Waipahu, HI
I was a fan of this place back in '09 when my guys first brought me here, and I'm proud to say that I still am.
This place gets beyond crowded on First Fridays, luckily I have my ways of getting in sans crowd and entry fee.
35 has two bar locations: indoor and outdoor.
I love the outdoor bar more because I like to breathe. Well breathing, and my most reliable opinion that it plays an amazing music selection. I'd have to say that Eddie is a great barkeep and probably the best I've come across thus far. The food's pretty good, but I'd rather come here to drink and have a great time.
My only qualm: "hipsters" of hawaii, please don't turn this awesome place into another sweaty, freaky-deaky nightclub. I'd love to enjoy the sound of clinking glass, great music, and great talk over bump & grind any day of the week. -

Okay, so I have been to Bar 35 quite a bit I would say, and every single time I go, I experience something different. It really is a unique place.
The drink menu is pretty awesome, and they have a wide range of beers, including framboise, which made me an instant fan of the place. The crowd widely varies, but I have always had fun with whomever shows up. The bartenders are attentive and quick, and the drinks are pretty good.
From what I hear, the pizza is bomb, although I feel like only having two bites of it myself makes it unfair for me to review it. ( I will say the two bites I had were pretty good.)
The bar itself is really neat. I love the setup of the leather couches, the stage, the back patio and the strange S&M style VIP rooms. There is a wide range of music played here, sometimes I really like it, and a few nights, I have not been a fan. I mean, c'mon...they play wildlife shows on the big screen..that's so awesome!
There are various shows and special events here, ranging from the normal to the bizarre. I modeled in a lingerie fashion show here last february, and it was alot of fun and it garnered alot of attention. They have various DJ's, dancers, fashion shows, and displays throughout the week, so definitely friend them on facebook to get the scoop before you go and see if it's something up your alley.
Bottom Line: It's a pretty solid place to go and always have a good time, save for the few times where they have sucky music. Check their facebook page or website before you attend, but definitely give it a chance! -
Review from Summer T.
Bar 35 is a fun place to hang out with friends for happy hour--especially if you can make it before they start charging cover and it gets super crowded. The ambiance is great--I love that there's the outdoor area, with big trees and long benches as well as the indoor lounge area with brick walls and dark lighting. The beer menu lists alcohol percentage for each beer, so you can kind of guide what kind of evening you'll have.
I also must be getting old, because the music gets kind of loud in the later parts of the evening, and it gets a bit tiring to shout to have a conversation.
Despite the noise level, I would definitely go back for happy hour. -

Bar 35 is awesome any night but Wednesdays are my favorite! Every Wednesday they have beer and pizza tastings. For $20 you get to taste 5 beers and then pick which one you liked the best to have again for your 6th. Each beer comes with a small slice of pizza.
I'm not big on pizza so I opt for the crispy chicken nuggets and french fries. There are about 10 different sauces to pick from and I've tried most of them and they are all delicious!! I recommend getting 4 sauces or so and having a sauce tasting while you are at it!
There is lots of parking in the municipal lots or street parking if you're feeling lucky. -

THEY SELL 40's (Mickey's Ice) HERE . . . DO I NEED SAY MORE?!?! might just possibly be thee only bar/club that does it on the island FYI.
what's that? not a 40 drinker? Say no more, they have quite a repertoire of bottled goodness, so picking your choice of poison for the night/evening won't be a problem rest assured.
they have a well endowed dance floor for the people that like to strap-on their dancing shoes/stilettos/heels/flats/slippers/sandals/moon- boots. for the past times i've been there, they'd have special guest DJ's fresh from the states as well as the very talented local DJ's we have here in HI as well. so prep yourself to adjust yourself to all kinds of music headed your way. it's fun . . . if it isn't to you, i highly suggest reaching for that 40, that should change the vibe in no-time.
the VIP rooms are very S&M looking (which i dig), and their couches are super fun to jump on. which BTW, if you EVER find the rooms empty and have a minute or two to spare, leave your pack quietly, run through those chain curtains and go to town on them black leather clouds they call couches! WORTH IT!!!
now, for my personal choice of the creme de la creme of the whole entire Bar 35 establishment is their (what i like to call) backyard. it's open roofed so you can smoke (in respective corners of course) and send smoke signals to other bar patrons around the chinatown district. there's bamboo fencing you in so you feel like a jungle cat at times (don't be afraid of the feeling, it's completely normal).
they have a lot of prestigious live shows in there as well, so if you're into the performing arts PLEASE keep track of what goes in or around that area for your own sakes.
i've been there just on Fridays, saturdays, and first fridays
and it's been all good-times.
well, like what the homie Forrest Gump always says, "And that's all i got ta' say about thaaaaaat." -

