4 reviews for Bamboo Garden
The only place I get Chinese food in Summit County. Keep in mind, I'm not really aware of any Asian community up here, so I'm not talking authentic flavor, but the realm of Americanized Chinese, it'll do...ingredients seem fine (not always so with flavor) and food comes freshly prepared from the kitchen.
Stick with the basics like sesame chicken, beef & broccoli, hot & sour soup, ma po tofu, or shrimp w/ lobster sauce, and it'll likely taste somewhat like something you've had somewhere, at sometime...
We didn't venture to the Thai/curries part of the menu, but a few pieces of sushi revealed fish quality seemed ok, though sashimi was cut paper-thin and rather poorly (ditto for the sushi rice prep). Hey, what should I expect?
Appears to be popular with locals and tourists alike. Appealing but tacky room not a bad place to have meal - you'll know what I mean (it's one of those places with the "Chinese Horoscope" placemats). And a few of the servers: really awkward and clueless.
For an American version of Chinese, Thai and Japanese food, this place is terrible. I would rather have a place that's good at one thing only, not a place that does terribly at everything. We ordered Orange Chicken, Pad Thai and a salmon dish and they were soaked in whatever sauce they are supposed to be cooked in. The orange chicken was okay as long as you ate every bite with a mouthful of rice and the pad thai we couldn't even eat because it was eating pad thai spaghetti and it was spicy!! Oh and the vegetables were wilting and not fresh at all. Weird..another weird thing is that in the ladies room there are two toilet seats right next to each other without a partition! what??! I didn't really understand that. I am also glad that I won't have to come back..
The food wasn't very good. Lots of black pepper in places it shouldn't have been. No napkins. We used paper towels from the bathroom. General Tso's chicken was really unappetizing. Mongolian Beef was too chewy. They started to turn off the lights on us at 920 even though their posted closing time is 10pm. The best part is knowing that I won't have to go back.
Bamboo Garden is a pan-Asian establishment, with everything from sushi to Chinese to Thai choices on the menu.
I ordered a rainbow sushi roll, and to be honest, it wasn't good. The fish was dry and the crab tasted a little funny. They do have a selection of veggie rolls, though, and next time I'll try those.
The Pad Thai and the Mongolian beef we got were quite good. Our friends had Thai tofu dishes and also recommended them.
Overall, I'd recommend Bamboo Garden (it is better than the other Chinese restaurant down the street), but stay away from the sushi.
