Sacramento, CA
Another great locals hang-out. And now I am part of the crowd. Owner Breese at the grill and ten-year veteran waitress Connie were making my day. I felt right at home and clearly so did everyone else.
I just love diner food. The funkier the location the better so long as the food is diner-licious. Sadly I was only able to do a quick breakfast with one of Breese's homemade waffles. It was yummy. And real butter none of that fake stuff in a yellow tub. What the heck is that stuff anyway? Side of crisp bacon and coffee. I was having a great day.
Lots of big omelets. And they make their own hollandaise sauce for the Eggs Benny. Darn....I love good hollandaise. Next time plus lunch and a big burger and fries. Yeah!
Located back by all of the farmer warehouses, the hum and rumble of big rigs softly in the background. I will definitely put this on my list of places to visit again. -

A small place down in the food packing district -The food was great.
Classic diner breakfast, with a California flair, and a step up I'd say from the average.
Regulars came and went - old guys in trucker caps who greeted each other with a pat on the back and said "well there you are you S.O.B. . heh heh" and nursed a cup of coffee while gossiping. Oh wait, that's what the old ladies did. The old guys 'catch up on current events".
I had the huevos rancheros - It was delicious, fresh, and portions were huge.
Very good coffee.
My mom had the bacon waffles, which were great. How COULD that be bad.
Also at the table, pancakes (pronounced delicious and tender), an omelette that was delicious and full of stuff, and a cheeseburger.
Yes, you can have a cheeseburger for breakfast.
So glad Watsonville has this - there are several good places to get a hearty breakfast around here now.
We'll be back, I have no doubt. -

Like an oasis in a desert. The Beach Street Diner and its delicious, surprisingly gourmet food gave us the energy we needed to make it back to the Bay Area without passing out after a late evening spent at the beach.
The food locally sourced or something and is deeply, deeply satisfying if all you've eaten in the previous 18 hours is 3 scoops of guacamole and half a chicken apple sausage poached in Jose Cuervo. Bonus points for the eclectic hat collection on the walls and the quirky regulars discussing wholesale artichoke prices. -

I am told that Beach Street Diner has closed. I have been going here for over 25 years and I am so very disappointed.

I've been enjoying their breakfast menu for years, different owners and staff but still great food! Connie was the best waitress ever!

This is a great breakfast place on the getaway day after spending a week at Pajaro Dunes. The bacon, sausages and meats are from the Freedom Meat Co. That's just about all you need to know. It's an indication of what you can expect. It's great breakfast food served with a lot of love. This is a LOCAL diner where locals hang out, have coffee, read the paper, and have a Manly breakfast. No muffins here.

Unfortunately, Beach Street Diner is closed. We tried to go this morning and there was a sign on the door saying due to the recession, they can't stay open. Bummer. :0(

I ordered the blueberry pancakes with bacon and two eggs over easy.
Wow!
My meal was fantastic and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Also, great service. My coffee cup was never empty. -

I found this place on Yelp and tried it out because of the great reviews.
I was not disappointed!! I got the crab and shrimp omelette and there was at least 1/4 lb of freshly picked crab meat and at least the same amount of super fresh tasting baby shrimp!
I was also impressed with the blackberry jam on the table for the toast. There were so many whole berries in it I had to smash them up on my toast....YUMO!!!
The service was fast and friendly, the coffee was great and the prices were amazingly low for what you get :)
I will definitely go here again and tell everyone I know to try it too!!! -

In Watsonville for a wedding Sunday afternoon, 8 of us had breakfast here and liked it so much that 17 friends and family filled the place up the next morning. Everyone had a great meal and we were impressed that the waitress and cook could get all that food served to our group so efficiently! 5 stars for good service and real food!!!

You can totally drive past this place and not even realize it's a diner. Don't make that mistake!!! It may not look like much, but well worth a visit. It's a regular breakfast spot for us when we're at the beach. My kids love the waffles... especially the ones with fresh strawberries. yum! my fav is the omlettes. it's soooo hard to find a place that makes a REAL omlette (meaning all the stuff is inside, and it's folded in half). Theirs are pockets of cheesy yummy goodness. Wait staff is friendly and pretty efficient. I'll be back... again and again and again... :)

Review from Marc C.
Maybe the cook was sick the day I went. We had breakfast, took awhile to be seated, the service was spotty, and none of the food was very flavorful. The charred ashen remains of some sort of herbs made up much of my hash browns, which would have been great if I was a coal-fired power plant, but being a person it just left a bunch of wasted mass on my plate.

