My fiancee and I are overprotective doggie parents, and we're generally uncomfortable leaving our dog, Axl, with most people.
With that in mind, we absolutely love the folks at Bark After Dark and we completely trust them with Axl. I'll let you check their website for their boarding details and the features that make them more awesome than other boarding places. The point I'd like to stress is that boarding your dog at Bark After Dark is like leaving him/her with your closest and most loving family members -- who happen to know as much about dogs as the best trainers.
Our feelings about Bark After Dark are reinforced by Axl's attitude whenever we drop him off and pick him up. Usually, Axl has slight separation anxiety and will cry whenever we leave him. But when we take him to Bark After Dark, he's extremely excited, and goes off with Matt like he's a member of the family. Axl does't even give us a look back to let us know he'll miss us while we're gone! Then when we pick him up, he's happy, bathed, and ready to nap from all the fun and play. Matt likes to describe their boarding as "Summer camp for dogs," and that really is a perfect description.
We're very happy we found Matt and his crew, and we highly recommend them to anyone who loves their dog. -

My fiancé and I were attending a 3-day seminar in LA and we brought our pup with us. We chose Bark After Dark because of their flexibility, they would pick up our pup in the AM and we would pick him up in the evening so we can spend time with him.
On November 3rd they picked up our pup from the hotel and before 5pm on the first day we received a text message to call them on our break. We called immediately and found out our pup had been bitten. We raced to the hospital and the vet said he had several lacerations to his head, neck, back, and chest. We found out the owner, Matt, had left our 2-year old 10 lbs cavalier/poodle unattended in a room for 15 minutes with an 80 lbs dog. It is neglect to leave a defenseless small dog unattended with a big dog.
When we arrived at the hospital, the vet said Matt, the owner of the business, did not want X-Rays done because he assessed the pup's situation. I'm not sure how anyone can know a dog doesn't have a broken bone, that's what X-Rays are for. The vet suggested we should have X-Rays done and we agreed to have them done immediately. Our pup had surgery that night at the ER nearby. Most of the lacerations were to his neck, and the vet who performed surgery said it could have been fatal because the big dog just missed his jugular.
The surgery was successful, although our pup had 10 stitches and 3 tubes sticking out of his neck for drainage. We were unable to fly back home with him in that condition, so we took the rental car back to the bay area. In an unfortunate situation that could have been worse, we were glad our pup was going to recover in a few weeks. He means the world to us and he is our little baby, literally part of our family.
We were upset with the way Bark After Dark handled the situation by:
1- Neglecting our dog and leaving him unattended with an 80 lbs dog. Matt told us that this specific room would only have small dogs in it.
2- Text messaging us and telling us to "call on our break". It wasn't a "normal bite", the big dog was trying to kill our pup who wouldn't hurt a fly. He's completely non-aggressive and shy compared to most dogs.
3- They paid for our vet bills, but would not reimburse our cost for the rental car (taking a car from LA to SF is very expensive, we couldn't fly back), and other trip expenses.
4- We asked to see updated shots of the dog and to talk to the owners. They refused to show us the paperwork stated we couldn't communicate with the owners due to privacy reasons. Because of this, we're not sure he even told the owners of the attack.
This weekend trip to LA turned into a nightmare for us and could have been completely avoided, but we're very thankful our pup is ok. We've raised Kobe since he was 8 weeks old and through countless hours of puppy school and training, it's the emotional part of the attack that won't heal right away. We have to be very careful with him around dogs and slowly work with him to rehabilitate his social skills. Matt, the owner, did send us our pup's belongings after the surgery along with a gift card to Pet Co and paid our vet bills on time. From my first impression Matt was thoughtful and tried to accommodate us as best as possible. I wouldn't use Bark After Dog services because of how they handled the entire situation, it was very unsettling and one of the worst days of my life.

