I came here to browse bridesmaid dresses with my engaged friend. It was a weekday night and there were a good amount of customers. I guess they were getting ready for summer weddings!
The workers here are so nice and accommodating. They had a large variety of dresses with different kinds of fabric. My friend took pictures of several that she liked. We also went to look at veils and hairpieces and they were gorgeous! and pricey. My friend wants to come back here to browse again, and this time we'll narrow it down.
There was a sign that no drinks were allowed. We were going to put our Verde drinks on the table, but they offered to put it in the back. I thought that was kind of them.Comment from Desiree R. of Bay Area Bridal / New Things West 1/24/2012

Review from Chas A.
I had to write an updated review based on the service that I've received on the phone. Though I did not purchase my bridal gown at Bay Area Bridal, I was interested in going in to take a look at their bridesmaid dresses. I was also very happy with the customer service and attention that was given when I was shopping in their bridal gown department that I thought it would be a place that I could trust.
However, when I called in earlier this month I asked for a price quote on a certain dress. The woman on the phone, which happened to be Nikki, told me she'd give me a call back to let me know. I waited for 3 hours, but there was not a phone call back. I was a bit disappointed, but I thought they may have just been busy and swamped with customers. I called back a couple of days later and spoke with another sales representative who asked me if I had purchased my gown at the store. I told her that I did not, but that I still wanted a price quote on a bridesmaid dress. She gave me the quote within 2 minutes. After consulting with my bridesmaids, I called back for another price quote on another dress. Unfortunately, the same thing happened with the call back. The woman told me that she'd call me back, but did not. I, therefore, decided to call in the very next morning to schedule an appointment to take a look at bridesmaid dresses. Nikki was the person who answered the phone this time. I noticed she was rather friendly. I told her of my interest to make an appointment for the upcoming weekend, though I knew there would be a possibility that they would be booked. Nikki told me they were full for the weekend, then asked if I had purchased my dress at the store. I'm not so sure why this question popped up again. Anyhow, I told her I wanted to come in and still take a look at their bridesmaid dress selection. She may have been busy, so she told me to just give the store a call back when I've made a decision as to when I should come in.
Based on my recent experiences, I've come to notice that their personal (face to face) service is so much more different than their phone service. With that being said, it's possibly just always better to go in when you have a question or would like to know more about any of their gowns.Listed in: Nuptial Bliss

First visit-5 stars
It was my first time trying on a wedding dress. Niki was my consultant. She's is sooooooooooooooooo nice. Love her. I came to the store with a dress in mind...Maggie Sottero SaBelle. I was in luck because they had one for me to try on. I tried that one on first and instantly fell in love with it. She also pulled many other dresses for me to try on. All were beautiful but my heart was set on the first dress. I couldn't believe that I found "THE ONE" on my first dress shopping experience. I ordered it that day. Wedding dress done! That was easy!
Minus one star because when my Maggie Sottero Sabelle lace-up wedding dress arrived...I noticed when I got home that the strap to lace-up the dress was shredding. So I called them and told them about my problem. The gal on the phone asked me is it the thick or thin strap? I was confused because my dress only came with a thin strap. I wasn't aware it came with both. RED FLAG were they trying to screw me out of a measly strap or was it an honest mistake?! She did not apologize at all. But she did reorder both straps for me.
Future brides...make sure to ask them what comes with the wedding dress you order. -

I actually had a great experience here. I had finally found my perfect wedding dress and I emailed to see if they had it in stock. When I arrived, they had trouble finding the dress but eventually located it. The bridal consultant was great and very nice. She seemed new and wasn't that knowledgeable. But she was still a nice person which counts a lot in my book. I did end up buying the dress but I eventually found another one which I actually wore for my wedding. Also, the dress was a sample so the price was super low. I don't think you're going to find a larger selection anywhere in the area so if you're getting married, it's worth a visit!

This place is open late and also on Sundays - perfect for anyone with a busy schedule. I've always had pleasant interactions with the staff here - very friendly, although my consultant wasn't that helpful in guiding me towards styles - if you know what you want, this place is great. They have a lot of inventory, and it seems they're pretty organized - I've always gotten a call back when I've asked questions about styles in stock or pricing. Although I didn't find my dress here, this is my first stop for bridesmaid dresses. because they seem pretty easy to work with. It's easy to get appointments, so call ahead, but I've also been accommodated as a walk-in before - the staff are really nice here.

