NO MSG in the sauces & rubs! You can finally eat BBQ and not get a blinding migraine afterwards. Although the food is sooo goood that it would almost be worth it.

After Famous Daves BBQ opened recently by Everett Mall, I took my wife there for lunch (it has been ages since we had BBQ) and discovered everything except the grilled chicken salad has MSG in it. After calling a number of BBQ joints between Marysville down to Bellevue, we were only able to find Snohomishs' BBQ Shack that doesn't use pre-packed rubs that often have MSG in them. So, we went there and loved it!

I had the Three & Three meal (only got about half of it eaten) with Beef Tri-Tip, Pork Ribs and Hot Links with the Potato Salad, Cole Slaw and Cornbread. The beef was tender and moist with a medium sauce (served Carolina style). The ribs came cleanly away from the bone (it was so good, you could leave your false teeth at home and have no trouble). The links were delicious and not overly spicey.

The cornbread is fresh baked on site (and had just come out of the oven as we arrived) and the slaw tasted like my grandmothers (from her Better Homes recipe book). My wife and daughter had the Two & Two platters (ribs and chicken on one and ribs and Tri-Tip on the other). My wifes chicken was smokey and moist, without being dried out like my homecooked BBQ chicken usually is. My daughter had the baked beans as well and loved them, "A full, rich flavor of smoked bacon & onion" as she described it.

Sure, the place is tiny with seating for about 24 people. Yes, the owners do most of the work, but this is one of those really good corner joints that give you really good food at a really good price. Past reviews said they do not deliver, but the owner said they did. If you are bringing a dozen people or more, I'd suggest you call ahead to verify they have the room. Otherwise I'd get a catering order in and you can chow down in front of the plasma at home.

So, save the local economy! Skip the chain restaurants and eat at places like the BBQ shack. You'll be glad you did!

Got take-out here once.  The BBQ was tasty.

I stopped in on a separate occasion.  It seemed like only the cook was working, there were several people waiting for their food already, and so I left.

I will try again though.

Every last Sunday of the month I come to Snohomish for music at Tim Noah's Theater, and follow it up with dinner at the BBQ Shack. They've got the most flavorful pork ribs of any place I've tried in the greater Seattle area - the meat just falls off the bone, it is so tender!  I also enjoy the baked beans - just the right amount of sweetness in there. I heard another customer (who grew up in the South) rave about the accuracy of the sweet tea, which I didn't try (not a tea drinker). I also found the staff extremely friendly - hopefully you'll have Lindsey as your hostess. My only complaint? The spicy sauce choice needs to be hotter!
Skip chains like Famous Dave's and have the real deal here!

I've been there twice in the last two years.  Both times after the annual Bigfoot soccer tourney.  My son and I love it, and even the girls enjoyed it.  It is a shack, but they do most of their business in catering according to the owner.  He told me that even Oprah is a fan.  Well if Oprah likes it, then I guess America has to fall in line.  She even gets presidents elected now!

I've had the tri-tip beef and the pork ribs.  Excellent.  The corn bread was tasty. I'm not usually a cornbread fan, but it melted in my mouth.  I also like the baked beans and the cole slaw.  I've never left hungry that's for sure.  The lemonade was refilled by the friendly waitress and that was a blessing.  It's a tiny place, but it packs a wallop in the bbq department!

food was okay.  not the best bbq but not bad.

i ordered togo and paid via credit card.  when i got my credit card bill, i found out that the restaurant filled in a 30% tip after i left!  very uncool. what a horrible business practice.  never going to go there again.

Before I tried The Shack I used to say that there was no such thing as "bad" BBQ, only varying degrees of good.  This was bad, I mean really bad. The ribs were devoid of any evidence of being near smoke, the sauce was about sweet enough to induce spontaneous diabetes and the slaw dressing may as well been 2% milk for all the body and flavor it had.  I really wanted to like this place if for no other reason than it's in close proximity to where I work and live. All I gotta say is "yuck!"

My friend and I got take-out from this place and it was great!  We ordered pork ribs and BBQ chicken and everything was fantastic: succulent, full of flavor and the right balance of savory and sweet.  All the meat was tender and perfect, the way BBQ should be.  We got a couple of sides as well - the coleslaw was pretty good and the cornbread was great (I really liked it because it was sweet, but not too sweet, grainy and had a strong corn flavor...adding butter to it was like adding crack - it was incredible and addictive!).  They gave us some hot sauce that wasn't that "hot" to me, but maybe I just have a really high tolerance (hey, I've spent part of my life in New Mexico where chiles were an everyday dish!).

