Barney's Beanery is unlike any restaurant I've been to.  The menu is soooo extensive that the breakfast items along is 2.5 pages.  I ordered the chorizo and eggs and it comes with warm tortillas.  It completely hit the spot and almost wish I ordered a beer to compliment the meal.  My coffee with sugar and cream ended up being fine and just the right amount of caffeine to perk me up.

Enjoyed my meal, company, outdoor seating and guitarist playing songs that made me nostalgic whilst we ate.  The only thing that struck me as weird was because it was a bar as well, the servers were so scantly clad at 11:00am.  Strange, but hey, I guess they need to get those tips.

I would have to agree with a few others, the atmosphere is good but the food was a little below that.

I had the Roast Beef Dip, added some cheese, which was served up hot and fresh. The Onion Rings were good, and the beer selection sufficed. The only thing that was a slight turn off was the 10,000 monitors around me while on the bottom floor. I felt like I was under a tanning lamp, and on info overload. I guess it's a sports bar, but overly sporty.

The menu has a huge variety of things to select from, which is a good plus.

I went to Barney's on Sunday and I'm nervous to admit it, here in public, that I've come out of it in some form of partial vegetative state. My brain no longer works correctly, it's hard to read and write, in fact this first few sentences took me 8 hours to cook up. Bear with me ok, it was a rough Sunday.

I love watching football more than a fat kid loves cake. Actually, I love watching football more than a fat kid loves cake covered in ice cream with additional chunks of mashed up cake sprinkled on top.

This passion of mine and Barney's teamed up to completely blow my mind with NFL goodness which, as I mentioned earlier, has completely fried my brain.

The TVs.... They're everywhere. EVERYWHERE. Big ones and small ones, projected on the wall, stacked above each other, side by side... Jesus, each of the booths in the lower area have their OWN TV.

Everywhere I looked: football. Head to the bathroom: 15 TVs with football. Look above the bar, football, football, football. I CAN'T TAKE IT.   The insane laughing and screaming I heard every 15 seconds leads me to believe I was not the only one completely giddy with access to this much NFL at one time.

Oh yea, this is a bar/restaurant so I suppose I'll comment. The food was OK, huge ass menu, standard bar grub, just a lot of it. Pretty sweet list of build your own potato skins ingredients, the guac/mushroom/jalapeño/broccoli skins I whipped up were quite fine.

Beer was pricey as a mufucka, I'm talking $10.50 for a Chimay, but I didn't really care. Honestly, I could have eaten wood chips and drank stagnant pond water and been happy as can be surrounded in the football glow.

Next time I'm round these parts on a Sunday I swear to god I'm going to sit here for 12 hours straight and just veg out and watch football. If you see me there please do not judge, just politely wipe the drool off my face, refill my sippie cup with beer, and let me get back to watching the game.

In actuality a 3.5, 4 for the atmosphere and 3 for the food.

So on Halloween I watched the USC game and then went on my way. Came here to watch and stayed the whole game and ordered a buncha drinks and some food.

I really like this place as a sports bar, was seated at a booth, servers were really nice and efficient, and perfect place to watch the game. I also heard that there's a shuffleboard table too. I didn't get to play but I would come back for that actually. This place is much bigger on the inside than I had thought it would be. Several floors, and lotsa lotsa different types of seating. So you can chill near the bar, or sit at a booth, or sit outside in the patio.

The menu is hugeeeee....it took me a while just to look through it. And I was only going to order an appetizer too, but I just felt compelled to go on. Eventually we ordered the breaded veggies appetizer platter and the mama's nachos. There were both in pretty large portions, but weren't very spectacular. The veggies came with sweet potato fries (soggy), zucchini sticks (good but too much bready), mushrooms (yum), and onion rings (way too fried, kinda hard). Nachos, well I felt like they could've given us more chips so we didn't end up just eating whatever was left with forks.

So I'll probably come back here just to try out more things on their menu and to watch another game. I don't like to write off a place for their food after only trying a few things.

I am diffidently a fan of any restaurant that serves vegetarian food. Being a vegetarian means you generally end up eating an appetizer as a meal (or a soup or salad) at a family restaurant. You don't really ever get a good choice for food on the menu. But at Barney's Beanery you defiantly get your own selection. They have a very large menu, that has vegetarian items such as veggie chili, veggie burgers, big salads, mac and cheese, tons of breakfast items. Just a lot of good food to choose from that's meat free.

