Def excited that I moved right up the street from Bamboo!

We ordered the chicken dumplings for an app and they were so good. I always get excited to have good chicken dumplings! We also split the Thai BBQ Chicken which was Cornish hen. I guess we should have known better but there were a lot of bones to deal with so I'm glad I wasn't on a hot date, but it was still tasty. We also got the teriyaki beef with stir fried vegetables and egg noodles and that was bomb! So delicious, so much food.

    Can't wait to come back!

We were sent to Bamboo on a recommendation by a friend who claimed that it was the best Thai food in the city, which is a tall claim to live up to!  However, we were far from disappointed.

The decor was cute and the fun, especially the large aquarium.  Our waitress was very helpful and sweet making sure we ordered exactly what we wanted by clearing up a few differences in some of the choices.

We ordered Fresh Spring rolls (veg only), miso soup, and Pad Thai.  We also got a free order of the mango salsa.  All of it was so incredibly delicious, fresh and fast!  I wouldn't change anything and will definitely be going there again and again.

Cute, eclectic decor on the in & outside. The complimentary mango salsa & fried wonton wrappers they bring you as a "bread bowl" are deelicious. We started off with miso soup that was the standard salty, soothing soup with added shitake mushrooms which was standardly yummy but nothing to yelp about!

I ordered the seafood pik pow with brown rice. Firstly, the level of spice was perfect, the veggies were fresh and delicious and the shrimp was jumbo and perfectly cooked...the scallops, however, were completely undercooked and jelly-like inside. bummer. My date ordered teryaki steak with udon noodles, which were delicious, but his steak was undercooked as well. Luckily I had a delicious glass of NZ sauvignon blanc to soothe the loss.

But! I would definitely be willing to try again...can't go wrong with veggie spring rolls and tom yum..i hope.

I had the chicken pad thai, my husband had the drunken noodle - both were delicious. Although, i'd say it was no better/no worse than the pad thai and drunken noodle from Bankok in Brighton.

Bamboo was a letdown for me and my husband, which is a bummer since we live nearby.  Our dishes tasted underspiced, and on the sweeter rather than the spicier side, which is not my preference.  The produce seemed quite fresh and I have no complaints about the service, but with plenty of good Thai restaurants in Boston, there's no reason to settle for average.  For Thai on the B line, I'd try Brown Sugar (for a sit down dinner) or Nud Pob (super casual counter service).

Not only are Garlic and Ginger good for you, but Bamboo transforms them into thai-liteful plates of deliciousness that are priced so reasonably it will make you forget you are in one of the most expensive cities in the U.S.

The trick to this place, is knowing what to order and NOT attempting to park. Trying to find parking on a Friday/Sat. night here is 99% likely to make you all kinds of Cee lo Green bitter before dinner.

    Recommendations:

Tom Yum Soup - standard thai sweet and sour soup with a spicy kick
Shumai - tasty mini shrimp dumplings, steamed/fried + sweet dipping sauce
Krathong Thong - wonderfully savory, eclectic ingredients served a la cart so you may make-your-own tart
Som Tum Salad - MUST like papaya. perfect blend of sweet/savory.
Larb Gai - essentially a spicy thai lettuce wrap
Crispy Pad thai - the way to go with pad thai here ONLY if you are ordering in. Crispiness does not hold up so well via delivery
Massaman Curry - thai standard, done pretty well at this place

    Hope you enjoy!

We tried out Bamboo with a Groupon Now deal, and had a great meal. We were almost immediately served a complimentary plate of delicious wonton chips with a Thai mango salsa (think the sweet cucumber dipping sauce that comes with Thai apps like chicken satay, with mango in it). Yum yum yum. For entrees we got the drunken noodles and the Thai Sukiyaki noodle soup. Usually, Thai food is Thai food, and all taste about the same everywhere, but we were very pleasantly surprised with how different and unique our dishes were. The drunken noodles came with a huge variety of veggies (cabbage, purple cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, red and green peppers, bamboo, and more). I asked for it spicy and they delivered. Try the drunken noodles, you'll be glad! The noodle soup was also delicious; it tasted like fermented soy (in a good way) had thin glass noodles and lots of veggies and meat and seafood. The taste was absolutely unique. Prices are very reasonable and portion sizes are good.

Hats off. This is the best Thai I've ever had. I had Pad Thai and crazy rolls and soup(I forgot its name but it's hot and it has mushrooms and shrimps in it, just add salt to it and you get the perfect soup). They have big portions - I couldn't finish everything so I took the rest to go. I liked how they don't just get everything for you at the same time. Instead they bring your appetizer first, the soup in my case, and then wait for you to finish it to bring the other order so you can enjoy your food fresh and hot instead of soggy and cold. The service was very good and fast.

