My boyfriend and I stayed here just for one night while we were visiting Santa Barbara.  We had a really great time.  This B&B is cozy and a great vibe.

We arrived around 5pm and were let into the main house where there were cakes, cookies, tea, lemonade, and iced tea being served.  We grabbed some drinks and sat down while Marie (one of the owner's) was finishing up helping others who arrived before us.  At 5:30pm white wine and cheese was served.  We had a few glasses and relaxed in the main house.  When we finished up Marie was helpful with giving us maps of the area and showing us how to get to the restaurant we made reservations for.  She showed us our room which had its own entrance on the side of the house.  We stayed in the Garden Room.  It was a cute little room with a double jacuzzi and shower.  The bed was incredibly comfortable.  When I woke up I felt completely relaxed.   We had a t.v. in the room which plays vhs.  We tried to watch some vhs movies but it needed to be cleaned and we didn't have that vhs cleaner.  In the morning we went out to the patio to have breakfast.  My boyfriend and I are both vegans and were able to have the homemade granola (contains honey, we don't care about honey).  Also had some orange juice, coffee, and fresh watermelon.

I loved staying in this place.  It was really a great place and everyone was so friendly and helpful.  I also really liked the old photographs of the house and the owners.

This is BF and my second experience of staying in a B&B.  The first time was at an upscale B&B in San Diego.  In comparison, Bath Street Inn was more homey and intimate.

The rooms at Bath Street Inn was a bit rustic but charming nonetheless.  We stayed at Partridge room which was less feminine compared to the other rooms.  It's located on the second floor and has direct access to both the back door leading to the patio/small parking and to the mini library/cozy reading area located on the third floor.  There's also a small private balcony off the bathroom.  The bed and pillows were softer than what we're accustomed to but we still slept good.

Breakfast was served rather early from 8am to 9:30am.  1st course was Fresh fruit, homemade granola with low fat yogurt, coffee and orange juice.  2nd course was eggs Florentine and blueberry muffins.  Each serving was in small portions but it definitely adds up.  During our breakfast, Mary and the other staff (sorry I didn't get her name) were both very attentive and kind.

What I liked most about Bath Street Inn is the overall house layout and atmosphere that makes it easier for guests to socialize with other guests if they want to.

For first timers to the B&B scene, this was a wonderful introduction to B&B living.  We had a lovely, one night stay here.

Their hospitality was warm and inviting.  The charm and comfort of this 1890's home, the professionalism of the staff, and the new acquaintances made during the afternoon tea while eating fresh baked cakes and cookies, and later the wine and cheese social, everything was completely memorable.  This should not be missed when you visit.

Next morning's breakfast was delicious.  The menu included the best of the best homemade granola served with yogurt, fresh OJ,  melon cup, special gourmet coffee, hot out of the oven banana nut muffins, and a light fluffy slice of spinach cheese frittata. And there were still leftover baked goodies from the night before, if you felt indulgent.

My only discomfort was my room, the Abigail room.  Roomy and decorated adorably but facing the street, the room got some street noise, the King sized bed was a bit too firm for my preferences, and the bathroom shower and toilet area was cramped with little room to set your personal items.  I would not choose this room for my return visit because of that.  Thankfully, they have 11 other rooms to choose from, so this was definitely not a deal breaker.

Just a tip:  Even though we were here for just one night, Santa Barbara always has some kind of fiesta or fun event going on, particularly on the weekends.  There are museums to see, places to bike/hike/drive, beaches, and quaint one-of a kind businesses to patronize.  I suggest checking the city's website for things to do while you visit Santa Barbara.  And we, being cost conscious,  were able to double our time in the area by getting an affordable motel that got us near, but not in, Santa Barbara for the first night so we could have more time in SB.

Meanwhile, thank you Deborah for making our stay a near perfect experience and one we will love to repeat.  Deborah was a wealth of information of current goings-on in the area, and guided us to good eats in town.  And I appreciated watching her gently manage everyone as they arrived with the same warmth she had given us.