So, this was my first stop. I literally had no idea what I was doing. I too, had Nikki as my consultant. She was so helpful and patient. I'm sure she had worse than me. But, I still couldn't stop thanking her as my dresses got better and better. My bridesmaids all liked different dresses. But, just when I thought I was going to try them all on again...she brings in another dress that she "saved for last." IT WAS THE ONE... in my price range, the perfect color, material and we called it a day! I didn't think I would have such a stress free experience. I will add a photo post wedding so my fellow yelper/fiancé will be surprised =)

This was my third appointment after a long day of trying on dresses. So needless to say, I was probably a little tired and grumpy.
The store location was with a lot of stores and is on the second floor. Upon walking in, it seemed a little overwhelming - you're hit with the rainbow of colored bridesmaid dresses. They make you enter your information into a computer which was a little awkward. Once you're done, you are led back to a large space to try on dresses and given a binder. The binder has a lot of dresses where you select your top four or five. From there, the consultant narrows down what you are looking for.
I tried on a lot of dresses and my consultant was very nice. Perhaps it was because I was with my parents and two girlfriends but she wasn't pushy, wasn't salesy and was very nice.
I didn't find my dress here but found a bunch that were definitely in the running. I was slightly put off by the shop - it's florescent lighting ad could probably do with a new rug (the red is a little dated) but they have a great selection at good prices. All of the dresses I tried on were less than $1500. -
Review from Ellie F.
I have to go with a solid A-OK on this one, emphasis on the OK. I came here twice shopping for a bridal gown (once without my mom, once with), and each time they gave me the same sales associate. That would typically be a good thing, except I wasn't that impressed with my sales associate the first time around.
This woman asked me the same inane questions over and over, had absolutely no clue what kind of dress I would like (after seeing multiple dresses on and what I was responding well to vs. what I hated), had no interesting points or insights, and spent 5-10 minutes explaining to me and mom just how a corset back works. Thank you for that profoundly detailed explanation of how a lace up dress is easier to get a perfectly tight fit than a zipper - I could never have grasped that concept without it.
Despite the less-than-stellar experience with our associate, I did find a dress that I really liked and ended up purchasing. When I bought it, they told me to forget about it for a few months and not bother them - and that "no news was good news." Fine with me! I have plenty of other things to worry about.
With the holidays coming up (and me going out of town), I started to wonder what was happening and figured I should probably check in. So I pulled out my contract, and lo and behold there are stipulations that *I* am responsible for checking on my ship date, I have to inspect the dress within 7 days of arrival, and any day they have it longer than 30 they charge me a storage fee. I was floored! The general estimate is four months, and I was within it, but imagine my terror that the dress had somehow shipped way before expectations and I was going to owe extra $$$ on this dress!
Luckily, I called and they had just received it that day - it was still boxed up and not even in the system yet. That was a close one! I picked it up without much to-do. Someone let me try on some pretty earrings, but no one tried to sell me shoes or accessories. I sort of had to chase someone down to help me into/out of the dress.
Squarely A-OK. -

I had a wonderful experience at Bay Area Bridal earlier today! Jessica was warm, helpful and relaxed throughout the whole experience. She made me feel good, made suggestions where appropriate and also made my mom, godmother and sister-in-law feel good about helping me. There was no pressure to buy anything and she stayed within my budget. She also has a great eye- as she was the one who found "the dress" and it was the first one I tried on! It helped that I had gone shopping elsewhere to narrow down what I wanted since they have a large selection. The owner spoke with us after and was very friendly and congratulated me on finding my dress. Everyone else I saw in the store was cheerful and nice too. I highly recommend visiting Bay Area Bridal.
Bonus that there are quite a few places to grab a bite to eat after :) -

I went here back in June when my best friend was planning her wedding. I made the reservation as I was MOH. This place is filled with many dresses.... correction... A TON, EXCESS, PLETHORA of dresses. It can be quite overwhelming if this is your first time. They hand you a HUGE binder full of wedding gowns. The consultant will ask you which styles you like, what your budget is like, then from that she quickly pulls several dresses for you to try on. The process was simple, pretty quick and not really personable in my opinion. Our consultant was super sweet though. I can't recall her name. Personally, I don't care for venues like this. I wished the viewing area was a bit more private for the bride and her friends and not out in the open with 5 other groups in the store, all loud and laughing hysterically. I also wished the chair I was sitting on wasn't broken making me feel like my fat ass broke it when I sat down. HAHAHAH. On a more serious note, as I was saying before I got side tracked... you lose the personable touch, the non-rushed 1:1 consultation, the quietness, the experience of going "OH MY GOD, I'M GETTING MARRIED", the luxury lounge where mom starts to tear up, oh, and the champagne. Heck, if I'm going to drop over $3K on a wedding gown, you best be pouring that champagne for me with a quickness. Ha, I kid, I kid. I think I'll just stick to the smaller boutiques with specific designer gowns when I start dress shopping.