I am always in the mood to try a new veggie burger. I love to try the different combination that  restaurants come up with for a meat substitute. At Barney's the substitute was kind of a bean/corn/veggie patty and it was pretty good. They offer tons of options to add to your burger, i settled with cheese and onions. It was a nice filling burger with a pretty good taste.
My lovey got the chili and hot dog bread bowl and he ate the whole thing. That must have meant it was good ;)
We also got an appetizer of fried pickles, and they were so good! That's the second time I've ever had them and they were better then i remembered.

After we finished our food we realized it was taking longer then usual to get our bill. the waitress was really good though and explained the computers were down and it'll only take a few more minutes. When we did get our bill she didn't charge us for drinks because we had to wait about 20 minutes. Which i thought was nice. So i give her my card and she leaves and comes back about 5 minutes later saying she didn't charge us and we can just leave. Apparently the computers crashed AGAIN and she didn't want to make us wait any longer. I didn't want to wait any longer either! And i thought she was a really great waitress for keeping us informed on what was taking so long. We tipped her and left with a free meal! Woopie!

It doesn't get much better then that.
If I'm ever in the area again ill stop by Barney's again and actually pay for a meal! There were so many things on the menu how can i not return to try something new!

I really wanted to give this one three stars based on the service but with a menu that would take you - best guess - two years to eat everything on it, I'm giving it four.

Yeah, the service is everything you would think an LA (Santa Monica) tourist trap restaurant would offer.... No real smiles. Empty water glasses that need refillin'. Order, get food, get check, good bye!

The food on the other hand is pretty good. If you want breakfast, they have everything from eggs to pancakes. If you want lunch they have burgers to cold and hot sandwiches. Bonus points for having something like 12 different kinds of potato skins on the menu. Enjoy!

Met up with a friend here for lunch on a Tuesday noon.  The weather was fantastic, and it was great to get a seat outdoors but out of the sun.  There was a lot of movement and music being played on the promenade.  I picked this restaurant because I knew the food and drink selections were huge from having been to their Pasadena location.  This location has a more relaxed feel and belonged close to the beach . The tables and walls and bathrooms are plastered with pics of famous pop and TV icons from the past. The clientele was a mix of business casual people and tourists.  Overall, it speaks FUN.

One thing you notice is that all of the waitresses are young and attractive.  Thankfully our waitress Zanaida was also friendly, knew the menu, and overall an attentive and efficient server. They have a large collection of beers on tap.  But I was driving my company car and won't drink during the day, so I had the iced tea.  For food, I ordered their awesome $6.99 special - a half sandwhich (I choose chicken salad on wheat) and chicken noodle soup.  The soup was warm, with large bits of chicken, flat noodles, zuchinni, chopped celery and carrots in a rich chicken broth.  The sandwich was really good, with chicken pieces in a sweetened mayo dressing on soft wheat bread stuffed with a tomato slice and romaine.  It was a very good combination.

My friend had the corned beef on rye ($11.00) which I sampled.  It was served with sauerkraut and thousand island on the side.  You could have your choice of side, but it was Spanish rice this time which was a litle dry but good nonetheless.

If you want a quiet or romantic place, this ain't for you. It got a little noisy when the place filled up, the blues singer outside singing "At Last" and other standards, and the Barneys muzak played original classic pop from the 70's.  All in all, it was a lively, good lunch. There is also a pool table which no one was using and a full bar. There are large screen TV's inside, and is reported to be even livelier when there are pro football games, MLB playoffs, the Lakers, and UCLA or USC games.

I've been here so many times I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it yet.  I keep coming back because:
* it's a convenient location with free parking (2 hours before 5 pm, or meters after 6 pm)
* great for meeting groups or an informal/casual meeting
* an air hockey table (boo there is only one)
* outdoor seating and almost always a performance
* huge beer list including cider with great happy hour (4 pm to 7 pm)
* a big menu with large portions
* lots of TVs for watching sports
Any negatives? You come for the visual entertainment, casual conversation and beer; don't come for the food or service.

I was looking for a place to have some good beer and some appetizer while enjoying the nice view of Third Street Promenade. After walking in the street Barney's seemed like the best option, and I'm really happy with it.

