This review is long overdue...
I got several pieces framed by Aaron about a year or so ago. After having is work grace my walls for some time, I still look at my frames and go "Dang, that looks mighty tasteful."
He will work with you to find the right frame-at the right price-for each individual piece. He will make suggestions you wouldn't think of & they're spot-on. His frames will fit the mood & artistic integrity of whatever you want framed. And they are made to last.
If you want to work with someone who's helpful & cares about his work while making subtle, tasteful artistic statements with it, go to Ballard's. -

I have never had anything custom framed before, but i had some special pieces and was told by a friend that Ballards was the way to go. I am so happy I walked into the store! Aaron and his team are so nice and helpful, not to mention have a truly artistic take on framing. I had no clue how a custom framing job can truly change the aesthetic of a painting or print, but Aaron and his team proved that they are truly experts in their craft.
I was incredibly happy with the final product, and will definitely be returning. -

I had a painting I needed to get framed the other day and I had no idea where to ago. After checking Yelp I found Aaron Ballard's shop. I saw the reviews and thought I would give him a try. I felt welcome right when I walked in. Aaron is one of the nicest guys ever and extremely helpful. He helped me pick a frame that worked perfectly with my painting. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I was very satisfied.

Aaron Ballard is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
He's a great chap and offers superior framing and mating with advice and sincerity.
He's framed a ton of my photography and I would highly recommend him. I also had some paintings to frame for which needed guidance, his choices were excellent and all done quickly and professionally.

If you want to get something special framed Aaron is the man to go to. I had some really sentimental pieces that I wanted framed in equally as special of a way. One being an xray of my cat. I always saw it between 2 panes of glass to put up in front of a window, like a stained glass window. Aaron created this for me but created a frame in which I could put lights hidden behind the xray image and hang to get the same, backlit effect without destroying the image with sunlight.
His prices are affordable for the handcrafted love he puts into everything he does.
I also love that his shop features handicrafts that are sold to benefit certain causes. I purchased some jewelry where all the proceeds go to helping impoverished woman in third world countries.

This was a great experience. If you need framing, go to Ballard's. I arrived to the store with three unique pieces and wasn't sure exactly what I wanted in terms of framing. After a healthy discussion of options and ideas, I asked if I could step out to run some errands and come back in a few hours. When I returned, Aaron had a full list of options and ideas ready for me to consider, including a stunning, custom framing job that is the most valued piece in our home.
In short, look no further. You've found the best framing in Los Angeles. -

Ballard's Artwork Framing and Aaron himself are the definition of customer service. Being a total procrastinator when gifts are involved I brought in a piece to be framed the week before Christmas and Aaron spent one on one time with me selecting the best frame and matte and then even returned the beautifully framed piece to me before he said it would be ready! Got it in the mail and off just in time! It was quite the hit and I will be going back with more framing work soon.
Also in the shop is a section of goods from Raven + Lily a design group that partners with women in developing countries to create fair trade, hand made goods. BONUS! One stop shop for framing and gifts!

I didn't believe it when I first saw that Ballard's had so many 5 star reviews. I was like, who gets that enthusiastic about their framer? I took several pieces to Aaron to see for myself. I understand now why people are so jazzed up about Aaron. He is an artisan. He genuinely cares about doing interesting, quality work. His prices are fair and the final product exceeded my expectations. I have tried other framing services in west hollywood, beverly hills, and los feliz and Aaron is my favorite in LA. So, here is yet another 5-star review for Mr. Ballard.

Love this place!
Aaron is super nice and welcoming, and extremely passionate about his work. I took in something to get framed, and he walked me patiently through all the various options and price points, and we came up with the perfect option. His prices are incredibly reasonable and you can tell he puts lots of TLC into every piece he works on.
Love supporting this local business!
He also devotes space to the nonprofit Raven+Lily, which is a great orgnization. -

I love Ballards! I went in with a damaged tintype which Aaron Ballard gingerly repaired! He selected a matte and frame he thought would look great with it, but when I wanted to take it another direction, he was flexible and had more great ideas that suited me. If I was left to pick out everything on my own without his suggestions, it wouldn't have turned out nearly as cool looking and professional as it did.
The price was way less than I thought it would be. Although it is boutique, he managed to offer the sort of price you'd get at Michaels or Joanne, but with the advantage of an inspired setting and the good feeling that comes with supporting a local business and tradesman.
His shop is shared with a non-profit that sells adorable things made by women in third world countries, I think. It's called Raven + Lily. It's a great place to get a baby gift or a woman gift! Nice handmade blankets, bibs, scarves, and jewelry. -

Gorgeous frame selections, and clean well done framing job! I was really impressed with the outcome and happy it wasn't too costly considering the size of the picture I had framed. Also much much better quality than previous stuff I had done at commercial framing places.

Seriously great service and skilled at artwork framings, Aaron really cares about his customers and the work he does. He was very accommodating, helpful and showed me a wide range of framing options. Very fair prices, too. I can't recommend Ballard's Artwork Framing more. This is the only frame shop I'll go to.