Stop #2 on my wedding dress hunt. Mine was the first appt on a Friday morning and we had the place to ourselves. My attendant, Mariela, was superb! Very friendly, eager to help me find exactly what I thought I wanted....brought in dress after dress after dress. The dressing room was large and the platform area was HUGE!
Didn't find 'the' dress here...but the service was great. Didn't feel rushed at all.....lots of good advice about changes that could be made to certain dresses that I liked but might be in need of a tweak or two.
It feels a little like a warehouse....not bad...just super tall ceilings and the store is really, really big. You tell/show them what you're looking for and they show up in your dressing room with mounds of dresses. -

Bay Area Bridal is a very comfortable salon to go to. First, the good parts:
1. They are very knowledgeable staff people and are willing to take the time to listen to you.
2. They have a great selection.
3. They really care about how things look, are willing to offer their opinions, but only if you tell them that's okay!
4. Everyone is VERY friendly. No grumpy faces!
5. They encourage you to take pictures! I spent 2 hours there the day I bought my dress and no one even tried to get me to leave before I was ready!!!!
For the few things they could fix:
1. They do get busy, (because it's such a great place) and when they are busy it can be difficult to hold someone's attention. This is why I suggest an appointment...that way they are ready for you.
2. Make sure to keep consistency with consultants. When I went to buy my dress, which I had an appointment for, I got passed between 3 different consultants. Had I not already picked out my dress, I would have been very upset because no one was giving me any devoted attention. This was, however, a one time experience as all the other times I went there I DID get the devoted attention.
Overall, I am VERY satisfied with Bay Area Bridal and feel very safe in having them be my dress store. The owner is very attentive to details. It turned out that the shoes I bought were discontinued before they could place the order and she personally called me, with new options she thought I would like, and told me what was happening. I went back a few days after she called and found an amazing pair of shoes.
Also, Ina, the jewelry maker is spectacular. She will custom make your jewelry to match your dress and she is even doing a bit of embellishments for my shoes!
Thanks again!!! Can't wait for my special day! -

My sister is getting married this Fall and we had a great experience at Bay Area Bridal. We had two appointments that day, one in the morning for bridal and bridesmaids and one in the afternoon with Bay Area Bridal for the bridesmaids only. After a horrifying morning experience, my sister called Bay Area to see if she could try on Bridal. They were very accommodating and even able to reserve a private bridal suite for her (which makes ALL the difference in the world). Elizabeth was our consultant and she worked her butt off for us. She had a great attitude and really focused on what the bride wanted. Elizabeth = Fantastic. My sister bought her perfect dress from them and we will be ordering our bridesmaids dresses through them as well.

I went to 4 bridal salons before going to bay area bridal and finally got my dress here. I'm really writing this review for Nikki...who is the BEST BEST BEST bridal consultant I've met with or seen in action. She was really sweet and had great advice. She should really be getting 5 stars, but I also have to take the salon into account too :) The salon itself was PACKED with dresses, but still roomier than Trudy's. They actually had pretty much all the dresses that Trudy's had as well. If you go here, I highly suggest you book Nikki, b/c she will take your experience from a 5 to a 10.

You know, I have to say I walked into Bay Area Bridal expecting a one-star experience. I've helped other friends shop around for gowns in the past, but this was my first time shopping for my own gown. Since I arrived on a whim, I didn't have friends or family with me. Nikki greeted me and although she had no openings in the coming hours, she helped me out until she had to meet her client for an appointment. Lucky for me, the client canceled. I worked with Nikki very closely for over an hour. She listened to what I wanted (simple, flowy, romantic, elegant) and stayed within my price range. She was honest, open, accommodating and a pleasure to work with. She took my picture in each gown and excitedly waited while my mom called back with her opinion, and friends texted theirs.
If you are looking for a fancy-shmancy spot that will bring you sparkling water and make you feel exclusive, this is not the place for you. It is a giant wedding dress warehouse. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a good deal, great service (from Nikki), and you have a fun-loving attitude and an open mind, it IS possible to have a great experience! -

I loved the store! I didn't even walk in when I started loving their dresses , they have a great selection! Before I had tried on about 40 dresses, every time I went to a local store, they did not have the dresses I wanted to try on, so it was really frusterating, but when I went to bay area bridal I had about 10 dresses I wanted to try on but they only let you try on 5 But I Didn't even make it to the third when i found my dress! It's beautiful and every penny is worth it! My consultant was Jessica she is great very polite and not pushy at all! So My dress will get here in about 4-6th months and I cant wait till it gets here!!!!! Thanks bay area bridal!

