This is definitely my go-to place for an awesome haircut. For YEARS and YEARS in Chicago, I've been struggling to find someone I could depend on to cut my hair. I have thick, super straight Asian hair and it's always been hard finding someone who didn't cut my hair too feathery.
This all changed when I read a bunch of Yelp reviews and had Shannon cut my hair for the first time a few years ago. Since then, this is where I go for any kind of cut--whether it's just a bang trim, a completely renovation--she's great! Her dog is really cute too. Shannon is really great and listening to me about what I want, giving me recommendations, and then going to town.
So definitely come here for a great cut. The salon is so relaxed and chill, it's a great place to be. -

Definitely my new one-and-only.
Bang! Salon is just great.
I called Bang! today after checking out their reviews. My hair was super jacked; badly half-shaved head, and asymmetry gone horribly awry. I was supposed to have a 4:00 appointment with Johnny, but there was a mix up and he was not there. Eli apologized and said he'd be happy to cut my hair once he finished with his client.
Well worth the short 10 minute wait.
Holy shit. My hair looks awesome.
This morning I looked like a mental institution escapee, and now I don't. Not only do I not look insane, but I love my hair.
Finally. A stylist who knows what to do with a pair of freaking clippers. Eli gave me the best fade I have ever seen, and an all-around kickass haircut.
The place is really clean, and everyone is really friendly.
I have tried many of the top rated salons in Chicago, and am sick of the piss-poor attitudes of the stylists and the crappy overpriced haircuts.
These guys are top-notch. Can't wait to see what Eli can do when he has a clean slate (not crazy Girl Interrupted-style) to work with!! -

It's 1pm on Monday and I am calling around frantically trying to find someone to cut my hair the same night because my friend butchered it over the weekend. After about 10 places told me they were completely booked, Eli answers the phone at Bang! Salon and tells me he can squeeze me in at 8:30 (they close at 9). I was very grateful he was willing to fit me in that close to closing time. I thanked him, and am sure he heard the distress in my voice.
When I got there, I was guided into the middle room where there are chairs and a round sofa to wait on (with an ample magazine collection). I arrived about 10 minutes early. Eli (my hairdresser, who also guided me back) asked me a few questions about my hair and then said he'd be with me when he was finished with his client. I was greeted by all staff that walked through, and 2 different people offered me something to drink. Right at 8:30, Eli's assistant came back and started washing my hair. I also received the best head massage ever! He was very communicative and told me to tell him if he was pushing too hard.
He leads me to Eli's chair and Eli promptly comes over and we start talking about my hair. He was very specific. I told him I wanted it cut as long as possible to fix what my friend did. I told him an idea of what I like and after asking a few questions like "how short is too short for you" and "how long do you spend on your hair a day", etc, he started going to town on my hair. I kept asking him questions about my hair and he kept giving me tips on what to do with it and different things I can do with the least amount or no product at all.
He gave me the perfect haircut. I pretty much gave him full reign with a few exceptions. He was a great conversationalist, generous, professional, etc. He didn't try to upsell anything, he wasn't snooty at all (even though he just won best hairstylist of 2011 at the NAHA awards!). I will continue to go to him....forever. -

I've come here twice, with appointments for haircuts from both George and Lisa. Both had taken their time to listen to what I wanted, and were meticulous when it came down to it. They each spent 1+hours cutting, shaping and styling my very long hair. Usually at other places they do a quick chop and a blowout, and send you on your way. Not here. They use different techniques for cutting and styling and make sure you're completely satisfied before leaving. And everyone is super friendly.
I think the decor here is fun. It's got a young fun vibe, not like the last few places I've been to. This place has the edginess I'd been looking for- I'll definitely be back!! -

I loved it!! the place is nice and clean...
super friendly group of people.
I had an appointment with George, first time there....so didn't know what to expect.....
plus, I never seem to know what I want for a haircut, which usually annoys (with reason) the person that is in charge to cut it, lol....
well, not George....he just asked a few things and viola...I ended up with a super awesome haircut!
I didn't feel rush, he took his time and did an awesome job....
the haircut itself......wow! works well with my face, and it's stylish and cute! I love it, my girlfriends love it and I can't wait to go back for coloring next time!! and maybe trying a new do! soooo excited!! :)
i think it was fate i found this place!! i'm not letting go now!! -

