I looooove Tina!
She is super sweet and talented. I came in for a quick hair fix, since the $10 previous haircut I had gotten done by a student 6 weeks ago, made me look like I was a back in fourth grade with shapeless blunt cut hair.
My hair is really thick and really straight, so it just wasn't working for me anymore.
I showed her a picture of what I wanted and I was in and out in 20 min!

After reading Yelp reviews, I decided to give Tina a try. This salon was pretty easy to find right… Read more »
I was originally recommended to Tina by a co-worker, and have continued coming back for the past 6+ years! Before I started seeing Tina, I was going to a fancy place that charged my around $130 for a basic trim and highlight (I had a pixie cut at the time), and it took 3 hours! Beausejour was a breath of fresh air, charging me a fraction of what I was previously paying, and taking only about an hour and a half for cut, color (2-3 colors weaved in) and style. I always carry extra business cards with me, so that when I'm complimented on my do, I can refer people over. Thanks to Tina and Beausejour, you can still look fab in this challenging economy and not break the bank!
WHAT. THE. EFFFFF!!!
I came here yesterday because I was a bridesmaid for my friend, Sabrina's, wedding and she set up an appointment to have her and all her bridesmaid's hair done here since she cut a deal with the owner, Tina, to have each person only pay $35 for their up-do.
I'm a very punctual and organized person so I made sure I came early even before all the entourage came to get my hair done so that Tina would have plenty of time to work on all our hair and I brought THREE pictures of how I wanted my up-do. When I got there and Tina looked at the pictures, she asked if I would be willing to cut my bangs shorter to make it look more like the picture. I literally said, "Not really. I think you can just curl my bangs to make it a bit shorter, but if you need to trim it a little, maybe." And then she cut me off and said, "I think one reverse french twist is better to keep the hair up." I'm very open-minded so I said "Okay, whatever you think will make it look good." So she did the one french twist and then I thought she'd do the rest of the hair the way I wanted it in the picture, but not at all. Then she puts one of those sheets to cover my body and I thought that was because she was going to spray my hair with water or something... she grabs my bangs and I thought she was going to curl it... I didn't get a good view but then... CHOP!!! She cuts off THREE INCHES of my bangs that I've spent ONE YEAR growing out!!! WHAT THE EFFF!!! I was so effing pissed! Even if I would give her the go ahead to cut my hair, which I didn't, because "MAYBE" does not mean "yes, please chop off my bang without even asking me how short", it is COMMON SENSE to ASK the client, "Okay, I'm going to cut this part, is this length okay?" Stupid biatch. And then she took these other clippers and started clipping at my hair and that's when I told her to stop.
I came in for an up-do. My hair is parted on the side so she chopped off ONE SIDE of my bangs for a hairdo that I'm only going to have for a couple of hours! So she really thinks it's okay to let someone walk around with have the bangs on their head chopped off and then the other half of their bangs long? That makes no sense. What kind of hair stylist with think that it's ok to chop off one side of bangs by 3 inches for a hairdo that will only last a few hours? Obviously, not a smart one.
A lot of the reviews say she's fast but she's fast cause she's in a rush to get you out. I was only in there for about 10 minutes. Obviously, doing an up-do for someone that only takes 10 minutes means you didn't put ANY effort in it whatsoever. She had the NERVE to tell me it's an extra $5 for the "haircut". Again, WHAT THE EF! I was horrified and wasn't thinking and I paid her and I ran out of there. I called the bride and the rest of the wedding entourage was with her. I told her what happened and how mad I was and the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to cry because it took me a year to grow out my bangs! I also wanted to tell the bride because since she was about to go there with the rest of the entourage to get their hair done, I wanted them to be really careful and make sure Tina does exactly what they wanted. The bride was pissed and went there to ask Tina to give me my money back, but Tina said all sales are final. I can't believe that she thinks that doing an up-do that she only spent 10 minutes on and chopping off someone's hair for a hairdo that they will only wear for a few hours and then not giving them their money back is okay. That horrible work ethic and I BAN this place.
ZERO STARS!!!
The bride and the rest of the bridesmaid's hairdo turned out the way they wanted it because Sabrina was on Tina's ass. My hair was by far, the ugliest of all the bridesmaids and here I thought that going early and being organized would benefit me... Do yourself a favor, put this on your "unethical business to not go to" list. It's cheap for a reason.