One of the best BnB's that I've been to.

I love how they always have something to nibble on in the parlor.  Although we didn't have a chance to take advantage of it, they had a nice assortment of VHS tapes in their video library.

We reserved the Garden room which comes with it's own parking spot right next to it.  My husband found a great Groupon for a $99 rate.  We found out that they usually charge $200-ish  which is high, but normal for SB.

State St. (the strip) is walkable, but wear comfy shoes and sunscreen.

Breakfast was good and filling.  They served granola, watermelon, OJ, coffee/tea, and peach french toast souffle.  Service was superb and friendly.

    Will most certainly return!

My boyfriend and I had a really relaxing time staying here. The owners are very nice and really try to be flexible to meet your needs.

The best part of our stay was definitely the food. Lemonade and hot water for making tea/hot chocolate as well as cookies and cakes are put out at 4pm and are available to you all throughout the night (even if you want them at 3am) until breakfast the next morning. Not all of the desserts were excellent but everything was pretty good and it was really great to be able to grab them late at night. There's also wine and cheese + crackers available between 5:30pm and 6:30pm every day.

The owners went out of their way to prepare vegetarian entrees for us for breakfast and they were really delicious. For breakfast, you always get granola, yogurt, OJ, and one type of fruit. They then also serve an entree that varies daily - we had french toast one day and biscuits with cheese another.

Our room was small and not too special compared to other B&Bs I've stayed at although it did have nice decorations. We had a big jacuzzi in our room (the garden room) that could easily fit two people. The jacuzzi functioned as a double jacuzzi/shower however the spray from the shower-head was weak although the jacuzzi jets were strong. It was weird having it in the middle of the room and not in a separate bathroom but it was fun to watch TV from the jacuzzi. One thing to note is that the TV was really small. The owners have a movie library with maybe around 100 movies so we borrowed two while we were there.

It is a bit of a walk (maybe between 10 and 15 minutes) to make it to the electric trolley that shuttles between the ocean and downtown but very doable. The owners also have a bunch of menus from restaurants in Santa Barbara that you can browse through to help you pick a place to eat. The owners were also really helpful with explaining how to get around and telling us about Santa Barbara site-seeing spots.

Overall, a great stay if a little expensive (now I wish I had found that groupon beforehand!).

This place is great! very charming, clean, and people are friendly. The rooms are differently themed, each with a different vintage wallpaper..i felt like i was at my grandmas house, but in a good way!!!

In the morning they make a special breakfast and bring it out to you, everything is freshly made and the pastries are great!

    I would go back again!

This is a quaint little B+B in a quiet residential street. The innkeeper, Marti was very friendly and welcoming. Losing track of time on our drive down to SB, we were not going to make it there before 7pm when check in was over. I called the inn to let them know we would arrive later, and Marti picked up and gave very thorough instructions. We got to meet Marti when we arrived, since she was staying late to finish up some things. The rooms are very small, the windows are old. I think this would be unbearably hot during the peak of summertime. The walls are really thin, so you can hear all the voices and footsteps in the hallway or the room above. It really felt like we were spending a weekend at grandma's house and we had to keep our voices down in the room so our neighbors in the next room doesn't hear us doing the naughty :P But all this is pretty typical of a B+B, and you take it for what it is, its part of the charm.
Additional pluses to Bath Street Inn was the breakfast in the morning. Every morning it was well prepared, 3 courses, and juice or coffee. You don't have to sit with everyone else if you feel antisocial, you can sit in the living room or out in the patio and enjoy your breakfast in peace. They also set out some really great cookies and pastries in the afternoon. There is always hot water in the carafe so you can make yourself a nice cup of tea in the evening. We keep missing the wine and cheese when we were there, but I am sure it would've been equally spectacular. I liked the fact that the innkeepers are not intrusive or overly friendly. They know if you want your privacy and will back off, but still stay very friendly, helpful and available. Finally, the last pointer that can be a plus or a minus was the location. It is a bit far from State Street, a long walk. Its great because you don't get all the noise, but not so great if you want to walk to dinner or grab a coffee.
The parking lot is small. the car spaces are very small, and on both nights that we were there, some patrons decided to take up two parking spaces with one car. Luckily, street parking is not a problem here, but still would be nice to know that my car was on the property instead.

