QURIOUS about the Q?! I went there when they first opened after seeing the big silver Q and being a BBQ luvr, I was hopeful.
So, it's swanky inside, Uknow - REAL cloth table cloths and napkins here, nice lighting, comfortable booths, not a fan of the chairs though. I hadn't had Hush Puppies since my last time down South, the BBQ Chicken was great, the collard greens with bacon and garlic was awesome, she had the pork chop which was exceptionally juicy. I asked the waiter if the BBQ style was Kentucky or Tennessee and the waiter said with the surprise "let me get the Chef"! The Chef came out and I found out that he's from near Kentucky, which explained the nice smokey "Memphis style" flavor (not Texas tangy) and he was the Chef at the very modern W Hotel in SF. Well, seeing that the World BBQ cook off is in Owensboro, KY, you will find his BBQ very accurate, and tender- tasty.
OK-OK-OK, so to warn you, while the service is good most of the time, it can be SLOW to get seated and you may have to wait for your entree longer than typical, but this wait is hit and miss and seems to happen if they are real busy of course. So make reservations or show up not starving! Have the Key Lime pie, it's tart, tangy, fresh and sinfully gud. Great place for a Date if you have no place to be Late.
Caveats: 1) Yes, it's patio is adjacent to the Whole Foods/Copperfields parking lot-but they did they best they can do for the space and when it's a hot summer day, it's so nice to sit out in the breeze- though the patio does seem at odds with the upscale decor! 2) Yes, it's expensive for BBQ- but the menu has much more than Q-thier fish and seafood is very good, and from what I hear-they do buy very high quality sources for all their food, that's why their butter is so damn tantalizingly tasty!
Barber's Q is unique, I've been there a few times, the food is always good, the price high, sometimes had to wait, but it is as close to Memphis I've tasted in the North Bay. Caveat Emptor!
The most unbelievable spiny lobster ever. Ditto for the freakishly amazing key lime pie with filling perfect balance between tart and sweet and one of the best cookie crusts I'ever had.
So yum yum.

This place rocks barbecue style food.
I think I've had everything on their menu: fried chicken, fish… Read more »
3.5 Stars.
Went for lunch on Saturday. We were one of the first customers of the day. Our waiter was really nice and informative. For a bbq place, they sure have a lot of seafood on their daily specials.
We ordered the conch fritters (special of the day) for appetizer, and Taste of the Q for 2 to share. The appetizer was good as fritters but we couldn't taste too much conch in them.
The Taste of the Q for 2 came in a big platter. It has everything: homemade sausage, chicken, ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Everything on that plate was so good, moist, tender and tasty!! It also came with a side of coleslaw. The coleslaw was just OK. The meats were definitely the stars in this show.
The waiter brought out 2 kinds of bbq sauce (mild and spicy) and 1 vinegrette based sauce to try. I like the spicy bbq sauce best even though most of the meat didn't really needed any sauce. They were good on their own.
I needed some bread/ bun to go with all that meat, and asked the waiter for a bun. He gladly took my order, and several minutes later came out with a nicely toasted bun. We were wondering if they were going to charge us for the bun and yes they did. $2.50 for the toasted bun.
The restaurant eventually filled up throughout our meal. The decor was modern and chic with black and white pictures on the wall. The busboy refilled our iced teas regularly and the manager (I assume) came over and asked if everything was ok. Service was nice.
We were so full we couldn't finish our plate. As I was paying, I saw a to-go menu in the check cover and the chocolate pecan pie caught my attention. It sounded so delicious! Based on the yumminess that I just ate here, I had to get one to go!
(I am minus-ing half a star because they charge their customers so much $ for a bun, and the restaurant is full of flies ....)
I went when they first opened. I am a fan of the BBQ and of pulled pork sandwiches. The atmosphere is really nice and a definite gem to have in the valley. The food was pricey and the service was okay. My pulled pork sandwich was good though I didn't care for the slaw on it. We go to the Rib Cook Off in Sparks, NV where there are 25 different kinds of ribs to taste and had high hopes for some good ribs so close to home. My husband orderd the ribs and was not impressed.
