What can I say about Bar Norfolk! This place is out of control. Firstly, I agree with Irwin, it should be called "Club Norfolk", as I don't know too many bars that allow 18 year olds in a bar.
If you are college aged students 18-24, then this is your spot. From the females dancing on the bar to the drunk asses riding a mechanical bull, you do get your entertainment in. It seems more to me like a college frat party rather than a regular club. So for the young and poppin', I would recommend this place for you to get your freak and drink on!
However, this is not the place for the grown and sexy. If you are over the age of 30, your old ass does not need to be in this club, unless you are there a chaperon! If you are taking your younger friends out, drop them off here, and go across the hall to Jillians and watch some TV, or go into Mojo's. Don't let me catch you trying to get into Bar!
Bar Norfolk should be renamed to Club Norfolk. It's located inside a small shopping/eatery plaza so it can be hard to find if you don't know where you're going. The music they play varies. One min it's hip hop, the next it's country so it can be disappointing. Prices for drinks are a little expensive but that's why you pre-game beforehand. Male to female ratio is about 1.5 to 1. Not entirely a sausage fest but most definitely not an an all girl's school. Not a bad place to chill so I'll probably be back.
We took a friend here for her 18th birthday... *eck! $6 cover charge (really?! for a place that's "1.5:1" ratio of males to females and I'm in a group of 3 females) and it turned out, we went on Military night... soooo the ratio was more like 5:1.
$2.50 miller chills, $4.50 for shitty gin and tonic in a plastic cup... I felt like I was in college again, but not in a good way. Girls are allowed to dance on the bar (it's funny to watch them make that awkward transition from dancing to hip-hop, to country, to top 40), as do some of the female bartenders (in a dress no less, with their baby-makers falling out). Male bartenders are also standing on top of the bar, chucking ice cubes at some of the dancing patrons, and laughing when they hit the dancers in the face. I guess this bar has to differentiate itself by making assholes of their staff.
2 stars because the line is shorter than Have A Nice Day, which is located across the mall. I can see why more people would choose to go there rather than Bar Norfolk.
I find it a bit hard to believe that I'm the first to review this place.. perhaps it's because all the male-frequenters of this place just don't yelp?
Anywho.. if you're a girl trying to get picked up by a dozen guys in one night, then this is the place for you. If you're a guy who doesn't mind hanging out with a bunch of other guys trying to pick up girls, then this place is for you. The female-to-male ratio is small (if you don't include the bartenders - who are all scantily-clad HOT females - which would probably explain why there are always SO MANY guys at this place). The music is your typical club music. There's a mechanical bull, which is cool. Girls dancing on the bar all night (which, I'm sad to say, I've participated in, and pulled all my friends up there with me, in my inebriated state). It's definitely fun if you're hanging out with a mixed group of friends (as in, you're group is evenly divided between guys and girls).. or if you're with all girls (because it'll be funny to just see other guys trying to approach).
Its located in a shopping center of bars. I went on wednesday which is college night and girls get in free guys pay like 5 bucks i think it was over 21 and under it was 11 dollars. It was full of girls super fun haha. They had go go dancers slash bartenders. Girls are allowed to jump on the bar and dance it was getting wild. It was cool i would go again
My guy-friends dragged me here for my birthday last year. It's not the best place I've ever been, but definitely a relief from the stuffy club areas on the strip. The music was pretty good and the atmosphere was pleasant and fun. The bouncers at the door were a bit itchy but let us through. I wouldn't say this is the SPOT, but if you're drunk and you want to go to a place where you won't get in the middle of alarming violence or kicked out for intoxication, it's not a bad choice.