Years ago, I went here and it was a packed house with lots of people drinking. Recently, I went to be an extra on "Hangloose". It was a great experience filming in a bar. LoL

Bar 35 is my favorite watering hole in town. Go there on Wednesday for their House of Brews beer tasting & pizza samples for $20. You'll get 8 samples plus one repeat. Andy, the organizer, promotes weekly themes (spiced beer, IPAs, ciders, etc). The bar ambiance is nice- cool, dark, lots of bar seats and a handful of tables. The pizza is another winner, light and crusty artisan type. Enjoy!

PROS:
-Wednesdays are beer and pizza tasting nights at Bar 35. This allows you to taste seasonal beers while having tiny bites of their various flat bread pizzas. I would expect more pizza, but it's still fun to have the beer-expert go around and educate you on various beer details.
-Comfy Couches
-Fun, interesting, conversation starting art. Look at the painting to the right of the bar. It's a penis painting!
-Reasonable prices.
-Nice, dim lights and friendly atmosphere.
CONS:
-Parking is going to cost you, no matter where you park. Find a parking garage or pay lot nearby before you go. There is no street parking outside of it. -

Bar 35 was our final stop...bangin' beats, chill vibe, and we even got our own little private area!
I got a drink that was lychee and raspberry flavored (I think) and it was pretty tasty...the beer selection also sounded tempting and so did the pizzas, but I guess we'll have to wait until the next time I come home...ALOHA!!!

Review from Jamila J.
I've had a love affair with this place for a good bit, I guess I was trying to keep it a secret and didn't review it. I guess it's time for this affair to be exposed.
Bar 35 is a solid, consistent place in Chinatown that everyone seems to make it to for at least a bit of a night out. They've got a lot of events that go on here from fundraiser, to art, to live music. There's something for everyone.
The club has a great ambiance. Nice couches inside, tall tables and even the outside patio. Get here early though because it gets crowded quick; standing room only. And don't think the crowd will let up as it gets later, people will keep coming and then you may encounter a line.
Happy Hour everyday from 5pm-8pm. Great Bottled Beer selection, they've got some good ones on tap. Good mixed drink specials and some great creations. Still decent prices after Happy Hour to keep the party moving.
The food. This is when the affair began. All of that before was just a flirtation and I love my booze. But the pizza is so good. My favorite by far is the french kiss, ham with brie. Yummy. They've also now got french fries with different dipping sauces. All pretty good.
And there you go, I've gone public with the affair. Now you can all have a try. Bar 35 is not to be missed when in Chinatown. -

So my fiancee and I stumbled on this restaurant on Halloween and I can say I'm glad we did.
This place's ambiance is awesome its a lounge setting so if you want to just have a nice drink, kick back on a nice couch and watch quirky films this is the place to do it.
My favorite part of this bar is that their drinks are amazing! After having two I was done for the night (and I am not a light weight). Their bartenders are well trained and attentive and I loved their drinks. I had a ginger martini and a ginger honey drink.
I would definitely recommend this place to any of my friends and I will be back whenever I'm in Chinatown! -

Try the pizza, it's good...
Try the pizza, it's good...
Try the pizza, it's good...
Why should I try the pizza? I came here for beer!!! The main reason I'm here is for the beer. I love how they have a ton of beer, and when there's an event, this place really rocks! The bartenders and servers are so friendly, but they never tried to sell me a pizza. But I would always get...
Try the pizza, it's good...
Try the pizza, it's good...
Try the pizza, it's good...
And since I'm on a pizza kick, I caved in and tried the pizza. I don't know what I got, but it was good! Better than good, it was great! I really loved the thin crust and it came out so quickly! And no, I wasn't drunk. And surprisingly, I didn't get a beer to go with the pizza, but a martini! What? Go figure! So I've opened myself to not only thinking that Bar 35 is just for beer. It's for pizza and martini's, too! -

