This is by far my favorite bar. While I find myself having less and less time to go out, every time I come here I feel like I've come home. As many have pointed out, this is a small place, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality beer selection and great service. While I definitely have my favorite beers here, I've found a lot of them by asking the bartender (usually Arthur or Jed, but it doesn't really matter who's there, they all know their stuff) what I'll be drinking that night. In the beginning they just asked what beers I usually like and what qualities I look for, but really I have never been steered wrong. Everything is REALLY reasonably priced too, so you're never paying too much.

Love coming out on a Wednesday for Bar One's Record Player Party, where you bring your own vinyl to play (you really can see what an eclectic crowd the bar has when you're listening to the music they bring) and enjoy a great beer or wine while doing so. Definitely bring your own vinyl if you have any, it's a great night and you'll meet a lot of interesting people that all have the same passion for music as you do. You'll probably end up talking to a  few of them and drinking with them by the end of the night.

There's also Monday's Mystery Beer night where it's $3 for a bottle (poured into a glass) of about 3-5 different domestic craft brews. Catch is, you'll never find out what you're drinking (believe me, I've tried). That's part of the appeal though. I've always had a good time on Tuesdays also playing Loteria, where each win gets you anything from a bar tab to a special prize, or points for their monthly prize. Everyone there gets really into it and has a great time. Remember, if you're going to play Loteria, yell out LOTERIA loud if you win and listen carefully as your host Herman calls out each card.

The owners, Sean and Arlene, are great and are there working the bar throughout the week and never fail to make you feel at home. Even as someone who is there regularly, they never fail to greet me as I walk in, nor anyone else. It's really a great atmosphere. Did I mention the obscure classic and foreign films they have playing on their TVs? It's great stuff.

Thank you, my fellow yelpers!  You definitely know how I like my sangria.  :)

I've come here on an empty Saturday and a week night.  I must admit that I like the spot.  It's just a single bar with low lights, juke box in the back, and good alcohol with friendly bartenders serving it up.  It's definitely a good spot to mingle and chat it up.  I was told by Arthur (one of the bartenders) that Saturdays are normally full but I like not having to rub elbows with everyone in the room.

They have super sangrias - one with pear cider beer and the other with a shot of sake. Tried both but I wasn't too impressed because having my sangria straight up tasted better, at least to me.  Ooh, I love the prices too.  Sangria is only $5, but the super one is a dollar more (I think - I didn't pay for those).  LOL

This place is known for their good selection of beer but they still have a full bar. I can't wait to come back apparently Arthur doesn't get enough Filipina love.  I'm right here, baby!  LOL Be back soon.  :)

Well, first off, I was expecting the place to be bigger but I do like the rather narrow layout, although I don't think it's appropriate for a bar where everyone is drankin themselves up another pants size.

I was so sad about my Tokyo Mule. It was very bland, tasted mainly like ginger beer and seemed watered down. The place definitely gets points for the inside though, it's very dark and has an almost romantic aesthetic.

    Probably wouldn't come back though.

This is my new favorite bar. Yes, they only serve beer and wine but they only serve the good stuff. I had this drink called "black velvet" and it was so good. You must try it. Also, the bartenders there are really friendly and super attentive and will even come over to where you are sitting and take your drink order. It's not a huge place but that's kinda what I like about it. They have a small patio out back for smoking also.

Small bar but a nice spot in NoHo!  Came on a Friday night with the bf and my friend and her bf.  Seemed like a nice environment and friendly atmosphere.  When I went back in Sept 2011, they had a deal going on if you check-in to Yelp, I think it was buy one get one free drink OR get a free drink, I forgot!  Anyway, we took advantage of that and showed the bartender who quickly knew about it.  I'd come back here again if i was in the area.

This has been my local hang out now for 2 years. I enjoy this laid back atmosphere, retro red damask wallpaper and obscure films playing on the TVs . It's really what a good neighborhood bar should be. Arthur and Sean are great and they make you feel like family when you walk in the door.
Every night of the week is something different and you can never go wrong with the crowd that comes to BarOne
Plenty of micro brews and wines..by far the best Sangria in town.