The breakfasts were healthy and delicious. The rooms were small, but very cozy and relaxing. The only reason for not putting 5 stars is that the bed had a huge foam pad on top of the mattress that made the bed super soft. It felt nice, but I have back issues and prefer a harder matress. We probably could have removed it if it was too big of a problem. I would easily come here again for a nice romantic relaxing getaway.

The Bath Street Inn was our B&B of choice in Santa Barbara after doing a combination of Yelp research and pricing inquiries. As we wanted to go on a wine tour, we were poking around on what offered the best rates for a package, and we landed at about $470-something for 2 nights and 2 tickets for a wine tour. This seemed reasonable so we booked with the extremely friendly house manager.

We were pleasantly surprised by the room - it was large (but the bathroom was not - which is fine) and had a decent amount of Natural light. Moreover, it was quiet even though it was facing the street (note, it is not right off the main drag in SB, rather on a side street). There was free parking in the back. One thing to note, it is definitely a walk to get to the main part of the drag in SB, and even more of a walk to get to the beach. The bf and I don't mind as we love to walk, but just a caveat to those who don't.

Now the awesome stuff. There is wine and cheese out every evening at 5 or so - awesome. There's dessert and coffee (with flavored creamers yayyyy!!) when you get back at night - awesome. There is AMAZING breakfast - here I was introduced to the Strata, which is now one of my favorite things to make - here, they did a Mexican strata with fresh green chilis - awesome. There's a gorgeous patio out back which catches the morning sun - awesome for eating breakfast outside and getting some Vitamin D in the process. Yes, most of my awesome things have to do with food/drink, but that is the make or break factor with B&Bs is it not?

I will highly recommend the Bath Street in to friends who plan to visit SB, and will be back if I find myself back here! PS. They take Visa/MC.

I'm almost embarrassed to have to review the Bath Street Inn.  After all, we've been coming to this quaint Santa Barbara bed and breakfast since the early 90's.  "Better late than never" must have been coined by a procrastinator.  Nevertheless here we are!

Like a few hundred thousand other visitors to this town, Santa Barbara offers us a quick escape for the day or the weekend.  When we find the time to come for more than a few hours, there really is no debating where to stay, as The Bath Street Inn, with their friendly innkeepers Marie and Deborah, is as inviting and charming as the town itself.

I struggle to find the right adjective to describe the inn.  The word "charming" keeps coming to mind, but there really is no better word to describe this place.  Unlike a lot of B&Bs that have a corporate feel to it, the Bath Street Inn embodies the true meaning of bed and breakfast.  When the innkeepers greet you in the morning and when you check in, when they serve you breakfast, when they remember your name...that means a lot.  The rooms are very comfortable and clean, the location is 2 easy blocks from State Street, there is no distracting traffic noise, and the breakfasts are incredibly satisfying and delicious.

What else is there to say other than it's not a place to stay, but a place to decompress and to remember what it was like before we ever heard the name Hilton.

I booked this place based on positive reviews right here on Yelp. Overall, I was very happy with the experience. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Wisteria room for two nights mid-week and got a decent deal.

Positives: Comfy bed, walking distance to State Street restaurants, friendly and helpful staff, delicious afternoon snacks, pretty flowers and pleasant scenery in patio area, wi-fi connection in room.

Things to be improved: Mediocre breakfast, weak jacuzzi jets, and the water temperature in the shower fluctuated between icy and scalding.

We chose this place based on the online reviews, having a king bed, and the price. We stayed in the Partridge Room. The bed was a bit creaky but we slept soundly all night. The standalone tub+shower with encircling curtain felt like being a cocoon, with the afternoon light shimmering in the window.

