Every table has an ocean view, which is awesome, even if there is someone sitting in front of you - just hope they aren't super tall.
We went for dinner, and sadly, the sunset was blocked by some rain clouds, but the pink/purple hues that made their way from behind the clouds were spectacular. It was fun to watch the surfers and paddle boarders out in the water too.
Now, the more important part of a restaurant review - the meal! The man had steak, and it was awesome. A little on the pink side for medium, but we realized later that's just how it's done in HI (after asking someone at our hotel) so lesson learned. I had shrimp scampi, which arrived piping hot and was delicious. It had just the right amount of everything, and just the right amount of decadence for vacation eating (I swear I gained 5lbs on this trip at least). We shared the parmesan mashed potatoes, yum-o! It was a great amount to share, probably too much for one since leftovers on vacation don't really work. If you're lucky enough to live in the area order it for yourself so you can enjoy it the next day too you lucky ducky.
The reason I wasn't willing to give this place 5 stars is that everything was directed at the man. He was to order the drinks, both of our meals and the bill was handed to him. It was also handed back to him despite my card being the one that paid for it. Now, I don't mind the server handing things to the man on occassion but dang it, I can think and pay for myself Beach House!!

This is one of my new favorite fine dining spot in Honolulu. It is perfect for romantic dinners and larger parties.
The decor is Victorian, adorable & charming. I LOVE the ocean view. The service was 5 stars.
There was a good variety of menu choices. We started with an ice cold platter of seafood, it was amazing. There was lobster, assorted sashimi, king crab, prawns, oysters, etc...
French onion soup was savory & rich. I had the bone in rib eye which was perfectly cooked. We also shared many side veges.
For dessert I recommend the chocolate spring rolls. If you drive to the Moana Surfrider, I recommend asking for your car half way through dessert. The valet service can take a while.

I love this hotel however this resturant is just okay. I have brought many of my girls here for tea when they have come out to visit.
It is an amazing day when you can have tea by the ocean but the tourists on the beach in speedos kind of ruin the atmosphere (which you can't really do anything about)!! The tea is expensive for what you get but the hotel is amazing and face it you're in Waikiki...
The service is always awesome and the servers really care about what you want and do everything they can to get you what you ask for!
If you get a chance go to afternoon tea :)
view is amazing! I loved the veal chop!!
the mood under the giant banyan tree was as soothing as the live hawaiian music.
after 8 though, it switched to a solo fellow doing blues tunes on his guitar. his second set was some soft pop rock.
the seared blackened ahi with wasabi aioli, soy sesame glaze and micro greens was delicious.
the mango shrimp cocktail was 3 giant and juicy pieces of shrimp anchored onto endives. dip them into a tasty kula mango cocktail sauce and munch on slices of mango.
the nalu field greens with yuzu vinaigrette, candied walnuts, and fresh pear was our attempt of being healthy.
the entrees don't come with sides so you need to order them separately. at $8, these are large enough to share for 2 or 3.
we wanted the creamed spinach but opted to be a wee healthier with grilled asparagus.
the ny strip was very good and the 2lb lobster was massive.
the lobster dish was $68 a pop. yikes! next time, i'd opt for the lobster tail as an add to the ny strip.
cha-ching aside, the setting was beautiful and the mood was romantic. after dinner, we walked to the grassy field with white wooden rocking chairs and enjoyed the view of the rolling waves from the ocean.

I had our post morning wedding ceremony reception meal at the Beach House for 38 guests. We basically reserved the entire back area of the restaurant for our party and everyone enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Nothing super fancy, and we didn't serve any cake or anything, we just wanted to treat our guests to a nice breakfast.
They had plenty of eggs, potatoes, bacon, regular sausage, fish, fruit juices, coffee, some Japanese offerings and fruits. They best part was the French Toast, Waffles, and Pancakes that the server brought freshly made to your table at your request. I gobbled up the french toast so fast the new wife didn't even have some. my bad, i promise it wont be like this in the future.
Too bad the new wife and I were taking pictures around the hotel for a half hour, so we couldn't stuff our faces as much as i would have liked too. Everything to me was delicious and if you need a "cheaper" way to feed 30+ people this is a great place.

