YAY! I love this place!
A staple for UMaine students, past and present. Great atmosphere with a chill sport bar/restaurant vibe down stairs, a sweet deck on the 2nd floor, dance club next to the deck, and chill lounge type room with pool tables and seating on the 3rd floor.
Crowded during the school year but still lively during the summer.
Great for lunch, dinner, or a night out.
They have awesome deals during the week...
Mon: 2 for 1 burgers
Tues: 2 for 1 pizzas
and other daily drink and food deals.
The burgers and pizzas are amazing. The County pizza is great with roasted potatoes, roasted garlic cloves, bacon, and a white sauce. Their pizza is made in a wood oven with a thin soft crust. The bacon cheeseburger is really good too.
Highly recommend. I docked one star because the bar service at night is very slow and it can sometimes be hit or miss with the service. Majority of the servers are local college kids and aren't always on top of their game. -

An Orono tradition for most UMaine students. The Bear Brew is an excellent spot to get a frosty microbrew. The beer is excellent here and the patrons are always fun.
A late night pizza or slice will always fill the void and is actually quite delicious too. If you find yourself in Orono, ME and looking for some night life, check out the Bear Brew. -

Very good food, they have great burgers and brick oven pizza's they also have there own beer on tap "Black Bear Micro Brew" and desserts everyday. They also have some good appetizers, try the "county nachos" they are nachos made with waffle fries instead of chips. They sounds strange but trust me you've got to try them.
Friendly atmosphere, and three floors of stuff. The first floor is the bar and "pub", the second floor there is an outdoor bar and sitting area also there's a club and the third floor is another bar and a few pool tables. No matter where you are it's a fun place to be. -

The bear brew is all-ways a good time, whether you enjoy a fresh micro brew from the Black Bear Microbrewery that fill the "HOUSE TAPS" in the Pub section of the bar or you prefer the upper deck/dance club/ or top floor to play pool this is a fun place.
During the School year this is a very busy college scene but when the college kids head home for the summer it's alittle more low key and the locals come out to play.
The micro-brews are not the best in Maine by any means but they definitely aren't the worst. This restaurant offers an excellent selection of pub fare and full meals. I would suggest a bear brew burger or a Brick oven pizza to anyone. And be sure to check out their nightly specials, like 2 for 1 Burger night and 2 for 1 pizza night.
If you really like the beer, go over to Burby and Bates nearby and get a growler of Black Bear to take home. -

I love this place. Great food, great atmosphere, great drinks, great beers on tap and great service. College night is what it is. College night. A lot of young people hanging out together having a great time. But any other night is a fun time as well. From the dance club part to the downstairs bar to the third floor pool tables.
It's also a fun place to visit in the summer. There's a 2nd floor patio with a bar that makes it a key place to hang out on cool summer nights. I highly recommend the food but the drink prices are a plus as well. -

The few times I have been to the Bear Brew it's always been overly crowded. It's mostly frequented by college kids, so if you don't like that sort of scene, you won't like this pub.
