Besides its plentiful picnic facilities, Bartley sports two different one-mile walking or running trails, that are packed dirt, which is a lot easier on the joints than is pavement.

This is a highly organized park that lacks places to play Frisbee because every area is designated for a particular use.

If you want to hear Cowboy poetry and see it performed live outside of Elko, come here on Aug 21st and 22nd, 2009, when there will be a performance in the outdoor amphitheater, tickets are $25.

In addition, there's an indoor theater where one of my book club members has attended a ballet performance.

Erin is almost, but not quite right about the bees. Bees are attracted by sweet things. What is attracted to the meats and fats in the picnic you may have here are yellow jackets. It's quite annoying, but I believe there are ways to lessen the problem with some advance preparations.

Restroom facilities are fantastic and conveniently located. The place is nearly deserted!

There are a few equestrian rings. Some are dirt and some are grass. It would be interesting to watch a rider putting a horse through it's paces here.

There's also a very large eating area that can seat at least 150 people and is covered by a large pitched tin roof. My table was not covered, but was partially shaded by a large tree. It was very close to  the parking lot, and that was convenient for finding the other members of my book club, but the metal benches gave me a deep waffle print on the derriere, so next time I will bring a cushion.

Bartley Ranch is a great place to go for a picnic or a hike on a well maintained trail, but not such a wonderful place to have a wedding reception.  Or maybe the wedding reception was so bad that it soured my taste for the park.

But the rangers were super nice when I lost something there.  They were really helpful.

The park is beautiful.  I wish I had more of an excuse to go out there, but with Rancho so close to my house, if I am going to go to a park, I go there.

Bartley Ranch has super good footing in the riding arena. I haul over 3 or more times a week. I practice barrels and ride my youngster. The people that use the facility are the best. I have not met anyone that rides there who isn't nice and polite. We share a great facility and a common love for our horses and The Bartley Ranch. The riding trails are breathtaking. A must do bring a picnic ride the trails enjoy the arenas. Hope to see you there!

Did you know that bee's really like meat?  I didn't until I attended a picnic at Bartley Ranch and they tried to devour our sandwiches.  I'm so scared of bees, which is why I give them 4 stars.

Bartley Ranch is a nice little park in the Lakeside area of Reno.  There are lots of trees and plants.  It is a beautiful atmosphere.  There is an amphitheatre and even an equestrian center.  There are also a lot of benches, and a walking track.  It makes for a nice place to have a good lunch.