I hope to go again someday and give it another shot.
For my 100th review (fireworks here) I found something near and dear to my heart to talk about. BBQ. I like to fancy myself as BBQ kind of guy. I have been looking for some good Q in California for a quite a while, and BarbersQ is one of the best I have found so far.
First time in so we ordered the Taste of the Q for 2: brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, sausage. Everything was good. All the meats were really tender. The pulled pork was very moist as was the brisket. The sausage was amazingly good, one of my favorites along with the ribs. I tend to think that any BBQ place worth their mettle should serve spare ribs. Here they serve baby backs, which was a little disappointing, but they were still very good. So much meat we have enough left for a couple of sandwiches tomorrow.
(edit)
I was just reminded that they charged us $2.50 for a hamburger bun when we asked for some bread. What kind of BBQ place serves a giant platter of meat without some bread to make a little sandwich or sop up some juices and sauce? That is a pretty fundamental flaw in my book. I'm knocking them down a star for that.
(edit done)
I wasn't too wild about the sauces. The mild and the vinegar based were lacking backbone and zing. The hot sauce was decent. When the meat is good you don't need much in the way of sauce, so I went au naturale (sauceless that is) for a good part of the meal.
I did find the ambiance a little unsettling. Dressed up in all my wine sipping finery, fancy tables and chairs, pretty pictures on the wall. This isn't your typical BBQ pit. I could get used to it I guess.
I'll be back and I know exactly what I'm getting, Q combo, sausage and ribs.
Great! Good barbecued chicken, good ribs... great mac and cheese.
I dunno... I was sort of non plussed. It is supposed to be awesome but it tasted as if it was an hour old or so... sort of dry and overcooked. We had to wait a bit.... but it was fine overall. Not worth a wait, I would say.
We took some friends here for dinner, as we had heard good things about it, but there were so many things that just went wrong. We had a reservation for 6 people, which was booked far in advance, and they stuck us outside. In the cold. Great, they have heat lamps, but it only worked on about half the table. I wish we had been informed ahead of time that they were going to put us there, I would have requested an indoor table.
The service? Terrible. It was about 25 minutes before the server even came over to take our order. He did stop by after about 5 minutes to ask for a drink order, but no one was ready yet, and just didn't return. Food took an extremely long time to come out, and was dropped at the wrong seats. While most of the people at the table did enjoy their dinner, I found the sauce on my sandwich to be extremely overpowering (I had the smoked chicken sandwich, they put about a gallon of blue cheese mayo on it. word of advice, ask for it on the side).
From start to finish, we were there for over 2 hours, way too long for a casual joint. The meal could have easily been wrapped up in about an hour if the service and food delivery was where it should have been.
Okay, the food here is mighty tasty.... The Q in particular is very, very good.... loved the brisket , slaw and the mac n cheese is to die for (did not try the pie as I was just full, but sounds like I should have). The skirt steak was just okay....it came out cold and had to have them reheat it, but the accompanying fries were yummy! The place is nice... but the tables are cramped and sitting with my back to the bar I was continously bumped by servers or people passing by. I know these guys are popular, but it would be nice not to have to hear both dinner conversations on each side of you as you eat.... I would reduce the # of tables if at all possible to give people some breathing and eating room. Now, if the place serves good food, why the 3 stars.... whatever the issue was, maybe its because they had 4-5 large parties going, the service was just not good..... Our server was nice and friendly, but the timing was just off, off, off... we ordered drinks and then sat for 15 minutes while we waited for them... odd....
I ordered another glass of wine when my entree arrived and that got lost in translation somewhere and I never got it, but a shared salad to start showed up in about 3 minutes.... it was hard to pace things and therefore was a bit odd..... Also, being so close to other tables, I got to savor the slurred ramblings of the man at the next table who clearly had too much wine with dinner. :-) Last, and one thing I am not, is cheap, I found the wine prices a bit high.... I eat in Napa frequently and I thought the range of prices went into the higher range, which when you are serving bbq along with high end menu items does not make all that much sense to me.