This place is good for a date, family, and a group of friends. Nothing too fancy.

One of the nearest Thai restaurants to my apartment, I have been here several times when I do not want to venture too far from my neighborhood. I have mostly ordered take away for dinner but quite recently, I have started coming here for lunch. I think you can get more value out of the dishes by coming here for lunch.

The first couple times I ordered take away, I usually got the Chicken Satay, with Pad Thai. I think the Chicken Satay is a great choice for an appetizer. The chicken is not too moist but definitely not too dry. The sauces they provide make the meaty and flavorful chicken much more tastier. As for the Pad Thai, I believe they are fairly generous with the noodle portions. The noodles have been consistently good, loved the peanut flavor and the scallions inside. The chicken and the shrimp were decently good, but the only improvements I can suggest are that they should put some more shrimp and make the chicken a little less dry and more meatier.

As for other noodle dishes, I was able to eat the Drunken Noodle dish, and I thought it was fairly tasty, with a little spice in the flavor. They are also fairly generous with the portions of that dish as well.

As for rice dishes, I had the Beef Fried Rice, and I thought the beef tasted a little bland and lacked a little flavor, but the vegetables inside were fairly good, and the portions have been generous. Every time I got this dish, my stomach was really full after eating it. Another dish I recently had was the Tamarind Crispy Duck. One major disappointment I found was that they gave more vegetables than duck meat. Although they were really generous with the vegetables, I think they should provide some more duck meat to balance out the vegetables. Despite the disappointment, I thought the vegetables were freshly cooked and tasty. The duck meat was pretty tasty and had a nice crisp.

As for service, it was decently good. The server was really nice. As for prices, the reason why I said that you can get more value of the dishes if you eat here for lunch, is mainly because the dinner entrees cost a few dollars more. For example, the Tamarind Crispy Duck is $14.95 but if you order it for lunch, it's $8.95. Interior has a nice and cosy atmosphere.

Overall, while this place is not high on my recommendations for great Thai food, I believe this place can do a really good job, and it's a good choice for some decent Pad Thai or Drunken Noodles, and not a bad choice for some decently good rice dishes.

Okay, people. I know that I have frequented to Dok Bua all the time. I just realized something....I've found my additional favorite Thai restaurant to go for a drink and meal! Bamboo restaurant is amazing. It's amazing and delicious due to the authenticity, service, quality, and atmosphere. If anyone who lives in the area, they should go to this joint because I highly recommend it and they won't be sorry.

Bamboo is as authentic as it gets! It's very good like Dok Bua. However, the difference in the dishes is something that I can detect the distinctive flavors. It seems that the way they prepare their dishes are probably from different regional area(s) where the chef may come from. I have tried their tom yum khong soup...WOW! Spicy and right as I slurped from the bowl. Drunken noodle is really HOT and SPICY, too. Also, it's not overpowering, too. This is the real deal Thai restaurant. I was pleased to eat there instead of Brown Sugar because their drunken noodle dish didn't do me a justice because it didn't have any flavors. Also, you will get the welcoming feeling there because most of the Thai workers have their friendly trait which attracts a lot of customers to come in and enjoy the authenticity of the Thai restaurant and cuisine.

The service is decent. The waitress who served me was very concerning and reassuring. Also, the owner checked up on me and my coach, Eric at our table to ensure that we were comfortable and happy with our meals. It gets busy, but it won't affect you getting a table and having your meal ready if you go there.

Food quality is very good. Everything I ate was fresh as hell. When I ate my soup and the noodle dish, I like how the flavors melt into my tongue and taste buds. I just want to keep eating. Besides having good quality food, the cooking skills are worthy of the quality Thai chef in Thailand. Like, I said before, you won't be sorry if you go to Bamboo and dine there.

Atmosphere is decent there. It's not too dark or too bright; it's just about right. It's a perfect place where you can take someone out on a date or bring your friends to eat there because they serve alcohol. It;s also not too expensive. It's affordable as it gets. The place seems to be like a bit of a Asian psychic's place because of the vibrant and bright fish tank, bold and colorful drapes, and some of the Buddhism relics. It makes you to feel like you are in a good Thai restaurant and have a good time with your own friends or a date.

Again, you won't be sorry if you go there because what I just said above should give you enough reason to go and eat. Any of their dishes are good, but their soup and drunken noodles are to die for. It's very satisfying!

I had never had Thai food and was in the mood for something new. After reading some reviews I decided to try bamboo and it did not disappoint. They start you off with a delicious mango salsa, we then had the chicken satay which was very good. I had the crispy chicken pad Thai, my friend had the mango fried rice. Everything was delicious!