We got a very nice table outside where we could watch the movement in Third Street. We ordered a degustation of European beers for $10.50 (5 6oz shots I think), with very nice brands (White Chimay, Paulaner, Hoegarden, etc.). The European beer degustation was great, I highly recommend.

Later on we decided to try the degustation of Californian beer, for $8.50. Well, I would recommend never downgrading from european brands to local ones. :)

Besides that the waiter (Chris) was really helpful and the atmosphere was really nice.

I came here a few days ago with a friend while we were waiting for our showing of Harry Potter at a nearby theater, and we were both very pleased with the experience.  The wait was only about 20 min for our party of 2, and the nice thing is that they take your phone number so you are free to roam the promenade while waiting for your table.  No sitting around staring at the wall/people eating already.

We were seated in plain view of the plethora of TVs in the bar area, so we could catch up on our sports stats while eating.  We ordered food right away and were served shortly after.  We split the cheese fries for an appetizer, and man were they good--they use my favorite seasoned fries and smother them with melted cheese.... mmmm...  My friend enjoyed her half turkey sandwich and french onion soup (globs of cheese), and I had no complaints with my chili bread bowl.  I could be wrong, but I could have sworn the menu said it came with a side salad, and when I asked the waitress she said it didn't but brought one anyway.  She was quick with my friend's coke refills, although not so much with my iced tea (didn't want one anyway).

The atmosphere is pretty fun too.  If the conversation lags, you can always examine the collage of celebrity pictures on the tables and walls to get ideas.  Also plenty to look at in the restroom stalls.  All in all, it's a cool place to get good food for the money.

I came here quite a while ago, and just honestly forgot to write a review.  No longer I say!

I came with my teammates who I had just played with at Lei Out, a beach Ultimate Frisbee tournament (amazing tourney btw).  We got seated pretty quickly considering the NFL Conference Championships were on, and we had like 10 people.

The menu is colossal and I honestly don't remember all the stuff we ordered.  I got the pizza burger, but we had fries, onion rings, chicken sandwiches, wings, on and on.  All sorts of good ol' American bar food.  And it was all pretty good!  Service was initially a little slow, but that's because it was so busy methinks.

I actually didn't get the pepperoni on my pizza burger, and the waitress kindly took it back and quickly brought back a new one with pepperoni!

Seems like a hella popular local place.  I'll try to make a return trip next time I'm here for Lei Out!

Very interesting channel selections on t.v.!

I've gone to the Barney's in Pasadena and Burbank; this Barney's is my least favorite. My friends and I sat outside to get some fresh air. The service is really slow and the interior is small, crowded and stuffy. It was a struggle to get to the bathroom because the place is loud and the people were really tall (everyone was like 6ft and higher!?!), it was hard to get their attention so I awkwardly shimmied my way through.

We ordered the Irish Nachos to go w/ our drinks. It was pretty good. All the sides that came w/ it are the same, the only difference was the potatoes were chunkier. I noticed that every Barney's has their own style in potatoes, it's never the same.

I don't know if it's by accident or some kind of a practical joke but they were playing an infomercial on tv advertising sex toys, no joke! Even the waitress was joking w/ us about how this is suppose to a family restaurant. It took about 20 minutes before someone changed the channel. Very amusing indeed!

I was with a colleague who wanted to join a group of us for dinner BUT also wanted to see Monday Night Football.  Barney's Beanery could not have been a better location.  Relaxed yet professional service, excellent and very comprehensive menu, and we were SURROUNDED by TV screens - his team even won!  Really like this place and will definitely be back.  Good prices, great service, happy atmosphere, noise level just right.

went to 3rd street promenade during the night time. This place is pretty nice and relaxing. Found our way to barneys beanery. The outside patio is pretty relaxing. They have some heaters above you so it's not so cold. I would sit outside because you can hear the street performers.

The inside, honestly looks really crowded and I wasn't really feeling all the decorations. I felt really claustrophobic a tad bit.

Anyways service is pretty good, it was kinda slow but it was pretty busy so understandable. I would come here to drink again, they have a really large selection of beers. I will try their food next time! Nachos were pretty good.

I went for Happy Hour on Thursday evening.  Got there about 6:20, right before it started filling up.  We ordered draft beers and two items off the HH menu: Irish nachos and chicken fingers.  Select appetizers are 50% off and end up being around $4.15.

The chicken fingers are more than "fingers" -- three good sized pieces of white meat chicken.  It comes with a tub of honey mustard sauce which was a bit too sweet for me.