Background story: One week until I fly out to see my boyfriend who has been serving overseas for well over a year. It was easy to let myself go a little. My roots were horrendously dark and the sun did it's magic by lightening the previous color I had done at Bang leaving the top very light and the ends, so often hastily thrown into a bun for work, darker. I was a trifecta of hot mess! I was doing myself, the salon and my boyfriend a disservice. Clearly it's time to TCB.
Today: I'm fresh as a daisy. Through the coloring genius of Lisa and Shannon I was able to regain my former glory. My hair is ONE COLOR again and better than that, it FEELS good. Itchy as the color may be when applied, I always feel silky and shiny on my way out the door.
I feel so confident now and you know those dramatic airport kisses people have in the movies?
Mine is going to look freakin' epic thanks to these guys!1 Previous Review: Show all »

It has been about a month since I was there (sorry so late on the review!) And I can't wait to go back! I bought an online deal for credit here and I am so glad I did. I have been searching for my go-to salon for over a year now and I've finally found it!
Shandra was my stylist and she was amazing, really sweet and attentive to exactly what I was looking for. My description of what I wanted to do with my hair for was a little confusing but she somehow managed to understand what I was looking for. Her interpreting my jumbled and wordy description is an amazing feat itself, but that she did exactly what I wanted is incredible! Though I need a touch-up right now, it has been a month and my hair still looks great: the highlights Shandra did were perfectly blended (she even managed to blend my old highlights that had grown out so it didn't look so tacky) and not the "tiger stripe" look. And the way she cut my layers that now they've grown out they still look great!
Also, the customer service is wonderful, my phone was about to die and I was expecting a really important call and when I expressed my worry for it to Shandra, she and another male stylist sought out an ipod cord to plug it in for me! Another neat little thing that made me really love this place even more was they had a big basket with free salon-quality condition/shampoo samples, very nice! That is 5-star service and people who love their customers.
In short, if you're debating on going, just make an appointment with Shandra, you'll be glad you did! -

The customer service of the stylists is great, they were very accommodating and understanding.
It was good that they were because they didn't do a great job on my color. I got a cut and single process. The cut was really good, and I liked it, and the same girl, Chandra, colored it. I wanted my hair dark brown, almost black, with neutral undertones. I didn't want a reddish or brassy tint.
First round - not dark enough, and I had red roots.
Second round - almost there, still reddish, didn't match the rest of my hair.
Third round - well, they made my hair all the same color, about a shade darker than I wanted.
They were very nice throughout, but by the end I was frustrated by the experience and had spent way too much time there.
Also, I am not crazy about the decor. It reminds me of a college dorm room. -

I have always been searching to find a stylist that I can be loyal to, and with all the Bang!in reviews, I was hoping I had found the place.
Unfortunately Bang! salon isn't the place for me. The salon itself and people are nice, but it just wasn't a good fit. The assistant was sweet and the stylist played with my hair a bit to get a feel for it, while listening to my general requests. I gave the stylist free reign, as long as my cut was a certain length and manageable without needing to primp for an hour in my bathroom.
My hair looked cute as I was leaving and was supposed to be pretty easy to style & manage. However, the next day a few friends commented the length was longer on one side vs the other (this wasn't an asymmetric cut), & my trusty roomie confessed that one side was choppier than the other and the overall look just didn't work for me. The concept of it was great, but I'm no Megan Fox. I guess it just wasn't meant to be.I ended up going elsewhere to fix it and see if another style would fit me better.
They offer a drink and give 1st timer/student discounts, which is awesome in this kinda economy. But the hair didn't turn out so well and the place is pretty far, which sucks with the lovely Chicago traffic. Kinda sucks that it didn't work out, but Murphy's Law sticks to me like white on rice. I hope you have better luck than me! My search continues...Comment from Eli M. of Bang! Salon 1/24/2011

Lisa did a fantastic job changing my "too streaky" highlights (from another salon), to a beautiful auburn ombré style. She did an extensive consultation to assess what I was looking for, and was incredibly professional and friendly.
To top it off, I received a new customer discount...this sweetened an already awesome deal! -

Since I lost my last stylist I've been looking for my new true love to do my hair and I found it in Shannon. She fixed the slightly raggedy cut someone managed to give me the LAST time I got a trim AND do it the right way, evening out the really severe layers that I was looking to ditch in the first place. I came out looking ten times better just in time for Cancun - and now I'll have time to go back and get some straightening and color done with her, too!
Hell, I even enjoyed the other customers there. Everyone was super friendly!
Extra bonus : omg cute tiny puppy dog! The most quiet, well behaved and sweet tiny little puppy I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying, and certainly a welcome change from the boring, sterile places I'm used to. Hopefully they get a new location soon that they can do even more with! -

