Be it Harold's near the Federal Penitentiary or an old cinder block building down a twisty country road in the middle of nowhere, good BBQ is always found in the weirdest places. In this case, it is the food court at Underground Atlanta that is the unlikely home of delicious BBQ.
It's not just the BBQ that's good... it's the sides. Fried okra, mac & cheese like your grandma made, baked beans, peach cobbler, banana pudding, and much more are lip smacking good. This is authentic southern cooking and not the touristy version of it that you'll get at the more well known and pricey sit down restaurants.
The atmosphere isn't much to talk about. It's a mall food court after all. About the only other bad thing I can say about this place is that the salads don't look that great but then again, who goes to a BBQ joint for a salad?
Don't be surprised at lunchtime to find a long line here, sometimes as long as all of the lines at the other food court restaurants put together. That alone should tell you that this is the place to be!