The Irish nachos sound a little weird but they're pretty good.  They're exactly what they sound like: nachos with potatoes instead of tortilla chips.  You can get them with either beans or chili and we chose chili.  I think if I go again I'd opt for the beans.  All the toppings are on the side in tubs so if you don't want the salsa or sour cream you don't have to scrape it off.

Just be aware that the happy hour drink prices on beer are only for the beers on tap.

The service wasn't bad.  Our server was a bit abrupt but all in all I think she was better than the average for this type of place.

I would probably only go for happy hour again and would try to get there a little earlier (happy hour begins at 4 and goes until 7, M-F).

I noticed they also have other deals during various nights... I think Tuesday night is pool night, free pool and deals on beer.  They also have a beer of the month, a selected draft beer for $3.75.  I think the current selection is Alaskan Summer Ale.

I'm a fan of the hokey, so over-decorated themed restaurants are amusing to me.  I wanted a relaxing bar/restaurant where I could sit and eat with friends with a good view of the angel-dodger game, and this was perfect!

The menu is humongous and everyone got exactly what they wanted.  Great alcohol options too.  It isn't the most upscale of restaurants, but it is what it is and I enjoyed myself.  The food and service were both good.  Definitely a great place for a group.

It seemed like a 4-star place to me, but there really isn't much else we could have asked for...

a turkey burger at barney's saved my life this past st. patrick's day.  i literally stumbled in here after drinking for nine hours straight from 2pm-11pm with only five french fries the whole day to sustain me.  how i was still alive and somewhat coherent both alarms and delights me.

anyway, i have no idea why there are complaints about this place.  you have a) booze, b) a super-extensive menu that is available until like midnight, c) lots of comfy booths for you and your friends, and d) dozens of sports games on at any given moment.  who doesn't like booze and sports?  even communists like booze and sports!  barney's should be what every other sports bar aspires to be.

wear: something you wouldn't mind spilling ketchup or a beer on.

park: lots around the promenade are $3 after 6pm.  be careful with parking meters.

Wooow. I went here last night to meet up with my boyfriend Robby and some of his coworkers. This place is so fun and realllly big!! I couldn't even find everyone when I first got there. I finally found them though sitting outside on the patio. The patio is soooo cute, but it was kind of cold, and they didn't have enough heaters for all the tables. I felt bad for making everyone move inside, but the host did apologize and was really nice (and cute!!!)

My bf and I shared the potato skins. Yummm. He wanted his own, but the dishes are pretty big and should definitely be split.

Afterwards, Robby and I played a game of pool. I'm terrible, but he always lets me win. Take a lesson guys!! Robby is actually really good. He looks so cute when he's playing. I love to just watch him calculating his next move.

I would definitely come here again.

Dude, do you smell that?  Yeah man.  It smells like puke.

My conversation upon entering Barney's Beanery.  And it continued throughout the time I was there.  Bad place to watch a 3 1/2 hour football game.

Yeah, so they have a variety of bar foods on the menu.  Which are completely inedible.  And they have a good selection of beers.  Which clearly come back out all over the bar, because the whole place smells like someone sprinkler-head vomited all over the joint.

If you're a college student and you're looking for reasonable prices and a place that will take your 8th and Alverado fake id, this is probably a good joint for you.  For the rest of us, steer clear.  This place sucks.  The food sucks.  The smell sucks.  Everything sucks.  Except for the waitresses... they're fine.  Really fine.

Having experienced far better chorizo at Odyssey World Cafe in Paso Robles, I cannot settle for Barney's subpar dish made of subpar ingredients. Cheeses that smack of mass-produced Kraft quality do not settle well with delicate stomachs and refined tastes. Definitely a run-of-the-mill establishment good for the masses, Barney's is one location to steer clear.

I don't give a lot of bad reviews, but after last night this place deserves it.  The bartenders don't know much about the beers.   The nachos were awful.  The cheese wasn't even properly melted.  When I shared my feedback with the bartender, he walked away abruptly.  The manager came over and defended the awful nachos, but finally agreed the cheese was not properly melted.  He volunteered, "I won't make you pay for the nachos if you don't like them".  Then he never came back with my money.

Like many restaurants on the Promenade, this place just does not try very hard.

