Ranked as one of the best golf courses in California. Barona Golf Club has been placed among Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Torrey Pines. Luckily it is reasonably priced compared to the aforementioned courses. So is it good? Yes it is.

It starts off with a reasonably long Par 5 to get your scores off on a good note. The fairway are usually in good conditions. There seems to be a mixture of Kikuyu and Rye grass on the fairways and sometimes, especially in summer, it grows weird. But, it is so much better than what you see at most muni's.

The greens at Barona are huge, thus that's why people say putting here is so difficult. If you're putting from 50 feet away, then usually yo're going to three putt.

There are environmental sensitive areas here. So if you spray your tee shots, you will searching through wild grasses and reeds that are never cut and full of rattlesnakes. So pressure is on to keep your drives straight.

Other than that, is that there is a constant wind blowing towards the casino. And they say that the putts fall towards the casino as well. A lot of beautiful holes that have great views of the valley where the casino resides.

Last, the 18th hole is a monster 484 Par 4 into a steady wind. It destroys most golfers great scores. But enjoy the course nonetheless, and keep all your shots on 18 on the right.

Wow. I went this last weekend (Mother's day weekend) and other than my group's 2 foursomes, we saw a single, and a pair the entire round that we let play through. It felt like a private course and it was awesome! Very difficult course - lots of sand traps everywhere, as well as water and wild grass, etc. out of bounds on either side of every fairway, fast greens. I lost a lot of golf balls ;) This course was definitely worth the money and I would definitely play there again. The only weird thing was the rules - 2 beer max per 3 holes, and only on the front nine. This golf club / resort is the dryest one I've seen.
