I had the misfortune of stopping by this branch the other day while meeting my friends for dinner on Castro Street. I usually bank at the Market Street location in SF (near Montgomery) but I forgot to stop at my usual branch... Long story short, BAD IDEA. I have never been to a bank with ruder tellers in my life. I had to cash a check and since I didn't bank there they made me speak with an officer- not a big deal- but the lady who helped me, Denise was a total b***. She just glowered at me the whole time and was rude and abrupt. All I can say is thank goodness it was a one shot deal. Next time I'll remember to go to my branch first, or i'll just go hungry. Anything is better than the hateful glare of a customer service rep who wants nothing less to do than help you.
Perhaps it was because I went here at 10:30 this morning, but it seemed like this is the fastest line i've ever had inside a BofA. When I got there, there were 4 people ahead of me and I think 4 tellers. By the time I was done filling out my deposit slip, it was my turn.
I had to do a deposit, withdrawal, and purchase some Traveler's Checks for my trip. The teller that helped me was super friendly and had apologized for taking a little longer as she had a band aid on her finger from a paper cut. So we talked about the problems of working with paper and paper cuts for a little bit. And I was out of there in 10 minutes total. yay!
The fact that I got a parking spot right on Castro close to the bank made the whole trip that much better.
Somehow I ended up with the spanish guy who was a total jerk. He gave me the lame excuse that it was going to take time to cash a check, so I took it to another branch and the guy cashed it in minutes.
Never liked BofA, thus I never bank with them.
Popular well placed ATM and probably the cause of many near accidents on Castro. People go zipping in and out of the busty corner, lots of illegal parking and crazy maneuvers. If you want a study on bad bay area driving this corner is worth a shot. Unfortunately I got tired of the way BOFA operated so I moved over to Bank of the West Across the way.
Parking is annoying, because this branch is on Castro. Of the 10 years I had my B of A account, I used this branch for nearly 4 years. There was rarely a line at the ATMs (they have them on both sides of the building) but the inside was always crowded. I tried to figure it out. I though 2 pm on a Tuesday would be an obscure time, but no. The long line was there to greet me. They often had staff members pulling people out of line to help them with certain transactions at the customer service desk. They were nice enough to waive my cashier's check fee here. I have since switched to Washington Mutual.
Decent location since it's hard to locate a B of A ATM around that area, or at least I'm not aware of them. Used the ATM couple of times but never had to venture inside.
I really like this branch. This is the first bank I find pleasant enough to not mind going there. I think some of the part-timers should really learn a little more about banking though, such as changing foreign currency, which always seems to be such an ordeal. Parking is hit and miss however.
I only use the ATMs here. I HATE the ATMs, but this is the closest BofA to my house.
For some reason, they decided to install ATMs that run on Microsoft Windows here. How do I know it's Windows? Half of the sounds they use are straight out of the Windows OS.
They have touch screens as well as a number pad, and have a fancy color screen. Whee. Sure looks pretty, but I want to use an ATM and finish in a reasonable amount of time. These ATMs are unbearably SLOW! It takes forever to print a receipt, forever to accept a deposit, and forever to spit out cash. And all the while the damned thing is beeping loudly at you!
I have no idea why they installed these Diebold monstrosities. The older, monochrome ATMs at other banks are MUCH faster and simpler. So much for high technology.
Very helpful staff at this branch. Actually try to figure out a way to solve your problems (and I somehow have many). HOWEVER, I give only 4 stars due to an extremely inconvenient B of A policy: only 1 debit card per person. I opened 3 accounts (me, hubby, joint) to make our budgeting easier. But we can't get cards for each account. Am going to have to close the 2 extra accounts and open new ones at a different bank entirely. Annoying.
The branch is fine, but BoA's banking practices are ridiculous. They completely screw the customer on charges every time they get a chance. I would NOT recommend them.