Had a private party in the back. Management was easy to work with and friendly. Bartenders were awesome and sweet.
It's gnarly when it's First Fridays like everyone has said before. The bathroom door in the bamboo area doesn't really lock so have someone stand guard unless you like being caught with your pants down in restrooms.
The music could really use some improving, but it's not a horrible place to meet up for a drink. -
Review from Kyle H.
Though I've been visiting Bar 35 consistently for quite a few years, it never gets old. Located in the heart of Hotel Street it's perfectly located for the after work townie crowd, pre- or post- concert and show drinks and food and one of the many stops (or just stay there all night) on the regular c-town bar crawls.
It's not hands down amazing for any one particular thing but it is the best go-to spot for such a wide variety of things, on any given night (or afternoon!) you could have a different type of experience depending on the crowd and atmosphere you're seeking:
- TRENDY CROWDED CLUB Want to dance and get wasted in an uber-crowded hot spot? Visit on any first Friday of the month.
- LAID BACK and ROOMY Want a chill open, relaxing (albeit very dark and a bit chilly) pau hana? Visit on any weekday afternoon or evening.
- BEER TASTING Want to do a beer tasting with free pizza (which btw is thin, crispy and delicious)? Visit on any Wednesday night - each week there's a new theme you get to try 8 different beers and enjoy savory appetizers all for $20!
-HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HOUR(S)! All day Monday, Tuesday - Friday (4-8) and Saturday (6-10) with $3 martini specials - they have some really creative concoctions and my next goal (this First Friday!) will be to try them all! Join me! :D

Review from Tina H.
Bar 35 is the kind of place where you can get a beer and watch a wolf rip the face off of a baby caribou.
No, really.
Running along the veins that pumps life into the downtown district lies a cozy, dark lot that's perfect to sink into after a long day at work. When you step in, you're immediately subdued by the extra chill atmosphere that seems to spread throughout the room. It's like stepping into a sigh of relief and not wanting to come back out.
Word on the street is that Bar 35 is known for its beer and pizza. I wish I could tell you how the latter tasted, but unfortunately, my taste buds were strictly restricted to the alkie stuff. And trust me when I say that the alkie stuff delivers. My friend got herself one of the many beers that is showcased along Bar 35's brick walls. I settled for the Miss Chinatown martini and when I say "settled" I mean I hit the jackpot with the super hot porno star of all martinis. To say the least, if you're not impressed by the decor, then you'll be impressed by the buzz.
After sitting at the bar, being serviced by one of the friendliest bartenders I've come across, my friend and I took a seat on one of the leather sofas once it was made available. From there, we were entertained by our own conversation as well as a big screen TV featuring footage from the DVD, "Planet Earth." This is where we got to see a gigantic wolf track and hunt a baby caribou separated from its mother. So if you're stuck in a dull date, chances are Bar 35 could still save your night by informing you on ways you can kill cute four-legged infant animals.
I hold this place in high regards and I think you should try it yourself. Definitely don't come by on a "First Friday" when the herds of hipsters plow through Nuuanu Street looking for something to post on Facebook. You might want to go on a second Tuesday or maybe a third Wednesday if you experience people-claustrophobia. If you're looking for tips on parking, check out my review on Hank's Cafe to see where I like to park downtown:

So being that it was First Fridays, me and some friends went out and made Bar 35 our first stop for the night.
We got in around 10:30 and it was packed! I was surprised how fast the line went. The first thing I did was to hit up the bar in the back past the hallway (since the front bar was just way too packed with sticky people...gross).
What made them lose two stars was based on two things:
1) I ordered a LA water and the guy at the bar gave me a vodka water!! When I took a sip I was like, "WTF?! This ain't my drink!" My friend thought it was because he didn't know how to make it, but it was probably because of the loud music. The LA must have been drowned out by the loud music and he probably heard "water" and just assumed it was vodka water. Good thing I pregamed because if I was sober I probably would've been a little angry.
2) After getting out drinks We made our way back to the front lounge area and the most annoying thing happened...this super bright LED flashlight came out of nowhere and was shinning at our faces! Apparently that's how the waiters/security get around. The first time it happened I was just dumbstruck by the brightness and I let it go but then it happened four more times! Three of the four times was while dancing! So after that we just left to SoHo.
Inside was a nice mixed crowd. I really wished I looked up this place prior to my visit, because I didn't know about their pizza until we were leaving. While walking to the door another bright light was up ahead and the girl was carrying two pizzas that smelled SO good.
I'll definitely return. I want to check this place out on a non First Friday night and check out that good smelling pizza of theirs!

Review from Emiko T.
Bar 35 is seriously an awesome (and sometimes strange) bar for all the facets of its eclectic vibe and decorative choices. When you walk in you think it's definitely a pizza/sports bar, a little further back you're pretty sure it's some VIP lounge in Vegas, then still further back you're outside under the stars and palm trees sitting upon zen-inducing cushions talking about whatever moment of alcoholic clarity you've discovered. But this melding of styles makes Bar 35 charming and so fun, and the best part is--they've got a HUGE dance floor.
Their happy hour is amazing and on top of that, the drinks are poured well and with consistency. Not sure if this applied to the beers, but mixed drinks were $3 before 10:00. Can't get much better than that. The bartenders and servers are all so friendly and if you're lucky enough to snag a seat in the very Vegas VIP lounge, the server will be back there constantly to make sure you're getting everything you need. We ordered five pizzas (none of which I was able to taste...I'm still mourning over that) but from what I heard they were delicious, especially the Bangkok.
The only minor downside is that their music is sometimes hit or miss. So if you're purely in the mood for hip hop and traditional dancey stuff, make sure you check to see if they have some "theme" going on because you might be let down.
The last (and by far the MOST strange) thing about Bar 35 is that it seems to double as a venue for burlesque shows that don't get quite risque but are definitely quite PG-13. One time there was a "fashion" show where a group of women went on stage to show off some vintage lingerie. (Trust me, we walked in totally by mistake but boy was the club crowded that night). This last visit there was also a burlesque show, but only one woman performed. It was sort of a peep show, but more of a fascination to watch the audience to see what they were making of it. Regardless, it was all in good fun and Bar 35 on a NON-crowded night (in my opinion) is much better and more enjoyable.

Was looking for a place to celebrate my birthday, quite a few places do not accept reservation for a group just gonna order pupus and drinks. George @ Bar 35 responded quick enough where I didn't have to search for another place.
The club has a great ambiance, nice couches, outside lanai was great, bartenders and staff are friendly. Best of all Happy Hour from 6pm - 10pm on Sat which work out perfectly for us. We had an awesome time!!
Thank you George and Staff @ Bar 35!!! -

Have you ever had a magical night? A night where roads turn into yellow brick, bartenders morph into wizards-or-witches and your vodka press takes you to a place somewhere over the rainbow? Such nights are rare as gold and should be treasured ... Bar 35 can induce one of these enchanting evenings, but the question that matters is this...where will you be when it happens?
In the heart of Hotel Street lies a bar unlike any other. When you walk through the doors your eyes are blinded by the lack of lighting as you stumble over what appears to be a phantom leg. Your eyes slowly adjust to the darkness and you realize that leg belongs to a hottie in high heels, sipping on a lychee martini. When your vision reaches equilibrium you find yourself in the middle of a hundred fellow revelers, shoulder to shoulder, nuts to butts, breasts to chests....some dancing, some talking....everybody's smiling.
You realize your not in Kansas anymore...
Just then the bassline drops, shaking the glasses behind the bar, clearing your mind of the fog the tornado-of-an-entrance left clouding your thoughts. That yellow brick road you've been walking all night has led you to Bar 35 and that Wizard you seek is pouring an ice cold cocktail from a Boston shaker.
Eddie, the Wizard of OZ (ounces), can be found in the south...in 35's "garden". The coolest bartender in all of Hawaii can fix you up with a drink to mend your broken heart, fill your brain with grandiose delusions and give you enough liquid courage to take on the wicked witch-of-a-bum sitting by your car. Eddie is worth waiting in a huge line for "because of the wonderful things he does", but if you know him like I do, all you need is some eye contact and in 2 minutes your drink is made.
Gretchen, the Good Witch of the North, can be found in the northern bar where it's dark and deafening. She waves her wand and concocts the best rendition of vodka-press i've ever had, and at $3 a pop until 8pm, you can let her work her magic on you all night long. "Gretchen and Magic and Vodka, OH MY! Gretchen and Magic and Vodka, OH MY!"
The night ends and you stumble out of Bar 35 the same way you stumbled in...but with new friends made and remnants of the intoxicating potions that the Wizard and Witch brewed especially for you, still running in your veins. Back to Kansas you go, as that yellow brick road slowly turns to pavement....you fall into your bed and sigh, "There's no place like Bar 35..."

