I love the concept of this restaurant (a healthy "fast food place for kids), but the execution was not great.
The menu and concepts all look great, and the workers were very friendly. My wife and I were visiting from out of town, and were looking for a quick food option. We were very happy to see this place (though it's geared towards children) since it provided healthy options, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
I ordered the Hum Diggity, which is basically a hummus sandwich with some veggies on it. And, it was exactly that. It seemed kind of plain-tasting, and food fell out of the sandwich after taking bites. The balsamic vinegar used as a glaze dripped off the tip of the sandwich as well, making it a little messier than expected. My wife ordered the Mediterrane-Yum salad, but was not impressed with the execution as well.
Overall, I like the place and the mission of Bean Sprouts, but perhaps the execution needs a little work.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John W.Rochester, MN223146Jun 11, 2014
Bean Sprouts is a small food court restaurant near the Space Needle. The restaurant seems to cater to kids. There are several kids' entrees that feature food in the design of different animals.
For adults, the focus seems to be organic health food. I had a vegetarian sandwich with roast vegetables, hummus, and lettuce. It was really well done.
The service, however, was very slow, and at around noon (pre-lunch rush), they were already out of their soup, and both of their specialty drinks.
I think this is a great place for parents who are looking for healthy options for their kids in a food court setting, just don't expect the food will be prepared quickly, and be ready to have a 2nd or 3rd choice prepared when you're ordering.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Denise D.Boulder, CO215946Jul 3, 2013
Super fun concept, great for the kids in a space like the Seattle Center Armory. With that said, my husband and I weren't interested in eating here and we kept on being asked what we wanted (like 3-4 times while figuring out what to get the kids). The portions were just ok, a bit on the small side. My girls were happy with the Itsy Bitsy Biter and The Great Turkado, as we were seeing how small the portions were my 9 year old opted for an adult sandwich.
I'd consider Bean Sprouts Cafe in the future as a snack option, not quite a real meal.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brian F.Seattle, WA53214Oct 15, 2014Updated review
NO LONGER AT THIS LOCATION---CLOSED
We were in the Armory this past weekend for the Heart Walk and the NW Folklife Children's Festival and Bean Sprouts is no longer in the food court area.
I checked their website and it said they're moving to a new location TBD.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Brian,
Thanks so much for the suggestions! We just launched our party offerings. You can check them out at http://beansprouts.com/partyOct 20, 2012Previous reviewWhaaaaa!!!!! Wheeeeee!!!!!!! Aaaahhhhh!!!!!!!! as my 14 month old explains as we just learned that Bean Sprouts now has GIFT CERTIFICATES and they can cater parties now!!! The owner just personally messaged me that these were in effect. How awesome is that? We're going to get some gift certificates tomorrow.
Sep 16, 2012Previous reviewHealthy fun food for the whole family. My wife, 1-yr old daughter and I were super stoked to find this little gem wandering about in the "foodie" court at the Center House/Armory at Seattle Center. The place is already hopping so it's perfect for kids with lots of energy. The food is well balanced (food groups, yo!), locally sourced and presented in fun shapes. Lots of options. We saw 2 other families with multiple kids getting there chow down. Furthermore, the Children's Museum is right downstairs, the Science Center, Experience Music Project are easily within hopping, skipping and jumping distance. And there's a whole outdoor civic space to explore. Rain or shine, this is the pl;ace to eat with kids.
My only gripe is that the menu is little hard to understand. They don't use traditional names or food groups. See the photos. But I think it's just a matter of getting use to it. Also, they need to start selling gift certificates. And maybe cater birthday parties!!!
We're definitely going back and we've been telling other parents about the place. - Alexandra S.Vancouver, Canada30436626Jun 28, 2014
Are you a red-blooded American who wants nothing more than a child who will enjoy the sweet taste of Wonder Bread...yet are cursed by offspring who insist on eating healthy, gluten-free food? Finally, a restaurant that provides an answer for your trouble by offering a child-oriented menu centering on gluten-free waffles that will put your kids off of whole grains for the rest of their natural lives.
I try to stick to a gluten-free diet myself, so I am no stranger to the trade-offs you have to make in order to avoid wheat. But these waffles go way beyond the bounds of reasonable toleration. They are flat, flavorless (which is one thing most whole grain options avoid) and have a really unpleasant texture. My kid refused to eat more than two bites, which was one more bite than I was going to put up with myself.
The best thing I can say for this place is that the piece of celery that came as a garnish was very fresh and crisp. So if you are willing to pay six dollars for a lousy, inedible waffle sandwich just to get a decent piece of celery, you have come to the right place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Emi L.Seattle, WA028Aug 10, 2014Updated review
My husband and I tried out the new summer menu with a coupon:
The Turkado sandwich was filled to the brim with juicy tomatoes, turkey, and avocado. I was disappointed with the bread, but impressed with how well the sandwich stayed together with so much inside!
The chicken pesto sandwich was yummy - probably the best thing on the menu.
While the food was overall satisfying, my main qualm with this place - the price of both the adult and kid menus - remains.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Emilovey,
We're sorry to hear about your experience at our café. Our customers are our number one priority! Based on customer feedback, we recently removed the tortilla cones from our salads and replaced them with delicious savory wazzons; Bean Sprout's version of a crouton. As always, we appreciate customer feedback as it helps us to improve our café!Feb 7, 2013Previous reviewGreat concepts but "eh" results. I had their spinach salad with strawberries and figs. It was decent, but I expected something at little better for the price. Also, the tortilla cone it came in was awkward and tasteless. And their smoothies are alright- you can't really mess up a smoothie. They're just small for the cost.
The wait time was also a bit long for the items I ordered. - Amy A.Seattle, WA460114Jun 1, 2014Updated review
I received a yelp msg from bean sprouts corporate and it was warm and kind with an apologetic energy. We have eaten there since and continue to love their chic choc (chocolate hummus and strawberries) and PBNJ.