I almost bit my finger off here. I got so delirious when eating that I was tearing at the ribs like a mangy starving coyote and my finger got in the way of my feeding frenzy. Seriously, like one of those hyenas ripping apart a gazelle in Africa. I was completely outta control with the amount of meat I was stuffing into my mouth. Yeah, it was that good.
I highly recommend the taste of Q which is a sampler for 2 people. It's a can't miss! Next time I'm in Napa I will drive out of my way to get here.
O- Oh my God I came in my pants
M- the best Mac and cheese ever!
G- Get there, now!!!!!
Good spot to go when you want to spend time with your dinner companion :) We went on a Saturday night (7pm), and it took 1.5 hour to get the entree. Don't get the combo bbq platter - hot link overcooked (dry)and they give you fat slices for brisket. Pull pork, french fries, and hush puppies were good.
Next time I crave BBQ, I will make a trip to Oakland.
My Northern California fearing parents are visiting from out of state. My plan is show them an amazing weekend that will make them love Napa. Since they are BBQ fanatics, I decide to take them to BarBarsQ.
We arrive at noon on Saturday. The plan is for lunch, then visiting some local wineries. The restaurant is nearly empty. We order soon after arriving. My mom wants to see what the 9 dollar hot dog looks like. I am relieved that she does not order it. Too risky.
The drinks and hushpuppies arrive. They are pretty good. Then we wait for our main dishes.
45 minutes goes by. No one has been back to talk to us. People sit down on either side of us. They order. They get their food, They are nearly done with their food. They pay and leave. We have not seen our server in quite some time.
Our food finally arrives. It is now 1:15. My mom notices that other tables have bread. She asks for some to go with her salad. Instead of corn bread, the waiter drops off the top of a sandwich bun. We shrug it off. Everyone finds the meal unimpressive. The salads, sandwiches, and sides are ok, but nothing memorable. We wait for the check. It is nearly 2:30 and we are losing precious winery time. I go up and ask for the check. It is over 60 dollars for our lunches - two salads, a beer, hushpuppies, soup, and one sandwich. We are amused to see that they charged us $1.50 for the sandwich bun top.
Luckily, I think, my parents find the entire situation hilarious.
For the rest of the weekend, every situation is compared to our terrible meal.
Lost my mom's sunglasses - well it was better than 68 dollars for mediocre BBQ.
Stuck in traffic - well it sure beats 2.5 hours waiting for a salads and sandwiches.
I think this will be mentioned at every holiday.
Unfortunately, it furthers my parent's belief that Northern California is crazy. Hopefully, I will do better on the next visit. I just need them to forget about the 9 dollar hot dog. Next time I will just drive to Oakland for BBQ.
A one star rating on yelp stands for "Eek! Methinks not." If you ask me to pay that for BBQ, I thinks not! Three stars here says "A-OK." Which is how the food is. A single serving of mac and cheese isn't so comforting when it costs you $7! $8 for grilled cheese? Really? For $9 the chicken soup had better save my soul, not just soothe it. And for only $16 you can eat fried chicken here, but Sunday only. The food is fine, the service is personal and friendly, the wine list is unlike anything I have ever seen in a BBQ joint anywhere, but I can't pay that for BBQ!
True story: Had a Friday lunch with a friend. We shared the mini lamb burgers for an app, each ate a salad, each ate a main item, and shared a bottle of wine. Our ticket was $178!
Go to Buster's in Calistoga for real BBQ. See my review.
Gourmet barbecue -- that sounds about as oximoronic as "gourmet donuts" from Donuts du Jour in Los Altos -- but its the best way to describe the place.
I had the pulled pork sandwich. The meat was very flavorful, the bun house made and tasty cole slaw. I wished there was a bit more slaw on the bun, but maybe that's just a personal preference. I wished my waiter had suggested fries on the side. The next table was thoroughly enjoying their and I would have found room for it if I had realized earlier.
