3 reviews for Bay Voyage Inn
We decided to have Sunday brunch here at Bay Voyage Inn since Jamestown is on our way to Newport. Brunch price for adults is $29.95 and $11.95 for kids. Brunch includes a buffet selection of salads, smoked salmon, fruits and cheeses, omelette station, prime rib, hot breakfast and lunch entrees, pastries, desserts, juices, coffee and tea. Champagne and other alcoholic drinks are extra.
Our table at the balcony overlooks the Jamestown Bridge and the Narragansett Bay. It was a very memorable brunch with good, plentiful food and fantastic views. Staff was friendly though sometimes works at a relaxing pace.
Bottom Line: Their Sunday Brunch is good as a treat or to commemorate a special event. Reservations recommended.

Talk about lucky...
I was planning to go down to Newport last weekend for restaurant week with my friend. We had Saturday night reservations so we'd probably leave early, spend the day in Newport, eat dinner and go back to Providence. That Thursday, she IM's me at work saying she just got us a free condo for the weekend. One of her co-workers has a timeshare here that they decided they weren't interested this year so she snatched it up and we had a place to stay for the weekend.
Our suite was up on the third floor facing the bridge to Newport, a great view at night. The suite had a just large enough bedroom, comfortable living room and kitchenette, and a decent sized bath. Bed was soft, couch was not. It seems like the place was designed just for summer use though. The suite was a little cold when we returned Friday night and after looking around, the only source of heat seemed to be a space heater/ac wall unit in each room. There were no baseboard heat or forced hot air vents to be found. We woke the next morning to find the Providence Journal outside our door and after we checked out, we found a common room on the first floor with some smaller local papers and comfy chairs to enjoy your paper from.
Come for the Sunday Brunch. Seriously, it is DELICIOUS. Trays and trays of delicious eggs, veggies, fish, salads, and desserts, plus omelette, prime rib, and belgian waffle stations. There are beautiful water views and the staff is friendly and attentive.
Bay Voyage has a lot of history in Jamestown (the building actually sailed across Narragansett Bay about 100 years ago) and is a great place for a special occasion dinner or brunch (I have had great experiences here for Mother's Day, birthdays, and graduations) and would also be awesome for a small wedding reception!

History
Established in 1889
Sir James Brown was born in Wakefield, RI in 1828. Brown lived in Savannah, GA until the time of the Civil War. In 1864, he returned to Rhode Island and made his home at the famed Rhoda Ridge, designed by George C. Mason, in Newport.
Brown had a dream of moving his home across the bay to the vacation island of Jamestown. Within a short time, the dream became a reality. Brown commissioned Nelson Titus to conduct the move. Captain Sutton and his legendary steam tug, the Relaince, brought the residence three and a half miles across the bay. The Rhoda Ridge found a new home on a slice of land, known as the Bryer Plat and a new name, "The Bay Voyage". Brown proudly ran this historic inn until his death in 1893. Some say his spirit still lives in these walls. His daughter Ida then took over, followed by his granddaughters, Augusta and Alice. In the 1950's it was the Olsen family, the then Coleman's in the 1970's. The Bay Voyage Inn became a Wyndham World Wide Vacation resort in 2005.