I like this diner. I always have the chicken-avocado sandwich for lunch. Reading the other reviews, I'm going to have to break out of my rut and try something else. Beach Street is an American classic. They close a little early for me (1:30 PM. Sometimes I can't get there by then.)

Good Food!
I love going out to breakfast, and I get really bummed if the breakfast i go out for isn't that great.
Morning after 4th of July, mom had the kids, and the hubby and I yelped this spot.
I love little hole in the wall places, and I love places that use local vendors = I love this place. They get their meat from Freedom Meat Lockers (see review for that). I got the Linguica Omelet and I'm so glad i did! I loved it!!!! And the potatoes were not too shabby, either. The seasoning was good, but they were a tad on the dry side for my taste. My hubby got the sausage (YUMMY) and eggs and the bacon waffle.
I'm not a fan of breakfast meats mixed with syrup and pancakes or waffles, but I ate 1/4 of his waffle...it was life changingly delicious!!!!!!!
We were not disappointed and will most definitely be back for more! -

-the hats, may they be old and somewhat dirty are always fun to look at and read what they're about
-you got a great mix of people from locals to regular truckers, out of towners to local family visitors that have fell in love with the place and are just passing by
-i have taken a few significant people here and it's always been a hit with them also
-my sister would call me in bed from the room next door and say "let's go have breakfast at beachstreet", i am ready in 2 minutes hahaha

Los Gatos, CA
Had breakfast there this morning. Ordered a very basic Eggs and Sausage. The gals ordered a scramble with veggies. The potatos were better than expected, sausage good and eggs were standard.
It was good and I will go back, but I would have to have something a little more exotic to give it 5 stars. -
Review from Cathy P.
Watsonville, CA
Truckers have traditionally known where to go for good food and Beach Street is it. Really small (7 tables and a counter), really cute (white lace curtains, dusty baseball caps, and darling waitresses), and really out of the way (look for all the big rigs parked across the street). This is the place where you can have breakfast or lunch and rub elbows with the City Manager, City Council members and some of Watsonville's oldest local families.
The waffles are the best (try the pecan) and when in season, topped with local strawberries; the bacon is from Freedom Meat Lockers and shouldn't be missed either. And the sausage...my mouth is watering.
But the one thing that really endears this place to me is that they have REAL jam pots, with REAL jam on every table, not those stupid itsy-bitsy plastic/foil cubes with the single teaspoon of pureed fruit inside. You can slather the strawberry jam on your english muffin 2 inches thick if you want, just like at home. And don't forget to grab a few Hershey's kisses from the bowl next to the cash register on your way out! -

It's been years since I've been there but it used to have the best breakfast in Watsonville. Their omelets and home fries were excellent. I remember their portions were huge. The place was almost always busy but the service was always top notch.

We've been going to Beach Street Cafe for as long as I remember. It's just a tiny place so be prepared to wait on the weekend. If you get there early though it's not too bad. Lots of truck drivers and people traveling to and from Pajaro Dunes (which where we're always coming from) with a good mix of locals.
I've never had anything here that wasn't yummy. My kids always get the waffles and they say that they have best waffles (even better than mine...LOL). I can't wait to go back! -

Beach Street Cafe makes a mean breakfast. It's a tiny little place hidden in Watsonville. When I say it's tiny I mean it. It's very small but I usually don't mind waiting very much. Check out the trucker hats all along the walls!
The service here is friendly and the food is good. I'm an eggs benedict fiend so that's what I order. The omelets are good here as well. The food is good and the service is good. God I miss this place when I'm not home! -

Great food and great local flavor. Try the apple waffle for breakfast and skirt steak sandwich for lunch. Delicious!

Having been a refuge from the closing of the Del Monte Cafe, I've been going to the Beach Street Cafe. They really cook a great breakfast, and many locals from Watsonville eat there. I like to start my mornings there when I'm photographing trains along the Union Pacific Santa Cruz Branchline. Heck even the Union Pacific crews eat there!
Beach Street makes great waffles and bacon. Be sure to stop in one of these days. -

Went here the other morning for breakfast and I'm almost ashamed to say that even though I grew up in watsonville I had never been here. I ordered the waffle with the spiced apples and whip cream, R ordered the egg omelet with cheese and home fries. I'm not really a fan of waffles but I had a feeling and oh man am I glad I followed it ! The waffle was fluffy and the apple was just like an apple pie. We both enjoyed our breakfast and cant wait to come back !

