Dude, these apartments can get pretty sketchy, but damn, I have had some good times here. I had a friend who lived here, and the state of the housing grossed me out at times, but I think Baypointe is at least trying to improve to improve its image (they painted the outside at the end of last summer).
But Baypointe is a unique housing complex because it is vast and it is in PB, thus a lot of parties are had there between the neighbors. And the apartments are pretty big so a lot of international folk room together because living in PB ain't cheap ... It ain't glamorous either, but it sure can be fun.
The pool is a place where the residents can be found commiserating or taking in the SoCal sun. It is a nice residence for friendly and social people who don't mind living in broken down apartments.
Hey, not all of us can afford to live in the Costa Verde Towers, but at places like Baypointe, you at least have the opportunity to meet interesting people who like having fun. -

DO NOT RENT!! This place is a waste of your money. The management is rude and near impossible to work with. Getting something fixed in a timely manner takes a miracle. The quality of most everything is poor to even-poorer. Then when you finally get to the end of your lease, and you are counting down the hours to leave, they go through you move out inspection and try to milk you for everything. Dust on window sill and light fixtures can cost upwards of $200 to clean here in San Diego apparently. Make sure to mark EVERYTHING on your move in sheet; I mean if there is a speckle of dirt on the ceiling it could come back to haunt you in the form of a $200 deduction from your deposit. This is by far the worst place I have lived in my entire life. RUN AWAY AND DO NOT RENT!!

Great location close to the bay and beach with a lot of great amenities but rather small and dated units that are fairly pricey.

I lived here from February to November of 2004. While the people running the place were friendly enough, they screwed me over on move-in day. I had agreed to lease a 3rd floor, south facing studio, and when I went to pick up the key was told that had been rented - wtf - but that I could have a first-floor, north facing one instead, which ended up being the darkest place I had ever lived.
Other problems came about. The area is central college kid land and so there were many, many pool parties at all hours. It was one thing on Friday and Saturday nights, quite another on a Tuesday morning at 4 am. Not to mention how much of a pain it was to get up and find the pool filled with furniture when I tried to do morning laps, because as the other reviewer noted, the gym was laughable.
Additionally, my car was stolen from the lots once and broken into another time, to which Bay Pointe was largely indifferent. They did have someone tow my replacement rental car for not having a permit though. My studio was pretty expensive - high 800s - and I generally disliked this place. -

I lived here for about 18 months. I guess you get what you get living in PB but for the money there are better options. The staff is not very friendly and the place can get pretty ghetto. There is a SERIOUS cockroach problem. I had to spray all of my doorways every week to keep them out and they still got in from time to time. The courtyards have them EVERYWHERE at night. It really is disgusting and embarrassing when you have guests over.
I know they have been doing a lot to update the property and grounds and it looks a million times nicer then it did a few years ago but I still don't recommend it.
The parking situation is terrible there too. I was allowed 2 spots and only used one. I was none- the-less towed on 2 occasions. Once for parking in the leasing office spaces (which you are allowed to do after hours) but I forgot to move my car early in the morning. I understand it on principal but they have your vehicle info on file. Wouldn't it be just as easy to call me and let me know I need to move my car as it would be to call the tow company and have it removed at a $300 price tag to me. Another time I was towed because they were resurfacing a lot and needed my car moved and didn't bother to call and ask me to do it. Granted they only moved it to another lot on the premises but the tow company still billed me $100 which I refused to pay.
I believe they are now using a parking management company which boots cars and charges them to have it removed. I know there are serious parking problems in PB but targeting your tenant's doesn't seem like a smart strategy! Anyway I am glad to be out of here and out of PB for that matter... I miss the beach but that's about it and I can always drive there.