The next table was also enjoying brisket and baby back ribs combo plate. The barbecue sauces also showed respect for the q. They had a Carolina sweet vinegar based, a hot and a mild Memphis style. Meanwhile back at the bar area, the owners and chef were huddling around tasting various steaks with different marinades trying to decide what to make as an upcoming special. Apparently the chef is Memphis train -- and it shows.
I washed it all down with a Navarro pinot noir at $9 a glass. Anyone who offers Navarro wines without gauging is top notch in my book.
While the outdoor seating area is relaxing, its a major drawback to me that they are situated in the middle of a strip mall. It may be an upscale one with Whole Foods and all, but its still a high traffic area overlooking a parking lot.
My bf & I went there for lunch after a relaxing weekend in Napa. And it was the icing on the cake!!! He ordered the brisket sandwich, I had the Q combo plate with chicken and ribs and we shared an order of mac & cheese.
First off, the brisket sandwich was very good. I tend to stay away from brisket b/c it usually very dry, but this brisket was very moist & more importantly..flavored and seasoned well! The ribs were very good as well, not as tender as I expected, but very good meat. The bbq sauce they provide was very tasty as well. But i think the best part of the meal was the mac & cheese. SOOOOO good! Its made from a combo of white cheddar cheese and a local gruyere-type cheese. So creamy but not too heavy. YUM! I can't wait until our next trip up there, we're definitely going again!!
So disappointing. I was looking forward to good barbecue and convinced my husband to make the drive from Sonoma to Napa. We should have stayed home! We ordered the barbecue for two, and it came out slightly warm-the one plus is that there was a lot of meat on the plate so we had plenty to take home. The cucumbers is the cucumber salad were soggy and I don't think they were fresh. I wasn't a big fan of there bbq sauce either. The hush puppies were great-highly recommended!
Service was so-so. We had to keep asking for water, silverware, etc. For the price, it just wasn't worth it. I'd rather go to a hole in the wall for great bbq at a decent price, then spend what we did at a chi-chi bbq that had so-so food. Which is a shame because I really wanted to like this place.
Any restaurant that lets me enjoy great fried chicken, a passel of bbq'd meat, excellent mac n cheese and a Boylan's grape soda all with my most favorite side kick in the world by my side? FIVE STARS!!!
LouLou was treated like a princess by the staff and they are offering one of the best dining deals I've seen in a while. .. BarbersQ for two is a platter of all their smoked meats - six ribs, a hot link sausage (not too spicy but very, very tasty), a pile of their delicious pulled pork, a large mound of their tender and much improved brisket, two pieces of bbq'd chicken and two sides for under $35.00 - a great deal and wonderful way to get to taste what they have to offer. That along with a platter of their Sunday fried chicken and a side or two including their incredibly good mac n cheese - a wonderful meal on a sunny day outside.
This place might be in a strip mall but I love it, I love it, I love it!
Alston Park and Canine Commons is close by to run your pooch and yourself after a large, filling meal.

After baking in the heat from wine tasting in Napa Valley, we made a pit stop here to try BarBersQ. I stumbled on it by just googling BBQ in Napa Valley. Although BarBersQ is in a plaza, their food is definitely better than just "plaza food" !!
Aside from the food being good, their service was exceptional. Sure there weren't many customers here at 530p on a Monday evening, but I think they would have done the same had the place been packed.
We started off with the BAKED OYSTERS. 6 for $13? Rather steep but they definitely prepared this well. I would order this if you're an oysters fan.
We moved on and ordered the HALF RACK OF RIBS W/ COLE SLAW. I don't know why I didn't substitute the slaw for something else since I detest slaw, but I got it anyway. Didn't try it. The ribs were cooked pretty well but I have to say the meat didn't fall off the bone. What I like about BarBersQ is that they have 3 different BBQ sauces to try: a more watery vinaigrette one, mild and hot. They were all good -- I recommending mixing the watery one with the mild one. Yum.
AND the winner for the evening is BarBersQ's MAC AND CHEESE!! I got a side of this for $7.00 and it was worth EVERY PENNY. The noodles were cooked 'al dente', the sauce was not too thick but not too watery, and the overall flavor was good. I will definitely come back here for their mac & cheese!