If you're looking for a relaxed and laid back bar to go to I'd recommend this bar! I live right on hotel street, so I venture there quite often.
The best day of the week to go is on a Wednesday. In the evening they always have a beer tasting. They usually have some type of theme, which I think makes it exciting. Each beer you taste comes in a shot glass and there's always 8 flavors. Then your 9th one is up to you to decide which one of the 8 you would like to try again. They also come around with free pizzas to taste as well.
If you don't go on a Wednesday and don't get the free pizzas, it's definitely worth paying for - their all mouthwatering. If you order something that can be dipped in a sauce, they have a wide variety of really "special" dipping sauces. :) -

What's better after a long day at a family BBQ than going out for some drinks afterwards? That's exactly what my cousin & I did on labor day...& her bf too. As the BBQ was all the way in Waipahu, I was supposed to catch a ride back to Manoa with my aunty Lyn. But, my cousin & her bf offered to drive me home instead, I guess since they were headed that way too. I'm pretty sure she was just looking for an excuse to hangout with me more & get some drinks though. We ended up being the first ones to leave, of course. As soon as we all jumped into her little car, she asked me where I wanted to go. And, considering I hardly ever go out to bars, I had no idea. Her bf & I made her the "brains of the operation" & told her to choose a place. So, we came here to Bar 35.
We got there around 8 & thought we missed happy hour...not like it would've mattered though cause we would've ended up staying anyway. But, luckily the bartender told us that happy hour was all night. $3 martini monday! what could be better?! Lol. Unfortunately, my first drink of the night was full price. But, what can I say...I've always wanted to try a "pink lady". But, I do feel bad...next time Miche, drinks on me.
Besides the creepy drunk guy flirting with my cousin in front of me & her BF?! It was a great night with great company. -

Ugh, I forgot the kitchen closed at 9. My friend and I wanted to get their European fries, but sadly we couldn't.
So ... we opted to drink more. Tried the Ball Busted martini for the first time. My reaction went from "oh this smells interesting" to "oh this is really tangy" to "mmmm this is awesome!" It really is a bright blue, and if I was sad the taste of this concoction would have dissolved all of my sadness. It's a definite must try whether you feel sad or not.
Monday is $3 martinis all day and night, and it's not too crowded. I like it like that!!! Service was excellent and drinks were awesome.
Played some Wii bowling and sword fighting? I think it was sword fighting anyway. But it was a good time with good friends.Listed in: can i buy you a drank?, HPU Lunches, Pepperoni and green peppers,…

came here for happy hour cause my friend said they got some good $3 martinis. We came when it opened, at 4p, and we were the first and only ones there for like the 1st 15 minutes or so. I've never had a martini before because ive heard they were strong so i asked my friend to recommend which ones were sweet and so she got me the geisha which has like a pink lemonade flavor and it was pretty good, still strong but sweet enough for me to handle haha.
As for food i got the "simple pleasure" pizza which is your classic tomato saucr, mozzarella, basil and a drizzle of olive oil for $10 and my friend got their fries for $6 with honey mustard dipping sauce for another .50. The pizza was pretty good, its on a very thin crust so it can get a little floppy, esp when you get the ones with more toppings. It was good though and fresh tasting so that was nice. Their fries are also tasty and tossed in furikake so thats new.
As for their atmosphere its really dim/dark but they have a lot of comfy chairs and couches. Their little outside area is pretty nice too and its open air so thats probably better when it gets packed, instead of being cooped up indoors. They were also playing the movie sleepy hallow all night on their projector screen. The only gripe was that their music wasnt too good as the bartender said they were getting into the "halloween" theme and were playing all these loud/screamy/"scary" sounding music. My friend said they usually play better music so i get it. Overall good place to just chill :).Listed in: Yelp 365 Challenge