Bamboo Restaurant is like Thai for beginners. For my appetizer, I tried the Som Tum (green papaya salad.) Traditionally this is shredded green papaya, marinated with chilies, fish sauce, dried shrimp, lime, sugar, tomatoes, and green beans. The Bamboo version was more like a tossed salad, the papaya wasn't marinated at all, instead it was just raw, and there was a complete lack of chili heat. The side of sticky rice that I ordered to accompany it was so old and dried out that it was leathery. My jaw got a work out with each bite. Next, I tried the Drunken Noodles (pad kee mao). Traditional pad kee mao is hangover food that is supposed to be soooo spicy that you break into a head sweat to purge the alcohol from your system. Again, Bamboo failed to impress. The noodles were limp, cloyingly sweet, and absent was the mouth searing heat that the dish is known for.

Bamboo is just one of many Thai choices in the area, and compared to the rest, it is only mediocre. Overall, most of the dishes I tried are Americanized versions lacking in depth and complexity. Everything seems a bit under seasoned and bland. Maybe they're afraid to give you the real deal, or maybe they choose to cater to a more timid crowd. Either way, I've had better elsewhere.

So light and so fresh tasting - best Thai I have had in a long time. The presentation is also lovely - the carved carrots are beautiful and the little roses someone makes at the top of the iced tea straws are a nice touch.
Having the open kitchen was interesting too - that makes a statement in my opinion that the chefs are proud to show you what they are doing.

The only downside is of course the parking. They do offer some kind of valet. But why not park somewhere a few blocks away and work up an appetite?

This is one of those restaurants that is so good that I'm hesitant to review it because I don't want it to end up getting too crowded. If everyone knew how good this place is, it would be impossible to get a table here.

I've been going here for years and the pad thai, especially the crispy pad thai, is flat out the best I've ever had. I don't say things like this lightly either. I've lived in 5 different cities and traveled extensively and nowhere have I ever had a pad thai that could top Bamboo's.

The pad thai is the perfect combination of freshness, textures, and bold flavors. I've had other things off the menu that were also very good, but I always come back to the crispy pad this.

Put simply: go here, order anything, and you won't be disappointed.

Was disappointed with the place.  Went there with high expectations after the reviews and was let down.  Liked the ambiance (with the large fish tank) and helpful staff but the food was a big disappointment.  There was no spice but everthing was sweet instead.  I had a pan seared chilly salmon and it was not at all spicy but sugary instead.  Same thing with the tempura and the leek dumplings.  I have had better Thai elsewhere - even my local Thai place down the street in Arlington is a lot better.  I doubt I will go back there again - after all the bad reactions I had after the meal.

This is my favorite takeout/delivery establishment when it comes to Asian food. Specifically for the curries. The portions are gigantic and always full of flavor. The green curry is my favorite (and the spiciest) and the red curry is a close second.

My one complaint is that the beef they use is really low quality. I recommend getting either chicken or shrimp instead.

Other dishes of note are the pad thai, which I really enjoyed and the spring rolls which make a great appetizer.

I've never actually been into the place, but their delivery service is great. They are usually right on time and quick. All of the drivers have been very polite and walked up to my third floor apartment rather than forcing me to walk down. Hey, I'm lazy, and I'm paying for it!

I have had wonderful food from Bamboo, both in the restaurant and as takeout. Their Massaman curry is excellent and contains more veggies than I generally see in a Massaman dish. This makes me happy because unless someone hides the vegetables in dishes that I'm already ordering, I generally don't seek them out. Plus one star Bamboo for making me eat healthy.

Another star comes from their price tag. As a New Yorker, I'm used to paying between 12 and 15 dollars for Massaman and Bamboo only charges half that! Bring on the curry!

The third and (let's face it) fourth stars are because Bamboo is right around the corner from my apartment and is readily accessible. YUM.

Food is good. I think Bankok Bistro @ Cleveland Circle is better :)

But because it was valentines day this place was very crowded, had slow service and we waited 30 min before getting WATER!! They did provide all their female customers with a long stem rose and a dessert for two at the end of the meal.

I'd try this place again. Just not on a busy day.

This is the definitely the best thai in the Brighton area. I know it's predictable, but I LOVE their pad thai. It's consistently light and delicious, both in the restaurant and take-out.

I also recently discovered the "meal in a bowl" section of the menu. The yen ta fo noodles soup (red soybean broth, with generous portions of seafood and crispy chunks of tofu) is great.  I order it with extra spice, and it's the perfect, comforting, soup to combat the cold temperatures and snow that may never melt.