YUM-O!
Went with my boyfriend and we shared the Wedge Salad and the Fried Chicken.
The salad was AWESOME, especially if you like Blue Cheese.
The atmosphere is nice, but the tables are a little crowded. They have a good selection of wine and beer. The servers were all very friendly and helpful.
The fried chicken was okay, the mashed potatoes were pretty good. I expected it to be better than it was, but I guess fried chicken is fried chicken no matter where you go.
My only complaint was the prices. RIDICULOUS, especially since the food wasn't nearly as good as it should have been for how much we paid. I'd rather go to KFC and get a bucket that tastes the same, but is LESS greasy (seriously), for eleven dollars cheaper. Here, you only get 4 pieces for 14 dollars! And a very small scoop of mashed potatoes.
Overall a pretty good experience. I'd go there again, but not any time soon. I much prefer the cheaper BBQ joints around town.
This isn't your typical barbeque joint. It's in Napa after all, so it had to be redefined. First, BarbersQ isn't a joint. Rather it is a sleek, clean place plopped down in the middle, of all places, a shopping mall. The host checks up on everyone regularly and the servers are young and willing.
What really sets the place apart, however, is that they use top-notch ingredients and there is a chef is the kitchen. How do I know? Well, start with the iceberg lettuce wedge that comes with bacon, cherry tomatoes, slivers of radish and blue cheese dressing. This isn't the gloppy mess you find everywhere. Rather the plate is perfectly balanced. The lettuce, tomatoes and radish are fresh. The bacom crisp. And there is just the right amount of dressing. Or consider the gumbo. Again not an overcooked mess of whatnot. Rather hot, thick broth has been poured over shrimp, crab, and rice to produce a tasty plate of, get this a a barbeque restaurant, well-prepared food.
A combo of baby back ribs and beef brisket comes with cole slaw and some onion rings. The ribs and brisket are tender and cooked just to the point where they retain their texture and identity. The meats were a bit bland but largely fat free. I would have liked the sauces served on the side to have had a bit more zip but otherwise this was good food.
There are high chairs for kids and tables set out front so the kids can wander into traffic. All in all a relatively inexpensive way to get the Napa experience.
As a dedicated Everett and Jones fan, I will say I think this is even better.
See, I don't elaborate. What is there to elaborate about. It's bbq, you know what you're getting. It's either just ok, or great. This is great.
I really thought this place was overrated...the Beau and I both agreed that it was not top 100 material.
ribs - over cooked and dry.
beans and ham hocks - nothing special.
mac 'n cheese - dry on top, soupy on the bottom
corn bread - above average.
coleslaw - bland
The highlight was the pulled pork - excellent! would go back for a pulled pork sandwich and skip the rest.
Southern fried chicken, only on sundays.
Great wine list (includes Molnar Family Winery)
I am a Full On BBQer Supporter, get me some pom poms, hand me my skirt.
For me, sure, meat is good - but I am ultimately after the cornbread. Is it sweet? Is it crunchy? Does it feature jalapeno jewels? Whatever the flair, I am 'bout it.
BarBersQ? it's crunchy outer, soft, textured inside with whipped honey butter for spreading. Best of ALL cornbread facets, and I was slaphappy.
Ok, so cornbread aside, this place does have 3 more kick ass things;
1. wine list
2. side dishes
3. the MEAT
4. atmosphere
Shit - that's 4.
You won't go thirsty, there's beer, there's wine. And Honey, that wine list is fine.
Side dishes. BBQ is first and foremost their protein preparation, but the side dishes can make or break your meal. Crispy, never greasy shoestring fries, collard greens and roasted asparagus will keep your palate pleased.
Meat. Juicy, succulent and flavorful - and I got the PORK CHOP y'all. Famous for being tough and dry - and there was NONE o that going on here.
With choices like pulled pork or mini lamb burgers, steak and brisket, all the Carnivores of Napa will never go hungry again.
If you wanna be snobby, and let them eat cake? Chocolate Peanut Butter. That's right. I didn't stutter.