The only thing I didn't like was when all the food disappeared... :-(

If you love good ole fashioned Southern tasting BBQ then this is the place to go!!  To give you an idea of HOW GOOD this place is, my husband is from the South where BBQ stands are as popular as Teriyaki joints here.

This place is up to par for him which means it blows everyone else out of the water here!

The prices are reasonable.  You can get a sandwich and side for around $7, and a larger portion for anywhere from $9 to $15.  Their menu is not massive, but everything they serve is delicious.

To give you a sample I simply have to recommend the BBQ brisket.  It's moist, tasty, and gives you the option of 3 different BBQ sauces, mild, medium, and hot!  The BBQ cheeseburger is a delicious alternative to what you'd get anywhere else in a BBQ burger.

Their cornbread is sweet, moist, and warm, melting the butter as soon as you put it on.  Their mashed potatoes are homemade with a gravy that doesn't compare, and my southern husband demands the beans, coleslaw and potato salad every time.

The service is pretty good.  Think small town, family owned business, because this is what it is.

They also do catering for all sorts of local events so ask if you are interested!  You probably can't get better catering for the price!

This place is the best BBQ I've had in a joint.  I've had the ribs, chicken, shoulder and tri-tip, and it's all very good.  My favorite is the ribs with chicken second.  The portions are generous.  Very flavorful and tender.

I think they definitely are better than another bbq joint in the area that begins with a "T."  What really impressed me were their salads - coleslaw and potato.  I fear salads made in delis, even at the foo-foo grocery stores, because they rarely taste like home cookin' and there seems to be some "thing" in the deli salads that just doesn't taste right - too "mass-production" or somethng.  However, I was very surprised at how tasty the salads were.  If you like KFC coleslaw and mom's simple potato salad, you will like these.  The baked beans were good, although I'm not a big baked bean fan.

The cornbread  muffins are also very good, a little on the sweet side and not too sweet.  Their "hot" bbq sauce option is not really that hot if you do like your food spicy; it's relatively mild.  The lemonade?  Good!

They also sell gift certificates and t-shirts as well.  Been there several times and I will go again.  GREAT place to go if you really have a craving for BBQ.  It's a treat. The place isn't fancy and it's rather small, which is not a bad thing.  This is a small, 'mom and pop' place.

I remember several years ago when the community was all up in arms about the "NAKED dancing pigs" mural on the side of the building.  I dunno...Porky Pig - from what I can remember - never wore britches; and I haven't seen any pigs in clothes lately...

It's simply a great place for barbecue!!  Go, you won't be disappointed.

This is one of the best BBQ places I've eaten at.  The only bad thing was when we got our meal it was lukewarm.  The place is very small, but cute.  The BBQ sauce was excellent.

This  is a reliably good place to pick up barbecue. It is TINY but the food is good. I'm not sure how they get it all done in there! The servers are nice.  Quite often you'll be waited on by one of the owners or their kids.  The Naked Pig thing is cute and tasteful. No booty-calling pigs here!

Our favorite is the whole slab dinner to share, with extra cornbread. They really do make good cornbread.  The ribs are meaty and not too fatty. We like our sauce flavorful, mild and abundant, and that's what we get here!

On Tuesdays, they have All-You-Can-Eat night which is great for hungry teenagers. It isn't cheap at about 13 bucks without a drink, but they get my money's worth.

I have had the pulled pork sandwich and the tri-tip.  As at Baskin Robbins where I aways have Pralines N Cream no matter how interesting the other things sound, we always have to have the ribs.  They are just too good.

Yum! BBQ pig doesn't get much better than this. They have ribs and sandwiches and even hot links. Plus the sides you expect like corn bread, coleslaw and chips. It's a small place, and sometimes you have to wait if you're looking to sit there, but it's worth it. Tuesdays has all-you-can-eat but I've never tried that as they give you plentiful portions even on other days.

LOVE this place. It's small, cozy, the staff is awesome and the food is to die for. I've never had something there that I didn't like. My parents came from Indiana to visit and I took them there, they went home and raved about how great it was. My husband and I will truly miss this place when we move.