I always have a great time at Bar 35. I don't get out of work til 6:30, so I like that I can head over to Bar 35 and still have at least an hour to enjoy their awesome happy hour which is from 4 - 8 on the weekdays. Delicious pizzas and stiff martinis are just what I need at the end of a long work week.
You can either chill inside or hang out back where they have an outdoor bar. Huge beer selection. Cool music. Usually no cover unless they have an event going on. It can get crowded during First Fridays. For me, the best time to hang out at any bar in Chinatown is any day except First Friday. I'm not big on crowded areas and waiting in lines. =P The best thing about Bar 35 is the service. Stephanie and George are the friendliest bartenders I know, and they make the best drinks. -
Review from Rise D.
I'm hardly ever in Chinatown because I hate the parking situation and one-way streets, but I need to learn to get over it since there are so many good places to eat and drink in that area. Bar 35 is one of those places. I really liked the pizza, fries w/ sauce, and chicken nuggets while drinking Eddie's Special. For a bar, the pizza was super good! I love thin crust pizza. The sauce that came with the fries is yummy too.
My friends and I went on a Friday night and it was pretty packed. I like the private tables inside away from the main area, as well as the standing area outside in the very back of the bar since it's easier to hear each other talk. Inside the bar it can get really loud, like loud as a club. lol. I would probably go back to enjoy the food and drinks with my friends. -
Review from Jayson N.
I'm amazed at how Hotel Street and down town has become somewhat of a swanky artsy fartsy place. 10 years ago, no one would have thought N. Hotel Street would be a hot bed for nightlife.
But after we parked, we walked onto the street and there are tons of dumpy looking exteriors that actually open into the most amazing beautiful bars.
Bar 35 was a pleasant surprise. The interior is very posh and inviting. From what i hear, that front room can feel very tight at times (especially on first fridays) but luckily it was pleasantly empty on a Saturday night.
We met up with our friends in the outdoor patio in the back. Let me say, this patio is nice and open with a few nice spots for larger groups to gather. My only gripes were that smokers can really ruin the mood and for an outdoor patio, I wish it was somewhat cooler.
As for the drinks, unfortunately we weren't there during happy hour so it was a little pricey. What I thought was so odd and fishy was that we ordered two rounds of "touchdowns" and the first time we paid it was 10.50 per drink. the second time was 8.00.. I was really tempted to keep ordering to see what price it would be next time.
My yelppees always rave about the pizza here. I had a bite of the prosciutto and thought it was okay. Nothing all too special. I didn't like the sloppy floppy crust. The fries looked pretty good and i thought it was awesome how they served them in dim sum trays. (an ode to chinatown)
Bar 35 is a nice spot. I would definitely recommend checking it out.Listed in: Take me to the bar!

There is a reason that the first picture of Bar 35 is pizza. It's because it is the best flat crust pizza that you're gonna find in a bar suckas! And they have awesome fries too. What! I swear to the gods, go out back in their cute little outdoor area and get yourself a drinky drink and order some pizza. I don't care if you've already eaten dinner, life is short, you would be cutting yourself short if you don't try some. And besides, all of those drinks need to get soaked up in your belly. Then you can last through the night and go back inside and dance it up a little. They have loungy seating too- nice and comfy and perfect for pictures especially if you're in a nice sized group.