OMG I think I just fell into BBQ Heaven.. The Ribs are AMAZING .I should know.I travel all the way from San Francisco to get the awesome Ribs.Cant wait to see you guys again ! Oh Kelly is the manager there and she is such a pro.. Great food great sevice= Boom Happy Days
Loved it. Don't let the location fool you- yes, its located in a shopping center that includes a target. But this is Napa, so naturally, this is delicious bbq. We got the barbersQ for two sampler. After reading these yelp reviews I expected a teeny bit of ribs, chicken, sausage, and brisket. But this was a lot of meat on one plate. We definitely couldn't finish it all and had more than enough to take home for dinner. Don't miss out on the mac and cheese!
It's upscale BBQ -- and in that regard, it completely succeeds!
I see some people complaining that they've had better in Memphis at half the price. Okay, but... that's not what this place is trying to be, so get over it!
The food is great! The chicken soup is great! The hot dogs are great! They even have glass bottles of Coke from Mexico (IE. it's sweetened with real cane sugar, not high-fructose corn syrup -- taste the difference!)!
The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The restaurant is impeccably clean with great photos on the walls, and cool music on the speakers.
Yeah, it's in a strip mall, but that's neither a plus or a minus in my book. I find it pretty convenient to grab a bite there when I'm shopping at Whole Foods or Trader Joes or at Cost Plus World Market. I mean, if anything, I've been in strip malls, found myself hungry, and said to myself, "Man, I wish they had something better than this crappy Subway."
It IS pricey for this category of food, though, and that's too bad. Because if it were more reasonable, I'd be eating there at least 3 times a week.
Overall: Food is decent, service is poor.
Came on a Saturday night with the family based on yelp reviews. We made reservations beforehand (based on the crowd, good thing we did!) and were seated on time.
Random retail plaza but you can recognize the restaurant's big "Q" sign...
The decor is nice... lots of big windows, though it got pretty dark once the sun set
the food was good (though not mind-blowing, so i've already forgotten what i ate); the cornbread was tasty
the experience was overshadowed, though, by deficiencies of service by two levels.
Upon ordering a beer, we were told there were no chilled glasses to serve it in. I get that this is napa, but seriously? beer in a warm glass? it would only have taken a moment for our server to chill a glass, but whatever
secondly, the management:
a busboy drops a glass bottle of ketchup and it spills on my brother's shoes. The tables are kind of close together, so we move over one table to give them room to clean up. The teenaged-looking busboy scrambles to clean up and is joined eventually by by a manager... but the manager fails to apologize for the accident even after the busboy pointed out the ketchup on my brother's shoes
accidents will happen, but when you unexpectedly get condiments dumped on you... an apology would be nice.
(dessert on the house would be even nicer!)
OK, in the interest of fair play, I'm revising my earlier 3-star review.
My wife had received a gift card for BarBersQ so while we shopped in the Bel Aire mall yesterday with our 8 month-old son, we figured we'd give it another shot.
And so we were seated quickly and cooperatively, at a table of our choosing away from most of the other guests in case our son got a little crabby. The hostess was also very accommodating with the high chair and getting us all set up and comfortable. The service, so far, was excellent.
My wife and I ordered repeats of our original visit about a year ago; lamb burgers for her, half a slab of ribs for me. We split an order of fries.
My wife thought that her lamb burgers were good. On the other hand, I thought my ribs were much better than my previous visit, and the spicy BBQ sauce must have been improved some, because I quite enjoyed what they had offered. The fries were also great, but were really an afterthought in my book...think "crispier In-N-Out fries".
All the while our son happily & quietly munched Cheerios and smiled at the waitstaff. Thank GOD he behaves well at restaurants!
At any rate, we left satisfied, and only $36 lighter on the gift card (minus tip, of course). We'll be returning for the fried chicken on Sundays because it appeared to us that EVERYONE ELSE seemed to have ordered it...and it looked pretty damned good.
Again: not the best BBQ I've had, but a much-improved experience from our prior visits.

