Review from Papandreou A.
Mill Valley, CA
I recently sold a property using the Barbagelata Company. Paul and his employees are knowledgeable, service oriented and easy to work with. Someone was always available to answer questions, give feedback and give me an honest opinion. Something which in this market is difficult to come by.
I highly recommend this company if you are looking to buy or sell real estate in the Bay Area. -

Ahhh, the good 'ole Barbagelata Company! I worked here for over two years as a part-time receptionist several years ago, so I've got the inside scoop on this place. Their business operations could be a little crazy at times, but all in all I did get the sense that they actually care about their clients (both the buyers and sellers).
They've grown a lot in the last few years, and if I recall correctly, they primarily serve buyers and sellers in the western half of SF (Sunset, Richmond, West Portal, Twin Peaks Districts, etc.).
Should I ever actually have enough money to afford a down payment on a down payment on a home in San Francisco, I'll probably give these guys a call.
P.S. Paul, Krista gave me the message. No worries :) -

My very first yelp review ! A well deserved 5 star rating goes to (drum beat please...) Alicia Tam, our agent at Barbagelata.
We've decided to invest in San Francisco after selling a rental in South Bay as a 1031 exchange, Alicia was referred to us by the selling agent in South bay, lucky us. From the first contact to the completion of the transaction followed by the after sale services, she has been pleasant, responsive, efficient and always consider our best interest as her priority.
Due to the time limit with 1031, we had to move fast. We purchased a bank owned property through bidding, closed escrow in record time. Not familiar with SF at all, Alicia made sure that we were well protected. We made significant improvements at the property, Alica kept in close contact by referring contractors, monitoring the work, sending us video/pictures to report progress. She also volunteered to help us rent the property, in fact she is the one who brought potential renters to see our property and got the place rented with top dollars.
I highly recommend Alicia Tam as one of the best real estate Agent in San Francisco. -

So here's I found my realtor Kathy White---the person you trust with your personal private financial information, your social security information, your credit rating, your personal private feelings and fears about probably the most significant debt and purchase you'll ever make in your life---she was the one who answered the phone. I called and interviewed no less than 5 realtors and most were out---by which I mean geographically as in not in the office *out* and detached, don't know you, couldn't care less about you living on the corner of Crack n' Main, but can I hook you up when you're ready *out*.
Kathy immediately jumped to the top of our list.
She was excellent at follow-through, kept her word---which in my opinion is a priority for realtors---went to bat for us consistently and got us into our new home with minimal hassle and headache. She threw in some buyer incentives...won't divulge the details on that, it's bad form; plus you need to work that out with her yourself.
Thank you Kathy for making our home buying experience a positive one! -

Jerry is an impeccable broker/agent. His expertise, professionalism and understanding of the market is a great help. We are selling our SF home and he has been a great advisor in the process. He has conviction in what he thinks is right and will put his money where his mouth is.
If you are selling your home, you definitely should ask Jerry to help you. You won't be disappointed.
I basically said, Jerry, sell it, this is how much i want and he took care of everything else. The contractors, schedule, budget, inspections, etc... Also he calls every other day to give me updates! What service! -

We just purchased our first San Francisco property using John Balestreri at Barbagelata.
We spoke to other agents, tried directly and looked all over. The experience with other agents was truly awful and would have been a disaster.
John has an incredible knowledge of the city, believe he has had his license since 1967. He steered us away from a couple of premium disasters, ones I had my heart set on and ones he would have made considerably more commission, and we couldn't be more thankful.
We were absolutely set on a couple of areas and John skillfully managed to steer us away. In retrospect it would have been such a bad idea. I find one of the largest issues that buying a place the first time is so emotional and terrifying. I felt perfectly sick writing the deposit check. Interesting thing is that if we won the lotto today we wouldn't move, best testament.
He is professional to the last and really makes sure that you are in your budget and really in the place you should be. Arranged all inspections and the vendors he used were fabulous.
Since we bought our place a couple of issues arose. Rather than vanish John could not have been more helpful in his follow and advise.
I would use anyone else under any condition. John is a pro, we so appreciate all the work he has done for us. I wish other real estate folks could take a lesson in civility from John.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I recently purchased my home using Jerry Stynes of Barbagelata. I was most fortunate to meet Jerry during one of my open home tours. He is a lifelong San Francisco resident, and an expert in the Sunset District. He was able to explain everything I needed to know to navigate the homebuying process. He was especially helpful in guiding me through the closing process, telling me what I needed to do at what time in order to execute my end of the deal. I was so happy to have Jerry's help, and I would recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell their home

Want to say that Paul Barbagelata is the best! I've sold three houses with his company and bought two through him and they were the smoothest deals ever.
In particular, I sold a home to folks who had been renting the house from me. They were a little low on cash and credit, but Paul made it happen!
Also, when my parents passed away and I was totally confused, Paul not only handled the sale of their house, he had a painter/repair team come in for a quick fix up and he personally arranged for an estate sale guy to handle the odds and ends that I didn't know what to do with.
Integrity plus! -

Another ringing endorsement for Rose Pali: She's represented my wife and I in 3 transactions (two purchases and one sale) over the last 8 years, and I can say enough good things about her. She's incredibly knowledgeable, ALWAYS available, a fierce advocate for her clients, and never less than a complete professional. We particularly appreciated her flexibility in our most recent purchase. As working parents of a small child, most of the meetings and paperwork happened after hours with Rose at our kitchen table. For a busy family, that's huge.
And as a final note: working with Rose is fun, even when it shouldn't be. We wrote multiple offers on multiple properties. We were a lot of work, and never once did we feel like we were putting Rose out. She was as committed to finding the right place as we were, and our happiness in our new home is proof. -

Paul Barbegelata and Kathy White were the consummate professionals when we recently bought a house through them. Paul managed to hold together multiple parties, including us, the sellers, and the sellers' relocation company, and made sure the sale moved forward quickly and in a highly ethical manner. He managed to pull together great inspectors, contractors, etc. with minimal notice to keep the deal on track. Paul has a great sense of the local real estate market, and he's willing to help out way beyond expectations to make sure the deal works out. Kathy provided invaluable assistance throughout this transaction as well.

Just attended a free seminar for first time buyers at their office in West Portal. It was extremely educational and I would highly recommend it to anyone buying real estate in SF for the first time. The agents are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

I would stay away from them - a friend of mine used them and got very little attention. They could hardly get hold of their agent. They're also rather unfriendly - I know they have a notary in there, and being a local resident, went in to see if I could get something notarized, because I was in a hurry. I was even willing to pay. They were quite unfriendly and refused, even though things did not look busy there at all. Of course, when they found out later that I was selling my house, they became very friendly indeeed - tough luck on them, since obviously I did not give htem my business.

My husband and I attended a Buyer's Seminar held at the clean and comfortable offices of the Barbagelata Real Estate Agency in West Portal. While it wasn't intended to be a private session, we ended up being the only people to attend (it was pouring that night, so by making the trek in the rain we really lucked out). Rose Pali and Marjet Wolbertus, of Barbagelata, and Sue Ballinger, a mortgage broker with Guarantee Mortgage who also gave a short presentation, patiently answered our questions and brainstormed ideas with us for three hours! I believe these seminars are meant to last about an hour, with six people in attendance, so you can imagine how pleased we were to find that these real estate professionals were willing to talk with us for so long and answer very specific questions. Their combined experience and knowledge was overwhelmingly apparent as was their willingness to go the extra mile. We have yet to start the process of buying a new home but when we do, our first stop will be with Rose Pali and Marjet Wolbertus of Barbagelata and Sue Ballinger of Guarantee Mortgage.