My favorite part of this place was the breakfast. Yogurt, granola, poached pear with sauce, fresh watermelon cubes, carrot pancakes, homemade muffins that don't weigh you down. Even though I had read about great breakfast places in SB, I never wanted to miss breakfast here.

The afternoon tea and subsequent wine and cheese hour made it more homey, even though the wine and cheese weren't that great. The home made cakes were fabulous, especially the apple based one, not too sweet, very  moist. Dinner was in danger.

I disagree that it's within walking distance of downtown State Street, unless you think a 3 mile round trip is comfortable walking distance for dinner.

My wife thought the decor was a bit shabby and too victorian for her taste, and it's location next to a run-of-the-mill apartment building was unfortunate,  But these things would not deter her from returning.  The comfort, price, and food outweighed those things.

My girlfriend and I loved everything about our stay at the Bath Street Inn. From the wall of circa 1996 VHS movies, to the crank-open windows above our bed. I am 6'3" and was told the balcony room was not for people over 6'0" tall so I was kind of worried, but other than a small shower with a slanted roof I had absolutely no problem "fitting" in this room.

Marti opened the door for us when we arrived and treated us like family from minute one. The homemade breakfasts were a fantastic way to start our day. We hit the road this morning but before we left we were blessed with apricot french toast, yogurt with granola, and freshly cut watermelon. If you have other friends staying in town somewhere else (we were in SB for a wedding) I highly recommend you invite them. Again, Marti's service was great.

We were looking at staying at hotels/motels initially and we are so lucky we didn't. The entire we weekend kept asking ourselves "why don't more people stay at bed and breakfasts?" I will be back in Santa Barbara at some point in my life, and I can't wait to come back to the Bath Street Inn.

The only thing that might bother some people is the small sink in the bathroom and the fact that the bathroom doors are awkward to close. This is a great place to stay with a significant other, not if you are looking for a place to party before hitting up state street.

I have stayed at Bath Street Inn on two separate occasions and each time I have been extremely impressed. The house is very charming and the rooms are lovely . The food is always wonderful and there is plenty of it - with breakfast, afternoon tea, wine and cheese and snacks at the ready all day and night.

The inn keepers, Marie and Deborah and the staff Kate and Marti are charming hostesses and are always happy to answer guests' questions. When I commented on how much I liked their French toast breakfast they printed out a copy of the recipe for me.

For my future visits to Santa Barbara I will not hesitate for a moment to make my reservation at the Bath Street Inn.

Bed and Breakfast. My first thoughts were of someone bringing breakfast to me, served on a cute wooden, white rimmed tray while dressed in my striped PJ's in an overly sized, floral trimmed comforter covered bed. My first perceptions of this form of lodging were quite misconstrued indeed. At least I hit two of the major points of this concept of lodging. BED and BREAKFAST!!!! woohooo.

A great place to take your significant other or loved one too. I decided to have my first experience with my mama in celebration of a super belated birthday present and Mother's Day gift. (shame on me, but better late than never is what I say to alleviate any form of guilt).

It was a success-- jackpot even! She loveeeeed it! Situated in the lovely suburban streets of Santa Barbara where the beach is within your pedestrian reach, this city was the perfect getaway from the bustling, smoggy streets of LA.

So what is the whole DL????

    BREAKFAST:

A bed and breakfast is basically a big house with many rooms (at Bath Street, there was approximately 12 I believe if my cranium membranes serve me correct). Each morning, the house keepers serve a full, homemade, delicious, AMAZING breakfast from 8-9:30. I remember awaking to a pleasant smell of morning and breakfast as the aromas from the kitchen seeped into the very crevices of our doors. We were first served a baked apple with walnuts, cinnamon and some kind of liquid reduction that wasn't too sweet or too soggy. Perfect combination of flavors to create what I would call.... the crust less unsliced apple pie! Ok, worst name ever, but I would call it that if I had ownership of the recipe. Next, we were served Bath Street Inn's very own home made granola, accompanied w/ plain yogurt. Forget Kashi's or Bear Naked's granola... this stuff is amazing! I swear they must've sprinkled a dash of cocaine while I wasn't looking.

