very well-behaved dog was chilling behind the counter, which cheered up my husband, who scratched the dog's ears while I started searching the racks with the saleswoman. I'm hard to fit (34 DDD or even F), especially in something strapless for under a wedding dress. But they found something that worked great, and even hinted to my husband that they'd remember him, and me, and my size, if he ever wanted to duck in again to find a gift for me.
And guess what? He did, and they actually did remember him, and me, and my size. My lingerie-store-fearing husband bought me some bras and panties that *actually fit* and that I really like for my birthday that year.
I've been back in person myself many times since then, and while they don't always have something in my size in stock, they're always just as friendly and helpful as the first time I went in, and always willing to place a special order for me.
Yes, you'll spend more money here than at a big department store, and yes, it's a small shop so the selection is a little limited, but the service is fantastic and the goods they carry are excellent quality. -

Though I can hop over to Marshals and pay 75% less for a bra, you do need to get fitted at least once in your life. Sticker shock, yes, but they do have a great selection.
The sales staff are very helpful and casual which helps.
If you dont get anything else, you cannot leave without a few pairs of the 100% silk boyleg/hipster undies! -

The women who work here care, and are great at finding you the best styles for both support, looks, and practicality.
It's best when you're shopping for every-day bras or if you're someone who puts the utmost importance on fit more than anything else. They have a small selection of sleepwear and a large selection of fun panties that are great for gifts.
I prefer alla prima in the city or a la folie on 4th street in berkeley, but both have overall a much more expensive price point than the things carried at Beauty and Attitude. -

At the urging of a good friend, Beauty and Attitude was at the top of my list for "must visit" on my recent trip to the Bay Area. She knew I'd never been fitted for a bra before & that I was accustomed to wearing some pretty basic VS stuff...most of which I never felt really worked for me.
Well...I can't say enough about the incredibly positive experience I had at B&A. Leigh & Julie worked tirelessly with me to find the right fit, with an eye for beauty and practicality. I walked away with several gorgeous bras and tank tops, all of which flatter my figure and are comfortable enough to wear all day. They carry a wide selection of extremely high quality and affordable designs...I know it may seem pricey to some, but I've bought enough other lingerie that was this expensive and not nearly as wonderful as the pieces I bought from B&A, so I feel as though what I found here is a great value.
The staff here is very unpretentious, professional, and personable without giving you a hard sell. In fact, they do just what I appreciate most...they present you with a myriad of options, allow you to try everything, help you with adjustments, they tell the truth about how it really looks and fits, and then let you make up your own mind about what you like best. I found them to be very knowledgeable about fitting and style...and very gracious about getting it all exactly right so that I left feeling great about my purchases.
I highly recommend these wonderful women who work this wonderful shop! I had a fabulous experience here. -

I found the shop inviting, contemporary and Danielle the manager was just as helpful as the previous reviewer described.
I'm a size 34F - not the easiest size to find stocked in a non-online store, so I didn't hold that against the shop when Danielle, the manager, was unable to find me any. But she didn't give up, she brought me several pretty bras to try in 34DDDs. Sadly, they were all a bit too snug, but in the process, a 34F was discovered in the sale bin which fit great and looked elegant and sexy. It was a Chantelle (this brand is great quality and normally runs $65-$80) so getting it for 1/2 off was a major score! Wow, was I ever glad I stopped in.
Plus, when I made a comment to Danielle how challenging it can be to find bras in my size, she offered to special order a bra in my size in a brand I knew fit me well (Felina). The store requires a small deposit to do so, but what customer service! So glad I found this little gem, I'll definitely make it a point to visit again. -

When my girls want a nice new house, this is the real estate agent for them! Bras, panties, jammies, robes, slips, camisoles, bustiers - this is the place. WARNING: This is a real quality lingerie store, not that polyester halloween junk they sell at Victoria's Secret.
You can go sexy or straight here, with the most delectable little pieces of fluff, beautifully made, from the world's lingerie capitals (Paris, Rome, Rio) or that sturdy jog-bra and work-out panties.
Stay-up stockings, the no-bra bra, really nice selection of thongs, tanga, boy shorts, bikinis, whatever your style is, this place will help you out. On top of that, there are salespeople here that remain, miraculously, completely unpretentious while being very knowledgeable. Gentlemen, this is the place to get the gift certificate for your gal, and while you're there, you might even find some cute boxers for your own bad self. -