OK, let's be upfront & fair about this:
I'm a barbeque snob. Actually, to be more accurate, I'm more… Read more »
I finally went here after hearing people rave about the place. I just tend to forget it's tucked back in the parking lot.
I asked our server what was the most popular item, and at his suggestion, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich that was topped with coleslaw on a very soft bun. The little gem salad with mandolin sliced apples was a big hit at our table. My partner had the beef brisket and really enjoyed it.
Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and even kept cleaning up the wrappers from the sweetener for my iced tea.
The decor is very nice. Not your typical BBQ joint. Lots of chrome and shiny things. The doors were open and the sun was shining and it was the perfect setting.
I'd say pass on the cornbread. Ours was dry and it's really not worth spending money on it when they have so many other tasty items on the menu. Plus you won't need it with their portion sizes.
I've been trying to get here for Sunday Fried Chicken for a LONG time, and I finally did yesterday. It was a rainy Sunday in Napa, but soon, I would be warm and cozy from a great meal at BarBersQ. I've been on a quest for Fried Chicken since trying Ad Hoc's Fried Chicken. This place may be a worthy contender for top prize, because of the variety.
We began our feast with the biscuits, lamb mini burgers and the Wedge salad. All were very good. Don't pass them up, and order them as starters. The biscuits were not dry and crumbly, as you normally find. They came with ham and pepper jelly. The ham was almost like prosciutto in taste. Don't be afraid of the pepper jelly, it's actually quite mild.
Then on to one of the best Iceberg Wedge salad's I've ever had. A word of caution, though. It's loaded with blue cheese, so if that's not your thing, skip it ... but it you do like it, you'll be very happy. The Lamb Burger "sliders" were excellent too, and not as gamey as you would expect. They are served with a mix of mint leaves, cilantro, and a light dressing. DON'T IGNORE IT AS GARNISH! That mix brought it all together.
For our main course, I was told I should order the Pulled Pork Sandwich, and I am glad I did. The meat was tender as could be, and topped with the "hot" barbecue sauce, I was in a near euphoric state. the Butter Lettuce salad that came with it was refreshing, especially with the vinaigrette dressing to help break down the food.
We also had the Fried Chicken, and this was some of the best I've had. It was not super crispy, as I usually like, but simply seasoned, and just crisp enough. I was able to snag a piece while my friend wasn't looking. Served with Collard Greens, which I passed on, and Garlic Mashed Potato, it was a very good meal.
To top that off, we HAD to have Macaroni and Cheese, and their beans. Those that know me know I don't do beans. However, they were said to be top notch, and be sure to add the Pepper Vinegar they put on your table. NOW ... on to the Mac and Cheese. This may be my favorite mac and cheese YET. Creamy and Cheesy, with a very nice crust of crunchy goodness, don't skip this. GET IT. Your cholesterol count may haunt you, but your mouth will be so happy.
Because we ... I mean I .. I could not pass up the Apple Pie. You shouldn't either. Even my friend who does not do cooked apples was digging in. Served with some very good vanilla ice cream and caramel. Just make sure you order it WARM. Room temp pie is just wrong.
Service was top notch, and our server remembered everything we ordered without having to write anything down. And she knew all the specials without a cheat sheet. Yes, it may be cramped, as many of you noted, but it was at Noon on a rainy Sunday, so it wasn't bad. Location is odd, in a strip mall, and you will easily miss it. Just look for Target, and it's right across from there.
You won't be disappointed. Side note, there's a Sonic on the way in American Canyon. Next time I want to try the ribs and fries. Everybody seemed to order them, so they must be good.
Adding to my Mac and Cheese quest, this place has a five star rating for that cheesy dish.