Ok fine, I admit it. I'm a bridezilla. So what?
Being that my family is very opinionated, i decided to leave them out of the search and until I've narrowed it down to a few gowns i liked and was ready to make a solid decision.
BAB is a VERY busy salon, so appointments are neccessary! I was greeted right away when I arrived and most of the consultants are very polite and cordial. I can't find one negative thing to say about the service.
In my search for the perfect wedding gown, I went to 10 bridal salons and tried on more than 50 dresses.... None of them "wowed" me. BAB was probably the third salon I went to. The first consultant I had, brought out dresses I wasn't crazy about, and it looked as if i was a mummy wrapped in tissue paper or something.... So the search continued to other salons where I experienced pushy consultants who tried to pressure me into making a purchase... GRRRR irritated bride......So I wasn't able to find a dress with the "wow" factor and we were running short on time.... So I decided I was going to go with the dress that I liked and made a second appt at BAB and brought my parents, brother, and future mother in law with me. This time, a different consultant, and OH MY it made a WORLD of difference!!
CRISTINA is AMAZING!! So i tried on the dress that i liked. My parents liked it too. Until Cristina said to me "I like this dress, but its not you." So I asked her what she thought was me.... She brought out 5 dresses. These five dresses blew the other dress out of the water~!!! And with each dress, my mom kept saying "This is the one" "no, THIS one is the one!" lol. YES, Cristina is THAT good!
Needless to say, each one got better and better. I ended up choosing the 5th dress she put me in.
The consultant you are paired with makes such a HUGE difference. I wish I met Cristina earlier on in my dress search, that would've made things so much easier!!
Thank you so much Cristina, for not allowing me to settle and helping me find the dress of my dreams that I never knew existed!!Comment from Sandy P. of Bay Area Bridal / New Things West 6/29/2011

I shopped around and I LOVE the service and prices here over so many other bridal shops in the Bay area. I was helped by Nikki (manager) she was so patient with me and brought me what seemed like an endless series of dresses all in the styles I mentioned. She was so accommodating and flattering and she never seemed like she was in a hurry to be finished with me. I took my time and showed off each dress more than once to my Mother and all my bridesmaids plus my two flower girls while they took pictures. After nearly 4 months my dress just came in today! It was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend Nikki at Bay Area Bridal. Thanks Nikki!!

So I had to bump this up to 5-stars. After my initial visit, I made 2 more appointments with Jessica T. She continued to be super awesome and patient with me as I continued my dress search. I loved working with her so much that I kept driving an hour down to Cupertino from SF.
On my 2nd visit, I had completely changed directions in the dress I was looking for and Jessica T. was completely on board with me as we started from scratch and nixed my previous two "top choices". She gave me time in between each dress to look and admire and marinate and think about the dress. She was just so genuine in wanting to find that perfect dress for me for my wedding!
When I was down to my final top two dresses, she was patient and continued to help me with a smile as I made her switch me in between the 2 dresses so I can compare, which meant lots of work for her as it was a corset back dress.
For my 3rd visit, I brought my mother to show her my top 2 choices and then we finally decided on THE dress. The customer service was excellent, and when ordering, I was given all the information I needed to pick the correct size and made sure all the information was correct. Easy-peezy and completely fun experience. Kinda sad it's over...and now I have to wait 4-6 months for my dress to arrive...I miss it already.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Kudos to the team at Bay Area Bridal! I showed up 1 hr late (silly me I thought I could get from livermore to san jose in 45 minutes) and they STILL were able to fit me in on a busy Saturday afternoon. Jean was my bridal consultant and she was great, very warm and funny. One thing I didn't like is I felt like they were pushing the sell, like they kept saying " this dress is on sale, and this dress is 10% off". As this was my first appointment it kind of cheapened the whole thing. And nobody asked my budget which I thought was strange. What if they pulled a $5K dress? It would have been totally over my budget. Plus they carry a butt load of Maggie Sottero and I love her dresses but did not want a corset style dress. Overall, great shop and great experience but they just didn't have what I wanted.

