eewh! yuck and wtf!?

This Barnes & Noble Book Store sucks for sitting back, relaxing and trying to read. I know it is not a library, and I don't expect it to be. But, come on - you can at least have some sense of trying to keep the noise level down and have some cozy seating.

And... Yikes! The people here are gross. They had some couch-chairs to lounge in and they were - in all of their grossness. And they were reading magazines of all things. WTF buy it and go home and let your kids do kart wheels there. EEWH!

Then, those of us who actually purchased books and were trying to peacefully read them were in the cafe' - sitting on their dirty wooden benches - where I guess the servers there think that part of theirs jobs in serving coffee is to do a drum solo every time they empty the used coffee grinds into the trash can - which was about every 5 minutes. Yeesh! Luckily, I had my iPod. It was blasting and I still could hear them banging away. It was not a very cleanly area either.

I was going to ask if they had wifi but I just high-tailed it out of there instead. This place is small too and their book selection is limited.

I have been looking for a place to go to read, work and drink some coffee in my area (Arrowhead) and this one is definitely crossed off of my list.

Come here to try and find a book but don't come expecting to kick back and enjoy your novel or what have you. If you like people watching though, this may be your place. There are all kinds here.

PS: and I left my fav coffee mug at this crappy place - like I will go back and get it. I think I would burn it first - bummer!

B&N used to be my favorite place, but this specific location is some what disappointing. Once you walk in, it's kind of depressing. No pleasant welcoming staff, sparse decor, just overall not impressive. Much more lively at the Borders across the street. A highlight is that a Starbucks is inside, although they do not accept Starbucks gift cards. And they do have a sort of nice childrens area with a train table. But the floors are disguisting, HUGE dust bunnies everywhere; not cute. My daughter was looking at the board books, and of course some of them were on the ground, as with all kids. A sales associate asked that she not touch the books and for them not to touch the ground. SERIOUSLY?! I can understand because some parents don't pick up after their kids, but I always do. I just didn't like the associates snide attitude and unrealistic expectations for the "kids area". Anyway, the B&N at Desert Ridge is better. Just my opinion.

I am not a huge Barnes & Noble guy, you most likely aren't going to catch me sipping on a latte, reading James Joyce and talking on my blue tooth. Nothing wrong with it, just not my thing. I am more of a pounding beer, reading playboy (looking at), not answering my old school nokia kinda guy. Which brings me to my point, I have been looking all over the valley for the Artie Lange book, too fat to fish. I could not find this Memoir anywhere. Eventually I caved and left the wall mart and went to Barnes & Noble, not only did they have the book, but they had it for 30% off, score! I was so excited I even caved and got a large black coffee from Starbucks (yes I said large not venti). The experience was a pleasant unexpected surprise. I may even revisit this joint next time I am shopping around for a chronicle of a drug addict who loves booze and lovely females.
