Large selection of glass, CHEAP [czech and chinese glass were 25% off when I was in, on top of being same price or less for comparable strands at other local shops], woman working there was very friendly and just the right amount of helpful [checked on me a couple times, then left me alone to browse]. Some stuff I hadn't seen before. There seemed to be a lot of rocks lying about but I don't know anything about those.
One thing I'd ask for is better lighting, it was very dim at mid-day.
Despite the handful of bead stores in Berkeley, I have yet to find my favorite store that has a unique selection of beads with decent prices.
I feel neutral about this place. The bead selection is basic, but it has a better feel than Beads and Baubles. I'll continue to come here and keep checking out their selection...
If you want to buy your beads from a seedy guy with a good heart then this is the place for you.
I'm pretty sure this place is a front for crazy drug sales or something...making this much money off of rocks????

And I've known the owner for nearly ten years too.
i formally lived down right on tele and channing very near bead & rocks, and i would often stop there if for nothing else just to say hi to the girl working there. she is warm, welcoming and overall extremely pleasant. if you need anything at all for your jewelry-making needs or even to merely make a pick up the decorations for your outfit-outlandish or conservative-this is the shop where you need to be. opens late and well laid-out, the owner's congeniality makes for a pleasant stop.
Beads and Rocks is a great place to get beads, rocks and much more at a great price!! They have all the material you would need to make that beautiful necklace you saw at Nordstroms and pay way less than Nordstrom prices! They offer a wide selection of glass beads, coral, semi precious stones, vintage beads and more!