I brought my bridesmaids here to look for their dresses. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to browse while the consultant looked for the dresses we wanted to try on. They had all but one of the dresses we were interested in.
There are mannequins all over the store showing off current wedding dresses. From the dresses they had on display, it looked like the store understood what the latest trends were. So, while I was waiting for my girls to put on their dresses, I admired the wedding dresses. Gorgeous. I almost wanted to get another dress!
The reason I chose this store to go to with my bridesmaids is because they have a webcam. It's a basic, low quality camera, but it was good enough for my out-state maid of honor to see what the dresses looked like on each of the girls. The only issue with the cam is that colors get a little distorted. If the person on the other end is not concerned with colors, only style, then it's no biggie.
Later, I came back with my groom for the groomsmen tuxedos. Again, the staff was very kind and helpful. They have a lot of selection in terms of vests and ties, including skinny ties. The vests and ties are handmade and some even custom made for the bridal couple.Listed in: Wedding Bells

I've come here a few times before, but I wasn't the bride. Each time, the staff is friendly and helpful.
Now that I'm the bride, I came here to try on dresses. I had a list of the dresses I liked & they looked through their system to see if the dresses were at the store. Unfortunately, only a couple were. I was helped by Cristina & she was awesome. She really understood my style & what I was looking for. I always have a hard time believing that someone who has known you for a few minutes could pick out a dress of your dreams, but I felt comfortable letting Cristina pick out my dresses and knowing there wasn't anything else out there that matched what I was looking for.
I would definitely stop here for one your wedding dress hunts. -

Bridal Bliss: Beautiful, Budget-friendly gowns for Brides of all sizes
I'll admit, I completely agree with Ayelet A's review when I didn't expect much when I strolled into Bay Area Bridal, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found my gown there! I have a short engagement which means I had no choice but to buy a gown right off the rack. The gowns I bought met all of my criteria:
-beautiful/unique
-flattering
-met my budget
They were very busy that Saturday afternoon, but one of the consultants told me that I was free to look through all the dresses, take my time and suggested taking note of the dresses I liked. At first, I was half-heartedly going through the dresses, but as I continued through the racks, I was happy to see they had gowns in regular-women sizes (ahem, double digits). After seeing at least 7 dresses I wanted to try on, the consultant checked on us to see how the search was going and then returned about 20 minutes later (I was still quite taken by the selection) to tell us that she would be able to take us for an appointment on the spot!
Kathy, my consultant was the best! She was all about customer service, was able to pick up on my style instantly, and was not at all pushy. She was wonderful and I highly recommend requesting an appointment with her. Even though she didn't want to take any of the credit, I believe the right consultant will help you find the perfect dress. Kathy made the experience fun and personal.
Fellow Brides, I'm here to tell you that Bay Area Bridal/New Things West is a diamond in the rough. It's worth it to visit on a whim if you want to keep it casual, or book an appointment for a guaranteed consultation. -

After looking at a local dress shop (in Walnut Creek, CA) for my wedding dress and having a terrible experience, I went to Bay Area Bridal. the staff was so very friendly and helpful, especially my consultant Vanessa. I was able to find my dream dress, and even purchase the sample dress, which was in great condition. Did I mention I LOVE MY DRESS!! Vanessa even recommended that I get an extra set of flowers that match the ones on my dress to create the perfect hairpiece for my wedding look. Today I picked up the flowers and Vanessa was there and not only remembered me and my dress, she was incredibly helpful and friendly while we looked at Veils (they have a large selection!) hairpieces, and Mother of the Bride dresses. All of my experiences with Bay Area Bridal and Vanessa have made this stage of wedding planning amazing and really made me feel like a bride. THANK YOU!

Review from Sarah S.

