Not bad, not great.  Sometimes they have good drink specials, but don't know what they are.  I believe Friday night is ladies night and there are $2 well drinks and those are a-ok.

Most recently by beau went there during a domestic 1/2 price special.  He ordered Magic Hat, which is brewed in Vermont.  The waitress said the beer was not in the computer as domestic so it didn't qualify for the special, although Vermont is part of the USA.  To say the least, they lost a customer.

I would give it two stars for the atmosphere and sports watching - it is always a little too crowded for football and always feels abnormally hot in there.  The wings however, are awesome so I added an extra star.  They deliver the wings, so I generally skip going to this bar, but its not terrible.

I walked in here on a late friday night... it wasn't too crowded.. and immediately the smell of buffalo wings surrounded me.

I wanted to just sit and enjoy a beer... but all I could smell were those awesome buffalo wings.

So I sat there and finished the beer with my friend. Then I ordered another beer... and I succumbed and order the damn buffalo wings because the smell just took over.

And they were awesome.

Now I wouldn't probably stay at this place for more than a drink or two. But I'm sure during happy hour it serves its purpose. I wouldn't spend my whole night here (too small for an all night drinking event)... but I'll go there and order wings and watch the yankees or football. Its definitely worth it

This bar has been my "Cheers" since I moved to the UES three years ago.  They have great bar food, reasonable prices, and a really great beer selection.  As I'm a little too old for barhopping on MacDougall all night, I really appreciate a place where I can sit if I want, or socialize, or play Golden Tee.  Often end up meeting new people when I'm here, and the staff is awesome.   I've been here everywhere from after-work to a "last stop" at 3am and it's always a good time.  Just watch out for Halloween and St. Patrick's and stuff because it gets swamped with B&Ters.

As for sports, this place is my home on Sundays during football season.  It's a die-hard Giants bar, and has a really great and excitable crowd during the games.  I've even brought my Dad here for a Giants game ;o)

All in all, great neighborhood bar.

Typical UES bar, trying to stand out as different from the others. Eh.

If you want to be mentally transported to Cali, I guess you might like Bar Coastal. Surfboards and Cali street signs posted everywhere, after several drinks, you might just think you've left NYC. But then again, probably not.

I don't know what to say really except that it's not exactly memorable. Probably just a good place for starting out the night with some appetizers and a beer or two.

The best wings and my favorite- the Chicken Little- boneless chicken wings.

Love the chill vibe of this place and I order delivery form here a lot.

Great football season grub.

When I lived in the Upper East Side, this was my go to sports bar, especially for football season.  Not only do they have some of the best bar food, including atomic wings, cheesesteaks, fries, hamburgers, etc. but the whole staff is very friendly.  There are flat screens all over the bar, and it's completely packed for football season, but it makes for a fun time.

If you do go there, look for a big tall white dude standing near the front of the bar.  That's likely my boy Matt.  Tell him I said hi.

California meets crusty upper east side at this small bar on the corner of 77th and first.  Oh, a surfboard! Aloha!

The drinks are cheap, and the atmosphere laid back.  It's nice for a drink after work or to start off your weekends uptown before heading south.  Nothing special, but certainly does what it intends.

Greattttt boneless buffalo wings. Seriously. Amazing.

Not too expensive....and they have pitchers... I love pitchers, they remind me of college.

Gets really crowded during, well, any big sports games.

I like going on a Sat/Sun afternoon and sitting by the windows... watching lacrosse... I'm lame like that.

The service is actually really good, even during busy nights.

Great neighborhood bar, especially for those late nights and sports.  The beer is reasonably priced, the food is great, and the staff is very friendly.

What more can you ask for?

Stopped in here yesterday to watch the Ravens/Miami game, I was really in the mood for wings so was pleasantly surprised that it was the same owners as Down the Hatch. If you're in the mood for greasy bar food this place was clutch. We ordered: wings, waffle fries (with cheese & gravy), mozzarella sticks & fried calamari. All were equally good except we couldn't finish everything because the portions were huge. All that and two beers each was about $48 which was a good deal. :) YUM

They have Atomic Wings and Happy Hour specials, what more could you want?  How about darts and pool?  And some TV's?

The wings are good, ranging from mild to atomic.  The beer is cold.  Not a bad little place.

I have only been there during happy hour when it is not to crowded, not sure what it is like at night.

Nice place for happy hour because the drinks are really cheap.  (It helps that it's on my walk home from the subway).  Good service.

There is a little outdoor patio, but it's covered.  Not sure if that is a pro or con but...

Great place to catch a game, drink beer and eat wings!

The menu isn't expansive, but the wings are worth the trip!  Usually a great selection of beers and a full bar!

Lots of specials and great service!

A sports bar of sorts and the selection of beers is good. They even had a 'moca beer' that they let me try and it was really awful. If you could imagine Star Bucks Beer, yea..that bad. But hey, if they carry coffee beer they are bound to have the Tajikistani Goat Herders beer you loved so much, while youth hosteling through Europe and Asia. They have a good choice of chicken wings, onion rings, shrimp, and other well made fare.

I like the surfer motif on the walls, complete with short boards on the ceiling. If you have been to southern California; Mission Beach, Manhattan Beach and anywhere with sand, palm trees and surf, you'll recognize a lot of the junk on the walls.  However, I didn't see a Puka Shell necklace anywhere!
The girls are usually cute, the food always good and the beer is reasonably priced.

This is one of my favorite places to watch football.  The crowd isn't that great, but the wings are amazing and you can always get a table.

Bring a gang of friends, tunes on the jukebox, and a few dollars (drinks not expensive).  Perfect easy going and fast party with a crowd style eat wings and check out whats on TV, if you're into that.

Great happy hour specials here and can turn into a frenzy during large sporting events.  I haven't had the food, but I've seen people eating it here so it can't be all that bad.

Wound up here around 3am on a post-swanky hotel lounge, post-unintentional limo ride Saturday night.  Mind you, I am in NO WAY a sports bar type of gal.  That being said, had a great time here.  Bartender (also one half of the ownership team) was quite nice and my drink was stiff.  I wasn't paying, but I hear the drinks are  cheap.  All I know is that there was plenty of space, decent music, and no-frills comfiness.  Much to my surprise, it was exactly what I needed that night.  Oh, and it helps that there was a MASSIVE fight outside, which I was able to gawk at safely from behind Bar Coastal's windows.  Great entertainment, esp. when you're hammered.
