OK, if you're looking to be cosely located to Downtown and the beach broadwalk then this is the place to be.
Simple, low key, nothing fancy. For about $70-80/night it's not a bad deal. Seriously, how much time are you going to spend in the room anyways.. If you're looking for a nicer room, then there's some B&B's and fancier hotels. But I enjoyed it. Raj who manages the place is very friendly.
The continetal breakfast is just milk, sunny delight, pastries and really weak coffee. I would suggest heading to downtown for some awesome brunch!
Tip:
*Bring your hairdryer if you need.
*Pillows if you are really picky, but you can ask for more pillows at the front desk.
*Conditioner for your hair. The sun really takes a beating.
Worth it! Ask for the 2nd floor if you can.

I called to reserve a room for my son and daughter in law for their 1st anniversary. All the previous places I called would gladly accept my credit card over the phone - no problem. The manager at the Beach View Inn insisted that I fax her a copy of my drivers license (front & back) and a copy of my credit card (front & back). When I called to she if she had received my information she said the copies were too dark -DUH! She insisted that my son give her these copies when they checked in. For some reason these copies were not acceptable and my son had to pay for their room! The manager insisted that she keep my copies on file for further reference! Why keep my personal information - my DRIVERS LICENSE AND CREDIT CARD INFO? My son had to insist that he take back these copies.
I have never heard of this kind of business practice. I believe this is not only a disgrace but illegal. I placed a complaint to the BBB in Santa Cruz. Since I did not request a monetary return I do not think the BBB will do anything. I am hoping this unscrupulous business conduct will NEVER be used on another customer!
This incident not only spoiled my surprise gift for my kids 1st anniversary it spoiled the experience as a remembrance for them for their 1st anniversary!
Santa Cruz was my hometown for nearly 40 years. I am embarrassed to learn how people from my hometown treat people who are visitors.
