Barce is a great place for a group of 3 or more for delicious food in small amounts and lots of tasty sangria, caparihnas, and other cocktails.  It's packed and noisy on popular nights so not necessarily the most intimate setting, and tapas is fundamentally more fun with more people, because there are more dishes to go around.

The goat cheese, potatoes, pork tenderloin and charcuterie plates are all great - and the hummus dish is OUTSTANDING and not to be missed.

The service has always been friendly and the atmosphere is loud, but jovial.  Parking on the street (free after 8pm) or in the lot behind the restaurant (like a buck.)  It's hard to find - it's not on Farmington Ave. proper - it's behind Farmington Ave. in the shopping center.

At the end of our meal we counted all the items we ordered 17 for 4 people. All were fantastic. Our server timed everything perfectly bringing out 4 plates at a time & our table was frequently cleared to make room for our next round. Service was truly great and we kept our server's hands full.
I think my flight of 3 white wines was the best deal in ordering a drink. I received 3 substantial glasses of wine for $11.
My recommendation is to stay away from some of the red meats as they are fattier cuts and since you are getting smaller portions you can guarantee half of it is fat. I also recall the guys not liking the chunk lobster on top of the risotto. The lobster risotto was great but the lobster on top was overcooked.
Barcelona is certainly decorated interestingly and the patio is beautiful.
I will return and order the other half of the menu I didn't get to last night.

Went here with two others and got eight tapas to share. The menu was very traditional for tapas, which is okay, but don't expect anything beyond your standard Spanish fare.

- Chorizo and figs
- Chickpeas and spinach
- Hanger steak with green peppercorns
- Gambas al ajillo
- Codfish, also with garlic
- Goat cheese and wild mushrooms
- Grilled artichokes with (more) garlic
- Chicken empanada with avocado

All were nicely executed, but as you might expect, there was not a whole lot of variety. We also found the service to be pretty mediocre, though the setting was pretty nice, if a bit cramped: it was a little strange to have to walk directly in front of the live musician in order to exit.

Pro: Flamenco guitarist (Thursday night)
Con: Guitarist is inside. Patio is, well, outside.

Pro: Dinner for 3 (no drinks) = $60 (+tax/tip)
Con: "Tapas samplers" only available Sunday-Thurs

I've gotten spoiled on San Francisco cuisine, so going back to my New England roots, I'll round up my otherwise 3.5 stars.

The food was tasty and we left satisfied.
If they change up the menu (seasonally), I might be back. If it's the same deal, I wouldn't be as excited.

Barcelona offers a fun and tasty dining experience.

Your first challenge coming here is finding the place.  It fronts a hidden parking lot and there is no direct street access.  Adds to the charm!  I sat on the patio (which is now enclosed for the fall season, with heaters spread among the tables).

Staff was very friendly and accommodating.  When the chosen bottle of wine was not available, server brought glasses of two other alternatives to the table to try--pick the one you like.  Nice touch.

Tapas are the way to go here.  All were good, but the standouts included steamed clams/chorizo,grilled sardines, and an amazing octopus seviche.  The many and varied tapas were all cooked perfectly.

Another plus was the availability of the the CHEESE COURSE, of which I am inordinately fond.  The cheese course is a great way to finish off the wine remaining from your dinner and is not to be missed.

I very much enjoyed my dinner here and will return--this would be a great place for a group of friends to order a mess of tapas and bottles of wine and just have a good old time.

Try it!

Though the service was inexcusably slow and inattentive, the few side dishes I ordered were tasty. I recommend the chickpeas & spinach dish.

The ambiance is nice; big booth seating across the back of the restaurant contributes to a warm and cozy group dining experience.

If you can find this place, you're in for a treat. Delicious tapas, good wine menu, really classy and elegant atmosphere. A great place for dates or ladies nights out.