New to the area and needed to have some large prints framed. Popped into Ballard's on a whim and was blown away by Aaron's friendliness, artistic eye, and craftsmanship. He was able to pick out mat and frame combinations that made the colors really pop. Price was more than fair, particularly for the quality of work!

PHASE ONE
I went in today Saturday to meet this frame shop and was lucky to discuss framing with the owner, Aaron Ballard. I let him know that I am thrilled to have a professional framer in our area as we would normally have to travel to the westside for valuable art and our favorite framer downtown is no longer in business.
I have a fifteen mile radius for most commerce since I don't drive and Ballard's artwork framing works is three blocks away.
He had impressive pieces that he had framed some well known artists. He is aware of using acid free materials and has a wide variety of frames to pick from.
I have many things to frame a summer project. I am enthused with his professionalism and willing to deliver the larger pieces to my house.
Like a dentist, you want your framer to be congenial so that you may develop a relationship but you want the setting to be permanent and not damaging the existing art-teeth.
I am looking forward to this relationship! -

I had a huge old charcoal that had been rolled up and getting tattered in my car for years. I was almost embarrassed to bring in my grungy old artwork in, but it actually is a pretty cool piece of art and since it reminds me of the time I spent at my university's art school I really wanted to get it fixed up. Aaron Ballard is incredibly nice, and was glad to accomadate my request to get the job done inexpensively. He did a terrific job of getting it framed and for a great price. I highly recommend this place!

If I am going to have something framed I will only have Aaron Ballard frame it. He cares for the work I bring in. He always has great ideas about how to frame and matte the work I bring it. It's great to know that he personally will be framing my work. His prices are great, he gets it done on time, and he is a great person as well. If you have your frames made there I am sure you will enjoy the whole experience.

Ballard's is wonderful! I brought in a piece i needed for a baby shower that weekend and it looked beautiful and it was done early even. There is a huge variety of frames and it is very reasonably priced. Aaron has great taste if you don't know what you want he is more then ready to help you with choices and he actually cares about the work he does. Go to Ballard's!!

Beautiful work! Framed some old posters and photos and they used this amazing non-reflective glass. Aaron is a sweetie-pie and makes sure that you get the mat and frame that works with your artwork. Great price too.

Aaron is awesome. Not only does he do a super job at a fair price point, he's uber personable and helpful as well. When I asked him if he could suggest a place to have high quality prints made from a digital file, he said he was actually having some prints made himself and that he would happily deal with the printing if I could get him the file. The results were great. And 25% less than the same services at other businesses. This place warms my heart.

I had accumulated 7 different posters and paintings that I wanted to preserve, and was dreading the cost of framing them all. But Aaron helped me select from several choices to find framing material that had a good discount for quantity. In all honesty I must say that the final 2 of the 7 pieces were two days later than his original estimate, (Not bad considering I dropped 7 items on him at once), but that drawback was more than made up for by his personable service. And the frames look great and he transferred both old (dry, fragile) and new paintings from their original wooden canvas stretchers quite flawlessly.

Five Stars! I took three pieces into Ballard's Artwork Framing (one old photograph and two original drawings) and am delighted with the way each one turned out. Aaron helped me pick out mattes & frames, and was very helpful, but also responsive to my suggestions and ideas. He even priced a few different options before I decided so I could get the best deal. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Procrastination had gotten the best of me before an art show and, a mere three days before I needed a framed print, I was without any place to get it done. I called around and the normal turnaround was 3 weeks and with unreasonable mark-ups on anything faster.
Aaron soothed my panicked mind straight away, saying the deadline was not a problem and his prices were unbeatable. Not only that, he's friendly and knowledgeable about what he does. The frame was beautiful too!

I first came across Aaron's shop when I was jogging through the neighborhood at night. It's a small store right next to the echo that is also connected to a neat little vintage shop on the corner. I returned after grabbing a card with 2 prints and my college diploma Id been meaning to have framed. I wanted a different look for my frames than the standard, so I asked Aaron if it was ok to provide my own frame stock I wanted to do out of maple plywood I had. He was very open to it and did not bat an eye. We discussed all the matte and glass options and he was very helpful and made great suggestions based on each piece. I just picked up everything and it looked great. The best part, besides his friendly and easy going attitude were the prices, which for the size and amount of pieces I had was unbelievable. The other bonus of this place is the fact that he is open at night, which for everyone who works regular hours is a life saver. Ballard's framing is a welcomed addition and necessary service for the neighborhood.

Aaron has been framing for me for years. I would never trust anyone else to frame for me. You won't find anyone more creative, tasteful or talented to do your framing for you. You can bring him something stand-alone beautiful and he will still find a way to make it better. Aaron has framed at least 2 dozen pieces for me and I've never been short of thrilled with his work.

What a wonderful experience I had at Ballard's! I took 9 pieces in to have framed a few months ago. I was a bit nervous about picking out matte colors that would go well with the paintings, as well as what frames to put with what pictures, but Aaron put my mind at ease almost as soon as I got there. We went through each piece and his suggestions were so helpful. He has an amazing eye! I trust him completely! I will not go to another framer, he's just the bee's knees!!!