Really nice small bar in NoHo.  Solid Belgian beers on tap (my favorite) and a nice wine selection.  I went there on a Monday night with some friends and it wasn't too crowded.   A great place to be able to actually have a conversation at a bar.  The bar tender was very friendly and I look forward to going back there!

I have been going here a few times now and each time has been a great bar experience. Thanks to a friend of mine, I have found my bar to be whether it is to chill, to drink, to get my game on at Loteria, or even have a couple of tastings here and there.

Bar One is definitely a small wine and beer bar parlour, but it has a wonderful selection of craft beer with reasonable prices and its super sangria is extremely delicious AND potent!

I recently went to their Oktoberfest and got one of the specials - an Oktoberfest mug and Oktoberfest beer! That's so cool! Plus, my friend brought in his Das Boot and the bartender was able to fill it up. Actually, all of the bartenders are friendly and they can easily talk to you! That normally doesn't happen in bars at Los Angeles.

Lastly, there are purse hangers for the ladies! How great is that?

    I will return!

Aspiring for a 19th century Parisian parlour meets minimalist, no-frills hipster-chic aesthetic, this dimly lit bar is a haven for locals seeking decent beer and understated atmosphere.

The bartenders are perhaps the nicest and most attentive you can find but the real draw (beyond booze) is the "little stuff": free food in the form of popcorn (and onetime veggie sandwiches), alt-horror and cult classics  on the tvs, loteria (mexican bingo) on Tuesday, spin your own vinyl night on Wednesday, trivia night (with a winner each round) on Sunday - this is what makes this bar stand out.

The drink selection is mediocre, but beer lovers will always find Allagash Curieux and Old Rasputin on tap (not bad for about 10 taps). The wine selection is small and unimpressive, but they have some fun and tasty takes on Sangria and Palomas (using agave liquor rather than tequila).

It's small, effortlessly yet unpretentiously cool and you probably shouldn't come 'cause right now it rarely gets crowded.

My buddies and I occasionally come here on Sunday nights for Pub Trivia.  It's a great, laid back atmosphere that's great to just relax in a low-key, social atmosphere.  I've never been on any of the other nights, but it seems like they are really trying to create a personality.  Not many bars can say that.

If you like 80s movies and vinyl music, this is especially the place for you.  If you're not--still definitely worth checking out.

    Awesome bartender (check)
    Happy hour specials (check)
Great selection of beer and wine (check)
    Fun shenanigans (check)
Chill place to hang out (check)

Like others have said, Bar One is the bar you wished was your local bar. You won't have to worry about terrible service, you get your drink promptly, and it's all over good fun.

Happy hour is Monday-Thursday 6-9PM and ALL DAY on Sunday. On Monday nights there's $3 mystery beer (bottled craft beer) with a promise that it'll never be crappy beer. You'll never know what exactly you're having so there's some mystery in it!

If you're more of a wine person, they have a decent selection of reds and whites, as well as sangria (red). If you just want to get plastered faster there's always shots! I tried the agave, which is actually a wine that tastes like tequila. It goes down smooth and has a smaller percentage alcohol content.

This is also a great place for the picky drinkers (I won't name any names, but her middle name is "Trouble"). Sean, one of the owners, is super personable and suggests drinks for you to try based on beverages that you like. Let's just say "Trouble" has a generous amount of sample beer, wine, sangria, and other on a given night ;)

I went on a Monday night and there were jams playing from the owner's iPod (good mix) and sports on the TVs. It looks like they have other shenanigans on other nights that you should just check out if you're in the area!

Oh and if you're a fan of Lost Coast Brewery, there's a beer garden this Saturday (6/18/11) in Bar One's parking lot! http://www.bar1noho.co...

Came here on a whim one Friday night with a couple of some friends. Was pretty empty for a weekend. I don't I remember it having any music. Which if you ask me, is kind of really awkward. Do keep in mind, I did say I can't remember. Bar was a decent size.Nothing really caught my attention to want to come back again. And I was pretty drunk soooooo..must've been boring :o The drinks were your average $7.00 a pint. Alright beer selection. Yeah..won't be back any time soon.

