I'm probably going to hell for yelping the most unknown (and coolest) dive bar in downtown San Diego. A lot of people don't want you to know about it. Beanie's has a super cool spacious interior with deep patina from downtown San Diego's seedy days. Back in the fifties it must have been a hell of a jumping lounge. Now, rundown and flea-bitten with some charm still intact.
The owners must be fighting off offers right and left from hipsters that want to turn this into the next Turf Club - but for some reason they've decided to continue on as a flophouse of a bar and raise a giant middle finger in the direction of the Gaslamp Quarter. When the loft realtors, restaurant hostesses and Padres fans finally succeed in completely overrunning downtown, this is where the Old San Diego will make it's final, bloody stand.
Oh, and no one here is gonna give an f*** that you write for Yelp.
