9 reviews for Barnes & Noble
I just returned from the B&N. Josh in the music department is the perfect example of how to provide excellent customer service. I am listening to my new cd as I am writing this review.
Josh was friendly as he he answered all of my questions with effeciency and a good sense of product knowledge. He was quick but he was more concerned a customer satisfaction vs. a quick sale. In addition to my 10% card discount, josh extended the use of a coupon he had available. I saved 35% total. On my previous visits, I was denied the additional savings if I did not have the hard coupon copy on hand. In addition to extending the additional coupon, Josh asked if I would like him to open my cd to listen to immediately. I was about to ask him to do so because I hate the extra packaging that is a struggle to open with purchase of cd, dvds, and electronics. Great experience!
Really the best book store in the area.
Cool little Starbucks inside, great selection, and the help desk in the center of the store has the most helpful people in the world. The magazine rack is huge and from the looks of it they have a great place for kids to get books.
The lay-out of the store is really what gives it 5 stars.
Can't find a particular book? They'll order it... I love this place.
This review if for shopping via http://barnesandnoble.com
If you are unfamiliar with the site, be prepared for some learning on navigation or be sure you have some semblance of what you are looking for before logging on. They managed to fit more than a full size store onto their website...and if you are Windows shopping (boo hhaha) it can be a tad overwhelming to navigate through.
There are a few reasons I regularly use this site.
1. Used copies from partnered bookstores. You know how many copies the retailer has, the condition of the book (which i have found to be quite accurate), find books barnes and noble doesnt carry anymore, and get amazing deals.
I once sent a book as a gift, and put a little note in the order to please inscribe the book....and they did! The sweet little bookstore in texas did it for me...on a book that only cost$2!
2. I once had the need to send books via the Louisiana prison system. Dear lord what a nightmare that is and I'm the one on the outside! gaah. It must come from the shipper, addressed to the recipient, with the weird ass address that no other site would accept except, guess who? barnes and noble. not only did they 'get' the address, it was all delivered on time!
3. You can listen to clips of music to decide on CD purchases. I like that, esp when I was looking for a very specific song sung from a very specific boys choir performance as a gift. I had thought I found it, but having that clip solidified I was right.
4. Sales. When they go clearance, they do it right.
5. They've recently added 'reviews' features. You can give feedback on the partnered bookstores and they are giving you reviews of books and products, etc. A plus when you log on not knowing what you're looking for, or need a 2nd opinion on the newest book.
I love BN. I really love this BN.
It's my local one, and it always has what I need, especially during the embarrassing times I go at midnight to purchase my special edition Harry Potter books.
They are always willing to look up and order books if I can't find them, and they are always so super pleasant. They'll preorder for you, and they ALWAYS call if you're expecting something to come in. This is primo service. I love it!
I come here to study...
Well.. more like to hang out with friends and try to get at least one homework completed. It's so distracting here but I keep coming back.
1) There's so many magazines!!! Who wants to read textbooks when you can catch up on your People, Times, and Martha?!
2) BOOKS! You can't help but pick up 89541237 books on the way back from the restroom to your desk.
3) Snacks from Starbucks. Yumm.. they have cheesecakes, sandwiches, and cookies. Anything to fulfilled your sweet tooth.
Oh.. good luck to finding a table during finals week
I can't help it - I frickin' love this McDonald's of booksellers. Yes, I know there are those of you that despise the B&N, but you cannot deny that they revolutionized how books are sold. Instead of "Hey, are you gonna buy that?", you are warmly greeted and the clerks there (at the risk of not knowing what else to call them) are incredibly knowledgeable.
I've been to a few of these, but this location is my favorite. There's an entire back section for kids, and my son LOVES playing on the Thomas the Train table. I take him there so much that he has been asking to go to "Parnes & Nople" since he was 2! I digress. As usual.
There's an embedded Starbucks with a large seating area - WiFi provided by TMobile (yay). The magazine WALL is impressive, and conveniently has benches along it so that you can browse to your heart's conent. The store is intelligently laid out, sectioned off by the typical book topics. I'm impressed with the philosophy and self-help sections...it's much larger than what I've seen in other bookstores. (no I'm not a psych major - I'm a basket case and need lots of help!)
My only criticism is that the lines can get long for checkout, and their answer to this is to regularly contort the checkout line and move the entrance, blocking off any points of interception with moving book shelves.
Plus, for you single types, I've *heard* that bookstores are the new place to meet other singles. So get out of that frozen food aisle - you can enrich your brain AND mix with other smart individuals!
Barnes & Noble = easiest gift-shopping ever. You can get a book on...well...anything, or a journal, or writing/art supplies, or Starbucks, or a gift card nestled in a Godiva chocolate box...really, this is a no-brainer to me.
I love that they have comfy chairs (they make me want to read entire series while nestled in them, but I know better), yummy drinks, a big magazine section, a separate kids section (that way they're not running and yelling all over me), and valued employees that seem like they actually *want* to help me.
"Really? You want to order that book for me? And you'll walk the quarter mile to the other end of the store to find that other book for me? And you won't make me feel like an asshole if I was wrong and that's not really the book I want? And then I can sit in this big comfy chair, reading said book, without you or any other employee giving me dirty looks? Oh...well, cool. All right then."
This place is my stomping grounds. It's where I study during the weekdays or when I can't go to OUGL or Suzzallo at UW. It does get loud in the cafe, but the secret spot is across from it. It's where you can zone out with your headphones or listen to the jazz music.
i've had dates here. sexy, huh?
it's true- and till this day, i can safely say that my first date here with one of my long term (ex) beau's... is definitely one of the best memories of Barnes and Noble. aww.
spacious and comfy, the staff is very knowledgeable and there's a Starbucks/reading area. however, i like how you can enter the Starbucks cafe in a separate entrance... in case you're hiding from people or you just need a frapp to go! there's lots of couches and chairs throughout the store- for you and your date to get cozy and cute sippin' on coffee and reciting corny love poems to each other. fun, huh?
out of all the locations (besides downtown)... this has to be my favorite, too. i think it's the seating (benches, couches, love seats, cafe, etc.) that makes me love this place so much. the fact that no one bothers you to buy anything or looks at you weird for carrying stacks and stacks of books and stay there for 5 hours... is awesome to me. =)