NOW ON TO THE MAIN COURSE.. or should I say course + my fave, carbs! The main star of the morning was difficult to discern. Tied between the ever so fluffy Eggs Florentine, topped with a dollop of sour cream and their home made banana nut muffins., I was too torn and floating in breakfast heaven to make a final decision. Both were winners since when can there only be one winner in any category/profession/aristry?!!! So yes. I loved the breakfast as you can see.

ok ok ok . That isn't just it. The Inn serves wine and cheese in the late evening! I wasn't able to enjoy sippy hour as I never made it back in time; however, the thought of free wine and cheese will surely make anyone crack a smile. Even Mr. Old Scrooge here.

My favorite parts of the trip had to be after dinner. You see.... the Inn sets out an assortment of goodies from baked cookies, chocolate frosted cake, lemon iced cake, and apple baked crumb cake each night in their living room. They must've knew I was coming... because man. Was I all over it. Thank goodness most of the residents didn't stay out past 9 as they would've probably had a heart attack if they witnessed the cookie monster in action. So, each night, my mom and I had tea and dessert after dinner. Such a relaxing and nice thing to do after a long day's worth of walking and sight seeing.

    BED:

Now on to the sleeping accommodations. Although I wanted to book the Tiffany Room originally as it was the cutest of them all in my opinion, I was too slow in making reservations and settled for the Summer Room. The rooms here are each themed according to a certain look/feel and are all quite comfy and serene-like. Granted that they are not as big nor new as Vegas hotel rooms, please don't expect too much beyond what a typical household room would be like. It was comfortable and I was able to get my beauty rest so everything was dandy on my part in regards to this.

I'm not sure if I'll be going to another Bed and Breakfast anytime soon since my mom is quite sick of me after our 3 day rendezvous. Perhaps another trip will be called for if another occasion arises.

Man. Actually, I just might go back by myself if no one wants to go. Thinking about how delicious those banana nut muffins were are driving me crazy.... .

Had a fantastic weekend in Santa Barbara and a huge part of it was because of the warm hospitality and coziness of the Bath Street Inn. The Mexican Estrada for breakfast is DELICIOUS!! This place is freaking amazing. I came here with my partner in crime for a birthday weekend. I booked the partridge room which included a back entrance. This place is a victorian style house. It is three stories and it also has a back house which is two stories. We stayed in the front house. The decor of the room is very homey and comfy.
Breakfast is served from 8-9:30am in the dinning room or their backyard patio. It's almost as if you're dining in a restaurant but inside a home. Once you find a spot and sit down someone will greet you and give you a plate setting. The food is homemade and nothing can ever beat homemade cooking. Around 4pm its tea time. They put cookies, cakes, tea and coffee in the dining room area for you to snack on. Around 6pm its wine and cheese time. I tasted the jalepeno cheese and it was good. Usually during breakfast is where you can meet other visitors. Everyone was nice and friendly. The snacks is actually available all night in the dining room. That's my favorite part, I can't miss out on homemade cake. It taste so good every night I had a small bite before bed.
My favorite is Deborah's homemade muffin. It was to die for. She really knows how to baked. It was the talk of the morning Deborah's banana nut muffin.
This is my first time at a bed and breakfast and it was simiilar to staying at hotel with the liesure of coming in and out whenever you felt like it, but the experience of great food and staying in a home-like room makes you want to come here over and over again.
    Check out their website: http://Bathstreetinn.com
Oh yea one thing to note while you're looking at the room selections. All the names of the rooms matches the type of wallpaper you're going to see.
If you have never tried a Bed and Breakfast place before, I highly recommend this place as your first experience.