My favorite thing about this place is after I paid and was ready to leave, I went to push the door open and there it was. A big sign on the door that says, and I quote, "You've just been banged!' Now that's hot!! Rock bottom prices on cuts and color. Great same day service if your in a rush or just a procrastinator....like myself..
Give it a try. You won't be disappointed! -

Disclaimer: I've been going to Anne-Marie since she started cutting hair almost 6 years ago, so I'm a bit biased when it comes to her.
But seriously I'm so excited she's working at Bang! salon! It's one of the most fun atmosphere's I've found in a salon, and they want you to feel comfortable there. I havn't had any of the other stylists work on my hair but since it usually takes me close to 3 hours to get all my coloring and cut done I've seen alot of their works and I am super impressed! Whether it's a simple hair cut or a funky - artsy cut they do it all, and it always looks good!
Everyone there takes the time to listen to the customers about what they want and I've never seen anyone walk out unhappy.
Anne-Marie has made me every shade of red in the rainbow (on my own will) and we've finally found the perfect shade for me. And when I went in this past Monday I let her cut my hair finally. (I usually just keep it straight and long with no layers) She put layers in my hair all over and gave me slight side bangs as well. I usually hate bangs since I hate actually having to do my hair every morning, but Anne-Marie did an amazing job! And she gives a great head massage when she's washing your hair too!
No matter what you want done with your hair, you'll find someone here who knows exactly how to make you look amazing! -

I highly recommend Bang! Salon!
I went in today for a full Highlight with George. He was super friendly, efficient (got me out an hour earlier than expected!) and did a fantastic job! Shannon did my blow-out and styling and was great as well.
The location and interior is very unassuming. Street parking was simple and plentiful. -

Bang is a solid place to get a great men's cut for not a ton of money. Teddy takes his time and consistently produces a great hair cut. I have gone to very expensive places that are booked for weeks, and Teddy can cut with the best of them. Plus, if anyone starts to cause trouble, he will cut a bitch.

This is my new favorite hair salon in the City of Chicago.
The actual salon is small and cozy and I liked the simple yet modern comic book decor. I had a hell of a haircut that needed to be dealt with and was looking to get a full head of color. My stylist brought out the book and let me tell her what I was looking for. When I was done with my long winded explanation she agreed with me and gave me a couple of suggestions to improve my ideas.
I was a little nervous about the color I chose, due to the red wall it had a funny look, but my stylist took me outside and showed me the actual color, which I;'ve received many compliments on.
My gal , Shandra, did an amazing cut and color job. I thought she would have to whip out the weed wacker to fix the mess on my head, but her skills rule. The cut is so clean and stylish and she was able repair the awful haircut I had previously while still keeping what I wanted in mind. It was refreshing to go into this rock and roll hair salon with my non rock and roll style and feel totally comfortable. The staff was friendly the location was easy enough to get to....this place rules, you should go there. -

BANG! BANG! BANG! They know how to cut here! Ask for Ann if you want a wicked do! Now if you know me, my hair is everything and I don't just let random people cut it or touch it. I definitely recommend this place if you need to get your hair did.
Oh they give great head massages too when you get your hair washed.
The price is reasonable for being an artsy hipster place. -

I guess I was expecting a little bit more with the overall 5 star review, but I got a good haircut for $40 and that's what counts.
The salon is definitely cozy, but a very friendly, no frills atmosphere. The lay out is a little strange with the waiting room in the back with the shampoo stations, but the overall theme is cute. I couldn't help but feel the staff was a little frenzied, and although it was a Saturday afternoon and I'm sure their busiest time, I prefer a slightly more relaxed tone.
As I said, overall I like my cut, it was done exactly how I wanted, I felt my stylist was very experienced and got my cut done in a timely matter, I just wasn't blown away. Would I go back? Maybe. The regular $50 for a cut is not too horrible, but I may see if another salon in the area has a discount to try them out. -