The bar's  theme harks back  to its history as a pit stop for thirsty motorists on Route 66. The design is fun but contrived, following the old TGIFriday's formula of throwing anything and everything kitschy against the walls....

I moved to Santa Monica the same month Barney's opened up.  Within three months I had learned the fine art of shuffleboard as well as the best seats in the house for games.  I think I've opened and closed this place many times over the years.  This is my go-to bar because there's just so much to do.

I take off one star because the crowd can get brutal on Fri/Sat nights and service slows down.  Otherwise, it's probably the best place in the Promenade to catch a game or a drink after work (and of course, shuffleboard).

Awesome bar/restaurant to chill with your buddies and eat comfort food. Well, if you love sports that is. Flat screens galore projecting every ESPN channel known to man.

I came here with a LA yelper who will remain anonymous,  is a big time Sox fan.  He was happy he got to watch his game in Hi-Def while eating our gigantic cheese smothered burritos. With all sports going on around us, I don't think he even noticed me. Haha! JK! I had a great time.

The menu is seriously crazy, lack of options is no issue here. We started with the shroom appetizer, which was pretty tasty.  I couldn't make up my mind, it was between a salad or a burrito. I'm on "vacay" so I opted for the veggie burrito smothered in cheesy goodness. The guacamole was spicy, which adds a nice kick to my taste buds.

Overall, I thought it was OK. It's a great place to watch sports, drink up, eat, and be merry. I don't watch sports and I certainly don't drink, so - 2 stars for that. But I did eat and I was absolutely merry :).

i thought the place was cool when i got there.  interesting decor, l really like the car seats as bar seats.  so two stars for that.  drinks were good too and not too overpriced.  then......THEN....i got a little hungry and ordered something from their crazy big menu.  i went simple and classic bar food- potato skins w/ cheese and bacon.  $8.95 i believe.  what came out.....ONE potato cut in half.  yep, two halves.  $8.95.  are you kidding me?!  i pulled the waitress aside and asked her what's up?  why am i paying so much for a baked potato?  she said these are more than the baked potatoes....about $7 more.....because they have to go through a process to make.  humm, split the potato in half, take some of the middle OUT, add some cheese and bacon and stick under the salamander.  wow.
so never again.

Decided to head here for happy hour and to check out the NBA playoffs recently.  Been here a bunch of times so I knew what to expect: a huge menu of bar food, breakfast food, sandwiches, burgers, fried, grilled, chili, whatever.  When the menu is on an 8 page newspaper, it's pretty extensive.  We settled on a buncha happy hour appetizers but the one that seemed to stand out were the chicken fingers.  Nice and crispy and not dry or too doughy.  Just the right amount of crisp.  Also, Barney's has a pretty extensive selection of international beers.  It's also one of the few places that serve Xingu black beer from Brazil.
I've always dug the tables made up of a montage of random pics of random celebrities, movie scenes, models, comic strips and pretty much anything interesting and visually catchy.

Dinner with the boyfriend on our one-year anniversary mini-vacation weekend was here..

We were actually seated right away.. and we were told that we JUST missed the big wait list due to the Laker game that was on..

The place was pretty loud and busy.. tv's everywhere playing everything from a baseball game.. to a rodeo.. to Wheel of Fortune!

Their menu had so many items on it.. it took us awhile to really decide what we wanted..

Boyfriend had pastrami dip.. I had a philly-style baked potato..

His food looked good.. he practically inhaled it.. that's usually a good sign..

My baked potato seemed a little over-baked as the potato part was really dry.. I had to dip it into the boyfriend's au jus in order to moisten it up.. it was tasty though..

Seems like somewhere to go back to.. it's like one of those places where you feel like you have to try everything on the menu..

So if we ever find ourselves back at the Promenade.. I wouldn't mind going back..

As a visitor of southern California, it was only a good idea to ask a friend who was a native, where exactly we should eat. "Barney's Beanery" he suggested. And so it was, we went to this place called "Barney's Beanery."

Sitting down, it was a lot to take in. The line of T.V.'s along the whole wall against the bar, license plates atop the ceilings, old school vinyl records covering the wall closest to ours, and our table we sat at that was cluttered with photographs of people of the more famous nature. This place was crazy! And how about that menu? It was huge! Being a picky kind of eater, it was easy to say if I couldn't find something on the menu they had provided me than I have problems!! It was quite overwhelming but eventually I just tried to relax, pick something and eat!