P.S. Now I'm walking around with half of my bangs chopped off. Thanks a lot for ruining my hair for an updo Tina!
I'll definitely make a return visit!
I had a pedicure and a hair cut. In all honesty the pedicure was good, but not great. i think the girl that worked on me was still learning. Another lady came by a few times to guide and advise her on some techniques. Overall she still did a good pedicure. Even a nice foot massage came with the service!
Then I got a "styled" hair cut which I was really pleased with. I let the hair dresser give me suggestions on a style since I had no idea what I should do with it. She did a great job. I took note of how fast she styled my hair which to me shows her experience.
So after watching Ocean's Twelve I decided to go get a manicure and pedicure. If Bernie Mac can do it I can do it.
The manicure was alright. I mean, what the hell would I know? I don't get them painted or frenched. But the pedicure was a little rough. I like it rough, but not when it comes to my feet. The price for both was a cool $25
After a series of haircuts/styles where I was starting to pay over $100 everytime I went in, my hair went on strike and I didn't get it cut or dyed for a while. I decided to try again and on the recommendations of friends went to cheaper places where I got okay haircuts but they weren't the best. Yeah, I know, you get what you pay for.
And then, my dad went to this place to get his hair trimmed by Tina. And then my mom started going to her also. So then I decided, why not? and then I went to her as well. She's super quick and gives me great haircuts. okay, so I know I don't have the most interesting hairstyle but i'm still very impressed and keep going back. And I can actually go to Tina every couple months and not feel guilty about it whereas before each haircut was a small dent in the bank account. Maybe one of these days i'll get my hair highlighted by her but for now, I just go there for super quick haircuts that i've been happy with.
I moved into the area not to long ago and I wanted find a nail place close to home and relied on Yelp. It was my first time at a hair and nail place to get my nails done. I usually only go to places that do nails only. Now I know why. I felt kind of weird with guys getting hair cuts in a place where I'm getting my feet scrubbed. But maybe that's just me?
They would have gotten a higher rating EXCEPT:
The Call
I knew I was going to be working late, so I called the place up and asked them what time they closed. "7pm" the lady replied. Then I asked what time was their latest available appointment a PEDI and MANI. "6:30pm", the lady replied. I was afraid of keeping them past their closing time and getting a rushed job, but I figure the woman knew what she was talking about.
I get their on time at 6:30pm but I sit around for 10 minutes waiting for one of their nail people to finish. Their were 2 other women getting their nails done at the time and I could tell by the looks of it that I was going to be the last one out. and I was.
The Pedi:
Pros:
Chairs have roller massages (not just vibrations)
Service was friendly
They were in such a rush to get through my pedi that it was done in 15 minutes. There was hardly a massage and barely a scrub. You could just tell she wanted to get out of there as fast as she could.
The Mani:
Pro: Messed up nail was fixed even though they were in a rush to get out.
Same as the Pedi except by 7pm all the employees were gone and it was just the girl working on me and desperately trying to finish up to go home. Mind you she was still painting my nails and they haven't even had the chance to sit in front of a fan and dry yet.
By 7:15 it was lights out, the only had gone to her car and turned it on. Even though they tell there's no rush.....they turn the lights off on you, the owner goes outside and starts her car, how are you suppose to not feel rushed?
If the customer tells you what they want over the phone, the customer should be given the right amount of time to come in. I would have gladly come in at 6 or 6:15 to not be so rushed and have the job done properly.
It's a no-frills type of place ... but it's really clean, and best of all, I've never had any sales pressure! I've been here quite a few times, and even during my first couple times here, no one pressured me into a neck rub or nail art or anything of that sort ... to me, that's a good thing! $25 for a mani/pedi ... as far as I'm concerned, that's a steal!
Kim is the gal to ask for!
If i can gave them no stars i would. Terrible and fast services! They did a half- ass job on my hair! I had to fix it myself when i got home. I should have cut my own hair and spend avoid the shitty services. I think my stylist was named tina? I don't like it when they talked on the phone when they cutting your hair. It's rude and irritating to my ears! I will never come back to that shitty salon again!
I just go here if I need a quick trim on my bangs. Very simple right? Not necessarily. I told her I wanted thick, choppy bangs--like a 5 year old. Basically, bangs that look like they were just cut straight across--but you should know that there is more to that than actually just cutting my bangs straight across.
