Those who have taken a Barry's class know that you're signing up for a tough workout. I've enjoyed being part of the Barry's community and meeting all of the different instructors in classes. The studio is very clean and organized, and usually has fun giveaways from time to time which is such a nice treat.
I also love the events they host for certain classes like a meditation class, emo night, stretching, or a happy hour post workout.
Stephen and Crystal are my fav instructors - they are high energy and motivating!
I opted for the class pack as I try to take one class a week to supplement my other workouts. If you're committed to Barry's as your main workout for the week, the membership may be a better option. Don't forget to check out their first timer promotion for a discounted class pack!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Lidia G.San Diego, CA64111Apr 9, 2024
Can't believe I am just writing a review, moved from LA to SD a year and a half ago, and my first thing to search was where is my nearest Barry's! Honestly has not disappoint, from my first class with Brooke, to trying every single instructor here, I can't say this enough, but each one of them push you in so many different ways, and I love it! Thank you to all the following that I've taken a class with you guys are seriously amazing; Vince, Stephen, Brooke, Matt, Maya, Crystal, Dan, and Angel seriously you guys rock!

I was asked to leave the gym due to a spinal issue. The staff did not like me: I have been going to the original Barry's since Barry opened his first studio in West Hollywood. They embarrass me on multiple occasions asking me to leave the studio because have a back problem Do not waste your money. Then I get a call from Corporate in NYC saying I cannot go due to freaking vertebrae issues, it is what helps my back.
Staff is lazy and just sit and gossip. Sorry I work on my MacBook and you ask me to leave again cause you want to leave work. I take two classes here. A day, well use to.
I like a work\gym atmosphere. You failed here.&Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 5193431111Sep 17, 2023
What a fun first time at Barrys! For a three day trial over the span of 2 weeks, you pay 49 dollars. This was the only option I had to try out the gym because I had friends in town and they are frequent goers! I've always passed by the studio but never been in. To my surprise, it was smaller than I expected, but they made do with what they had. I was welcomed by a bunch of high energy folks, which is nice and the bathrooms are well kept. Bathrooms being well kept is always a must for a high class gym, so kudos to Barrys! Now onto the workout, it was upper body and cardio. We were in a dark room with AC and fans to keep us cool. the dark lighting and red energy lighting was diffrent, but fun. They are currently having a sale on their merchandise and I will deifnitely be using the last few passes left to hopefully get the full Barry's experience! See ya soon Barrys Fam!

Great place to Workout! I have been here for about 3 classes and each time I leave feeling great!
The gym itself is clean and has some Barry's gear for sale in the lobby. The staff always greets me with a smile each time. The bathroom is nice and clean. They have showers available if you need. They provide all the necessary items for a shower soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion.
I enjoy the mix of cardio and strength. The coach gives your a suggestion of the what rate you got at bit of course your encouraged to do what beats fits you. I will continue to do my workouts here!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 31, 2022
I usually go to Barry's up in San Francisco and decided to give the San Diego studio a try. I took a class with Halle and I really enjoyed the class! Lots of EDM bangers to get me motivated while working out. Halle also took time to help fix my form while I was struggling so I appreciated that. I'd take Halle's class again.
The studio is on the smaller side and got stuffy pretty quickly. I couldn't stay for the stretching portion after class because I just felt so suffocated.
One thing to note is that this studio does not have a Fuel Bar - a bummer because I was looking forward to a shake!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Bruna M.San Diego, CA634477Oct 22, 2023

So I've lived in the building above Barry's for almost two years and was always sort of intimidated to try them out. I finally got over my fears and gave them a shot yesterday and actually came back for my second class today!
Front-desk staff and trainers are super high-energy and super nice. I booked my classes on ClassPass (about $17/class) but they've actually got a pretty good promo going for $85 for 6 classes (about $14/class, which is pretty good IMO). While they are on the pricier side, I enjoy the included amenities such as:
-Free gum
-Free earplugs (I attend EDM events and the music does get pretty loud, even for me; so I just ask for a treadmill away from the speakers)
-Free hair ties
-Towel service including small towels for the Red Room and bath towels in the restroom
-Shower
-Hair dryer, deodorant, wet bag for clothes
-Combination lockers both in the lobby and in the lockers
-use of their Theraguns (probably about 4 of them at the counter)
Great upbeat music, and not super crowded at the 9:40 and 10:50 classes. Lots of Barrys x Lululemon merch for purchase in the lobby.
Typical HIIT setup with treadmill and floor stations that correspond with each other, and workouts that aren't too hard to follow. Plenty of weights for everyone, and they provide suggested speed and incline ranges to help keep you on track during cardio. Sort of fun working out in a dimly lit, red ambient light room to EDM and Pop. Would def come back but most def be on the lookout for more promotional rates because I still need to eat . =pHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Isabella B.San Diego, CA143213579132Apr 23, 2023
I'm not and never will be a "gym-bro" that spends all my free time at the gym. Since time is precious and I want to do more with my workouts than just cardio, Barry's is a good compromise that fulfills both my cardio and strength training goals.
Located in the Hillcrest HUB, it share space with a few boutique workout studios, a few restaurants and most notably a Ralph's and Trader Joe's. I actually take advantage of this quite a bit and have done my grocery shopping coming straight from a workout session. Parking's a precious commodity around here and I rather would spend my time wisely.
The trainers here are *awesome* and are essentially the reason why I go. I have a few at the moment:
- Matty and Angel for Saturday's "Full Body - Upper Workout". They're the sweetest people and also try to teach proper form
- Stephen for M/W upper-body specific classes. I also love his enthusiasm.
- Brooke also teaches proper form and is super informative.
- Vince is the hardest of the trainers for T-Th ("Lower Body" and "Abs/Ass" aka leg and booty day). I do love his classes because those are the body parts I want to improve the most!
I go here 3x/week with the specific classes based on work schedule but now that my OTs have declined a bit I can commit to a specific schedule. I love how the group struggles with you yet the instructors are so encouraging! I always feel like I had a great workout afterwards. I've only been doing this a month and yet I feel happier all the time and my self-confidence in my body has improved, even though I'm not at my ideal weight just yet.
The only downside is the cost... NGL Barry's is *pricey*. 12-class membership is around $220/monthly. But my defense is that time is money and I would just get lost at the gym if I were to go to those big box gym places.Helpful 11Thanks 1Love this 8Oh no 0