The drunken noodles and spicy basil stir-fried vegetables are also really good.

As far as apps go, the egg rolls and and crab rangoons are only so-so. It seems like they're not real specialties, but someone might have felt obligated to include them on the menu.  The spring rolls and dumplings are much better.

The service here is great, and the prices can't be beat. When I've gone into the restaurant for meals, they're always helpful and attentive. And they have beer and (delicious) wine.  And when I call for take-out, by the time I walk from my apartment (only a block away) my food is already ready to go.

    meh, i've had better

I've spent a lot of time in Boston looking for decent Asian food, especially thai, and this place is ok--but pricey.  Take the entrees prices down by about 4 bucks, or have cheap drinks or something--then they might get 3 or 4 stars.  Otherwise, you're money might be better spent at Tasca next door.

We visited Bamboo Thai for dinner on Labor Day with a $20 Groupon that we bought a few months ago. The menu is so reasonably priced and the total ended up being $25, including tip, for two dinners and a small appetizer "on the house."

The appetizer was a fresh, different salsa that I had never tried, served with some chips. I'm not sure exactly what was in it besides some nuts, definitely some vinegar, cucumber, and the mango (the waitress called it "mango salsa"), but it was great.

I ordered the drunken noodles, which I love and order at every Thai restaurant I go to, and after having it at various restaurants in VT, NH, and MA, I can say that this one was my favorite. The chicken is of excellent quality, which I appreciated because I hate getting those bad pieces that sometimes turn up in the mix. The sauce was flavorful and spicy, and overall the dish was not greasy and just delicious!

My fiance ordered the Panang curry with chicken on brown rice, which he loved, and I did too, although I liked my drunken noodles more! The Panang curry is one of the "medium" heat curries; ask the waitress if you need help deciding which one to choose. This dish was presented really nicely, with little "mushrooms" made out of radishes placed on lettuce leaves adorning the side of the dish. Overall this dish was of average spiciness and had a distinct coconut flavor in the sauce.

There is a nice fish tank in the center with some cool fish in it, so if you can sit next to it, all the better.

If you know the area, you know that parking is scarce, but you can trade them your ID for a parking pass that allows you to park at the Whole Foods around the corner. We just parked at Whole Foods, walked to the restaurant to get the pass, walked to the car, and then walked back again, which sounds like a lot but it's really only 2 minutes away and you can work up an appetite that way.

    We will be coming back!

We have been going to Bamboo for years. Their food and service never let us down. I have tried a variety of their food from chicken dishes, fish dishes, and their massive soups. Everything has a balance- both visually and through flavors.

Service is on point with waiters and waitresses attending to the tables efficiently and quickly. It's the little things that matter... if my water glass is half full, it gets topped off and if I happen to quickly finish it they refill it just as fast.

The menu is complete with a variety of dishes from light appetizers, vegetarian entrees, and house specialties. I try to mix up what I get but I have my favorite, which is their curry noodle soup. A big, very big, soup with a curry base that highlights everything in there. My favorite winter time food- warms you throughout and gets you ready for a good nap :-)

One of the biggest benefits of having a girlfriend who's about to start at BU Law in the fall? Enjoying the CHEAP options for eating out and drinking in Boston!

Only a New Yorker would say that Boston is cheap, but it really is compared to what I'm used to paying for something like good Thai food. Margot G. and I had just finished checking out what was soon to be her new apartment for the school year, and we were walking around exploring the area. We stumbled upon Bamboo Restaurant a little more than a block away and decided to check it out.

She had the massaman curry (as always), and I had the teriyaki chicken. Given the cheap(er) prices and the fact that it was lunch, I was NOT expecting the portions that we received. They were huge! The server was very nice and attentive, and our food was quick. We were also one of the only tables at the time, so I'd expect it to be fairly quick. But then again, this is Boston. ;-)

Afterwards the check came, and I covertly snuck my debit card into the bill fold and gave it to the server before Margot could return from the restroom. She caught me though and started to protest (like any good girlfriend would). I said don't worry about it because keep in mind, I had seen the bill and after nearly falling over over how cheap a Thai food lunch for two was, managed to pay for it. She continued to protest (again, that's how considerate my girlfriend is), I narrowed my eyes and said "no. Really. Don't worry about it." Detecting foul play she asked the next in a logical line of questioning...how much was it?

Me: "less than $20. For BOTH of us."

    Her: *blank stare*

Me: "no, I'm serious. She'll bring back the receipt when I sign and you can see for yourself."

