2 reviews for Bavarian Inn Lodge
We stayed here for three nights and had a fantastic time. I knew the Inn was mostly family oriented, so as a married couple with no children, I worried we might be out of place. This was definitely not the case.
We booked a room with a sliding door to the adults only pool that was mostly private. The room, pool, and other common areas were all very clean. The decor is obviously tacky, but that was the charm of our entire trip.
Wireless internet was convenient with a strong signal.
The in-house restaurant and bar had some excellent food that was quite a surprise! The entertainment was excellent. One man with an acoustic guitar that played basically anything we requested while we ate, without being cheesy or pathetic as is typical for hotel bar music.
They gave us the option of booking an extra night for a reduced rate, so if you plan on going, perhaps you could book your trip a day short to get a deal. Their rewards program also sends you excellent gift certificates.
I had an awesome time at Bavarian Inn, and usually, I am very picky about hotels.
A great place for families with younger kids (10 and under) with 4 family pools (and one adult only pool). Our kids are 10 and 14 - still lots of fun to be had, but kids pools were too small and they weren't allowed into adult pools. (They need an intermediate pool with more space, and a 6 foot depth, for 10 and up, or something.)
There is a family fun center (you know - get tokens, play a game, get tickets and redeem tickets to make you think you got something for your money besides some fun.)
It's a bit of a dark hotel - dark decor, dark wood, smallish hallways and lots of enclosed spaces - and it's *very* clean and well kept - spotless actually.
We dropped by Frankenmuth on the way back from Detroit area, and because we didn't have a solid schedule (long story) we couldn't make reservations. While on the road, tried to get room pricing - and cheapest room was listed as $170....tried to call reservations, but they weren't available late at night... Ended up going elsewhere because we felt we probably weren't going to get use of the amenities for that night. Next day, went over to find out about 2nd night stay - it was $109! Well - if it had of showed that on online reservations, we would have stayed there on Friday night too. Oh well - they lots business. The lesson here? Even though they are hawking their online reservations, might be worth checking with a live person before making a decision.
Overall stay was good - would have no problem coming back. Handy to the shopping district. We were even able to sneak away for a quiet hour in one of the lounges late in the evening we stayed there - benefit of an all encompassing hotel campus.
Would I recommend: Yes, especially families.
Would I return: Yes, no problem. Though with older kids, I might check out some other hotels to see how rates compare - all they really want is a good swimming pool.
