We've been going here for about 15 years. We love this place. The setting is beautiful. The food is reasonably priced. The menu has lots of options, and the taste is good.
This is one place we HAVE to go every time we are on Anna Maria.
Location, location, location.
This is a restaurant right on the beach, facing a setting sun. Who cares what they serve here? They can serve sea water and slop, and it's still going to be a 4-star Yelp review. There just aren't enough places like the Beach House where you can take off your shoes and dig your toes into the sand while waiting for your entree.
As for that entree.... skip it. Just order booze and listen to the impressive one-man band. Despite the romantic setting, don't expect to find love here. Unless you're looking for a Parrothead with a pot belly and two kids in college.
The BeachHouse is my wife's favorite restaurant in Sarasota. That being said, whenever we're here, we go to the BeachHouse.
It's big, it's noisy, there is often a wait to get a table, the service is occasionally spotty, but all of these things can be overlooked. The food is good, the view is wonderful, and it's a fun place to go with friends for a tasty meal.
The fresh catches are always good. The Scampi Anna Maria (my wife's favorite) is very good as well although sometimes they go a little heavy on the oil. The pina colada bread will make you ask for extra loaves to take home.
If you can go during sunset you're in for a treat, but you might have to wait a while to get it.
Popular with toursists but not really touristy. It's right on the beach.
The food gets a B at best.
The setting on the beach is an A++
Even though it's a huge chain type restaurant the food and service was great. The wine menu was a surprise with more than 1 malbec. Gluten free boyfriend enoyed the wings and fries, bigger then your standard chicken wing, sauce was perfectly spicy. The nut crusted salmon (pistachio I think) was delicious. The green beans were fresh and cooked perfectly, sauteed with a little bit of butter salt and pepper. The entree salads were excellent, love the sunflower, walnut. Skip the ceviche. The wedge was a wedge perfect and simple. Blue cheese dressing with a lot of garlic. The raspberry dressing is very delicious, I forgot to ask if they make their own dressing. We were there on a Friday night about 9:00 p.m. The outside patio, 5 tables deep was way too oppresively hot. Stick with the inside a/c like we did. We went back again on Sunday 7:00 pm ish, patio was packed with families and there was a 1 man band no idea what he was playing but again it would have been way to hot to sit outside and to deal with the mad rush if it would have started to rain. The food is surprisingly delicious and guest service recovery was excellent when they forgot my salad the 2nd time we dined.
I wasn't all that impressed with The Beach House Restaurant. We went there for my mother's birthday and by the time we walked in, to the time we left, it was well over 2 hours, more like 2 1/2 hours. Our server was somewhat of a jerk and barely listened to anything we said. We had a large group, there were 8 of us and we all got our food and drinks but sometimes we had to ask a second time. They did however give my mother a large dessert for her birthday free of charge but that took a good 20-30 for the waiter to bring it at which point I was ready to just ask for the check. The restaurant is fairly large, with indoor and outdoor seating but we sat inside mainly so we wouldn't have to wait too long for a table, which was actually less than 10 minutes for 8 people. Most people liked their food except for the 2 that ordered steak; it was too done for each of them. People were still being seated at 9:00pm so maybe they have a good thing going but I don't see it. A typical tourist trap in my opinion.
I have been to this restaurant twice. The view from the outdoor patio is absolutely gorgeous. The food is good - I ordered the grouper grill with key lime sour cream sauce. I really enjoyed it. Our service, however, was horrible. We sat down and watched tables that sat down after us get served while we waited. Finally we went up and let them know. The server was very apologetic, but you would think she would keep the dialogue short, but instead went on and on about the restaurant. We were anxious for some drinks but we did not get them until after our entrees were served. The server reminded us twice that the gratuity is not included. She kept calling everyone honey and sweetie and lovey. I give this place four stars because it is really quite a lovely experience and the service we had the last time we were there was good. I am guessing we just were unlucky the last time with the bad service.
