Avoid avoid avoid. Every time I walk into this Bally's I feel like I need a shower. Everything seems to be coated in a thin, filmy slime. The gym itself is 3 or 4 floors but actually contains very little equipment. No track, no pool, no steam room. Outdated machines. No LCD TVs on the cardio equipment. I dislike this particular Bally's so much, I canceled my membership entirely after 14 years and joined PSC.

A one week guest pass when I was tempted to drop my membership at the Philadelphia Sports Club led me to this review.
Dingy. So much "dinge" in every nook & cranny of the establishment scared me. Comparison- When you are in the mom & pop country store & take a gander at the filthy dirty conveyor belt at the cash register that has not been washed off since it's installation in the 1970's. More bloody meat and hoagie juice has spilled on that shit than I care to think of.
Cardio machines with the handle coverings peeling off, dust, dirt ,grime underneath the machines. A floor that has not been properly swept or mopped in months.
The locker rooms are old school & for as much as the membership costs should be replaced ASAP.
Outdated weight machines that still function but have that worn look.
We can all buy a home gym and wear the life out of it to the point when it looks like a Bally machine.. though WHY b/c we are paying for clean, crisp, properly functioning machines.
Staff... I have not too much to say... they tried like hell to sell the membership, they were not overbearing about it & really did do a pretty good job of enticing me.
However... the "dinge factor" swayed me far away from this establishment.
Someone get a pressure washer!

This is the most beautiful gym I've been in, probably because it's in a historic building with a gorgeous ceiling!
I did a 2 week stint in Philadelphia about 7 years ago & stayed with a friend who lived 2-3 blocks from here, so it was very convenient for me to workout here. (My Bally membership allows me to go to any regular Bally gym in the US, which was pretty convenient most of the time when I was moving around a lot).
Otherwise, the cardio equipment & weight machines are fine--worked for me. As long as they function & can adjust for short people like me, that's all I really want.
It wasn't super busy where I had to waste a lot of time waiting around for machines...I'm all about efficiency when it comes to working out at the gym...get in, get out...none of this sitting/standing around & chit-chatting.
