Having a bad day? Get one or two of these cheesy, juicy sandwiches--and wash it down with one of the gourmet sodas they offer (black cherry is my favorite). You'll instantly feel satisfied and much better!

They also offer breakfast, but I've yet to try it, only because I'm always late for work and never have time to swing by. I will be back for you, egg sandwich.

This would normally be a 3-star review but the fact that I can get a big meaty sandwich with my NYU ID for $4, or a ridiculous $3 on Mondays merits an extra star.  No, there isn't a ton of variety here, and the $8 "meal" is no bargain, but the cheesesteaks are serviceable, the wait is never long, and the sandwich price is amazing even in a neighborhood with lots of inexpensive lunch options.  The $2.25 Tonnie's cupcakes under the same roof is a nice extra feature and just TRY finding the willpower to walk out the door without buying one for dessert.

Omfg. BB's cheese steak.... i feel like one of the crackheads itchin' for a fix just thinking about those cheese steaks. First off you can get it for $4 bucks if your a student (all the broke college students can relate) and they have 3 DOLLAR MONDAYS?! WTFF?! in this economy!? Then they have mini's but im not a fan (same thing except smaller, Man up and get a full burger) leave the minis to your Gf. Oh and if you do happen to bring your Gf you can DAZZLE her with the cupcakes they got on the side while u down ur sandwich on the side. the chicken sandwich isn't bad just not a chicken kinda fella... OH TRY THE BB's MEAL awwww man comes in a cool red box if requested (YOU KNOW I DID) any cupcake chips soda and burger all for 7 dollars! Go try them ASAP

Best cheese steak ever. I ate one and immediately had to order another. And then another. It pains me that BB's on the other side of the country. There's no place in the SF Bay Area that comes even close when it comes to the cheese steaks at BB's. Oh, and make sure to save room for cupcakes, because they're awesome, too!

First off, for 4 dollars (NYU discount bitch.) I'm hard-pressed to find a tastier sandwich.

However, I refuse to give this place more than 3 stars.

When I want a cheesesteak, there's a certain je ne sais quoi that goes along with experience.

For instance, I want my hands and face to be COVERED in grease. I want to feel my arteries clogging. I want heartburn real bad. I want the fat from the awful terrible cheese (or cheese-whiz) to mix with the hot sauce and gritty cheap beef  so that every single bite is an explosion of comfort food staples.

This sando is good. But it ain't no cheesesteak.

They call them cheesesteak sandwiches, but don't come here expecting anything like a philly cheesesteak...

These sandwiches are in their own genre; they have a lot of tomato, caramelized onion, and vinegary taste to them. The spices marry the lean pieces of beef, melt into a creamy slice of cheese, and then honeymoon into a soft kaiser roll. Party in my mouth.

A super good deal for NYU students (and apparently, also for NYPD or FDNY fellas), who get discounts (prices have risen since I've first tried it, so go there before that happens again). I created tension when I brought a sandwich to class because the smell was so enticing.

Haters begone, I love these succulent little sandwiches.  It's a cheesesteak with a twist -- meat, melty cheese, caramelized onions, and tangy red sauce with a kick.  I lived off these little sandwiches during a summer of classes at NYU (student rate!) and somehow never got sick of them.  In fact, just the thought of them would have me salivating about half an hour before lunch break.  The only thing is -- if you have a big appetite, be sure to get [at least] two of them.  ;-)  (3.5 stars)

I read about Bb Sandwich Bar in The New Yorker and decided to pay this little shop a visit.  Their cheesesteaks are served on poppy seed rolls and it's not a typical cheesesteak; their onions are marinated for four hours, the meat isn't chopped up like 99 Miles to Philly's, and there's a secret sauce that the owner makes himself.  I thought of it more like a deli sandwich, but it was a freaking GOOD deli sandwich.

It's cheap, fast, and shares its space with a cupcake shop (one stop shopping!)  Stop in if you're an NYU student for a discount (the owner said that the NYU lacrosse team accounts for a lot of his business).