Milpitas, CA
I can see why so many gave 5 stars, but I really think it helps to be a local to enjoy it. We frequent this area, but not enough to be considered locals. It's a family diner, right down to the pre-teen taking dishes half-heartedly from tables to the washing area.
I think I also made a mistake by ordering a club sandwich rather than breakfast. It was $9 and there was one single slice of turkey and 3 slices of bacon. My husband ordered an omelet, which was definitely a fair portion, but they charged an extra $3.50 to add ham to it.
Not bad by any stretch, but the friendly staff and comfy feel of the place was not enough to make us want to go back. -

Watsonville, CA
We love this place! It is our favorite weekend breakfast place. The food is delicious. The portions very generous and the weekend waitress (wish I could remember her name) is super friendly and efficient.
The owner, who is also the chef, is very accommodating in regards to special requests. My daughter wanted a ham and cheese that was not on the menu and LOVES the way he prepares it and gets about every time we go there.
I love the Huevos Rancheros and my wife says the Eggs Benedict is the best she has ever had.
We have only gone on weekend mornings, and are not early risers, and there have been very few people there. I certainly hope that they are busy earlier and during the week because we really want this gem to be around along long time. -
Review from Adriana R.
San Francisco, CA
I split a two egg breakfast with bacon and home fries along with a club sandwich. The breakfast was pretty mediocre; toast had no butter and was overly toasted. The home fries were a bit too dry for my taste. The club was pretty boring, it wasn't horrible, just not good. It could have been better if the service was better. Our server was not friendly and it came off as rude. All in all; mediocre experience all around.

Lake Forest, CA
What a little gem in the midst of the strawberry fields, warehouses, and new homes. Kind of a weird place to have a restaurant, but it adds to the unique experience of eating at a "hole in the wall" type of joint...and I mean that in the best way possible. When you walk in, the place looks like a streetcar diner. It's long and narrow and has a bar that you can sit at to eat. The walls are lined with hats from all over the place. I wonder if they're brought in by all the truckers who go there and eat. The food is outstanding and is well regarded in the community. They do wonderful breakfasts, and I especially loved their omelettes and fresh fruit pancakes.

I've definitely been back despite my strange encounter, and I'm still delighted each and every time. I definitely have to be in a certain mood to eat this fare, and I can only usually handle it once in a while, but when the timing is right, man Beach Street hits the spot.

Cupertino, CA
This is where we like to go for breakfast when we're at Pajaro Dunes. It's just down the road and therefore convenient. It's better than Norma's, where we ate until we found this little place. It's standard diner fare. They do a pretty good breakfast. This isn't exactly a destination restaurant, but it is worth a detour if you find you're hankering for a decent breakfast as you travel Highway 1.

The quintessential veggie burger. Great service and fun diner style environment. By far best place to eat in Watsonville. Only negative is their 1:30PM close. Wish they were opened ALL day and evening!

I can't help but write another review for this awesome little diner hidden away among factory warehouses. This place has my favorite Nutty waffles, Bacon and eggs, omelets, coffee, and so very much more. More importantly, they make you feel like family. This is my absolutely favorite place to eat in Watsonville. That's about the best review I can give. Thank you Beach Street Diner for ALWAYS having great service and food! Keep it up and I will keep coming back! :-)

Back when I was a teenager, (in the 70s) got my license to drive, heading to Pajaro Dunes or Manressa Beach for fun in the sun, always drove by but never stopped at the cafe. Big mistake on my part for taking so long.. Finally stopped in for breakfast on our motorcycle ride to Point Sur Lighthouse! The food was good, price was cheap. Lots of things to choose from.. The waitress was a tiny perky thing with a huge smile and very friendly.. I got to admit that I like being pamered once and a while at a fancy rest..but I enjoy the tiny mom and pop places, so much better... Love the down home cooking..

Oh this place is great! Home fries are excellent. Eggs benny makes me warm inside. Tons of old school trucker caps on the walls to keep you fascinated for a few. Staff is friendly and nothing beats some good old trukers talkin' bout the alien ships they see in the night.
