This is the tiniest portion Italian Restautrant I've ever visited. Usually I feel like I went to Nonni's house. Today I feel like an unwanted step child. My first clue should have been that the restaurant only had two other tables of people. The second clue could have been that the entree doesn't come with a salad or anything just a small portion of homemade pasta, which was delicous but small for $19. We were so hungry we ordered a pizza $16 for 6 small slices of pizza with sauce and cheese, no meat. We enjoyed the bottomless Mimosa for $17 each but unless you are a fish you will never get your money's worth. All in all a Groupon should not cost you 41.00 additional dollars when alcohol was included. Recap service was decent, food is tasty but portions are small and the Groupon is not a deal but a lure.

Very good food. We had the charcuterie plate which was amazingly flavored. The toasted bread was. A great compliment.

For lunch I had the baked fussily with rabbit. Literally O F F T H E H O O K!!!! I think one of my favorite Italian dishes of all time. Try this dish.

The margarita pizza is very good too. More like a pizza in Rome.

Right on the money with the consensus for Bar Sugo.

As always, Italian food is take-it or leave-it for me. Bar Sugo has that modern, hip look to it, which makes the space so much more tolerable for me. We came late, like after 9/10 one evening to eat here, and the staff was so accommodative and kind. So far so good.

We started with a Brussels sprout appetizer, which had a honey mustard and black pepper dressing, and it was good. Brussels sprouts might have been a bit overcooked, but I like them that way so I was good.

For my meal, I did it, the Spaghetti Carbonara. It was really well seasoned, and it was good. Not the best pasta dish, but good al dente, and good flavors. It's a nice place to go, and I think I will go back, just have to find something I LOVE to compel me a third time. :)

      Some pasta dish. :)

The food was pretty good. The service..... Was the best that one person could do with like maybe 12-15 tables. I don't think I've ever seen someone spread so thin.

We were super hungry and my girlfriend told me about how great this place was. No drinks, straight to ordering calamari and 2 pasta dishes.

Then we never saw her again...... Lol. At least for quite a while. We noticed she was taking care of the other section indoors, but then saw her go outside too? No other servers? Bartender can't walk around and do something!? After like 25-30 minutes we got our fried Calamari! They weren't that busy that the kitchen would have to take that long before they could flash fry something. The intentions seemed good and I loved the sauce, but I see why they put the sauce on the bottom, wasn't hot and would have been soggy if they had dressed it.

2 Pastas came just as we finished the app. Lady friend had the lobster. Tasted like lemon juice came from concentrate, but the lobster meat was plentiful and the pasta itself was great. I order the mushroom pasta. Basic Agaricus(button) mushrooms, no porcini or anything, but a good mix in the sauce. Great flavor, great textured pasta and all around really tasty dish. This alone makes me feel kind of bad for giving this place just 2 stars, but I don't know if I can call them a functioning restaurant at the moment. Sorry. I'll be back and hopefully throw you guys the 4+ stars that I'm sure that kitchen is worthy of.

I always try to give a restaurant a couple chances prior to writing a review. I feel maybe it was a bad day or cooks are different so why not give a second or third try at an establishment. We sat at the bar for brunch. Most of the time, I select bar seating so there is service when needed. However, this was not the case. The bartender was too fixated on her phone and was hardly behind the bar (re: pic). We had to get her attention during our meal versus her checking to see how things are progressing, pouring wine, or water.

As far as the food: the meatballs lacked a good outer texture often associated with meatballs. They seemed overworked by a blender versus gently folded. The meat itself was fine but I could not get passed the mushiness of the meatballs.

The chicken and waffles: we had to have them remake the waffle due to it being undercooked. Upon receiving the second waffle, it again was undercooked. The bartender didn't even come back to ensure we were pleased with the second waffle. As far as the chicken, the inside meat was too dry.

This was my third unpleasant visit and my final one.

Also a note to the owner or manager: don't have the employee put the meatball tester pick in his mouth and replace in the salt used on people's food. I watched in disbelief the employee putting the pick in his mouth and placing it back in the salt numerous times.

We wanted to try their brunch menu. First thing is that it is very difficult to find parking on a Sunday morning. I had to travel through several blocks just to find parking. We were seated immediately the restaurant was not packed at all. The waiter was very helpful when it came to explaining their brunch menu as well as the regular menu. We ordered from the brunch menu, I had the Ricotta pancakes and my gf had the egg salad toast. For being one of the first couples there the service was rather slow. We sat and waited for quite some time to get our order. Now I must admit I am not a go out and have breakfast type of guy, I prefer my breakfast at home where I can have it my way and in a timely manner but oh well. The Ricotta almond pancakes were different and I guess they were ok but definitely something I would order again. My gf had the egg salad toast and she loved it. Hence the 3 stars. If it were up to me I would have gone lower but she raved about her meal so I thought I should be fair.

Very nice casual spot, the meatballs are a must to try. Pizza is OK not up to my standards, the atmosphere is nice but ceiling is super low it feels little tight in there...

      Just average restaurant nothing spectacular.

I have been wanting to visit this restaurant for a while and finally got there last week. Arrived around 7pm to a noisey, what turned out to be bar crowd, that cleared out by 8ish. My husband and I each order one of there specialty cocktails and the meatball tasting, while looking over the menu. The cocktails were fine, then the meatball arrived five small balls in a bowl with what tasted like a raw can of diced tomatoes over them. At $5+ a ball I could not differentiate the taste only that one was a little more spicy,
When the mgr/waitress came by to ask how they were.....I told her they sucked. She said, "they had won many awards", and did not offer to get us something else. If that is true someone let the original recipe/presentation down big time. Needless to say I will not be returning anytime soon.

      What a HIDDEN GEM!

If it hadn't been for YELP, I might've not ever found this place, due to it's location. I was looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate my wedding anniversary. Something quaint and romantic, with a menu to please. It seemed that Bar Sugo had what I was looking for, and I was not disappointed!

We came in for dinner last night. The place was intimate with warm lighting. The menu had variety for the tastes of those wanting to try something more than your typical 3 course meal. We decided to start off with some drinks. I went with the Mai-Tai, as I felt like having something sweet. It was exactly what I was craving, a well-balanced drink, not too sweet, not too strong. I was happyyyyyy.

There were three of us, one being a child at 5 years of age, and the struggle is that not all restaurants have a kids menu. Bar Sugo does not have a kids menu, but our server was very helpful with suggestions, and we decided on a margherita pizza, sans the basil, and with an addition of soppressata, a make-shift pepperoni pizza, but better! He was happy.

My husband and I got the bruschetta appetizer, which came with two large pieces that can easily be shared with 4 people. It was delicious! The bread perfectly toasted, with the tomato and olives covered in fresh olive oil and thinly shredded parm. YUM! To move on to our main, we shared the homemade cavatelli pasta and funghi pizza. Of the two, the pizza was my favorite. The cavatelli was good and completely devoured, but the pizza was calling my name. Brick oven just creates the best crust, while maintaining the savory flavors of the toppings to perfection. Our pizza had homemade sausage with ricotta cheese and truffle oil. Both my husband and I loved it.

Aside from the meal, the service was great. It was welcoming and attentive. We enjoyed our evening, and never felt like we needed to flag our server down for anything. Our glasses filled, and our tummies full, we were very happy throughout the night. We will definitely be back for more and to try all the other promising items on the menu.
