I've had so many people tell me how awesome these creampuffs are that I had to judge for myself. We went to Shirokiya department store located at the Ala Moana Center early and headed directly for the Beard Papa's Cream Puff counter. I only wanted one to try but was told that we had to purchase a box and a box contained 5 creampuffs and a box cost $7.50.

WHAT????? $7.50???????? We were pondering and pondering and then thought WTF, just try it already. The puffs came with vanilla or green tea filling, but you couldn't mix and match in a box. I settled for the vanilla. We walked outside and hubby and I both ate one each. The verdict? They were good, but not THAT good. The filling was light and not too sweet, as were the puff pastry. However, I wouldn't drive there specifically for them (like some of our friends do) and probably wouldn't even specifically walk over to that side of the mall (it's a HUGE mall) if I was on the other side for something. But if I had to go to a party and people liked them, or, if I was at Shirokiya or Macy's (Macy's is right next door), then I MIGHT go and grab a box. But then again, it's a highly iffy "might".

UPDATE: We brought the leftovers home and put them in the refrigerator like the box said. Well, I had one a minute ago and the pastry bit was still crunchy -- maybe crunchier than when we first bought them -- which is remarkable! It actually tasted better cold than when we bought them!! They were absolutely delicious!!