Instead, she feathered them so they were sort of thin. But, they were still bangs, didn't poke my eyes, and looked somewhat like a 5 year old girl's bangs.
I came back because its 2 minutes walking distance from my house and only $5 for a bang trim. Its decent, so, why not?
This second time was sorta bad because, this time, my hair stylist seemed very nervous and unsure. This, consequently, reflected the outcome of my haircut.
I could've asked my mom to do it, ANYONE, even my boyfriend, my little brother, or the homeless guy I pass by on my way to Bart! It came out crooked and she cut it wayyyy too far into my hair (near where you hair falls near your ears). That part should be layered, not blunt, because then it just looks very, very, very bad.
I am by no means a hair stylist. I can barely curl my own hair!. But I would like to think a hair stylist at a salon would know better.
The crookedness wasn't that noticeable, but it bothered me so much that I had to fix it at home. I probably made it worse.
I will probably be back to just cut my bangs because it is $5. I'll just make sure to be very specific, descriptive, and make sure to ask for Tina like everyone says.
dEFINATLY NOT THE PLACE TO GO FOR AND UPDO. i WENT KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT i WANTED A SMALL HUM SWOOPED BANGS AND A LOW PONY...i ENDED UP DOING MY OWN HAIR USING THIER SUPPLIES(LOL).IAll the guy in there knows how to do is tease hair! And since I have ummmm..."ethnic"(?) hair...tht dosent work. He obviously only ever does ummmm "non-ethnic"(?) hair cause didnt understand that you cant tease my hair...that creates naps...lol.So I tell him to stop teasing and he gives me the evil eye like "let me do this" and im like "do you know what your doing?" obviously he didnt and i did ask my sis if she thinks they will have a problem doing my "ethnic" hair since my sis is Peenoy (lol...i dunno how to spell it the girl way.) she said it shouldnt be a problem..WRONG. after the teasing stop (oh and btw i had a weave...lol) he started tryna tug and pull...mind you it dosent tae much to pull out a weave and I made it a point to tell him that BEFORE I sat in the chair (Tina passed me off when I told he it was a weave.) He said "ok.no problem" LIES! Im not upet he didnt know what to do...ot everyone does...but the worst thing you can do (especially as a "stylist") is lie about you abilities. The final straw was when I saw him pick up a can of aquanet and try to go to town on my head. i had to stop him and say "No I cannot put that hairspray in my hair" he gave me the evil eye agan...lol.so at this point I was frustrated because I efuse to look like a fool for my sis's wedding so i took the comb out his hand and said i got it...i produced a hump (no teasing invovled) and swoop bangs on my own did a low pony with spirals and walked out...he was in the back when I lft but I think he got the point I wont be giving him any tip. (except to be more versatile with you clientel, and take some extra classes at the local beauty college...lol.)
I remember coming in to this place awhile back. I wanted to color my hair back to black and add some red highlights. Tina did my hair and it did not even come out great. I could barely see the red streaks over the black hair and it was just saddening to see how much money i wasted over a poorly done job. Not coming back again.
Lili did a great job on my acrylic refill today.
She's very dedicated on every detail.
First, I told her i was traumatized about the drill coz Great Nails has wounded me twice with that, she told me not to worry about that since she's never hurt any of her customers before. Thats evidently correct. She's not throwing my hands around like other people but does everything with care.
At the end, when waiting for the nails to get dry. I dented a little bit on one of my finger, I didnt even care about it but she insisted to resurface it and put on another top coat.
Furthermore, she didnt talk to her co-workers during working like other tipicall vietnamese, that makes a huge difference!
PS Price is reasonable too!
I came in here last week, and as always, I made an appointment with Tina. I cut off four-ish inches off my long beautiful hair and she made it look great. :) The only thing I didn't like were my bangs.. She cut them shorter than I want, but I still love the haircut. This was the first time I had short hair in a really long time, and the cut was great. But make sure you make an appointment with Tina.
this place is worth the pay. it's awesome and i love tina. this place is cozy and comfortable and the service is super friendly. i go back for hair, skin, and nails.
For my whole life in Milpitas I can depend on Tina for a 15 minute clean fade. When they fade hair for boys they use 3 different type of clippers just for that perfect fade. I rather pay $9 to get my hair faded in a quickness than ask my friends with clippers to take more than an hour.
been here for ages. staffs are nice and know what they are doing. tina, professonial and know what she doing.