I seriously hate to be the first person on here to give a non-5-star review, but I feel really sad about my experience with Bark After Dark.
I was looking for a dog walker on Yelp, and came across a pristinely rated Bark After Dark -- 5-star reviews all the way down. I couldn't find a single sour review, which was so exciting to me. I love my dog so much and was so thrilled to have a dog walker who would take care of her while I work during the day.
I could not get service to save my life. I first contacted Bark After Dark about 3 weeks ago, and I still haven't started service with them (or even met them in person). I called, e-mailed, called again, left messages, and eventually got a response from them -- only it was just an e-mail that said to call them. When I did, I got a voicemail. I e-mailed to tell them I was upset, and still no response. It's been 4 days and I haven't received a response. I am the saddest.
I guess my grave review isn't for their service -- because I'm sure it's great -- but it's for the lack of professionalism, I guess. I would have much rather them tell me off the bat that they were too busy to take on new clients, so my poor dog would have had hope of daily walks from another business. I tried to hold out for Bark After Dark, but they may need to hire a secretary first. -

Matt, Sara and my walker, Mary, are such wonderful, kind people... I'm so grateful that the universe put me in their path.
After a traumatic FAIL by a prior dog walking service Matt returned my first call in less than 30 min, and was able to come by for an interview on very short notice. Then, we had a second meeting with him AND my future dog walker (Mary).
I feel very comfortable leaving them in charge of my dogs and my home when I'm not around. Shortly after starting with them I found myself working nights and I had to make use of the overnight house sitting, and that's how I met Sarah!
They zig to my zag, and are very understanding of my schedule changes, they even bring my food deliveries inside and put them in the fridge for me! They have helped me out of jam on several occasions, and like I said at the top, I'm very grateful to have found Bark After Dark.
I cannot recommend them enough. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. -

This business and the people who run are fantastic! The dog walking business is different from most, because you actually give a key to your home to these people, you really need to trust them.
We work mostly with Sarah and she is a delight! Our dog loves her and so do we. Whether I call her a week in advance or 3 hours, she and her team have always come through for us. They are genuinely caring, pleasant and punctual! They have been on time and always text or call when the walk is done and our dog is back home and safe.

I've had my puppy for 9 months and never had to leave him with anyone other than family when we went away. I was a bit of a neurotic mom about leaving him in the hands of strangers while my boyfriend and I went out of town. But Sarah, Carly and Matt completely put me at ease.
I submitted an inquiry through their website and got a call back quickly. Woohoo!
Then they offered to come to our house to meet Bear before his stay with them. Woohoo!
They picked Bear up the next morning for his stay so that I didn't have to add dropping him off to the list of things I had to do to leave town. Woohoo!
They sent me pics and updates through out the weekend so I knew Bear was safe and having fun. Woohoo!
When Matt brought Bear back to us after the weekend I handed him the money he had quoted me for before we left. He counted it and told me I owed less. He could have just pocketed the money and I never would have known. His honesty has made me a customer for life.
We will definitely use Bark After Dark again. -

Bark After Dark has been our go-to dog walkers for over a 18 months now, and we've probably used them about a dozen times.
Generally, we call on the same day we need dog walking, and they're always cheerful with us, and happily able to walk our dog. They're flexible and easy to work with.
The cost is on par with other dog walkers in Los Angeles that I've used in the past (before we started using Bark After Dark exclusively).
We would definitely recommend them to anyone! -

Just after we boarded a plane for an out-of-state trip on a holiday weekend, our dog escaped from our backyard. After some frantic Saturday night calls to a handful of dog boarding businesses, Matt was the only one to call me back. He was very concerned about our situation, and bent over backwards to make sure our dog was safe and healthy.
Matt took in our dog sight unseen, and didn't even charge us any extra fees for all the late-night phone calls and hassle. He texted me photos of my dog during our trip, and was very easy to communicate with (email, calls, texts, etc). He was a lifesaver for our dog, and I honestly don't know what we would have done without him and his service.
I will recommend this company to everyone I know who has a dog, and I know we will be using Matt and his team in the future! -

I LOVE everyone that works here. After our long term dog walker moved away from LA, we bounced around with a few dog walking services until we found Bark After Dark.
All three owners came to my house and met my dogs at the introduction meeting. They take INCREDIBLY good care of my dogs and my cat, whether it be on walks or when they stay over.
They're just great - and totally affordable and completely flexible schedule wise. Great all around!!! -

I needed a dog walking service in a pinch. After reading so many positive reviews and checking out their website, I decided to give them a try. I contacted them via the form on their site. They contacted me the next day and set up a time for a visit. They came to my apartment - met my dog, got the keys, asked some questions, told me about their service a bit more, and to set up a schedule for the next week. One of the owners came (Sarah) along with the girl who would be walking my lil pooch (Lindsay).
Cookie has been so content since they started helping me out! It's hard as a dog owner to feel like you're able to live your life without constantly worrying about when you need to be home. It's nice to have someone dependable to take care of Cookie when I can't be here. I especially appreciate their flexibility with scheduling. They are great with communicating via text - so if I need to set up or cancel a walk last minute, it's no problem. I also love that they're a 24 hour service!!! Because they offer so much (transport to vet visits, walking, pet-sitting, boarding, doggie taxi, and even hikes in the park!) I feel confident that whatever my needs will be... Bark After Dark can meet them!