Super awesome vibe at Bar One! I love the small, dimly lit, red wall interior. Last night they were playing National Lampoons Christmas Vacation on the televisions. Thats  reason enough for 5 stars. On Tuesdays, they play Loteria which is like Mexican Bingo. Everyone is so chill, and yes it's a beer and wine bar but they have a really good selection of both. Overall, good bar. Def will be coming here again.

We didn't stay long, we walked in and you could almost hear the record screech to a halt. There was bad techno/jazz/something playing and it was a little upscale for us.

Couldn't tell you about prices or anything, as soon as we stepped in we got the one over and eye roll from the folks lining the bar and left soon after.

From what I could tell, business casual.

Again, I searched for a dive and this came up. Being new to california maybe dive bar means something else here?

I just want a dart board, graffiti in the bathroom, music that doesn't make me want to hang myself, and highlife/pbr.

My first time at Bar One was a few days ago.  Its a small place, but a lot of character!  The bartender was really nice and we even got to meet the owners of the place.  Happy our started at 6:00pm!  So for all you people out there that want to unwind and have a little drink after a long day at work or just want to go out for a drink, this is a nice little place to go to for Sangria, beers, or any other drinks.  It's really nice chill place.  Lol...they had a record player playing some music, which I thought was cool since I haven't seen those in a long time.  Overall, a nice chill place to go after having sushi next door.  Dinner and drinks!! Lol what a combo and it's so close to each other. :)  Already mentioned the place to some friends for when they come visit. :)

This is a dark bar... Like Ice Cube said it's "Blacker than a trillion midnight's"... I walked in from the outside and was completely blinded for about one hot minute.  One of the bar-tenders was wearing plaid, and damn it, he wore it well.

I was meeting a date, and hungry as hell... But there is NO food... Doh!  I shoulda researched this one better before driving all the way here.  I settled for a couple Sapporo's, in the can... cold.  The gal had Sangria wine in a plastic tumbler... with ice.

The place is about as big as a long hallway, literally... There is no tables, no booths, I mean basically it's a long, dark bar, and that is it.  They played some kickass tunes, so I will give em that... probably the old iPod mix, but I was diggin it.  The bartender greeted me with a hand-shake, which was nice, but not as nice as it was almost expected, since I had previously read (on Yelp), that the ole hand-shake is customary... But it was "cool", nonetheless.

NOTE: The bartender did give my date a FREE 2nd (or was it 3rd?) serving of Sangria "on the house"... Which was nice, but I couldn't tell if he was trying to hook me up, or himself... Lucky for me, in this case, I think his mohawk worked against him; score 1 for the little guys.

It's a sort of hip place.  We played trivia, and lost... I never win at trivia;  Probably because I have constant internet access, and therefore have no need to retain information.

I don't know what to say about this place, but if you are a raging alcoholic and live close by, then certainly go there, get blacked-out, and make some friends.  Also, if you are close by, it's a perfect "quick" date spot for one (and only one) drink... I suppose...

In summation: I think Billy Martin said it best when he said "Give me the Key's, I'll drive". - D. Leary

My boyfriend and I were recently watching his dad's house in NoHo, and as a result decided to explore the area more than we had in the past. We were happy when we randomly found this bar a half block away from the house. We went on a Sunday not knowing it was trivia night, which was FUN FUN FUN. We did't win (there are some serious professionals), but we had a great time. We found ourselves here several times in the few weeks we were there, every time leaving happy, thinking how great of a bar it was. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the beer selection - I am not personally a Belgium beer fan and like a hoppy IPA. This is not the bar for that. Fortunately, they have other awesome drinks.

If you are in the area stop by, especially for happy hour - they have $3 sangria mmmm. My other favorite drink there was the Joan Jet. Get it, drink it, enjoy. Thank you Bar 1 for an awesome few weeks (and we will be back).

I was extremely excited to have a few drinks here... and some trivia, and although the beer prices and selection were really good.  The bar really needs to screen their patrons better.  The night was basically ruined because the typical "ed hardy" d-bag was in abundance.  oh, and snake bite piercings... classy.
I'm sure if their crowd was different, this would be a better place.  Dark, free popcorn, light sangria, cool trivia on sunday, and lots of locals.  Which says lots about the area when D-bags are admitted freely.