This place is not for me...I went in asking for bangs and just a few layers..I specified not to touch the lenght of my hair ( I loved loved my long hair) My hair looks short and is thinned out..I loved my full hair I never asked to get it thinned out. My regular salon styles hair with a blow dryer and a big round brush, here they do it with a flat iron and a ton of hair spray (i can't remember the last time I used hair spray!) I feel like crying now I styled my hair after my cut and there was no way at all that I was able to make my hair curl out the way it did...what have they done to my hair?? I have to pay again to fix my hair and the saddest part is that to fix it it will have to get shorter. There go my years of growing my hair out!!!
They do have very friendly staff here and I loved having the puppy on my lap but unfortunately I will never go back to get my hair cut. Who knows when my hair will look the same as before..Hope my old stylist can fix it! Good Luck! -
Review from Jen B.
I found Bang! after scouring Yelp for weeks and finally being drawn in by its affordability and aesthetic (or as much as can be drawn from a web site). It reminded me of my old salon in Minneapolis (Moxie Uptown), which was the only place I'd ever really patronized for more than two visits.
Full disclosure: I am one of those terrible customers who says they are low maintenance when they are not. I could not be further from it, to the point that I have: (a) cried about my hair, more than once, (b) gone back in to have coloring touched up that day even though it would have mellowed on its own in a day or two, and (c) gotten hair extensions to cover up a bad/choppy cut. Really I am just lazy and forget to actually think about what I want done to my hair before I sit down in the stylist's chair. This has burned me so many times. But not any more. Why? Because I refuse to get my hair cut. Ever again. Or, at least for the foreseeable future.
It's been almost a year since my last cut, and although I have been able to manage the split ends (somewhat), I can't say the same for my roots. I'm naturally honey to dirty blond but wear it about two shades lighter than my natural color. So, after avoiding the salon for over six months (aside from a disasterous visit to Studio 110 to have my extensions removed), I needed some QT with my old friend, the bleach and tone.
Enter Shandra at Bang! She rocks. She bleached me up right and got my color looking great again. She also gave me the best blow out I've ever had, lasting into a second day and pushing a third. And she was cool about giving me some tips about drying wavy hair (a diffuser, who knew?). She also didn't try to push conversation, which was helpful because I fell into her chair about as hungover as possible while still being able to function, albeit on a low level. She quietly worked while I read Vanity Fair and tried to pretend my head wasn't exploding. We did get to chatting after the rinse, when I was approaching normalcy.
Color came to $115 but I got a 15% discount as a first-timer. While I hate spending that much on hair, I have yet to find a better deal for the quality. Highly recommend Shandra to anyone. -

I went here about a year ago for a cut based on a recomendation of a friend. ( I had an argument with my old stylist and wanted to get back at him) I made an appointment over the phone and was happy they were able to squeeze me in the next day.
When I arrived the first thing I noticed where the hair stations. They didnt have any desk or tables so things like flat irons and blow dryers where just sitting on the floor. Gross. I discussed with my female stylist what I wanted including telling her that I usually have the back shaved up with a number2 on a clippers. She started cutting away . When she finished I said " No I want it shorter in the back like using a number2 blade on the clippers"
She started trimming down with scissors. I again stated I wanted it shaved. She then told me she was doing her version of the hair cut I wanted. At that point I was pissed and just wanted to leave.
When I went to go pay I pulled out my credit card. They then informed me that they were not taking credit cards. I pointed out that on their website It said that they take credit cards and also they have the visa/mastercard sticker in their window. They then preceded to tell me that one of the owners had stolen their credit card machine and would I like to use the atm they had installed outside. ( Had I know I would have stopped at my own bank and gotten cash on the way to my appointment) I walked outside to use the machine only to discover It was on of those weird ATM's thats not really related to a bank and charges a $4 fee!

XXXXXX Aven no longer works at Bang! He has moved to Orbit Salon in Wicker Park XXXXXX
Don't you hate it when you discover something you can't live without in a town you don't live in? Aven (of Bang!) gave me the haircut I've always wanted. I've tried in the past to describe what I want to stylists but they never seemed to get it. I just told Aven to do what he wanted but keep it long. Every time I look in the mirror my hair looks awesome. I can't wait until I have the chance to let him color it too! Unfortunately I live in San Francisco and he is in Chicago - I see this becoming an expensive habit ... but it's worth it. I'm sure he'll satisfy you too! -

I am a horrible person when it comes to setting appointments or generally being at places when my presence is required, add to the equation I've had zero time to deal with getting my hair done as of late. As such, I called the salon on a Friday night at 7pm to inquire about the next couple days if I could get in.
As luck would have it there was a cancellation and I live a block away, Eli was able to get me in right then and there.
Everyone was very personable and I will definitely be coming back. I walked out of there looking 10 times better than I walked in.
They also gave me the first time discount which was pretty sweet. -