The environment was fun, the beautiful day made it even more enjoyable. The place was packed but they were still able to provide pretty decent service. If I visited again, I would probably come here!

It's a toss up for me where exactly to rate this place... a 2 or a 3? It's not great, it's not bad. I also feel like granting it a 2 rating would be a little bit premature since I've only been twice, and only eaten once.

Hits:
Cute girls on staff who dress up for Super Bowl Sunday in skirts barely bigger than a hand towel
HUGE menu (bring everyone and you're bound to find something for them all)
Friendly staff
Quick service
Good fries
Reports of good veggie/regular burger
Patio seating

Misses:
Where are the cute men?
Caters to a male crowd
HUGE menu (studies have shown that people feel unsatisfied when given too many options. I'm not kidding, real studies)
Too much tacky crap all over the place
Flying balls.  If you're sitting on the level directly under the pool table it can be annoying when people don't know how to play well.
TV's EVERYWHERE, which 95% are playing sports.
Music borders on too loud for dinner time.

OK:
Cesar salad. Not great, not bad.
Breaded zucchini. Not bad, not great. The breading was a bit like the breading for cheese sticks and I prefer mine to be a little lighter.

I'd go again probably.  When I'm not looking for the best meal in the best atmosphere.

Came by last night (Sunday) just after experiencing a 4.7 earthquake while naked in my bathroom (checked off my to do list).  I swear, I saw a homeless, early-mid 40's Seth Myers trying to hit on this 20-something year old girl.  I knew this would be a good night.

Let's just say that any place with $3 draft beers during Sunday night happy hour is right on in my book.  Throw in ridiculously comfy chairs with comfy headrests at the bar (I could probably fall asleep if I had consumed more Guinness) a pretty extensive food menu, plus three super huge TVs lined up next to each other (I want that in my living room)  and I'm completely sold.

Shots here are not for the faint of heart - rather than serving in a typical shot glass it's more like a small drinking glass.  I had to take three gulps just to down my tequila.  All I can say is Jesus H Christ - I'm having my next birthday here.  And I will definitely be back for chili, omelets, guitar hero, and drunken karaoke (Wednesdays at 10 pm!  Who's with me?), oh you can bet on that!

Located on 3rd street Promenade so the parking structures are no more than a wobbly walk down 2nd or 4th st.

its what BJ's strives for as far as beer and menu, while Barney's strives to be your favorite hole-in-the-wall bar if it took up a space formerly occupied by WalMart and offered a menu bigger then Jimmy Dean's...

3 stars for the scenery, vibe and beer selection...  and fried pickle chips.  2 stars everything else

I used to live down the street from the original location in West Hollywood.  Now I live just around the corner from this one.  The 3rd Street location faithfully reproduces the environment, sans the Joplin & Hendrix stories.  TVs everywhere, good beer selection.  Great place to catch a game, or something like march madness.

The menu seems pretty large, but you'll quickly figure out that's because they enumerate the various permutations of each entree.  E.g., at any spot, you can, of course, get a burger with just lettuce & no cheese.  Barney's just lists 'em all out.

Food here isn't great, but it's decent.  They tend to be stronger at things involving frying (e.g., fries & onion rings).  Things like chicken tend to be a bit dry.  The kobe burger isn't done justice.  The breakfast options aren't bad though.

This place is great. If you have just a friend, a group of friends, or just yourself. It always has the game on, whatever game you are trying to watch, and it's a great sports bar feeling. They always have some good beer, try the Barney's Brew. They have the longest menu I have ever seen, like 30 versions of potato skins, so a bit daunting, but not bad food once ordered.

There's an upstairs with "activities" arcade, pool, shuffleboard, air hockey, etc. It's just a fun atmosphere close to the beach for a warm evening on the promenade.

I was meeting up a friend for lunch here and based on a few recommendations, I thought I would try this place out.  Hungry as I was at the time, I went for the first thing that Barney's is known for-- it's Chili.  I ordered it with all the fixings-- sour cream, salsa, and cheese. As soon as I spooned the first bite into my mouth, I knew I was already disappointed.  It just didn't taste good!  Thinking that I could make it taste better by adding a dollop of sour cream, some salsa and huge sprinkling of cheese, I kept eating hoping it would get better.  It didn't.  The really sad thing is that the Chili I've eaten at the Stanford Hospital Cafeteria is so much better.