This review is based on their First Friday...So First Friday is pretty much packed wherever you go and Bar 35 is no exception. Bar 35 was our second stop of the night around eleven and the line was ridiculously long where it most likely would have taken about an hour to get in. Compared to Thirty Nine Hotel, this place is not as nice, much more crowded, and the heat can be unbearable. The best place to be is outside in the patio area where at least there is some open air, but it is still amazingly hot. The good thing about Bar 35 is that I knew a lot of people there as this is "the" place to go during First Friday, but its so uncomfortable! It was also nice that there was no cover, hence the extremely long lines and crowd. The age group seemed to be more in their 20s.
If you're able to get to Chinatown early enough on a First Friday, I recommend going to Bar 35 as even though it is a lot more crowded, the bartenders aren't as friendly, and it is much hotter, I believe a younger crowd goes there and the place is always packed. If you're going to Chinatown on First Friday I assume its "to be seen" and this place is "the" place to go to. However, if you arrive later on in the night or want to actually enjoy the bar surroundings, I would personally just pay the cover, skip the lines, and go to Thirty Nine Hotel.Listed in: Happy Hour!

Such a cutesy atmosphere. I love the decor everything from the bar set up to its cute little furniture, the vip area, the back area with the outside bar, and the ladies room!
It's super trendy and since its located in China Town you don't have to feel obligated to dress all fancy smancy. The crowd is mixed from locals to mainland people. The bar tenders are super cool&the security guards are my friends! Loves and I'll come here again:) -

I went to my very first "First Friday" here. Because of the recommendations from our friends we got into downtown early and went early to bar 35. And thank goodness we did because this place was packed packed packed. The music was good and I really liked the mixed crowd. It's kind of what I expected a "first Friday" to be.... Lots of good looking people partying! I think my Bar 35 experience was enhanced by the fact that we got an area on bar and were able to enjoy the yummy pizza and appetizers and didn't have to worry about standing the entire night and fight the crowd! Plus because we were sitting right on the bar we were constantly taken cared of by very attentive bartenders! Not to mention we got there before happy hour was finished!! Double plus!!
Being that is was a first Friday it was extremely crowded so you don't get a real good feel of this place. Luckily I have been here on a non first Friday night and was able to experience this bar in a not so crowded night. I actually liked the feel of the place with it's big sofas, and outside area. It has a good vibe.
The only thing that throws you off is that when you are in Bar 35 it's this cool, hip vibe and when we left the bar at 2 am... We literally had to step over some homeless people sleeping just to the sides of the doors. That's the plus about going on First Fridays here though. No homeless when you leave... Just the lines and lines of people waiting to get in!!

If you happen to be a beer lover or if you have a friend that is a beer lover, look no further than Bar35. They have one of the most impressive beer lists on the island, if not the best selection. They offer fantastic cocktails, good food, and a great staff that is incredibly pleasant (especially for a bar).
Located in the growing nightlife district of Chinatown, its location is hard to beat for the downtown working crowd. If you aren't part of said crowd, it can be a bit of a challenge to find street parking and you might feel intimidated by the area at night. Yet, don't let that deter you, there are a plethora of municipal and private lots all within a short walking distance and if the neighborhood scares you, carpool and bring a friend!
The beer selection is amazing with more than 150 beers in their arsenal. However, if beer isn't your thing, check out one of their cocktails or stick to your drink of choice. The bartenders pour good drinks that certainly will please the palate and quench your thirst.
They offer a good selection pizzas and a smaller menu of bar noshes. However, the pizzas are what you come here for with a well baked crust, flavorful sauces, and great toppings. The Sweet Bangkok was a pleasant surprise with lup chuong, sweet chili sauce, cilantro and cheeses all working really well together to create a spicy, yet sweet and mild pizza that works together in a great orchestration to your palate. If Asian isn't your thing, there are a ton of other pizzas influenced by other areas like the smoked pizza with flavorful Gorgonzola cheese with smoked salmon and the French kiss which features brie cheese, pesto, and ham that all work together to become very flavorful pizzas.
The New York loft feel is very industrial and comfortable for both smaller parties and large gatherings. Be sure to check out their outside patio if it is open, plus there is another bar out there. The bathrooms can be its one downfall in busier nights as they are limited.
The staff are fantastic with bartenders pouring great drinks and servers constantly coming around to take orders and clear the spaces. Note, it does lack a little on busier nights such as First Friday, however if you expect stellar service on nights like that you are in for a world of disappointment.
Definitely a great place to check out! -