I spent more money here in one trip than I have spent on bras in the last ten years combined. Not kidding. However, I came here expecting to spend some money. I'm not 20 anymore and I realize that sometimes you need to pay more for a few quality things, rather than buy a bunch of cheap stuff.
Since I just finished nursing a baby, I needed new bras (nursing bras = too big, pre-baby bras = too small), and I wanted help. I was a little anxious going in, as I don't like underwires and have a hard time finding non-underwire bras. The sales person was very helpful and nice and offered a lot of non-underwire options. She showed me some things about how to tell whether a bra fits properly, was reassuring about body shape changing (and even made jokes about her own body shape), and brought me new bras to try on. She wasn't pushy or aggressive about getting me to buy things, either. Plus she was cute (ok, this wasn't a requirement for appreciating her service, but I don't have as many opportunities to hang out half-dressed with attractive women as I used to).
I am definitely happy with the style and comfort of the bras I bought. Bonus: I feel good about supporting this friendly local business. -

Found this place on Yelp so I'll do you a turn and review it here. I am not a frequent shopper of lingerie so I cannot tell you about relative values/price/quality, but it was easy to shop here for an unfamiliar purchase
I can tell you that I had a good shopping experience here, was ably helped by 2 floor saleswomen, chatted with another, was left to wander on my own- a good thing, was engaged by the saleswomen so that they could elicit information and make suggestions, that I didn't feel pressured to accept their suggestions but in the end I did accept and wife was thrilled by the purchase. I looked at many garments prices and they seemed reasonable to me (my item a negligee was about $75- maybe a mid point in that category.) One saleswoman wrapped the item so expertly, I was very impressed. They offered a gift receipt also good. They seemed like really nice people, who work hard for your business.
The offerings they had seemed about 30% on the sexy, sheer side, about 30% sleep/ lounge/ robe wear, and 30% bra & panties and 10% candles, soaps, etc. I don't think they are extremely high end but seemed to me to offer a good price to value ratio.
In these times, I think it important to shop locally, to circulate those hard earned $ in our community. 5*- As good as it gets? I don't know but I do know that I felt good about my experience there. -

their selection consists of mostly the no frills, basic, affordable underpinnings. you probably won't find anything out of the ordinary but you'll see brands such as dkny, calvin klein, hanky panky and elle macphereson. most pieces are under $80 so you won't have to worry about blowing your monthly rent here.
the sales staff is quite helpful and will usually ensures that you'll find something just right. -

I love this store. They're friendly. They'll work with you for FOREVER to find you the perfect fit, and if you don't end up with something, they're okay with that, too. I go in every few weeks just to see what they have that's new. They're happy to order for you, too, but it takes a long long time to get it.

Nice selection and reasonable prices. My only complaint is that the manager doesn't seem that experienced with a tape measure. She measured me, but the tape was very loose around me and the size was way off. After some adjustments, I did leave with two bras and I am very hard to fit.

All you ladies who have never been to a lingerie shop should come here. Most women do not wear the correct bra size but they will solve that problem here. It doesn't matter if you are big or small they have something for everyone. But be prepared it is a bit pricey but well worth it for the top notch service and perfect fit.

Sadly, I only discovered this store today. Not so sadly, I still have a year and a half of my college career to spend money here. It may look like a small boutique from the outside, but they a serious selection goin on in the inside. They have some really beautiful pajama sets and teddies and also contemporary bras and underwear. They do have basics, but also have some lacy numbers in the mix.

I am a full-figured girl with a small rib cage and waist and I often have a hard time finding bras/lingerie that fit. I love Victoria's Secret, but have a hard time finding anything that fits me. I usually have to shop at Lane Bryant, which I have always been a little embarrassed about (mostly because their bras, although fully supportive, are rather boring). I was so pleased to find a store that offered such a wide variety not only of styles, but also of sizes. I was pleased with the service as well as the prices, which for the most part are what I would have paid at Victoria's Secret. It really made my day to be able to walk out of a store with a cute and comfortable bra. I will definitely be a regular customer!