One of my friends recently got married and she purchased her dress here. She had a good experience and thus wanted her bridesmaids to get our dresses here as well. They had a good selection and we were able to choose a dress quickly and easily. One of the girls took our measurements and all four of us erred on the conservative side when it came to sizes, choosing the bigger size when our measurements fell between two as is often the case. We did this because we all knew that it would be much easier and cheaper to have the dresses taken in than let out. This is common knowledge and good sense.
Cut to a few weeks later when our dresses arrive and none of them fit. They are all way too small. We were barely able to zip them. We picked the correct sizes according to our measurements and the sizing chart, but apparently the sizing chart from the manufacturer was off. Because of this, we all had to have them let out a significant amount which cost quite a bit. We all felt that we shouldn't have to pay so much as it was not our fault that dresses were too small and we asked that the store comp the alterations. The woman we dealt with insisted that even if the dresses had been made to the correct specifications, we would still have to have had alterations that would have totaled the same amount. Ridiculous. How could she possibly know that? Needless to say she did not comp our alterations nor did she offer a discount or anything else for that matter.
Marina is the lady who does the actual alterations. She is fantastic. She did everything she could and the dresses became wearable. The fit still wasn't great, but there is only so much she could do. The fact that such a talented lady couldn't completely fix the dresses shows how off they were to begin with.
As the liaison between the customer and the manufacturer, the store should have taken care of us. It's good business. If I don't feel taken care of as a customer, I'm not going back and I'm certainly not going to recommend it to my friends. This may have been the one problem I had with Bay Area Bridal, but cost is a big problem to have and I certainly would be worried going that if I went back, I could easily have the same problem. -

This was the first place I tried on dresses, and I was kinda bummed with their customer service. I felt like they didn't genuinely care about my needs. I did end up finding my dress here, but I didn't purchase it from them because I found it somewhere else for a better price.
...and because they carried the preferred brand of the dresses I wanted for for my party, we went on a group trip here. It was super crowded, and no one really "helped" us. We did manage to decide on dresses that ended up looking fabulous on my bridesmaids.
If you want more of a transaction, this is the place to go. You tell them what you want, and you get it. -

I have total mixed feelings about Bay Area Bridal. I bought the most beautiful wedding dress there so I love them for that and can't wait to wear it on my wedding day. I agree with some of the other yelpers that it does seem very crowded, maybe not the smartest use of the space but oh well.
I waited until almost the last minute to buy a wedding dress (or even try one on) because I planned on losing about 40 lbs (and I'm almost there, yay!) before my wedding but wanted to be sure I could actually pull it off rather than order a dress two sizes to small (too risky!!).
Well, when I told my consultant that my wedding day was only 3 months away she kinda freaked out a little and started bringing me only the dresses that were in-stock no matter what they looked like. She did not bring me the dresses I asked for and the ones she did bring looked NOTHING like what we had discussed. I get it. I know ordering a wedding dress takes time. I knew I would be paying a huge premium to rush order a dress because I waited so long. I came to my appointment prepared for this.
I was actually getting pretty frustrated that she was ruining this experience for me. Then her manager came to help and SHE ACTUALLY LISTENED TO ME and within 20 minutes I had my perfect dress!!
Alterations, they recommended I schedule an alterations appt almost right away so I did, only to anger the tailor when I told her I am STILL losing weight. She tells me I can't lose anymore!! Whatever, I'm not going to be a chubby bride just to make her job easier (and alterations are not cheap!). So we'll see how this all works out in the end.
I guess that is a pretty LOOONG winded review, sorry, I guess I needed to vent a little. I could have summed it up with great dresses - lousy customer service. -

Good selection but definitely shop around. I found the same dress at this store. They marked it up, so I went with another store.
You're pretty much on your own to find your dress here. The sales lady barely spoke to us. We grabbed our dresses and went straight to the fitting room.
Just don't expect to be catered here...it's not going to happen. Maybe one day I have the luxury to head to Kleinfeld for my big day. -

I initially put down 300 here to hold the price on a dress. I didn't place my order- in fact they didn't even take my measurements. I literally walked in, told them which dress I wanted, was quoted a price, gave them a deposit to hold the price, and left- I didn't even try anything on, and was there for maybe ten minutes. A few weeks later my bridal party was ready to look for dresses so I called to make sure they had the dress I wanted the maids to try in stock. Nobody returned my call, so I decided to take my business elsewhere. I went back to get my deposit (you know, since they did nothing to earn it and I didn't actually buy anything) and they refused to let me have it back. "Thankfully" they "let" me buy something with it in the store so I didn't lose it entirely, but considering it was essentially a deposit on nothing, that seems extremely greedy.
I would not have yelped them at all for not returning my call had they just given me back my deposit, but I'm still pissed. I hope it was worth the thousands of dollars in sales they lost to not return my call. -

i just came here yesterday to help my sister look for her bridal gown, this place is amazing! the person who helped us is named Denise. Shes a very energetic & bubbly person and amazing to work with. She found all these dresses that flattered my sister. All the dresses were so pretty we had a hard time deciding which one was better! Will definitley come back here again, they have an amazing selection of dresses and accessories!