I worked with Sara when I had to leave town for Memorial Day weekend with my boyfriend. She was fantastic.
We had mixups at my building's front desk with the keys, but she hung in there and made sure my dog was well taken care of.

I am so relieved to have a found a place to take my dog when I leave town! My dog tends to have separation anxiety, but he loved it here! He got to "pal around" with other dogs, as Matt put it. My mind was at ease because Matt sent me texts and picture updates, so I was able to actually enjoy my vacation. He even gave him a bath, which I did not expect at all. And I thought I owed him more money, but he was honest with me and told me that I owed less! And the fact that they picked him up and dropped him off was super helpful. We put our 5 month old puppy up at Bark After Dark's "summer camp" over Labor Day weekend while we were off to New York.
Weeks before the trip, Sarah from the company came to our home to meet our puppy and make sure he wasn't agressive or sickly.
A little more communication would have been nice in terms of emails confirming hard dates and times. I tend to worry otherwise, but I completely understand the limits of owning and operating a small business so I'll give them a mulligan on that small detail.
Morning of our flight, Matt arrived at our home promptly at 7:30am to pick up the pup, which we appreciated as it freed us to worry about getting to the airport on time.
Matt was friendly and great with our dog. We felt comfortable leaving our beloved Brittany with the folks at Bark After Dark.
The boarding with Bark After Dark is unique in that the dogs spend the time at a fenced in home in the Valley, where they have run of the house.
During the day the dogs go to a dog park to burn off their energy.
Throughout the weekend Matt sent tons of photos and video of our puppy hanging out, playing around and just being a happy dog. Matt also called us the first day with an update and texted cute updates all along.
I loved hearing who my puppy made friends with and then looking at their pictures on Facebook!
Truly, A+ service from these folks. They are 100% obliging and will do anything to satisfy a customer. -

Matt Carly and Sarah are a good people. I could tell right away when they all came for my meet and greet with my dog, Ewok. He had so much fun playing with them that he was actually sad when they left!
Matt has been walking Ewok every day since, and even though this is only the first week, I am confident writing a recommendation.
Matt sends me a text when he comes over, and let's me know how Ewok is doing. This small service of texting totally puts my mind at ease that he's helping me take care of my pup! ~and he seems to genuinely like Ewok! :) -

I emailed Matt a couple weeks before my wife and I were leaving town and he got back to me immediately. He offered to come by and meet our 110 lb. Lab/German Sheppard baby but I wanted to see where he would be staying for the weekend. Matt gave me a tour of the house and made sure that Cal (our Dog) got along well with the rest of the pack while checking his records and making sure he was up to date on everything.
Matt is such a good guy and genuine as could be. My wife and I decided that this was the perfect place to leave our dog for the weekend and we were unbelievably right. Our dog is our child and we are always fearful when we leave him overnight with someone/someplace but Matt completely put our mind at ease with constant texts and updates as to how Cal was doing and he even included pictures! It was awesome to know that we had nothing to worry about while being out of town.
I honestly can't say enough great things about Bark after Dark. We will not be leaving our dog anywhere else when we leave town from now on. I highly recommend you check them out as all of the reviewers are 100% correct with the 5 star rating. This is the best place in LA hands down! -

These guys were extremely understanding, flexible and helpful. We met with one of their dog walkers, who was very nice and easy to work with, and set up their services for when my wife went into labor. They were so nice and flexible about everything, able to respond to e-mails literally within minutes as we scheduled and canceled walks as our schedule changed during the birth process. Having Bark After Dark be so pleasant and easy to work with made a stressful and harried few days easier since we knew our dog would be taken care of no matter what!

Matt, Carly, Sarah and the whole Bark After Dark crew are amazing people. They clearly love canines and it shows. It was easy to feel at ease with them right from the get-go. My dog was new to my family at the time and they were patient and kind with her instead of forcing themselves on her. I always get an email with an invoice, one asking what the week is going to be like, and the one before, after, or during each walk. Communication is key with me and they do this right. I appreciate Bark After Dark's flexibility and last-minute scheduling, and Matt, Carly, and Sarah are great with my dog -- I love that M & C host him in their home.
My dog and I are working on his separation anxiety and he can't be alone yet, which makes it difficult to leave the house in the evenings when doggy daycare isn't available.
One evening my boyfriend had to go to the ER, so I called Matt and asked if he could take care of my dog immediately -- which is no small request.
Matt met us at the hospital during rush hour and drove my dog to his house, and Carly drove him back to my apartment after I called and said I was home. They were even willing to keep him for the rest of the night if I couldn't make it home.