They've got the best selection of Le Mystere bras on either side of the bridge, and bless them for that. They've also got that nice system where you can have your own 'wish list' on an index card in case someone special wants to buy you something and doesn't want that awful, deer-in-headlights, paralysis that leads to hot pink trash and bad rashes Not Macy's cheap, not A La Folie expensive.

As I tried to readjust my stretched out, cheap bra for the millionth time the other day, I decided that I'd finally had enough. It was time to go shopping for some nice bras that actually fit! Beauty and Attitude was the perfect place for my shopping excursion. The staff was friendly, attentive, and gave me lots of advice without rushing me at all. They paid attention to the styles I was looking for, and helped me adjust everything I tried on. They even advised me against a $100 bra and told me the $50 option fit better. So yeah, it's pricey, but you're getting high quality lingerie and great service. Nice selection as well--practical AND fun!

I've only been here once, but the customer service was amazing. I needed a bra to wear with my wedding dress, and I'd had a really tough time finding something. I'm not super-knowledgeable about lingerie, and I really needed assistance finding the right thing. What I got here was a little less expensive than what I'd seen at Victoria's Secret, so I think it was pretty reasonably priced. The staff was very knowledgeable, and truly they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.

Review from C S.
Boston, MA
The women in this shop were wonderfully nice, but they sold me bras that were too big!! (My sister was with me an bought 2 bras and is happy with one but not the other.) This is not the place to go if you don't know what size you are or generally don't really know what you're looking for.
The woman who helped my sister and I was very nice, but she didn't actually measure me (which i later learned they don't do, they fit you by bring out bras and looking at you) and sold me two 36C bras, one a wacoal bra with no molding that barely keeps me up after wearing the bar one week! (And it was $60!) They felt much better than the Victoria Secret bras I had been wearing but they were too big and I really was relying on the salewoman's advice on size and style. Even though I had some misgivings about the bras I bought, the woman was so nice I returned to B&A a couple weeks later needing a strappless bra for a bridesmaid dress. Again I wasn't meaured and a second woman (also very nice) sold me a 36C again. Then I asked to see other everyday bras since the two I bought there a couple weeks earlier weren't working. She was very nice, had me try on tons of bras and now that I'm getting the hang of this I could tell that none of them were quite right even if I didn't know why. So I just bought the strappless bra that I assumed was supposed to be uncomfortable. Well, turns out I am NOT a 36C! After one month the first two bras lossened and since I started on the very last hook there is no way to make it tighter. I went to Nordstroms and was properly measured, not just by eye like the women did here but with a measuring tape and a bra they use for cup size. I'm a 34D! The first woman who helped me at B&A convinced me that I had "sloping shoulders" (sounded plausable) and I just would have a hard time finding a bra whose straps didn't fall. Turned out, since I am not a 36, the straps were just set too far apart. At Nordstoms, every single bra they brought out fit! I couldn't believe it! Amazing what getting the size right will do and no falling straps.
Luckly, I still had the tags on the strappless bra and went to return it today. They didn't have the same bra in my size but I have an appointment for a fitting for the dress and the seamtress needs you to have the bra you'll wear to fit the dress properly. So I tried on a different strappless in my size -- so much more confortable! The problem is that it was $14 more than the bra I had originally bought. The woman felt badly that I had spent $130 on bras that didn't fit me properly and had to spend Mother's Day changing my strappless bra but not badly enough to say hey, we messed up and I don't have your bra in your size to do an even exchange which is also my bad, take the bra that fits you and let's call it even. No, they had me pay them $14 more dollars and gave me a 10% discount card for the "next time." I was not thrilled about dropping even more money here. Well, needless to say there won't be a next time. It was an expensive learning experience. I am glad I finally learned my size and have gotten a crash course in bra design but I will buy all my bras at Nordstroms from now on. So dissappointed that a small local shop where I would much rather spend my money didn't work out. Again, the women here are nice, really nice but that's not a good enough reason to throw money out the window. -

I love this store. The people who work here are really nice and don't pressure you. They have nice lingerie and organic cotton underwear. Their prices are good, too. Not too expensive, but not too cheap.