Visit at your own discretion when in the mood to rub elbows with the "affliction" crowd.

Five stars for the best bar experience of my life.

I didn't know what to expect... After a nice dinner at Katsu-ya, my bf and I decided we needed more alcohol, so I checked Yelp, and LO AND BEHOLD- there's a five-star bar in the area?  I've never seen such a thing!  So duh, we gotta see what this five-starness is all about...

We plop down at the bar next to a stranger, who then informs us that it's trivia night (Sunday) at Bar One.  We're like, okayyy... let's see what this is about.  He then immediately informs us that he's adopted us onto his team.  It turned out to be a match made in heaven.  I'll just skip to the end and disclose the fact that we WON a round (Might I add, we were vying against ~10 other teams) and got a free bottle of sparkling wine!!  Yay!  Free alcohol at a bar is always a great thing.

The bartenders were super cool and they helped me to discover my new favorite alcoholic beverage: blueberry beer!!  Wow- that stuff is so delicious and potent!

If I were a local, I would definitely pop back into this bar.  The vibe is super chill and the people are cool.

I've also decided that I need to open a bar here in Hawaii JUST so that I can have trivia nights.  No, seriously!

I walked in one day with my boys, expecting another wine and beer bar, but I was blown away by the number of craftsman beers and small wineries that they have.  They have definitely made a new customer with me and my friends.  The atmosphere was brilliant and straight out of a bygone era.  That plus a mixture of a live DJ and sometimes live music, tells me that they are really trying to set themselves apart from other parlours in the area, which isn't easy.

Since that first visit I have been back a few times and am always surprised at how quickly they update their stock.  I can always find something new to drink here, which causes great conversations with strangers and would make a regular out of anyone.

I believe I've found my neighborhood bar.
The bartenders are friendly, attentive, and easy on the eyes (not a requirement, just a bonus).
There's only beer & wine, so no chance to make bad decisions and start doing shots (saving me from myself, I like it...).  The prices aren't cheap, but they aren't outrageous either.  The wine selection is decent, and priced appropriately.  The house white was great, as was the Riesling.  I don't drink beer anymore, but the selection looked good (no cheapies though).
Sunday night is trivia night, and my date & I won the first 4 rounds, scoring awesome prizes (including a $10 tab for my next visit, and a $10 gift certif to Amoeba!).
    I like the red wallpaper.
This is not a big place, I like that.
This place is comfy.  I'm definitely going back (and not just because I have a prize-tab waiting for me).

Stopped in here with a friend looking for a cheap drink and a nice atmosphere. This is a very cute space, and a very odd bar. Bar One calls itself a Beer & Wine Parlour, but the wine "list" is quite disappointing. Probably the shortest list I've ever seen without anything I've ever heard of. I tried a Chardonnay that I really didn't like at all, it tasted like a fruitless, cheap wine. I can't remember the name or I'd steer you away from it.

My friend ordered a rum and coke, but they don't have rum. Apparently they do make cocktails, but not the traditional kind. The bartender was very friendly and made several suggestions, including a beer she was very happy with. This guy was very attentive and friendly, and I did not tip him enough. My apologies bartender, my friend gave me cash for her drink and I paid for both with plastic. The bill was only $11 and I proceeded to tip as if it was one drink, when I was actually paying for two. I'll make it up next time.

The music was good and one of the flatscreens was playing one of the most ridiculous movies I've ever seen without sound. I believe it was Top Secret! and there's nothing like a bit of absurdity to add laughter to the night. Bar One doesn't take itself too seriously and that's what I like about it.

The minute I stepped into this bar, I knew I wanted this to be my neighborhood "lets get a drink" spot.  The bar is tiny, but completely awesome.

We sidled up to the bar, and the bartender immediately introduced himself and shook our hands which I thought was extremely welcoming. It was a Sunday night which meant happy hour from 4pm until they close at midnight.  We got a Moscow Mule and a beer with an interesting label:  A little boy peeing off of a mountain.  IT WAS DELICIOUS.