What do you do when you're a little tipsy at Manifest and starving like no ones business?! Why you stumble across the street to Bar 35 to get take-out pizza! Pizza! Pizza! Pizza! That's what my stomach was screaming as I walked up to the bouncer. I told him I wanted to order take-out and he told me he'd hold my ID until I came back. It made me wonder if I looked like a criminal who'd pretend to order take-out pizza while sheepishly getting into the party for free.
In I went to order up 8 pizzas for take-out as I had a hungry group of yelpers at Manifest who were most likely just as starving as I was. My tab came out to $96 without tip and it was worth every single penny. They were even nice enough to bring my pizza over to Manifest when it was ready. I have never witnessed pizza disappear so quickly (except once at the Venue but that's another gruesome story), but yelpers are known to have quite the vivacious appetite. My favorites for the evening were the Sweet Bangkok and the Italian Perdition. Also good is the French Kiss but you've got to be in the mood. Yes, this pizza is salty but that's why it tastes so good when you're intoxicated. Mmmm I wish I had a few slices right now...Listed in: Townies Rule!, Me + My BF = Bliss, Girly Places For BFFs In…, Little Is Better, College Life: Young, Broke,…

Definitely one of my top 5 favorite bars in Hawaii and my favorite bar downtown. Friendly crowd, great bartenders and servers, good prices, yummy pizzas, well made (strong) drinks.
A wonderful place for shenanigans! Or so I hear. ;) -

Like all bars and clubs in downtown, Bar 35 has a nice and unique vibe to it which sets it apart from all of the typical places on the island. The cool thing about this place is the atmosphere and the venue itself just oozes with coolness!
As soon as you enter, you're greeted by a large open space with couches immediately to your right as you enter and a long bar on your left with lots of room to sit. There's also an area on the right side at the far wall where it's usually open and they project videos or movies onto as well as sometimes have a DJ spinning some music. Beyond that there's a hallway and as you go down it, to your right there's an area partitioned off with even more couches where you can chill with a small intimate group of friends. Go further back, and you hit the outdoor bar which is also a nice place to chill especially during the summer & some winter nights.
The people that come here aren't your typical ones that go to all of the places elsewhere in town which is great. Like I mentioned earlier, it's downtown and the nice thing is that a lot of the people that go to these places don't act like they have something to prove or are trying to be someone they're not. The drinks are good too, and they'll make almost anything you ask for but it's not the best place to go to ask for anything too exotic so be warned. The food is decent too, I've had a pizza or two here and wasn't disappointed as well as chicken wings and all of your standard fare bar food.
On First Friday this place gets crazy packed, so be sure to come early as possible or come later on in the night if you don't want to be in the middle of a crowd. Most nights it's not packed and the crowd is manageable, but again, still a good one to hang out with. Check it out for something different and want to get away from Waikiki!Listed in: My favorite nightlife spots!

I like Bar35. It has a warm, special place in my heart for reasons I can't share ;) I always end up here at the end of my night. I get their Framboise (the raspberry beer) since it's one of the only places in the city that serves it. I feel like it makes my boobs bigger somehow. Maybe not true? But alas I digress.
I've had most of their food here. Their french fries sound gourmet, but really it's just some fancy salt & a pricey bill for potatoes. I'll pass thanks. i'd rather have their pizza!! Yummy! There's nothing better than splitting one amongst your very drunk friends. I like the veggie one best.
I like the scene here too. Good local people having fun. While their atmosphere is really cool & their couches are comfy, if you want to socialize you'd better get off your ass. I love their beaded area, but again- it screams anti-social.
i've had great, amazing nights here & others a total bust so it all depends on the people that you go with. -

Second time at Bar 35, Pizza's are good and the french fries are OK. But why do you give this place 5 Stars you ask? Bartenders are knowledgeable and the drinks are really kick ass cheap. The Best Bar in China Town! My favorite bar in HI so far.
You want BEER? Bam!!! You will find your selection here
Vibe is really nice and comfortable and everyone is really friendly.
The only bad thing is, no TV.......Can't watch Sports here.
