4 reviews for Barnacle Bill's Seafood Restaurant
ok this totally made my night after a friggin horrible experience missing my flight...
came here at 9:30pm... kitchen still open til 10ish during the summer!
oyster specials 5 for a dozen?!?! versus 10 bucks for a dozen... OMG SOLD!
- ok so the oysters aren't as plump as the ones along apalachicola bay but who cares when its 5 bucks... it wasn't sandy still, tasted very fresh!
also ordered a skillet... the rice tasted so moist and full of gumbo like flavor i wanted to eat it all for myself...
totally scarfed down this food in a matter of 30 minutes!!
such a casual place... outdoor beach like seating with view of highway.
sit indoors if u want the bar
no frills locals joint!!!
The atmosphere: a mix of hospital lighting and seating that looks like it was stolen from an Arby's in 1981 and faithfully preserved, a giant fish tank
The clientele: families, "colorful" characters, women in stone washed jeans, dudes with nicknames like "Slappy"
The food: freakin' fantastic enough to make up for all of the above
Eat outside.
This is a big place, by oyster bar standards, and they offer a pretty extensive menu of mostly seafood items.
Be sure to check out the website for more info on nightly specials, entertainment, etc..
For me, oysters are the star here, especially the raw ones.
Have a seat at the bar, and your own personal shucker will crack open a bucket of the best gulf coast oysters you'll find anywhere in Florida.
Order them raw or steamed, he'll probably shuck 'em faster than you can eat them.
Full bar, a good beer selection and friendly people, both the staff and all the other oyster suckers at the bar, make this a must visit place for me whenever I'm in Tallahassee.
Its hard to believe that I've been enjoying this joint for nearly 30 years.
For out of towners, its easy to find; its north of downtown, near the Tallahassee Mall.
Live entertainment sometimes, and always a heaping helping of local hospitality.
I can not recommend anything here but the oysters because that it all I have ever had. But, if you are an oyster fan belly up to the bar and have the server shuck them right in front of you and grab a cold beer and you will be in oyster heaven.
