OK, I live literally right next door to this place so I have the inside-inside scoop here. Since I'm technically a neighbor of this place, take my review with a grain of salt. So this review is not too long, my format is a little different than normal.

+
1. It's on the water (on a nice day, can't beat this one)
2. Shrimp salad sandwich is good and more than you can eat
3. Happy hour is a GREAT deal (bogo on anything) - but get there before the cover (Which I think is around 6pm)
4. Did I mention it's on the water?

-
1. the sand is nasty b/c it's rarely raked or cleaned
2. The guys there are "gropey"
3. The ladies are more ho-ish and wear more makeup the later it gets (for some guys, this might go in the above mentioned category!)
4. The food is awful (other than the shrimp salad sandwich)
5. There's a cover -booo
6. Late night fights are not uncommon
7. The music inside is WAY too loud (and no, I'm not like 100 yrs old)
8. The food and drinks, sans happy hour are way over priced
9. You'll feel like you should have come in a Camaro the longer you stay here.
10. Late night yelling and car racing down Boston street makes the neighbors want to cause you bodily harm.
11. At times this place is so W.T. it seems as if it is a reincarnation of Ho-Baggers... er I mean Bohagers.

Some people say Baltimore looks best from the rear view mirror.  But you can't deny it grows on you like fungus and mold...becomes part of your natural flora.  Bay Cafe is one of the spots which makes Bmore unique.  Food...overpriced.  Service...spotty.  Beer...burp.

C'mon, you're in the middle of Baltimore and you're in a freakin' beach!  Not the crazy spring break action you'll find at the Power Station, but still a nice get-away in the hot humid summer months to forget your troubles for one night.  After all, you are living in Baltimore.

So we came here looking for some food on the water, and found out there was a $5 cover. However, we were told that we would get $5 off of our meal. We didn't realize that only the overpriced entrees counted. However, the cost already being sunk, we decided to order the meals. My food was pretty gross, and the service was borderline abysmal (it took forever to flag down the waitress to get our check). I understand that they are busy, but it took a long time to get our food. Also, the drinks were watered down the point of having basically no alcohol.

I can't understand why people come here.

I'm no barfly, and so I really like Bay Cafe's environment.  It's relatively QUIET there, usually.  The crowd isn't too rowdy and I generally get the sense that the people there are there for a relaxing, laid back experience.  (Although, last time I was there, I saw a girl throw up in a trashcan, which was less than thrilling).  If you sit outside on the water, you can chat with friends while enjoying the nice view of the harbor with city lights reflecting off of it.  Great for good conversation.  The only food I've had there is french fries (which were above average), so I can't comment on the cuisine.  I keep returning for the atmosphere since it's really nice, as mentioned.

The outside area has a beachy look and feel, including nice soft sand that sort of invites people to take off their shoes.  The soft sand comes in really handy if, say, you get kind of drunk and decide to pick up your future husband, and then fall over.

I met with 8 other gals for dinner. I had never been
here before
and was looking forward to it. It wasnt excatly want I had pictured in my mind
but it was
still nice.

We sat out in the patio area which is closed in and heated during the winter.
It was dark
and you couldt see much out on the water.

Thursday night they have a special of Prime Rib for $10.95 with 2 veggies and a
roll. It
was GOOD, The menu is small and they seem to have a nice selection of salads
and
sandwiches.

I had a mango colda which was yummy!

This is a beautiful area to go especially during the summer months.  It is right on the water.  I have never gotten to eat here, almost but maybe one day.  The outside area is great they have a bar and dance floor.  Its not that big, but decent enough.  The drinks are normal prices, nothing special, overall this is a nice place to go on a date, romantic, have some drinks and look out at the water.  Also good for some chit chat with friends.

Good crab cakes, very good seafood chowder, and nice location right along the waterfront.  Sit outside if you can.

The atmosphere is great.  If you are looking for a fun night out on the Canton waterfront, I would definitely recommend this place.

The food is good but not great.  The service is very very slow.  If you are looking for a nice quiet dinner, look elsewhere!