    Her: *blank stare*

Sure enough, the receipt came back and it was something like $17(ish) for two hefty-sized lunch dishes. I'm sure this will be a regular stop of mine whenever I'm in town, and I don't even think I need to say where Margot will be getting her Thai food takeout during finals...

My only complaints are the following: in the future, can we not have lemon automatically put into the water pitcher unless I ask for it? I prefer a purer form of H2O on ridiculously hot days and would rather have the option presented to me instead of you making my decision for me. And you might want to take a rag to the windowsill once in a while. The one that we sat next to was borderline nasty.

Cant wait to sample more of the menu, but so far, the seaweed salad and spring roll have been very good.

I wish they had a bar area to sit at for a quick beer.

Well-lit seating area, ample seating, friendly staff, good selection of beer and wine- decent prices.

I haven't eaten in the restaurant, so this review is for their takeout only.

Food was good, ready quickly, and within walking distance. What more can you ask of for takeout? :)

I got the spring rolls and pad thai. Both were delish.

I think that I won't be eating in the restaurant in the foreseeable future however- I have a "thing" against fish tanks in restaurants, and Bamboo sports a pretty large one in the middle of their seating area.

    BEST THAI FOOD IN BOSTON!!!

Great atmosphere - large fishtank with lots of interesting fish, paintings on the wall done by local artists, pretty candle holders and flowers (usually big bright gerber daisies) on each table, and low-lighting and relaxing music for a romantic mood.

The food is INCREDIBLE.  All their appetizers and entrees are mouth-wateringly delicious.  The best vegetable pad thai in the city (and I think I've tried them all).

The waitresses are all helpful and sweet... you'll never walk away with a bad experience here.

Bamboo has decent Thai food at a reasonable price. The pad khee mao was good, certainly not the best in Boston but not bad as a last minute dinner stop on the way home after work.

The ambiance is... interesting --certainly a deviation from the standard thai restaurant decor I've found in Boston. I'm not sure if I liked it or not.

Service was good, but not exceptional and the restaurant was far from full. In the end, I'll go back here again if in the neighborhood or with friends.

With two really awesome Thai places just down the road, Bamboo just pales in comparison.  There's nothing wrong with it: friendly waitstaff, fast service, good prices and a comfortable atmosphere.  The food is good but not great.  Pretty much the overall theme.

I wouldn't object to coming back here, but I've had better.

"What the... is pad thai usually that white...?" Was my first reaction to the food, very pale pad thai. It was as good as it was pale... I don't know if that makes sense but I'm going to keep it.

So its been a while since I've been to Bamboo, but when I think about some restaurants in Boston that deserve a review no matter what, Bamboo is one of them.

Case 1: My parents came to Boston for my orientation and stayed here for 5 days. They found Bamboo on the 2nd day. Guess where they ate dinner for the next 3 days. That's right, Bamboo. My parents loved some kind of seafood special they had... I don't recall what it is because it was in thai. I'm not thai. Yeah. Point to take home: Old... I mean, well seasoned people love it too.

Case 2: Whenever I go to a new thai restaurant the first item I order is always pad thai, its like a standard that I can hold thai restaurants to. Okay in all honesty, there isn't a real reasoning to this, I just really like pad thai. I'm just going to refer back to my starting quote "Damn, that pad thai is white." Yes, its white pad thai, and I don't mean American Pad Thai, its just... white. But the flavor is really there, its REALLY there, its not bland whatsoever. The noodles are moist, but not overcooked which is a huge plus for me. I hate noodles that just fall apart on your fork, chopstick, spork, fingers, whatever you use. To be honest, its my favorite Pad Thai place in Boston. K thanks.

the food is ok, it could have a little stronger flavor in their typical American Thai dishes, but I do find many Boston Thai places a bit bland in flavor (not spices).  Their service is very nice in the beginning, but I got the impression they weren't too happy with credit card purchases.  Phad Thai, and Phad See Ew sorts are ok, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it from here.  (Still find Brown Sugar to be smoother on the pallet).

I've wanted to go to Bamboo for several years now but always change my mind when I get there and go right next door to Tasca instead.  Well, I finally made it last night.  I got the curry noodle soup (HUGE!!) which was pretty good and my husband got the soft shell crab, which was pretty bad (and $17!).  I think if we go back, he'll stick to the basics.

However, interestingly, they have some great bottled beer, including Hitachino Nest and Allagash.  That makes it worth a second try sometime when I'm in the neighborhood again for sure.

Some of the best Thai food in Boston.  The food is so fresh and flavorful. Definitely try the crispy pad thai and drunken noodle.

If you eat in you can enjoy the cool fish tank.  The servers are friendly but can be a little slow with drinks and the bill.  Take out is super fast though!