A huge tv was off to the side playing this independent film: http://www.sonyclassic...  which held our interests for the entire time we were in the bar.

Love the ambiant, love the atmosphere, love how good (and cheap) our drinks were...We will be back!!!

I went here yesterday and it was fantastic. I was a bit nervous at first because I am a bit biased and have a automatic distaste for the valley, but once I walked in I was truly amazed.

The whole interior motif of the bar is really nice, dark, and classy. I mean it really looked lovely with all the deep reds. There is always a place to sit, and the noise level, after it got a little crowded, was actually pretty good (for me I can't feel comfortable in LOUD noises! Like I mean LOUD, I can go to a concert easily, but I can't deal with loud in your face noise).

The other thing I quite enjoyed was how friendly everyone was. The bartender, I think his name was arthur, or something (I was creepily eavesdropping) is the nicest guy. I never felt intimidated or anything. He was having conservations with pretty much everyone, and it just felt friendly and nice. Also, this other guy was looking for a seat to sit at for his girlfriend, and my friend and I offered to move one seat over, and the guy bought our next round!!!! It was so great!

In my experience I felt more elated. Just those little things make you feel good. Going here you really feel great or better so I highly recommend that you come here.

ps its not too hipstery so that was a plus

I have absolutely fallen in love with this place. I've lived a block away for 3 years and have never stepped foot in this place. I'm so glad that I finally did.

My neighbors and I went here on St. Paddy's day since it was up the street and we could walk. It's a smaller place, but there are plenty of places to sit. They have it set up as two long bars running the length of the place instead of tables, which really helps to allow everyone to sit. They had a special where if you checked in via yelp, you received a free pint of guinness. Loved the guiness! So smooth, great for St. Paddy's day.

We liked this place so much that my neighbor and I decided to stop in Saturday night as well. We went in right when it opened (7 pm) and ended up staying til midnight just because we loved the atmosphere so much. Arthur, the bartender that night, is amazing! Any questions you may have about beer, he can answer for you. I received pretty much a whole history lesson on the makings of guinness that night. But not in a "this guy is talking so much" type of way, more of a "wow that's incredibly interesting. I didn't know that" type of way. He was so great to talk to. We want to go back just to have more conversations with Arthur!

Bar One is a great place to relax and talk with friends. The prices are extremely reasonable and the ambience is really nice with low lighting. Oh, and the best part about it that will keep me going back.... The Double Chocolate Stout. I think it may just be the love of my life.

Love It! Bar One is a local's paradise! It's Easy to get to and has a private parking lot in the back.  Great selection of craft beer on tap and in the bottle, none of the crappy beer you can get at any old dive bar or 7-11. Plus great prices on all drinks and Happy hour until 9pm! Classic movies play all night on two screens (not a typical sports bar, but they will gladly put on that special game or event if you ask nicely) and a great music selection that is never so loud you can't have a conversation over it. Different themed nights/game nights with giveaways and drink tastings throughout the week make it a fun place to check out on any night. Never overcrowded and the welcoming ambiance and friendly staff make for a great time even if you roll solo! It's even worth a trip over the hill for killer Sangria or tasty snack from one of the many food trucks that frequent the bar. If you like Good Beer and Wine in a laid back environment check out Bar One. Being a regular is fun when everybody knows your name, you're very own Cheers is finally here!

I love this bar!  It's a small place, rectangular in shape, with so much seating, such good music, and a really cool vibe.  There are bar stools along the bar and along the wall behind it, and there's a little couch area near the entrance.  The bathrooms are all the way at the back (though, "all the way" isn't very far, haha).  When I went on a Saturday night, there were cute nerdy boys and tattooed girls everywhere, and not a hipster in sight.  It was lovely.

The staff is SO friendly and SO knowledgeable.  They serve only wine and beer, and it's mostly California brewed and very reasonably priced.  I think the most expensive beer anyone in my party had was $5, and the cheapest was $3.  The bartenders explained the different kinds of beer to me with such patience, and everything I ended up trying was delicious.  Star Trek (captioned!) was playing on the two TVs above the bar, and the stereo was set to a delightful mix of poppy indie tunes, though not so loud that we couldn't hear our conversation.  I was so pleased.