I found out about BB Sandwich Bar from friends who frequent the shop.  Their savory cheesesteak sandwich is different from the more popular philly cheesesteak by how it's created .  Served on a poppy seed roll (you can ask for it to be toasted) is a slice of grilled ribeye steak, marinated onions, their specially made sauce, and topped with white american cheese!  Oh, it's heavenly!  I especially love that they carry gourmet soda, sugar made from sugar cane (instead of corn syrup)!

This tiny gem on West 3rd street doubles as a cupcake shop (Tonnie's Mini)...so while you wait for your cheesesteak order, feel free to ask Tonnie's staff for a cupcake tour!  Their "Golden Heart" cupcake is my personal favorite!

Finally, their customer service is excellent, coupled with a friendly staff...it's a sure way to bring us back!

Yes, as you can tell...I, too, have become a regular!

PS.  If you're not a fan of beef, they have created a new Chicken Sandwich!!  It's made with a slice of chicken breast meat, Muenster cheese, special spicy mayo sauce, and topped with their usual yummy onions!

The sign outside this establishment promises "the best cheesesteak in the history of man's existence on planet earth" (or something similar), and so I had to give this place a shot, seeing that I am a big fancier of the cheesesteak sandwich. If they hadn't made this claim, maybe I'd give this place four stars, but just because they have the cojones to advertise themselves like that, they get three. The sandwich was tasty, and it was inexpensive (only $5.00) and the ingredients were clearly of good quality and lovingly prepared. But I really don't like the shameless hyperbole--I think it's in pretty bad taste.

this place is super cheap and pretty delicious. although it's definitely not a cheese steak it is a sandwich with cheese (white), steak & a vinegary tomato bbq(?) sauce. they wrap it really well so it doesn't cause a mess. this place is great for lunch and one of the few non fast food places near my job where you can get a filling meal for under 10$.

The sandwiches are solid - especially with the NYU student discount.  It's not Pat's, heck it's not even IB Hoagie's in Berkeley, though that may be the nostalgia giving props, but it's a respectably tasty sandwich for a decent price.  A pretty good bun with tender meat and a tasty one, two sauce/cheese punch.

On its own, the sandwich would merit a three star review, but when considering that it's the only option from that side of the menu, and the other side of the menu is an assortment of CUPCAKES, I give BBs the 4th star.  Stop, if you will, and consider a place where you can buy a cheesesteak and a red velvet cupcake under a single roof?  It's like the United Nations of cholesterol and amazing.

I love this place, and it was right by my student job at NYU, making it very convenient.  With an NYU ID you can get 1 delicious alterna-cheesesteak (don't expect Philly here, it's on a round bun) for $2.75, or $4.50 without that ID.

It's one of the few food places I know where you can order by number of sandwiches and that's it.  No "hold the cheese" or "extra sauce."  You get to say one, two, three or four.  The cheese is "high fat" (the store's description, not mine) and the steak is loaded with a red-chili-pepper-and-onions sauce that's slightly spicy and oh-so-amazing.  Do not try to skip the sauce.  He won't let you, anyhow.

Scrunched into the same shop space is Tonnie's Minis, where the same fabulous NYU discount gets you 2 cupcakes for $2.  I don't think they're that much more otherwise.  The cupcakes are always moist, and the frosting is buttercream, so I couldn't be happier.  I've had vanilla, strawberry, red velvet... pretty much every kind they come out with.

So, for under $5 (sans drink), I can walk out of this place stuffed.  What a great deal.

No self-respecting cheesesteak lover would enjoy this place.  Sorry to be the one to offer the dissenting opinion, but that sauce simply does not belong on any sandwich with steak and cheese.

If you're a new yorker, don't bother.  If you're from philly, cross to the other side of the street before passing this place on foot.  If you're a tourist, please don't judge "new-york style" cheesesteaks by the noxious substance they serve here.