They have a pretty small selection for such a big store. Most of the samples are huge (sz 12+), so you can't really get an idea for what you would look like in the dress. They don't carry the full lines of the designers that they do carry.
Finally, service was not great. I came in by myself because I don't like traveling with an entourage, and was given short treatment -- I didn't even get a big mirror, just the one in the room. Also, was kept waiting 30 minutes for my appointment (I was on time).
This whole thing with "Vote us the Best of the Bay Area" is super slimy too. If they were good, you'd vote for them without the Yelp ad and the constant emails (to which I have unsubscribed several times).

This review is about a year and a half late but here it is.
I bought my wedding dress here and it was fantastic!
I had gone to other stores already and knew what I was looking for so I gave my consultant Cristina my parameters and she went around and picked dresses that fit what I was looking for and others that she thought I should try on.
Cristina was a huge help and went above and beyond helping me get in and out of dresses, looking for a matching veil and suggesting styles that I hadn't even thought of. She knew what would fit my body and I completely trusted what she brought in for me to try on.
I went shopping with my sister and by that time, we had seen and tried on a lot of dresses so we were pretty calm and not all that excited about trying more on. After a couple that were just ok, I came out with one where my sister just plainly looked up from the magazine she was looking at and said "Wow." That's the one everyone liked. Even the other ladies in the store said the dress was perfect.
I didn't buy my dress the same day but I came back with my BFF and when I saw her tears, it cemented that I needed to have this dress.
I would call to get updates and Nikki (consultant or supervisor?) was super friendly and helpful in getting me all the information and following up with me.
When my dress came in, I was able to try it on again to make sure it fit well and was the petite size I ordered. They suggested alteration places but I had my own tailor so I just paid the remaining balance and walked out with my huge white garment bag and my gorgeous dress.
I have already recommended this place to friends and highly recommend Cristina. She's fashionable, personable and listens very well to what you want.Listed in: Nuptial Bliss

um...I called this place a week ago asking about a bridesmain dress--they had it so I wanted go tried on.
The lady on the phone told me no appointment needed...
Came here on 4/8--before I get here, I called again and now they said they take appointments and especially today they are busy, tthey cannot take me....WTF?!?!
But still they said they may be able to squeeze me in or if someone don't show up....
Long story short, We waited one hours, every 10min they change their stories whether they can take us or not...
A huge selection, small store, very crowded and the consultant was a little pushy...
Left here feel like WHATEVER~~~ -

Our consultant tried to help all five of us, but she was probably pretty overwhelmed. Had to lower my rating due to the selection of BM dresses. Since BAB carries a lot of different designers, it's hard for them to carry every dress design for each designer.
Tip: if you're having a Tiffany Blue wedding, the following designers (that BAB sells) is where you want to seach (in closes to Tiffany Blue order): Impressions, House of Wu, Venus. Dessy is close, but it's darker than the true Tiffany Blue.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I'm sorry to hear that other brides had such a bad experience here, but I for one LOVES Bay Area Bridal! Jessica alone is worth these 5 stars + a good enough reason why you should be coming here! Unfortunately, Jessica was not my consultant, but if she was, I can guarantee you that I would have found my dress a lot faster. After months of searching and going to a handful of bridal shops, I finally said yes to my dress at BA Bridal with the help of Jessica. She was actually the one that suggested my dress to my consultant to have me try on.
Luckily, I was fortunate to have worked with Jessica after I ordered my dress since she was the one that followed through with the ordering process. She was an angel from the very beginning, very organized and always on top of her game. She always updated me, whether through e-mail or a simple phone call, on the status of my dress. I had such a great experience with her that I ended up ordering my BMs dresses from here too! Jessica was always upbeat and friendly, it definitely helped eased a lot of my wedding worries. If you could not tell already, I seriously cannot say enough nice things about Jessica, she totally rocks and BA Bridal is VERY fortunate to have such an enthusiastic employee working for them!
I can honestly tell you that my first visit here was average, I came on a busy Saturday with my BMs and my consultant was relatively new. I gave her an idea as to what I was looking for and showed her the Paloma Blanca I fell in love with. She pulled the exact same Paloma for me to try on again, along with similar styles by Maggie Sottero and Enzoani. Unfortunately, nothing really caught my eye except for the Paloma. I was not ready to say yes to that dress yet and was bit discouraged that I was unable to find anything close from another designer. :(
The search continued and I went to a few other bridal places and sadly, I was horrified by some of the experience. One place even gave me a consultant that completely disregarded what I was looking for and put me into gowns that was nothing close to what I told her that I wanted. I pretty much felt like her Barbie doll for the day. :/ I went back to BA Bridal during a trunk show and everyone there actually remembered me from my first visit! They were very helpful and determined to help me find my dress. My consultant was patient and pulled out dress after dress for me to try on.
Needless to say, customer service here is on point! Not only is that important, but like any other bridal place, the key to a positive experience is to find the right consultant that can run with your ideas and find you "the perfect dress". Not only do they have Jessica + a bunch of other knowledgeable consultants, they also have a great selection of dresses from some very notable designers. Prices are very reasonable and often cheaper than their competitors.
Since my wedding last August, I have already recommended 3 other brides here. They went straight to Jessica and have all found their dresses here as well! Look no further, give BA Bridal a call and book your appointment with Jessica, you won't be disappointed! :) -