One note: if you want a Shirley Temple like my best friend did, you won't get one here.  They have bottled Jarritos sodas and glass bottles of Coke, but that's it.

The bathroom was SO clean and large; there were TWO bottles of soap on the sink (!) and a full length mirror by the door.  The bar has a parking lot in the back, but it's not very big.  There was plenty of street parking though, even on a Saturday night.

I came here on a Saturday night for a birthday meet up and I LOVED it. Seriously, new favorite bar. Apparently it's a "Dive Bar" but it's got cute decor, clean restrooms, and lots of clean seats and lighting so I think it deserves a better label than that. The bartender is amazing, he will leave the bar to come around and make sure everyone's drinks are good and full. And the sangria...oh...the sangria. The sangria deserves its own paragraph.

The sangria is a house specialty and is totally amazing. Like, breathtaking not only because of its lovely flavor but also because of its high alcohol content. I had two glasses and it made my face numb in a completely amazing way. Love love love!

It's a teensy weensy bar, so get ready to get real friendly with your neighbors. Everyone who comes here seems to be really cool, so it's not a problem. There's street parking or a lot in the back (accessed by the tiny little driveway just west of the bar). Drink prices are so good, when I got my tab back I thought the bartender made some kind of mistake. This is a beer and wine only bar, but no one seems to mind.

    Go here!!!

Aurthur and Jed are about the best, most welcoming bartenders I've ever met. The prices are great, as is the selection of beers. The innovative bar schedule of events is perfect for the craft beer fan and foodie OR a casual regular. So happy to have spent a friend's birthday evening there. Will be back, for sure.

I came here on a Sunday night and it was filled with people my age (early to mid 20s).
The pricing on beer and wine wasn't bad.
The bartender gave me and my friend a free glass of wine.
    It's close to me!

I can't complain about this place. I'll definitely be there again.

After our 3 truck food coma Jin N. and I decided to take a load off and wash everything down with an adult beverage.

We snagged two corner seats at the bar and our bartender greeted us right away. With a pretty impressive selection of wine and beers I went for their Sangria and Jin went for a cold on. We received our drinks in no time.

Our cool cat Bartender (didn't get his name but I think he said he works Monday-Thursday's) offered us popcorn to munch on and even though we had just stuffed our face at 3 trucks we happily accepted a little boat full. He stayed and chatted with us a bit about the trucks and I instantly became a fan of this little dive.

Sangria was really good and washed all the food down. I am pretty much never out in this area but I felt comfortable at this spot and would return again if I happen to find myself out in NoHo and I needed to take a load off. Parking lot avay in the back so that is always a plus.

A girl friend and I did our yelping research to find the place. We went there just last Thursday. The reviews promised a little more than BAR ONE was able to deliver. HOWEVER, that being said it was a good time. The two of us walked in and it was all guys, about 8 of them including the bartender. It was dark, small and be sure you drink either beer or wine because there is not liquor here - at least not for the customers ;)

We'd probably head back again if invited. Not sure we'd be the intiators. But the beer was good and the patrons at the bar, including the bartender, were all friendly. But, that could simple be because of the opposite anatomy thing!

What an awesome bar! We were looking for a place to enjoy a happy hour, and indeed we did!

It was pretty dead in there midweek... I could just be saying that because the old horror movies playing on TV in the dimly lit room. Either way, it was a fun ambiance.

The bartender/owner gentleman was very helpful in guiding our drink choices - he definitely knew his stuff! They had Xingu, which is a Brazilian black beer my BF loves, that is more rare to find at a bar. I had their house red wine (name started with an A... I know - helpful, right?), which was not too dry and easy on the palate... I'd definitely get that again! The other two in our group got white wines. Our 4 drinks were $25.

Overall, it was a fun time with good booze and a cool environment. Next time I need a mid-week Pep-Me-Up with a side of cheesy horror film, I know exactly where to go!