Since moving to Chicago almost a year ago, I have attempted to find a new go-to salon and stylist. I am so happy to have finally found it!
My roommate came home last week transformed--her hair was fabulous! So I quickly hopped on the bandwagon and made an appointment for a color--which was available the same day that I called.
Eli did my hair and he was awesome. The environment was fun and relaxed and as soon as I sat down I knew I was in good hands. Eli has a great eye and I can't wait to come back for a cut. I am so pleased with my new red hair! -

BANG! BANG! The hair designers here are absolutely friendly and fabulous! Eli, (owner) is outstanding in both cut and color creation. He was able to accommodate my needs upon my initial visit, and I am an extremely particular costumer as it relates to my hair. He is meticulous, accurate, fashion forward and full of passion and creativity. He truly listens to you and takes his time to ensure perfect results!
Bang is reasonably priced and they use top quality products. They are also flexible in scheduling appointments, even late hours and weekends.
This place is a gem and I highly recommend the salon to anyone who has considerably high expectations regarding their hair. Two thumbs up! -

A friend recommended me and - bang! - I was there! A cool woman named Shannon cut my hair. I always feel sorry for anyone who has to cut my hair because it's very thick, but Shannon said, "It's work and I like work!" I could tell everyone that worked there had a great rapport that carried over to the clients. This was just before Halloween and the stylists were discussing their costumes. Suffice to say, it was heee-larious!
This is my regular place now. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for cool, open people and a great place to get your 'do done. -

I literally picked this place at random--but will never go anywhere else. After a terrible experience at Salon Blonde where the stylist pretty much refused to give me my scheduled perm, I called up Bang and Eli got my an appointment that night. He and his crew did everything they could to help actualize my vision, and they did so with excitement, kindness, and talent.
They are everything everyone else has written: laid-back yet professional, fun, friendly, and awesome.
I might have to break my self-styling tradition and submit my hair to Bang!

It took a lot for me to have a new person give me a cut and color. I've been loyal to my other girl for over 4 years and needed a change. Aven gave me a partial highlight and a super cute modified bob with bangs. He spent a lot of time on communicating what he thought would look good plus going over the pictures I brought in as ideas. I got WAY more than I bargained for and this is by far the most reasonably priced hair extravaganza I've been a part of. Cheap, fun environment and really cool staff. Totally a great deal I recommend it to my friends!
PS: Even if you don't have a wild side don't be afraid of this Salon, Aven is well versed in all styles and gave me a hot but professional look. Plus he's hilarious and as mentioned before on here hot, single and sleeved up--hot tamale' -

This review is LONG overdue! My first appointment at Bang! was back in September. I booked a cut and color with Lisa, who is the sweetest thing. I felt like I could trust Lisa, especially after the thorough consultation we had. She did an amazing job, as well as the second time I went to Bang! which was about a week and a half ago.
I booked my appointment for a highlight, and after the consultation I realized the color I wanted was going to be more complex than throwing foils in my hair. However, Lisa didn't mind and even stayed after hours to make sure I was happy with the outcome (which I was ecstatic about!)
If you're looking for a salon where you'll feel comfortable, not pay a ridiculous amount and receive fantastic results, go to Bang! Ask for Lisa, and once you have had her cut/color your hair, you won't want to go to anyone else! -

I came to this salon because I follow Shandra wherever she goes, and I'm pretty happy that her new home is at Bang.
This place is fun, hip, and completely low-key. No housewives with purses that cost more than my education here.
Everyone is very friendly and helpful, and I always leave really happy with my cut or color. After having accidentally dyed my hair black some years ago (unfortunately around the same time Ashley Simpson did it, so people made the mistake of thinking I was copying her. Nope. Just didn't double check the box of dye I picked up), I am really, really fussy with my hair. Rest assured your hair is in good hands at Bang. -

Can I just say what sweethearts these people are? Very cool, totally down to earth and not at ALL pretentious. The decor is funky - slightly punk, cute theme... loved it in a quirky sort of way :) I got a haircut here a few weeks ago and I'm slow on the review process... my bad!
My haircut was good... not 'wow,' but definitely good; know what I mean? However, that said, I had the most mind-numbingly amazing scalp massage with my shampoo and, in my opinion, that alone made the trip (and the price - hello, first timer discount!!) well worth it. I'll definitely be back! -

I have gone to more than 10 salons in the Chicago area and have been meaning to write about Bang Salon. Short story is that I have passed by it many times before I even stepped foot into it. I have been a loyal customer at Fringe at the time and one of my favorite stylist moved away. His name was Sanjoy. So, one of my friends recommended me Bang.
I have been going to Johnny Hollywood for atleast two years now and during this time he has shown unwavering dedication and passion for hair trends, both in his ability to relate to his clients' needs and his extensive knowledge of the industry.. He has made real changes in my overall look and I thank him for that. I endorse Johnny as my hair stylist and hope to continue to be surprised with his work. I highly recommend his work and have no problem sharing my story with anyone. -