We made reservations and had the 'next best' table to the two on the end that face the ocean outdoors. It was too beautiful of a night to sit indoors. We were able to enjoy the Hawaiian music and hula entertainment taking place in the courtyard area.
Many of their dishes that night incorporated mango to take advantage of the abundance.
'Nalo greens, ahi loin katsu, a shared sweetbread pudding, and tea made up my meal. I opted for seafood since this is Hawaii, and steak seemed too heavy. Not sure what the 'fried' green decor was on my plate - I forgot to ask. It was tasty but surprisingly spicy. It looked like a cross between really thin strips of scallion and French fried onions (a la green bean casserole at Thanksgiving.)
I'm not a big bread pudding person, but if all bread pudding tasted like this did, then I'd order it more often.
The manager came by twice to make sure everything was okay (it was) and to thank us for choosing to dine with them that night. We were guests of the hotel, so it seemed like a natural choice for a romantic dinner.
We saw solo diners, couples, and families. Attire included jeans/black rubber slippers (avoid that route if you can - perhaps nice shorts & a blouse/polo shirt instead and at least your 'good' slippers), dresses, Aloha shirts, coats, and kimonos.
very pretty setting to have breakfast buffet however there wasnt enough variety of food... not much to eat accept bacon, eggs, rice, miso soup, some fruits...nothing special tasting... i liked how they gave kamaaina discount but for the price, i much rather prefer the plumeria...
since i wrote a review of one of the best experiences in oahu, ill write about one of the worst.
jen and i were walking around waikiki beach and we found this beautiful hotel. theres a nice bar. nice. theres a nice restaurant, ok lets give it a try. we make a reservation for the following day.
we get there a bit early so we decide to check in with the host and grab a drink at the adjacent bar. after a drink, we check back in with the host and shes a bit lost. no worries..... she says an outdoor table like we requested will be four turnovers..... um excuse me? i ask her then how about ANY table..... a gentlemen that seemed to be a manger of some sort tells her in a hushed voice, seat the people that are here, dont save tables for people that arent. he grabs a few menus and seats us in a nice outdoor patio table.
i knew we shouldve gotten out of there after reading the menu and asking the server a few questions....
meat from pittsburg... marketed as AGED.. but really wet aged.
king crab legs, processed in alaska
dungeness crab from the west coast....
lobster from maine.....
i think the water might have been from hawaii.... oh nevermind...
well, apparently, restaurants selling dishes made with local ingredients are hard to find.
i thought, then hopefully the dishes are prepared well....
the raw bar..... wow, the most flavorless ahi an yellowtail ive ever tried. the abalone? meh. shrimp, lobster, oysters... all petty much a tragic fail.
the wet aged meat from pittsburg was not that bad. i must admit, its was decent. but why was it cooked medium well when i asked for medium rare? i ordered a bone in ribeye and the meat near the gristle on the bone was barely pink. yeah. THAT well done.
...... and when i got the bill, wow
300+ for a decent bottle of rose champagne, raw bar for two, bone in ribeye, filet mignon, unmemorable sides of asparagus.... and honestly, i DONT remember the other two sides from a dinner two nights ago....
we didnt look into this place before trying it. we decided to eat here on a whim.....bad idea.
save yourself the time and money. go somewhere else. during this trip to oahu, ive had dinners that cost a tenth of this dinner that were 100xs better.
one star for the scenery and one star for the beautiful banyan tree in the courtyard......

I thought this place deserved its own review instead of it being mentioned with the Moana Hotel.
First, you can only get breakfast, brunch on the weekends, high tea and dinner here.
Second, the drinks are a little more expensive than the Beach Bar under the banyan tree. I think the Beach Bar makes better drinks even though they use a less quality liqueur.
Lastly, when I write about the High Tea, the place is know as The Veranda, not the beachhouse. One restaurant with two names.
The dinner menu is a bit pricey...think Ruth's or Morton's. They do have some Kobe Beef if you don't mind spending $80 for a steak.
As for the High Tea, it is reasonably in price and one of the few places in Hawaii where you can still get it. Actually, I think it is the only place???
High Tea runs about $33. Add $10 for some champagne. The view from the Veranda is nice. Not sure about a dress code. I opted for jeans and a button down shirt. I noticed most people did the same as well. You might feel a little out of place in board shorts and t-shirt unless your a rebel like me and sit at the bar! After all, this is Hawaii!
The mojitos were very good, Tasted better than the Beach Bar, but they use more alcohol in their mojitos. The mai tai was lame, go to the Beach Bar for the mai tai!

It was good. The food, the ambiance, the service all good. That being said, it's definitely a tourist spot--overpriced, with both indoor and outdoor dining areas. I feel very badly that others have had such bad experiences. It was good. Nice, but just that. Not spectacular. Except for the hotel.

Pretty expensive place with a nice view. My wife and I enjoyed the coconut crunch waffles, but found that mine was crunchy and hers a bit soggy. With fruit drinks, the tab came to a bit over $50.
Not for those on a budget.
The ambiance is first rate. It is my favorite hotel in Hawaii, it has so much character, history and the famous banyan tree that provides one of the best outdoor eating areas in the state. Enough with the environs, on to the meal.
I ordered the french onion soup, the wagyu rib-eye, and king crab legs for the entree (that alone was over $100). Our group had a round of martinis and moved on to a couple bottles of cab. We split two orders of the raw appetizers and the ala carte side dishes of sauteed mushrooms and a couple others I don't remember. Can't go wrong with the raw apps including abalone, crab, oysters, hamachi, maguro. French onion soup was really good with lots of gruyere cheese. Yes the rib-eye was perfectly cooked and tender, the generous portion of king crab legs had lots of meat and nicely pre-cut. But I didn't get any "wow" factor from the meal. The service was good, but in the end it was just a steak and crab dinner. I'm willing to drop coin on a good meal, but sorry to say that it is just too overpriced for what you get.
Great food, fantastic ambiance, professional service but really expensive!!! After all, it is at the Moana Hotel in Waikiki. Recommended only if you're trying to impress some tourist.
My DH and I were staying at the Westin Moana and ate here because we had to get an early morning start to Pearl Harbor. Our shuttle was picking us up at 6:45 so we needed to find a place that opened early. The Beachhouse opened at 6 am so we that that would give us plenty of time. Our bad...the service was SO slow that we almost missed our shuttle. We ended up having to wolf our food down and track the waiter down to get our check. I'll admit, the view is wonderful but the breakfast was mediocre at best. I had the two eggs, home potatoes, bacon and toast and my DH had an omlette and that was $50! So ridiculous. I would recommend going to the Outrigger hotel and eating at the Hula Grill instead. Great food and good prices.
