Bean and Leaf Cafe is the place locals are glad to know and have in their neighborhoods. Inside, they have a corner dedicated to local art and has a cozy, familiar feel, warm and inviting as compared to all those well known chains and what they present.
On top, the flavors are better here. All their food and drinks show the care you'd want and hope to find. For example, their triple berry scone is light with a nice hint of sweetness, vs the ones you usually get that are dense and have a finish like a kids breakfast cereal.
This is one of the few places that the Mrs will actual have a coffee drink. Again, it's lightly flavored and works well together vs the heavy handed flavors of chain stores.
I've generally been treated well by chain store servers who put up with my bad jokes, but Bean and Leaf employees are helpful, friendly and go out of their way to make sure your order was right. They're a cut above.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 12512464Mar 13, 2024Updated review3 check-ins
Updating my review to highlight the stellar service from Kaden!
Came in with my sisters and was looking for something new to try outside of my regular iced white chocolate mocha. He whipped up a vanilla iced coffee with a splash of cream - so simple, yet so good!
He really does deliver 5-star service anytime I come in and I can't express how much I appreciate that - especially considering how crabby I can be before I've had my coffee.
Kaden, here's your flowers!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 8, 2024Previous reviewI'm really making an effort to support local businesses so I was ecstatic when my sister introduced me to Bean & Leaf Cafe.
This little gem is hidden in the Raley's plaza in the north side of Manteca. It's a cute little cafe with a rustic aesthetic. Seating is very limited and it can get a bit crowded depending on the hours you visit, but if you're able to get a table - it's a nice place to catch up with a friend or get some studying done.
What will really keep me coming back is the service. The staff is always so friendly and they are super thorough when taking my order. My first visit, I ordered a white mocha and they made sure to ask me little details like what type of milk and if one shot of espresso is okay. The smallest things make the biggest difference! They've also been kind enough to walk my order to where I'm sitting (if they're not super slammed).
The drinks are amazing and I love the variety they have on their menu. I personally love me an iced white mocha with oatmilk and a double shot, but I'm sure everything else tastes just as good.
I will report back once I try something off their food menu, but I'm a big fan right now and I'll be returning regularly for my caffeine fix. - Jessica B.Manteca, CA5412029Apr 9, 2024
Absolutely love this local cafe! The turkey wrap is my absolute favorite. My high school kids stop by for breakfast sandwiches. Love the vibe and customer service!

Love the hummus plate with onion, cucumber, olives, and whatnot. It's huge. Definitely a good plate to share and their little crispy, toasted breads (not the small pitas) are to die for!

We are big fans of stellar service and at the same time, we are understanding when things are sometimes not so stellar because of circumstances that are beyond the control of the business, like when they are super slammed with orders, but when things are slow, and service sucks anyway, there's no excuse.
We stopped here and got a pesto pizza bagel and bottle of water for our daughter. From the time that we placed our order to the time that the order was ready a total of 18 minutes elapsed. A few people came in and left with short orders during this time. There are 4 people behind the counter and one sitting outside on a break. They were not busy fulfilling orders, and we could not understand why it took so long to get our order. Also, everyone here had foul gazes, not a friendly face to be found. The workplace dynamics seem quite a bit off here, as my husband witnessed one employee giving another employee grief for "not doing what she said she would do" as she was giving him our order.
The topper to this entire experience was not the terrible service or having to witness passive aggressive behavior between employees. The topper was that they burned the bagel and then saw fit to serve it to us anyways.
Covering the charred bagel with cheese doesn't make it taste less charred. This is not worth $12. Now we know why it took so long for them to prepare it.
We love to support independent businesses, but these guys gave us an experience that we will definitely not be back for.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Emily A.Stockton, CA014Apr 9, 2024
Great food. Poor service. It takes a while to get your food. But clean and good atmosphere. The staff seem to talk to each other more than making sure you get served in a timely manner. They are young kids though.

The staff here is super friendly. I came here on a Sunday morning and they let me know that there would be a wait for my food which I didn't mind. I ordered an medium iced vanilla oatmilk latte. The cashier let me know the medium size only comes with one shot of espresso. The latte had a nice flavor, not too sweet but definitely watered down. I would recommend getting two shots of espresso if you prefer a stronger coffee taste. My sandwich came out hot and toasted with a side of chips. The sandwich is pretty good, the ingredients tasted fresh and I love how there's mushrooms inside. I was only able to finish half and it tasted just as good when I heated it up again the next day. Cute little local shop with good food but just mediocre coffee.

My coffee was delicious I got the iced zebra mocha and also I got a sandwich. I got the chipotle chicken and had them add pesto. The bread was very soft and the sandwich had great flavor. The customer service was super nice and helpful. It was my first time and I had a great experience.

Wow, what a nice surprise this little place turned out to be.
They are located in a shopping mall so there is plenty of parking. Their menu has lots of choices for breakfast and lunch.
I chose an Americano and the bagel egg sandwich. I added ham and cheese to the bagel. The egg was SO fluffy. The snadwich was absolutely delicious.
The employees were super nice and friendly.
Yes the prices are a little higher. Yes you have to wait a little longer. However you are getting handcrafted sandwiches and drinks by people who care about their work.
Do yourself a favor and stop by for treats, you will not be disappointed.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Dec 15, 2022
Turkey pesto & salad side: if you like pesto and turkey, you will love the sandwich. The bread is nice and warm also and not doughy or too much bread. Chose side salad instead of chips and you do have to pay a little extra for it. Side salad was delicious and the dressing that comes w/ it is one of the few dressings I use.
My friend had his veggie wrap and seemed to enjoy it also.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