Yeah...no.
I went here for a cut and color and they were able to get me in on very short notice which I thought was great, but now I understand why their schedule is so open. The color I asked for was not the color I got and my 14 gray hairs were not effectively covered. I have really boring hair and don't get too crazy about its maintenance, so my shoddy dye and cut wasn't going to make me cry or anything, but I paid $120 for them not to do what they do very well at all. Kinda sucks.
The WORST part is that all I could think about from the second I walked in the door was Tabitha's Salon Takeover. This place is ripe for a "takeover". They should clean the place. Their stylists should apply at least some semblance of professionalism starting with not screaming across the place and being kind of bitchy to each other. Also, there was a child in there with a client who was running all over the place yelling and getting in the way of my stylist. Some people (me) like to go to a salon, spend a bit of dough on themselves and dare I say have a relaxing experience? If that is what you are looking for...don't go here! -

I recently went in for a haircut with Johnny. I really liked what he did with my hair. I told him I was trying to grow it out and that I didn't like parts of what my last stylist did so he cleaned me up, got me out of the awkward phase and gave me a pretty rockin do. I liked that he explained his process to me and helped me understand why he cut certain pieces each way and how it was going to help me reach my ultimate hair goal. He also gave me an amazing scalp massage during my shampoo which was great, haven't had one of those in a long long time.
The salon itself is really small, but its clean and serves its purpose. Their prices are pretty decent as well. $45 for your first cut, $50 normally. Its also literally 2 blocks from my apartment so that is a huge plus for me. If you do drive however, the parking is a lot easier than over at one the centrally wicker park located places.
We'll see how the hair grows out, but I'm pretty sure I'll be back in a few months for another trim. -

Being a bit of a hair whore i'm picky to begin with, but i liked the haircuts of most of the staff, it got great reviews on yelp, and i thought the young asian stylist on their website was adorable so i figured it was worth a shot...The overall look of the place was solid, the people there were immediately friendly and helpful...i got a good feeling right out of the gate, so i put my head in Shannon's hands and she seemed very capable based on her 7+ years in the biz...
Cutting to the chase, I walked in with a friggin' mane of hair (hadn't cut it since May so there were SO MANY options as to what could be done) and i left with a hair helmet...it was clearly expressed i wanted to keep some length, but just tighten up the back...i gave her creative freedom and said to just keep it clean, but still a lil edgy...that is not what i ended up with...
Now I don't want to condemn the spot, as again, they were super nice, my haircut isn't terrible, and Shannon said she'd be happy to adjust it for free if after the weekend I decided I didn't like something specific about it and I wanted it to be touched up (she also gave me $5 off as a first time client, which is always appreciated)...the down side is, I don't know what could be done to clean it up without taking even more length off...so i'm keeping it blah...thankfully i like hats anyway...
Maybe I'll try them again sometime...and by all means try them yourself...just be specific as to what you want done and pay more attention to your haircut than your phone while you're getting it worked on...

I followed Shandra here because I've loved her styles in the past and I wasn't disappointed with this new salon. Bang is very welcoming and friendly, and not pretentious at all. I loved checking out the hairstyles of other customers while I was there, too...very cutting edge (pardon the pun!)
I live pretty far from here, but definitely consider it to be worth going out of the way for. -

I have been going here for a while now. My first visit was as soon as I moved to Chicago and it was after a long summer of being a lazy bum so I hadn't had a hair cut in about 4 months.
So I called in to make an appointment after duly checking with yelp and they asked me if I had a preference as a first time client and were uber professional for those who prefer to get their hair cut exclusively by a male or a female.
I didn't care and a minute later I had an appointment set up with Johnny for the next day. Easy enough.
The fact that I keep going back there is actually proof enough that Johnny does a pretty awesome job of giving me a haircut that looks good to me in my personal life and in my sell-out job.
And then he listens to me grumble about my sell-out job. A hair cut and a therapy session. What else you want, mofos?!
And a shout out to jet as well!
I referred my roommate to bang! as well, and now this household gets their hair cuts exclusively at Bang! Just make sure you play close attention when trying to get there. There is no obtrusive sign outside and only a small board on the door. I walked right past it the first time I went there.