The only possible reason i can foresee for ordering a cheesesteak at this shop is that they offer discounts to broke NYU students.  Considering how small the sandwiches are, i still don't think this makes it much of a deal.

But hey, maybe that's just me.  Judging from other reviews, some people apparently think those cheesesteaks are the best thing to hit new york since the republican national convention.

I flounced into this place today feeling kind of spry and ordered two sandwiches, one chicken and one beef cheesesteak.  This had to be the NASTIEST sandwich that I've tasted since I ate that wretched Angus steak burger at Burger king. I never thought something would taste worse than BK's trash in a bun but these two sandwiches beat it hands down.I walked away looking like Paul Giamatti 6 minutes into American Splendor. disgusting.

This super-tiny place specializes in a single sandwich - a 'New York' interpretation of the Philly Cheese Steak that's tasty and surprisingly light.  The sandwich is the standard sliced steak, white American cheese (no provolone or Whiz options), specially prepared onions, and a spicy ketchup on a round Kaiser roll.

Doesn't sound like it should work but it does.  It's $4.50 a sandwich and it's possible to eat two in a sitting.  I went with one and a Tonnie's cupcake (the only other thing they sell in the place) and was fine.

Overall, I'd say I prefer a Philly-style cheesesteak but this interpretation deserves its due...

Great cheesesteak at a great value (especially with the NYU discount). Not the healthiest thing in the world... I think I feel my arteries clog after each bite. Perfect size though as its not too big.

Added bonus are Tonnie's cupcakes. The red velvet is spectacular. I also liked the carrot cupcake.

Kickass cheesesteaks!  The best in the city by far!  They're definitely not Philly Cheesesteaks... the only place you can really get one of those is Philly.  But these are damn good. As the owner once told me... The secret is in the onions. So make sure you get it the way they normall serve it.

Also if you're an NYU student you get a pretty cheap deal here!

BB brought the cheesesteak to New York long before it was the latest cuisine du jour, and in very un-New York fashion, they've managed to keep their menu simple (the only food item is the cheesesteak sandwich) and their prices low. Granted, Carl's Steaks and 99 Miles to Philly sling up some good sandwiches, but I'm hard-pressed to walk out of either without spending about ten bucks. BB's version--with sliced rib-eye, four-hour marinated onions, white American cheese, and a crusty Kaiser roll--is only $4.50.

By no means a true philly cheesesteak, double b is great for what it is.  Philly style steak sandwiches with cheese.  Two of my favorite signs in the City are located in this tiny hole in the wall where they split the tiny space with another business; 1) the store hours are from 10Am to sold out, and 2) the menu says 1 for $4.5, 2 for $9,  3 for $13.5, etc. etc.  At $4.5 these are a bargain and quite good.  And since its the only thing they sell, you don't have to think about what you you want, only how many.

i'm not a professional critic when it comes to cheesesteaks. though i've done my fair share of dining out ,i dont know what a reallly good cheesesteak would taste like in the minds of philly cheesesteak fans, But this place is definately the best i've tried. the juices just flow out and causes you to drool right before biting in to that delicious litle thing. this pace is awsome and though there might be cheesesteak pros that dont like it, for the rest of us individuals, this is definately a more then eatable meal..

i went during daytime and there was nobody except me and another gentlemen that ordered a tea and a croissant(strange). the people there were nice enough to feel "humble"(I'm not joking), maybe it's because it was the start of day or something. they even socialized a little with the massage people next door. the steak sandwich is completely worth it for its cost. I asked why the discount was only given to NYU students and not the Newschool Students that lived very close too. the guy at the counter promised me to ask about it, so if you go, you know what to do.(report back to muah!)

Intrigued by the idea of a sandwich shop with only one item, I opened the door. I was somewhat hoping for a Philly Cheesesteak, but this version was ok. For $4, the value was right on, but I found the chili sauce/ketchup to be very salty. It ended up masking the other elements of the sandwich. The meat, onions, and cheese were good as was the roll, but I'd go back if I could forego the sauce.
