A unique San Francisco store with an amazing variety of cabinet hardware (knobs, drawer pulls, hooks, etc.).  In addition to classic and contemporary pieces, they have pulls that look like lizards, silverware, different breeds of dogs, etc.  It's a fun place to browse, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Bling for your home! We had such a great experience at Bauerware today. Like walking into a jewelry store for cabinetry.

Besides a dazzling, floor-to-ceiling array of cabinet handles and knobs, they also have a great variety of odds and ends like doorbells, door knockers, custom refrigerator handles, toilet paper holders, towel rings, door knobs (including antique repro's)....you name it!  The cabinet knobs/pulls are the star of the show though. Ever had a hankerin' for a cowboy hat knob? Hit Bauerware! Or how about fish knobs? No problem! The shop was whimsical and adorable and just being there was fun.

Of course, they also have plenty of "normal" looking things, for boring and conventional people like me and my husband. We looked at knobs priced from $5 all the way up to $40 each, and walked out of there with exactly what we wanted. They have limited stock on site, though, so if you're looking to buy enough knobs to, say, outfit a whole kitchen, be prepared to wait 2 weeks for your order.

The service was outstanding. The lady who helped us was knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and was genuinely interested in helping us find exactly the right products. Two thumbs way-up for Bauerware!!!

Stopped in here looking for a rare item.  The store was very neat and well stocked.  They didn't have what I was looking for but they took the time to recommend another business that might be able to help me.  Great customer service!

I guess Yelpers are not into DIY.  I'm not either, given I'm a renter.  I do love a good DIY show like House Doctor (UK) but that's the extent of my remodeling interests..  However, recently with all my spare time I've had nothing better to do than spend even more time being annoyed about small things around the apt that have been bothering me for the past 2 years.  With nothing else to occupy my brain these small problems have become huge in my mind.  Luckily, I have both the time and motivation now to do something about it.

After going to the hardware store and changing out electrical covers with 40 years of grime on them (yes, they could have been washed and replaced but were textured to optimally attract more grime so I chose to replace them with smooth ones, easy to clean), my next battle was with the closet door handles.  Now, they couldn't have been that bad since I had been using my closet for 2 years.  However, they were made out of the cheapest most unergonomic (not to mention) ugly material.  It was time for a change.

So off to Bauerware......

Lucky for me that I live so close to the mecca of knobs and pulls (technical terms for handles).  Bauerware is full of all kinds of knobs and pulls in different designs and finishes.  The staff are very friendly and helpful, but some are more knowledgeable than others.  I went in two separate times and got conflicting information (knocking off 1 star for each time I was given wrong information).  The short Asian chick with the spiky hair is the most informative of all the assistants and I highly recommend you talk to her if you can.

It's amazing what a difference changing out hardware makes.  It has really updated the look of my apartment, at least in my eyes.

Bike Parking: v weak.  Luckily my bike looks v natural tied to the tree.

Four stars for service and selection of items that can be ordered, but two stars for pricing. $20+ for pulls made in China? Great selection but premium pricing - shop around and you will see.
