When you have a baby you are told to "interview" pediatricians. I never knew what questions to ask and through sort of a crap shoot we ended up at Bayside with Dr Tina Hong and we love her!
It is a busy practice and she is a mom with young kids and a full patient load, but all that goes away when she comes in the exam room and closes the door. It is like my child is her only patient. She is friendly and clearly very knowledgeable.
We always have the same medical assistant, who is great! And every time I have called with a question the doctor on call has gotten back to me promptly. They are flexible with the vaccine schedule we chose.
My only complaint is that they do not have an after hours advice nurse on call. They do use a service, but the nurse is not with the practice and it is $25 a call...not that big a deal.
I would recommend both the practice and Dr Hong to other parents!!
I love this group!
My son was born almost 5 weeks ahead of time so we didn't have time to research pediatricians by the time he was born. The hospital just gave us a doctor from Bayside.
4years later we moved counties and we're still with Bayside and i love the doctors, assistants. Staff is a little moody sometimes! lol... My kids are always at ease (xcept for shots!) when going to the doctor.
I would definitely recommend Bayside. However, if you have a concern always voice it! Don't expect to have your mind read!
We love our pediatrician (Janet Perlman), and some of the office staff are great. Some of the office staff, however, are pretty terrible. I don't know why, but sometimes when I make appointments, they treat me like I'm the bane of their existence for asking that they look in the books for a more convenient time. Other times, they've told us we were going to get a call back from a Dr., and lost the message. When you have a health question or a sick baby, that is definitely not what you want.
On the plus side, Dr. Perlman is pretty great. Knowledgeable and always respectful of our choices (one of the few doctors we found who didn't look down on homebirthing). The times I've talked to other doctors there, it has always been positive. The medical assistants are great, and super good with our baby, they really seem to like their jobs.