What I will say is that the service is excellent here-- the wait staff made sure to keep my water filled (it was a hot day) and made sure to ask if I needed anything else.  Another thing I will add is that I loved the decor of the place-- with all the hanging license plates and surrounding TV's.  I think this would be a great sports bar to go to if you wanna just hang out and have a drink.

This is one of my favorite places around Third Street Promenade to hang out with friends and catch a sports game (or three) while having some food.  It's just a great atmosphere and crazy decor.  (I prefer this place over Yankee Doodles or Hooters)

What's great about this place is all the flat screen HD TVs all over the place.  If someone ranked all the sports bars in the area by the number of TVs, I'd think this place would win by a long shot.  And I'm not talking about a bunch of cheap and old CRTs.  They have a bunch of fairly new flat screens hanging all over the place with HDTV signals.  Excellent for watching a bunch of games on multiple screens all at the same time.

What's not so great is the quality/taste of the food can be hit or miss.  The menu is so huge it's printed like a newspaper and includes breakfast foods like omelettes and waffles.  But there are menu items that seem like they could be so much better.  Spicy wings need to be a lot spicier.  Pizza was tasty, but a bit on the soggy side.  The horseradish that comes with the corned beef is bring-tears-to-your-eyes strong.  Prices are a little high, but hey...someone's gotta pay for all those TVs you're watching.

Happy hour is from 4PM-7PM and it includes 50% off a few appetizers such as wings, nachos, etc.  So say you have a 7:30PM game you want to see.  If you can get there before 7PM and order, you can save a bunch on the bill.  Assuming you are just getting mostly appetizers and some drinks.

When I asked for a nearby TV to be changed to the game I wanted to watch, it was promptly changed.  Service seemed prompt to me.  No complaints here.

Good for hanging out with friends and catching all your favorite sports games.

I probably would have given this place one star had it not been for the fact that I went here right after having been at Yankee Doo Doo's. It was a whole star better in comparison. That would be because of two things 1) the fact that our asses had seats at an actual table and 2) they have like 300 (I didn't count but it seemed somewhere close to) different kinds of beer-which of course included all of my favorites.

Oh, and the Denver Nuggetts sent out their most douchetastically freakin' highlarious fans to entertain us!!!! These jockey-sized loudmouths were trying to start shit with Laker fans twice their size. EFFING AWESOME!!! If Barney's could guarantee a scene like this every time I went I might give them 3 stars! But since I'll be trying my hardest not to go back there anytime soon, that's not likely to happen...

Why?

1. the STANK- seriously this place fucking reeks! I can't stand things that smell bad, and smelly people. but I know this smell was not coming from people, unless there were wet homeless people hiding in corners invisible to my eyes? anythings possible here I guess. but yeah, the best way I can describe the stench is a mixture of bathroom odors and moldy wet dishrag. not pleasant, to say the least.

2. the FOOD- if you can even call it that. I had a chili cheese sour cream burger with a side of "mac n' cheese". It was nastiest, oiliest almost inedible waste of calories I have put in my mouth in a long time. The "mac n'cheese" was the worst I've ever had IN MY LIFE. I can say that with confidence, im not exaggerating one bit this time. Kraft mac is 100 times better, and I grew up on it I should know. It was like they took some precooked noodles, threw a stick of butter on top, and then dumped some cheese on and melted that over the top. The burger came with all the ingredients separate on the plate, so I just had to put everything on myself. Some people are fans of getting everything "on the side", I am not one of those people. I thought that the chili would be at least decent being that I was at a "beanery". It was below sloppy joe grade, in fact I like sloppy joe's much better this was more like finely ground dog food. And grease squirted out of the burger into my mouth as I bit into it. They should be thankful I was so starving I would've eaten just about anything.

3. the service- it wasn't that bad, and I understand that they were busy, but there are certain things that stand out. like having no utensils or napkins when the food comes to your table, and having one plate at a time bussed from your table when there are like six empty plates sitting there. and nobody ever remembers, but im sick of the lemon I ask for with my water being forgotten! I've come to the conclusion that no one cares about you if you're just drinking water...

4. the prices- ok, they're not horrendous, but they're wayyyy more than they should be considering they should be begging people to eat their food. My "meal" was so not worth the $16 with tip.

If you absolutely must come here I suggest coming an hour or two before the game and NOT ORDERING ANY FOOD.