I rarely write a review...but Bark After Dark deserves every kind word and then some!!
I was desperate (and very last minute) for an overnight dog sitter for my little puppy Pickles....I emailed 4 different services and Sarah was the only one to immediately write me back! She is sweet, easy-going, caring, reliable and relaxed. She even emailed picture updates of Pickles' escapades throughout the afternoon!
I was very lucky to find Bark After Dark online...give them a call, they are worth every cent not only for how sweetly they handle your pet but for the peace of mind!

Matt, Carly and Sarah are awesome! They have been with us since we adopted our dog and have taught us so much. They are super dependable and really take care of the dogs. Bark after Dark is the best thing I found since I adopted my dog Che. They have been so extremely flexible and willing to help at a minutes notice. My schedule is all over the place so sometimes I need someone to take him for the whole day and they are always available to help. I always feel confident and comfortable knowing Che is with them. He is so excited every time he sees one of them and I know he gets lots of love, attention and exercise. I've been a client for almost a year and use them frequently. I'm extremely pleased and would recommend them to anyone with dogs.

These guys are exactly what a good dog walking company should be. They are honest, dependable, caring and a great value for the services they provide. I can not recommend any dog walking company higher.
I moved to LA over a year ago with my Jack Russell "Sirrus" and my small Poodle "Sasha" and was very nervous about entrusting their daily walks to people I had just met. After meeting with a few other companies, I then met with Sarah, Matt and Carly and they put my mind at ease. They asked good questions and seemed very sincere about the care of my little guys. Upon hiring them, I quickly noticed that they lived up to every promise that they had made. They showed up on time everyday, texted me while on walks every visit to let me know how they were doing and communicated very well as to how "productive" the walk was. Bark After Dark has also been a life saver when it comes to last minute late night walks and they have also done a great job house sitting and taking care of my dogs when I have to travel. They are very responsible, respectful and communicate well. I trust them completely and they deliver.
In short, don't think twice about hiring Matt, Sarah, Carly and Eve of Bark After Dark for help with your furry loved ones. They do an excellent job and are quickly becoming one of LA's best dog walking companies. -

These guys are great. I first started using them when I saw Sarah taking a few dogs on a looonnngg hike up in Griffith Park. I knew then that any dogs that got walked or hiked by them would get a real workout, which is what my energetic dogs need. Have used them ever since and Sarah even took one of our dogs to the vet for her shots one morning when I couldn't. Dogs are lucky to have Bark After Dark!

I text Sarah and sheepishly ask if she can do a last minute dog walk on the weekend. She has always replied, "No problem!" I've used Bark After Dark to board my dog when my husband and I go out of town. What I love about Bark After Dark is your dog actually gets to stay in someone's house, and be taken everywhere. She normally stays with an awesome lady named Carly. It's like doggie summer camp - she goes hiking, on walks, car rides and gets to play with other dogs. It's the best form of socialization and exercise your dog can get. Their services are amazing, too - they come to your house to pick up your dog and drop your dog off when you get home. Can't beat that! My dog has such a good time with Carly, I think she's a little disappointed when we return. I also like their late night dog walking services. If your evening plans go too long, just call Carly and she'll swing by your house at 10 pm to take your pooch for a walk. Love it!!

If you love your animal, then you should definitely call bark after dark. The team at bark after dark took care of my dog at the last minute - when I couldn't be there due to work obligations. They are professional, trustworthy and offer a personalized service in an impersonal world. I use them now even when I don't have to because my dog LOVES them so much. She has her own little group of dog friends and she has so much fun on her hikes that its something I want her to do, even when I am not working! I love Sarah, Matt & Carly - they are all amazing people and I'm proud to now call my friends. You cannot go wrong with them, they rock.

Bark after dark is an amazing! I moved here a year ago and never felt comfortable leaving my dog with anyone until I found them, Matt,Sarah and Carly take care of my dog like he's their own. I always get a text when they get there and leave letting me know how's he's doing. My dog is in love with them too! They are great with very last minute and always get back to me right away. Overall very loving, professional and amazing with dogs I feel so lucky that I found them!