Say what you want about the service, atmosphere or prices but the food is legitimately tasty. I think that a lot of people had an idea of what the Napa BBQ place should be, and this joint might not have much in sync with their vision. But some of these reviews make me cringe. BBQ food is ALWAYS expensive. Even Everett and Jones in Berekely is MORE expensive. The wine list is terrific and the to-go deal is unchallenged in Napa. I have a hard time controlling myself from taking advantage of it. I can empathize with the bad service, but i bet its tough to get good workers when your spot is in the middle a parking lot in the center of restaurant-supersaturated-napa valley.
tasty food, great wine. just go, be delighted, leave and have no complaints. a good dining experience should really depend on who you are with and less according to text book service. well i guess the interior is a little urban and sterile, but certainly not pretentious.
I give this place an easy five stars. I would like to visit this place again sometime to be sure it can hold up five stars. Plus the food was faboulas. The pulled pork was on point along with the greens. I also tried the brisket sandwich which melted through my tastebuds. The service was great with great food is five star talent.
I used to think of this place as four star worthy. That was before my experience the other night.
I am in my mid 20's and work in the wine industry. I'm not rich but I'm also not poor. I know how to tip and i know having worked in the restaurant industry how to greet and care for guests. Our server/sometimes manager treated us like we were kids. We brought in a very nice bottle of Frank Family Cab that we wanted to sit and enjoy. but the server didn't want us to. She returned every five minutes to try and take our order. We were taking our time trying to relax but oh no that's not allowed at barbersq. Everyone at the table could tell she was getting mad. Then she embarrassed us by blatantly walking up to coworkers and even at one point another manager and commenting on her childish table.
In the end we got fed up corked our bottle and left.
So out of the 4-5 times I've been there and received OK service and good food i now will never return because of that embarrassing night.
I gave them 2 stars because of our other visits.
Five stars for the pulled pork sandwich and the salad that came with it and 5 stars for Megan my server. Great pulled pork....
We went here on a Sunday because we wanted to try their Fried Chicken and BBQ.
We had a glass of red Zin, a lemonade, Fried green tomato as an appetizer, Fried chicken entree, Baby Back Rib & brisket combo, and a side of cornbread (entrees didn't come with cornbread or bread). The check came out to be $75 including tax & tip.
Mashed potatoes that came with Fried chicken entree was the best of all. Everything else needed a little more something... Fried chicken could have been crispier, BBQs could have been a little more moist and juicier (they were too dry in our opinion).
With $75, I expected much better food be served since I know I can go to other BBQ places and spend $30 and have much better BBQ. (I know at least 2 of them that I like...)
This place has some good Q for Napa. Its get an extra star for its classy feel. Plus a good wine selection. No sauce selection, but i made sure to request more sauce to drench that sucker. Ribs were Tender, but small portions. Thier pull pork was good too. but a bit small. service was good.
Great service, engaging owner (Gene), and really beautiful atmosphere. Try the "Taste of BarBerQ" (for 2 people) which is a sampler of a lot of their wonderful dishes, Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer, Corn Bread, Mac & Cheese and Strawberry Shortcake milkshake! Can't wait to go back soon!
We were just not impressed with this pricey, mediocre BBQ.
$45 for two not very tasty glasses of wine, one "BarBeQue Chicken" dinner and a wedge salad. Since the $15.95 chicken was described in the menu as a "half chicken" with collard greens, we figured we 'ought to be able to split that and a Wedge salad ($9.50) for dinner. I don't know where that poor chicken was naturally ranging...but it had apparently had a partial masectomy and was missing a thigh. It was the opposite of plump and juicy and added up to more like a 1/3 of a chicken. Fortunately we'd taken our meal to go and had a few beef ribs leftover in the fridge that we'd bbq'd earlier in the week.
From our interactions with the staff to the taste of the meal itself...all the way around BarBersQ was just not very good.
Very expensive and not at all southern atmosphere. I felt like I was sitting in a restoration hardware eating ribs and fried chicken, didn't feel right! I couldn't believe the ribs had liquid smoke on them. I do not think that they had even seen a smoker. I am from Memphis and the BBQ sauce was more Carolina or Kentucky or even Texas style and I was hoping for a little reminder of home. The service was nice! They do have Alan Benton ham however, it was put on a slicer and sliced like prosciutto, not southern ham. So, if you want a white table cloth rest. with decent overpriced food than you have come to the right place!