I adore Santa Barbara, so last year for a mini-vacation I went up to SB for a couple days of rest and relaxation. I found the Bath Street Inn online and it sounded very quaint, close to State St. with all of its shopping and food places, and laidback. The ladies in charge are very warm and friendly, helpful, hospitable, and make great breakfasts and mid-afternoon treats. My room was a lovely Victorian-style, old-fashioned one, it even had free wifi. It was a short walk to State St. on a peaceful residential street. If you need to escape LA for a bit, I highly recommend SB and Bath Street Inn.

The only place to stay in Santa Barbara.  Deborah and Marie do a phenomenal job in making your stay wonderful.  Breakfasts come with fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade granola and a main dish.  You'll be full all day!  In the evening, come back, relax by the fire or on their beautiful back deck with a piece of yummy cake and pile thru their menus to decide where to go for dinner.  Better yet, ask an inn keeper, they know all the local joints.  If you want to relax, feel pampered and have nothing but great memories, book now.

It's a fun, quirky kind of place, but my wife and I loved it.  We stayed here for a couple of nights for our first anniversary and it was really nice.  Our room was a bit tight, and the bathroom was really tiny, but it had a lot of charm and character.  The best feature of our room was our balcony.  It was nice to sit, relax, and watch the sunset in peace.  Breakfast was great, staff was welcoming and friendly...and we look forward to coming back sometime!

The best thing is the breakfast.  They have hand-made granola (trust me, it's good) with a couple of dollops of yogurt.  A little fruit.  Then they make something special.  The first morning was some healthy pancakes with pear syrup.  The second was some "mexican" frittata.  It is worth staying there just for the breakfast, and then finding something to do for 23 hours waiting for the next one.  Being in Santa Barbara, that isn't too hard.

They were very nice and everything was clean as can be.  You're right by downtown and the 25 cent bus that goes all the way to the wharf is  a nice 6 block walk.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. It's a few blocks from State Street but on the end away from the beach.  We walked EVERYWHERE, and it was great though exhausting.  The B&B is very cute.  We stayed in Susan's Loft, which was nice except the bathtub/shower was a little iffy.  Think bathtub with a handheld shower head put into the side of the sloped roof.  Other than that, it was great.  The staff was helpful and very low key.  Lots of goodies available to eat all day, including a nice breakfast with granloa, fresh fruit and something warm (french toast, spanish omelet etc).  Later in the afternoon there was cheese and wine and lots of homemade cakes and biscuits that were available to eat all night long.  In fact, we were kind of fooded out.  I thought the value was good for what we got, and I appreciated being on the top floor so we barely noticed the other guests other than at breakfast.

My husband and I are looking forward to returning to this lovely B&B next week.  We stayed there last year and had a wonderful experience in Susan's Loft, which we reserved again this year.  It is very private, on the upper floor of the back building (separate from the main house), and very romantic without being too frou-frou.  The slightly odd arrangement of having the tub in the room is more than made up for by the fact that it sports the greatest set of spa jets I have ever encountered---I even went so far as to try to buy one like it for my home!!
Breakfast is served in a very pretty wisteria-covered courtyard which sits between the two buildings, and it was delicious, with the perfect balance of baked goods and lighter fare, plenty of fresh fruit, great coffee, and a very friendly ambience that encourages meeting other guests and chatting between tables. .
Service is wonderful here, from the reservation process to table service at breakfast.
Though it's a good way from the beach, so perhaps not the PERFECT location, the Inn sits on a relatively quiet street, with plenty of parking, and is a perfect stopover on a trip from Los Angeles to Monterey.  We'll be back again many times I'm sure!

This place was absolutely lovely! The ladies who run the inn are sweet, thoughtful, and excellent cooks. The teatime cookies are delicious, and the location is wonderful-- walking distance to the Santa Barbara Mission and to State Street. It really felt like hanging out in my grandmother's house, and I left feeling relaxed and full of warm fuzzy.
