Delicious Sangrias! Really small place and music is too loud. This place doesn't need a DJ...an i-pod with speakers would be sufficient for such a small place. Good place to go if you want a drink but not a place to make a whole night out of...nothing special.
I'm admittedly biased, as I play records here, but Bar One is a fantastic bar. Honestly, that's why I play records here. The vibe is awesome, the prices are somewhere between good and great, and Sean is one of the nicest bartenders I've ever met. And where else can you get a glass of sangria without making it yourself? If you're into punk rock at all, come out on tuesdays when me or one of my friends will be playing records. Bar One is fantastic.

Great bar with a nice vibe. The sangria is good, and a deal at $3 a glass (at least it was on Thursday, when I went). Nice beer selection too, and good music ;-)
I live right down the street. This is the bar that lured me away from the Tonga Hut, which is no small feat for a place without a full liquor license. That's the only reason I could think of to go somewhere else, because a decent selection of wines (the house pinot noir is great), both Hoegaarden and Guinness on tap, great music at all times and nice, personable bartenders make this the place to be in my hood.

I love this bar. It's really cute and convenient to anyone living in Valley Glen, Sherman Oaks, and Valley Vilage. The serve a really good sangria and the music is always good. I especially enjoy the Saturday night. If you like good hip-hop and soul this is a good place to hang out if you don't feel like driving to Hollywood and just want a drink and some good music.
Dang, I'm not the first person to review this place!
Bar One is everything you'd want in local imbiberie ( i made that up). Wine list (the Mouvedre from Jumilla is by leaps and bounds the best wine on the list), Belgian beer, cheese, and a nice bartender named Mark.
Come here for the drink specials or the beer, stay for Al spinning records...the wine isn't for the discriminating oenophile, but good enough if you don't care...
Bar one rocks. Thirsty Thursdays anyone?

I checked this place out after finding it on yelp and wasn't disappointed. It's kind of small, but the music was very chill and the drink prices were good. No one can complain about $4 black & tans. I will definitely be coming back here.
I went to this place for the first time last night. It was one of those situations where a friend wanted to meet me at a bar. I figured, why not? I don't go to bars regularly. I wasn't expecting much of anything.
My expectations were extremely surpassed. This place is so my speed. I had just exited my car from listening to Muddy Waters and entered this bar that was playing James Brown. I then found them to have different themed nights and Thursdays happened to have a dj spinning 60s Soul, R&B, Blues, Ska, etc.
The bartender was very friendly and inviting. I later find out he's in Hepcat. Imagine that. Thursdays also have a 2 beer for 5 dollar special and last night it was Heineken. I'm not a big fan of Heineken but the price made me not care. The menu I was handed showed decent varieties of wine and beer and the prices were very reasonable.
There was a thing written on the mirror behind the bar that said Mystery Beer: $3. I asked about that. Apparently you order the mystery beer and it's up to the bartender to pick your beer. I didn't take that chance.
The environment, the people, the music, it all came together in a very good experience. This isn't like a lot of bars I've been to. I'll definitely be back.

This is one of those little bars that you dont feel afraid to go into alone. Everytime I have been there, there is sa-weet reggae coming from the Dj. The owners and the bartenders (which I think are the same), are pretty cool too. The wine selection changes a bit, but I think thats just them getting into the swing of things, being a new bar and all. Also, there is parking in the back which rocks, It also has a back door so you dont have to get your hustle on to get out of the cold!

I'm not a valley person AT ALL but I'm completely smitten on Bar One. I've been here at least 5 times. Super great selection of beers & wine and you really can't beat the vibe whether its movie night or funk/soul night or if one of the boys from the aggrolites is spinning the tune-age. I only wish I lived closer! I take that back, I wish Bar One lived closer to me...in Hollywood.

I was a regular to semi regular of the old Liquid Lounge Too and have found it very easy to transition to the new Bar One. The crowd is unique and the vibe is always inviting. Without the dart boards and video poker, the room is much more inviting to people with good wine , beer and soul on the menu. There is nothing like having a great neighberhood bar. I will never drive again.

Ska and soul music. Great beers and great wines. HD TVs that have great sports as well as great movies. Doesnt matter that they don't have hard liquor. Ricky Hatton drinks there when he's in town. But he's never in town. Doesn't matter. Besides the point. If he was, he'd be there.

Bar One: The slogan is: "Wine, Beer and Soul" but it should be, " Wine, Beer and Wiggers (hint: think, "Bangin in Malibu")!"
Avoid this dump frequented by played out wanna be hipsters lacking the transportation to get to Silverlake. The Cheesecake Factory has more soul than this spot.
Wine: Medioce
Beer: Okay
Vibe: Two thumbs waaay down.

New bar with a cool vibe in Valley Village. I've been there a couple times since they've opened and both nights I was impressed with the eclectic crowd. Not your typical bar - more of a soul lounge. They've got something different going on each night.

Stopped by this place on a Friday and there were a handful of people in there. I could probably count them on all three hands. I looked at the wine list and there was nothing on there that really jumped out at me, so I opted for a brew. Very nice beer selection and very reasonable prices. There is also a giant bowl of sangria that I thought was a great idea! I always felt that a wine bar should have sangria. Its the best thing to do with leftover wine. Maybe next time I'm there, I might go for a glass of it. It seemed to be popular with the regs. Not a lot of wine being drunken here. Everyone seemed to be going for Guinness and Boddingtons. I had the Chimay White which was delightfully hoppy and refreshing. I followed it with a Duchy's Organic Ale which was mild and malty. To finish the night off, I had an Old Speckled Hen, a very creamy and mild cask ale from England. I wasn't really a big fan of the soul music; In my mind, soul and wine don't really go hand in hand. But what do I know??
$5 Thelonious Monk Ale and Lynne Collins's "Think (About It)" playing on the loudspeakers... It then occurred to me that I rather not be anywhere else on that particular Friday night.
World's friendliest bartender works here.