Their prices are very comparible to other places in the Seattle Center Armory Food Court (it's a major tourist hub, patrons should be prepared for all of the prices to be a bit higher, and Bean Sprouts is resonably priced given this). However, having a single stop where I can get a quality, healthy, tasty grown-up salad or sandwhich and my 5-year-old can get a healthy meal... that she will ACTUALLY eat... is wonderful. Last time there, she had the Do-Re-For-Me (sunbutter & jelly that looks like a piano), and I had a fantastic salad (the name was somthing like Mommy Break). My husband chose greasy pizza from another vendor and was envious of our food.

Needed to feed the family while at Seattle Center, and this is where we chose, due to multiple food sensitivities for myself and our two young daughters. What a treat! Usually all the kids will eat out is french fries, and they are the only safe option. Here, the food was very kid friendly, and they had many choices. Girls had the "Wazzle", a pizza made on a savory waffle. Delicious! They gobbled it up. I had a sandwich on the gluten-free bread, very tasty. I really appreciated the ample vegetables on one pixxa/wazzle, as well as on my sandwich. We all need more veggies in our diets, and these veggies were very tasty. I KNOW we will be back, and I encourage you to try it if you have kids, and/or food allergies/sensitivities. My girls also really enjoyed sitting at a table just their size. At 2 years old and 3 1/2, things like that keep them happy while waiting for a meal!

I was so excited to find that there is now a little cafe especially for neurotic health-conscious Seattle moms (like me) that don't want to feed their kids the usual food-court fare. Unfortunately, my kids are now too big to make this an ideal pitstop on our visit to the Seattle Center, but we did enjoy each flavor of the delicious smoothies. I was happy that they weren't the size of a garbage can, but a normal drinkable portion that didn't get tossed 3/4 towards the bottom. The staff was super friendly and even gave us a sample of the "chocolate hummus." It was nice. We were delighted to see that they even have baby food.
