The most fun you can have on a Wednesday night...that is if you're not creating the story you'll tell at the next Bawdy!

Expect to stay from beginning til end, completely enraptured with the stories, laughing and groaning at the reality of it all. And at times you won't believe it, but the Stories are all TRUE!

And the musical accompaniment is the best - dirty sing-alongs on the ukulele. :)

When my friends explained the event to me, I was expecting to be fairly entertained but I had no idea it would be one of my favorite nights in San Francisco.  It is sure to spark lots of interesting conversation with your friends and is a great place to connect with interesting people. Rumor is that it will be moving to a venue near 23rd and Potrero.  This is an event you wont forget for years!

I stumbled upon Bawdy Storytelling and quickly realized that these are My People. Perverts? Sure, but then again, who isn't? Schemers? Duh. Hot as fuck, smart as hell, and cooler than the other side of the pillow? Well, yeah. That too.

There are eight million stories in any Naked City and every month, Dixie De La Tour presents half a dozen or so at her celebrated salon. She pulls back the black leather eyeshade on kinks, fetishes, perverts, lovers, and everyone who ever looked down a waitress's blouse as she poured you a second cup. Dixie doesn't just want the gory details, she wants the full on overshare. With audio visual accompaniment, if you got it. Be loud like you're in a pay-by-the-hour motel and you registered in as George and Laura Bush.

Keep in mind, these aren't professional speakers. This is the guy in the cube next to you who has FetLife in an open window all day. It's the woman who discovered dad's Playboys while he was out. It's you and your story, everyone's got one. Check out the Bawdy Storytelling and figure out how to get the ball gag out of your mouth and let your story be heard.

I stumbled upon Bawdy Storytelling one night in Clarion Alley, thanks to San Francisco's literary crawl Litquake. I laughed until I cried. The stories are well crafted and organized. Every single one was interesting and hilarious and incredibly well-told. My friend and I went to a different erotic storytelling segment prior to this one during Litquake, but it just rubbed us the wrong way, disgusted us even. But even though Bawdy was explicit too, the way the content was presented was so well done that it became something else: something to empathize with, something to learn from, something to laugh about, something to be inspired by. I went back once more at The Blue Macaw with another friend, and once again we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

Wow. Just wow. I've been a big fan of this event. I go pretty much every month. The lovely and talented Dixie De La Tour is the hostess with the mostess. The story tellers are always top notch.

Some of the naughty stories will make you howl with laughter, some will arouse you and other might bring tears to your eyes. You never know what is going to happen. No one reads from paper (it's a rule) so the stories flow like a fine wine. (This is not a G rated event.)

It's a BYOB event. The crowd is always fun and friendly. Last time the theme was Cougar Confidential and we even got to eat a cougar themed cake and sing Happy Birthday to Dixie. So much fun!

I highly recommend checking it out!

I laughed, I cried. and that was just in one story.
i don't think I've laughed or clapped as hard or as often at any other event. also, its in a very cozy, friendly environment - like a backyard bar-b-cue where everybody's a friend of a friend, not like a club.

Bawdy Storytelling is brash, it is exciting, it is really an event that is so worth going to every single month.  I think the thing that is most exciting, is that it brings up the fact that everyone has amazing, fun stories to share on most subjects.  If I ever would get over my fear of public speaking, i would be up there sharing with such a delightful audience that I see each month.
Dixie rocks it as a host too.  She comes up with stellar subjects, she shares her stories and gets people excited to share theirs.  She is quite diplomatic as i have seen her be ever so gracious in both introducing and cutting off some story tellers.  She also seems to have a knack for choosing excellent and varied story tellers each month.

I love to go to Bawdy!

    I love Bawdy Storytelling.

Where else but in San Francisco can you see REAL people getting up on stage and telling REAL stories that are REAL naughty? :)

From its inception as a large private event thru its evolution to its current presentation in a bar setting, it's been a fabulous night of fun. I've told stories and I've listened to stories, and I always have a good time.

Some of my favorite storytellers have only appeared on the Bawdy stage once, but I also enjoy those who get up every other month or so to add to their impressive list of stories told.

Each month there's usually a loose theme (And I never saw that person again, Too close for comfort, Size queens, etc.) and the stories can be funny, whimsical, thoughtful, and all of the above :)

Currently being held at the Blue Macaw, where you can purchase cocktails to accompany your tales.

Usually happens the middle Wednesday of the month. Check out their website at http://bawdystorytelli... for updates.

One of the best, possibly only, reason to drive midweek to San Francisco from Santa Cruz through rush hour traffic and Hwy 17 zaniness. Dixie and her guests know how to simultaneously titillate and throw down a great yarn.

I've only gone a couple of times, but this is an awesome entertainment value for seven bucks.  I have seen a lot of story telling, and the quality of both the stories and the presentation are phenomenal.  The styles very from the laid back and conversational to high energy ones that keep it clear that you are viewing a performance.  Some are bittersweet, some are just rip-roaringly funny.  All are very polished.

I do agree with Adriane M that this is not a G rated event nor even PG-13 for that matter.  So it's not going to be for everyone.  But if you are comfortable with the sexually explicit, and enjoy smart and funny storytelling, this is a great use of a Wednesday night.