All I have to say is if you decide to make an appointment here, make it with NIKKI!! She is absolutely AMAZINGGGGG!! She has been with Bay Area Bridal for over 8 years and has tons of experience on different wedding dresses. I described the dress I was looking for and she pulled a good 10 dresses that were on the mark. From the very first dress to the very last I was so indecisive as to what dress I wanted! Nikki pulled 4 more dresses and the minute I put on the first dress of this 2nd round I knew this was "the one." I walked out glowing, smiling from ear to ear and my mom and sister was like "this is the one." When Nikki brought me back into the room, she quietly said, "I wasn't going to say anything, but right when I put this dress on you, I thought THIS IS IT! It looks AMAZING on you!" I almost started to get all teary eyed, it was awesome! All of the dresses I tried on were corset style and Nikki knew how to get you in one in less than 5 minutes! Nikki definitely made it an awesome experience and I would absolutely recommend her if you come here. Since I ordered a Maggie Sottero I won't be receiving it until the end of November, early December, I CAN'T WAIT!!!
P.S: If you're looking for a high end bridal boutique then this may not be your cup a tea as someone else described below. This is more of a wedding warehouse than a high end small bridal boutique, but this place offers such a variety of dress options at more affordable prices that it is a must to visit :)Listed in: Nuptial Bliss

So I have mixed emotions about this place.
I went here to try on wedding dresses and had a wonderful time. The consultant, Candice, was wonderful and I got to try on a lot of fabulous dresses. I did almost by my dress here but found something better at another store.
I did end up buying my bridesmaid dresses here and this is where I had a problem. I ordered the dresses in early Feb and I rush ordered one as it needed to ship to Texas. The consultant never told me that if I rush ordered one, I needed to rush order all of them. Fortunately she only charged me for the rush order of one, but the dresses were supposed to arrive in March and only showed up on April 13th.
I never received a phone call stating the dresses arrived. I called the store on the 15th of April and they told me someone had contacted me. No one had.
They clearly have communication issues and I am a bit thankful I did not order my wedding dress there. -

Christina is the best! She made the wedding dress shopping experience painless, fun and easy. She was the sweetest most down to earth person in the store. While she walked us to our seats she asked me what style and budget of dress I was looking for. We arrived at our seats and she asked us to wait while she pulled out dresses for me to try on. We went to other stores where we had to look for dresses to try on ourselves so I loved being able to just sit there. It made the experience calm and I felt like I was being taking care of.
Christina, listened and brought the exact dresses that I was interested in. The second dress that I tried on was beautiful and I thought to myself this girl is good! Then she says 'There's a couple of other dresses that I want you try on". So we waited in the dressing room while admiring the beaiful dress and she brought in two more dresses. Of the two, the first one I tried on was "the dress" it was "the one." It was the dress that I pictured in my head and it was everything that I was looking for. One shoulder, romantic , soft chiffon dress that was simple but elegant. I tried on the second dress but I stopped there. I knew I found the one.
I told Christina that I would purchase the dress but before I did she went above and beyond customer service and found a back panel for the corsette back, a cleaner string for the corsette piece and since I bought the floor dress I received a discount.
Thank you Christina for making this experience so much fun and easy :) I can't wait to wear my wedding dress that you helped me with.
